A strange boy from another world who “transmigrated” to Twisted Wonderland. Without magic, a monster to partner with, or even being old enough to enroll, he was taken in as Crewel's assistant. He often gets caught up in the student body's troubles, however.

Known Personality Aspects

Yu's outward persona can change depending on who he is with. Around teachers and respected upperclassmen (so authority figures), he is respectful and earnest. Around close friends, he is more outspoken and brash, but also playful and encouraging. Around strangers, he is meek but affable when spoken to. So on and so forth. His behavior will change depending on how the other person treats him, however.

One thing that stays consistent is his anxiety; although he does try to hide it, his naturally cowardly nature will pop out from time to time. Because of this and his poor self-image, he is often willing to subtly use others for his own benefit if he does not/cannot do something by himself.

However, that does not negate his temper, which often comes out explosively and violently when he is pushed to his limits. In fact, his self-hatred makes his anger even more potent. Be prepared for a barrage of insults and curse words should you step out of line around Yu.

System & Other Status Effects

If you have ever read SVSSS (which I have not and don't plan on), you will recall that the transmigrating protagonist has a digital system that aids him. Yu has something similar; when there is no one around, he can access these holographic screens that inform him of upcoming missions, events, and his relationships with others. He also receives notifications related to all of the above.

Another problem he has to deal with is that after each Overblot battle, he is sort of knocked out and forced to watch the memories of the Overblotter, who also gets to see some of his memories. He doesn't really know why so he sort of just chalks it up to the System treating everything like a video game.

Trivia

Much like how the teachers have their own uniforms, Yu also has his own magic-enforced "dorm uniform." It seems to take inspiration from a Far East fairytale, where a young maiden was aided by her late mother in the form of a beautiful, golden carp. Yu wears a locket that is enchanted to switch him into his dorm uniform when he opens it.

He typically wears what looks like the standard school uniform because 1) it goes under his labcoat in the classroom due to safety procedures, and 2) it makes him stand out less.

Floyd calls him “Li'l Koi.” Other students will frequently refer to him as “the TA.”

Although he isn't a student and thus cannot really join any clubs, he frequently visits the Film Research Club.
