6 Great Outdoor Activities to Enjoy Near Columbus, OH
Tumblr media
Columbus, OH has the moderate temperatures and beautiful landscape to be a wonderful area to enjoy any number of healthy and fun outdoor activities.
5 Great Outdoor Activities to Enjoy Near Columbus, OH
1. Explore the Local Trails and Parks
Columbus has great trails for both hiking and biking. You can find paths of whatever length you're comfortable with in the area around the city, as well as some excellent ones in Columbus itself. Taking the Olentangy Greenway Trail along the river is a perfect way to see some of the city's neighborhoods, as well as the Ohio State University Campus. If you're looking to add a little variety to your exercise, try stopping by the 35-foot outdoor climbing wall at Scioto Audubon Metro Park. Or maybe dial-up the excitement by booking a zipline tour at ZipZone Outdoor Adventures.
2. Take-In the City's Cultural Scene
Near downtown Columbus is German Village, a pedestrian-friendly neighborhood whose appearance has changed little since the 1800s. Whether you decide to book a guided tour or to explore the brick streets on your own, you'll find the area full of historical buildings as well as independent shops and restaurants to visit. For a taste of the modern Columbus, try taking a stroll around the Short North Arts District. Located just to the north of downtown, Short North is full of murals, galleries, boutiques, and restaurants.
3. Visit the Local Beaches and Waterways
Several of the parks in the Columbus vicinity are on lakes or reservoirs with beaches. While not all are suitable for swimming, any of them are a great place to visit on a warm day, maybe with a packed-lunch and a Frisbee. In Columbus itself the Olentangy and Scioto are popular relatively gentle rivers that are popular with kayakers and canoeists. You can even give paddleboarding a try if you like.
4. Bring the Kids for an Outing
From splash pads to playgrounds, many of the city's parks have areas that cater to children. These parks can be a great way to get the kids out and active for a couple of hours, but there are also areas that are intended for longer visits. Consider planning for a longer stay at:
•         The Children's Garden at Franklin Park Conservatory
•         Slate Run Living Historical Farm
•         The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium
5. Get Some Fresh Air and Fun During Winter
Even in winter, the Columbus area seldom becomes bitterly cold, so many trails are still enjoyable in cooler months, so long as you dress for the weather. And the cold weather opens-up some new options like sledding and, if it stays cold enough for a few days, ice skating. If you're a hard-core athlete or just looking for a relaxing diversion, Columbus has plenty to do outside, both within the city and just a short drive away.  The great part is that much of it is available year-round and is healthy fun whether you're alone or with friends and family. While you're exploring the Columbus area please visit us at Dan Tobin Chevrolet to take a look at our fantastic selection of vehicles.

6 FAVORITE BAKERIES IN COLUMBUS, OH
Tumblr media
Let's face it, very few things activate your salivary glands the way the scent of freshly baked pastries and cakes does. If you're in Columbus, OH and in search of excellent bakeries, we've got some world-class options for you to check out.
6 Favorite Bakeries in Columbus, OH
Kittie's Cakes
This Columbus favorite is located in the city's German Village and has a special treat to make your taste buds explode with joy. Katie's Cakes makes the softest, tastiest, melt-in-your-mouth cinnamon buns in the history of cinnamon bun making. We're not kidding when we say these things will change your life. Columbus Monthly magazine voted them the best in the city, but we're still waiting for a global competition to enter them in. They'd win first prize, hands down.
Patty Cake Bakery
You may hear the words “vegan bakery” and think to yourself, “Nah”. But trust us when we tell you, Patty Cake Bakery has flavorful baked goods that are just as good, if not better, than their animal product competitors. All of their ingredients are organic and sourced locally. Packaging is recyclable or biodegradable, and all of their deliveries are transported by way of bikes. Eating a baked treat from Patty Cakes makes your stomach and conscience feel good.
