Favorite video game composers?
Oo! Not sure what prompted this ask, but I’m more than happy to share.
Olivier Deriviere - Olivier, I’ve noticed, is quite unheard of, though he has an impressive repertoire of famous games under his belt. Some of my favorite OSTs he’s done are for Remember Me and Vampyr. Other games he’s done are Greedfall, A Plague Tale: Innocence, Alone in the Dark, as well as a few others.
Tilman Silescu - Most of you may know him from the composing group, Dynamedion, which he helped found. My fave OSTs from him are The Settlers VI: Rise of an Empire, Anno 1404, and a ton of dramatic music for movie trailers.
Jerry Martin - Jerry Martin composed almost all the music for the early Sims, including Sims 1, and Simcity 3000. He helped compose the OSTs for the Sims 2 and Simcity 4 (and Simcity 4′s ost is one of my all time favorites)
Austin Wintory - A lot of you have probably heard of him, but I’d be remiss to not include him. Austin Wintory famously made the music for Journey and Abzu, but also composed the music for Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, and the Banner Saga. This man’s composition range is incredible.
Jeremy Soule - All of you have heard of him. Jeremy Soule introduced the idea of serious video game music to a lot of people (me included, back in 2002 with morrowind. Up until that point, video game music to me was just chiptunes or fun little themes) I’m pretty sure everyone knows his works, so I won’t waste time linking them lol.
Disasterpeace - One of my all time FAVORITE composers, Disasterpeace wrote the OSTs for Fez and Hyper Light Drifter. He also composed the music for the movie It Follows.
Simon Poole - I was recently introduced to him myself. He wrote the music for the Dreamfall Chapters, Draugen, and The Park.
Other composers I love (but am too lazy to link) are Trevor Morris (Dragon Age: Inquisition, Vikings, the Tudors)Twin Feathers (Aragami) Mick Gordon (Prey, Doom)Christophe Heral (Rayman Origins, Rayman Legends) Inon Zur (literally every video game ever, it feels like, more specifically Fallout 3 & 4, Dragon Age II, like a bajillion more) Jared Emerson-Johnson (ALL the Telltale Games)
and a few others. i cant remember.

Jahrhundert.
