You are literally so valid for your feelings about that whole thing with the stancy breakup!! Especially since it is canon that she does lead Steve on for almost a year. Nancy says to Jonathan that she was waiting for him to take the move in that month cuz she wanted signs or whatever. I really don’t remember that convo but I do remember that she said she was waiting for a month after. And Jonathan needed to help Will. And Nancy just lost Barb so it’s very concerning and off putting that she put it that way. Cuz both of them were grieving and trying to fix everything in their lives so it could go back to being normal. Also yes Steve feeling like a shitty boyfriend and then her not saying anything to reassure him after that is so annoying. And does show that their problems were there from the beginning. It’s so weird to me that she says nothing after that statement while also most likely knowing that Steve was trying to be a boyfriend. But because he couldn’t be the boyfriend she wanted he wasn’t good enough. And that gets me even more cuz Steve wanted to be a better person and worked on himself: and still somehow it wasn’t enough for the person that he deeply loved. Which is also why I hate them bringing up stancy in season 4 and for Steve thanking Nancy about that bump on the head. Cuz he doesn’t believe that he would’ve changed by himself (even tho he did and I hate that people can’t see that) but instead needed someone to make him feel like shit in order to become better. I may be twisting this a bit and idk if this is the right wording so hopefully you get my drift. Literally that thank you from Steve made me feel so annoyed cuz that was all Steve’s doing about being a better person. He saw the way he was acting and didn’t like himself so he became better. And then the bathroom scene where he’s like ‘like we’re in love’ gets me everytime. Cuz he can’t believe this and he doesn’t want to. Since then it means that another person was pretending to care about him when they really didn’t. You are gonna get so pissed at this since I was too: but I saw in a fic that someone was using Jonathan to bash Steve about him being concerned over that instead of Nancy saying that they killed Barb and caring for Nancy’s every need. I shut the fic that instant and saw red and was about ready to cry cuz ummm that’s so fucked up. Steve just got told that he wasn’t loved by his fucking girlfriend and he should feel ashamed for feeling that. Anyway sorry that this got long but their relationship and the way the duffers handled it is very annoying. Hope you have a good day/night :) and hope I didn’t ruin it with that last part

the way the duffers literally ruined what both steve and nancy could’ve been (separately) with the way they have handled their relationship is literallllyyy so maddening to me i can’t handle it. there are so many things they could’ve done differently especially with season 4!!!! at this point i am reallly hoping steve wanting her back has something ANYTHING to do with the UD being stuck in 1983 and nothing to do with it being foreshadowing for a stupid ass sacrifice or something along those lines bc steve deserves the world and nancy would never give it to him

also that fic sounds like bullshit because he should also be allowed to mourn whatever the hell she did to him and process things on his own (although i don’t agree with him leaving her! but if him telling johnny to take her home is true then that is better)