Omega Artisan Baking
Omega Artisan Baking is located in North Market and specializes in incredible bread, flakey croissants, and fluffy muffins. They don't use any preservatives or additives in their baking process whatsoever and offer a wide range of foods as well. But their claim to fame is their Paris-quality croissants. Just one bite and you'd think the Eiffel Tower was around the corner. They have several variations of this sweet treat, and all of them are incredibly delicious.
Resch's Bakery
Resch's Bakery is a family-owned business that has over a century's worth of generations producing world-class wedding cakes, birthday cakes, and cakes for any other occasion you can think of. Resch's also makes delectable donuts, rolls, and when Easter rolls around, hot cross buns. Oh and their apple fritters are the best we've ever tried, and most likely the best on the planet.
Belle's Bread
Have you ever been to a Japanese bakery? Neither did we, until we came across Belle's Bread. What makes this bakery so special is that it combines the art of Japanese and French baking, producing some incredible pastries and menu items we can't get enough of. We highly recommend the macaroons and the red bean roll. This should warm your palate up nicely and upon finishing them, order the cream puffs. Yes, they taste as good as they sound.
Suisse Shop
This award-winning bakery is located in the Polaris Neighborhood Center and is well known for its scrumptious cupcakes and cakes. All of the ingredients they use in their baked goods are imported from various European countries and were voted as one of the top wedding cake makers in the country. Satisfy your craving for some delicious baked goods and visit all of these fine establishments in the comfort of a high-quality vehicle. Stop by Dan Tobin Chevrolet Buick GMC today!

Where to Find the Best Chinese Food in and Around Columbus, OH
Tumblr media
Most people are well aware of the fact that Chinese food is one of the most popular international foods in the United States. For those in Ohio, the options for outstanding Chinese food are quite vast, which can make it hard to decide on a restaurant when you're hungry. In this brief guide, we will walk you through some of the top places you can go to find some of the best Chinese food in and around the Columbus, OH area.
Where to Find the Best Chinese Food in and Around Columbus, OH
Yau's Chinese Bistro
Yau's Chinese Bistro is a classic staple in the local area, and there are plenty of great reasons to visit this restaurant, especially if you are new to town. For one thing, the culinary team here upholds timeless Chinese recipes from several different regions and traditions. If you are not well-versed in all the traditions of Chinese cuisine, you don't have to worry, because the menu here is full of items that will appeal to diners of all kinds. To kickstart your meal, we suggest trying out one of the appetizers such as the Steam Pork Dumplings or the Szechuan Wontons. Those seeking an authentic Chinese group dining experience may want to go for the hot pot section of the menu which features shareable classics like Seafood Tofu hot pot and Bean Curd Stick Beef Stew. The Chef's Specials also offer some prime eating options like Mushroom Pork Feet and Sweet Corn Fish Filet.
NE Chinese Restaurant
NE Chinese Restaurant works to cater to both American and Chinese sensibilities with its large and diverse menu. If you are wary of Chinese food, then this is a great entry point as many of the dishes are mild and contemporary. For fans of more authentic Chinese cuisine, the menu is also full of plenty of great choices. We suggest dishes such as the Stir-Fried Noodles with Pork or the Peppercorn Lamb. If you have people in your group who are searching for a vegetarian meal, then NE Chinese Restaurant can accommodate them as well. Ma Po Tofu, Fried Eggplant with Soybean Paste, and Garlic Lotus Root are just a few of the dishes that are prepared without meat.
Hunan Lion
Hunan Lion closes out our list with its comprehensive offerings of modern Chinese food. The restaurant creates the perfect atmosphere for groups and those looking to share a glass of wine, beer, or a cocktail with their meal. Alcohol is intended for adults of legal drinking age only. On the dinner menu, we suggest the Mongolian Beef, the Black Pepper Steak, or the Chicken Lo Mein. With so many excellent Chinese restaurants available in the Columbus area, you may have to visit a few times just to try out all of the cuisines the city has to offer. We hope that our list of suggestions has given you some ideas on where to stop first the next time you're in the area. Contact Dan Tobin Chevrolet today to learn more about how you can find the right vehicle to meet all of your family's transportation needs.
