Transformers Reveal The Shield Solar Storm Grappel (2011)

Currently filming B-roll for a future video on Earthrise Grapple and Hoist, and along the way I found myself rediscovering a previous toy of Graps that's now a full decade old. Solar Storm "Grappel", as he was then known for trademark reasons, looks a world away from anything seen in current Transformer design in robot mode. The crane-on-the-arm is definitely cumbersome. All Grappels apparently have loose joints (very noticable on the legs on mine) and according to the Wiki some have loose plastic tags dangling off parts of the toy as well, although I can't say I've noticed that on mine. Despite having all these things working against him, he still has a sort of boxy charm.

The crane truck mode, on the other hand, is a big, beautiful chunk of cheddar, the kind of toy where if I'd owned this when I was five or six I'd have been able to have hours of fun. Even now, being considerably older, I can still appreciate the Tonka-truck-meets-TF vibe Grapple has going here.

Grapple’s part of the first wave of the Earthrise series.

Vehicle mode:

Grapple is an orange and black crane. Thank you and good night!

I mean it looks like G1 Grapple, it’s got the cab section, the half dome lights, the silver thingies on the side, the crane boom, I think it looks good.

One improvement over his G1 counterpart is that crane boom can swivel now, which is nice, though I will say that the boom itself is smaller than I would like.

The hook is meant to hang down in front of the cab, but for this toy once you collapse the boom down becomes noticeably too short. I suppose this Hasbro’s way of cost cutting, but this is actually the beginning of the problem.

Still, the crane does have, I think five 5mm ports for weapons storage and accessories, and even a clever one place above the hook so that Grapple can...well, a grapple claw (which was used once in the cartoon) and that’s pretty neat. I can dig.

All in all this is serviceable vehicle mode.

However once you compare the Earthrise version to 2011′s Solarstorm Grappel he is just really small...Please keep in mind these are BOTH voyager class figures, and just look at that size difference.

Transformation:

Transformation is a pretty simple affair with one issue. At the rear of the crane where the robot head assemble connects to the robot feet, the attachment is made by two 5mm pegs, and apparently these are likely to break if you’re not careful with them. Please keep that in mind during transformation.

Robot Mode:

As far as robot mode goes this is a really nice Grapple!

Again, what else can I say about it; it’s almost as if this toy jumped right out of the ‘The Transformers’ cartoon. His robot mode is solid, he poses well, I love the head sculpt, and i really like it!

Accessories:

Grapple comes with three accessories, a black laser gun, a silver nozzle (usually a wrist mounted weapon seen in the cartoon), and a literal grapple claw. Lastly both the gun and the nozzle can hold a blast effect as well.

Any one of these items can be plugged into any one of these 5mm ports, including the fists can swivel into the arms to reveal two wrist mounted 5mm ports for the grapple claw, and the silver nozzle. I really like this touch.

Final Thoughts:

Earthrise Grapple is a really fun figure, he looks great, but has a really underwhelming vehicle mode

I’m not going to lie I am torn about this one.

Earthrise Grapple has a really good robot mode, but as I mentioned not a fan of the crane mode, while Solarstorm Grappel (seriously Hasbro...what?) on the other hand has a great, beefy vehicle mode, but that robot mode is just alright...

If you already own the Reveal The Shield toy of...Solarstorm Grappel...then it might be okay to pass on the Earthrise version, if you’re not an absolute completionist that is.

And that’s all I got to say about that.

Transformers Blaze of war: chapter 1 power of the allspark Part 1 *The sene opens up with Hoist and Grapple battered on the ground. Starscream has beaten them up.* Starscream: It's a shame you Autobots die so easily. Maybe there would be more satisfaction if you put up a decent fight. Grapple: (Gasping for air) You... you talk to much. Starscream: Silence fool! I'm taking in the air of victory. Hoist: And the smoke of my barrel! *Hoist shoots Starscream.* Hoist: Grapple, can you move? Grapple: I've had worst, let's go. *Hoist and Grapple jump off the platform and transform. As they drive around the corner, they are greeted by Astrotrain.* Astrotrain: Hello Auto-brats! Hoist: Everywhere we go there's Decepticons. Grapple: Hoist, call for back. *Grapple Transforms* I have a feeling we're going to need it. Hoist: And what are you doing? Grapple: Holding them off. Hoist: In your condition? Starscream nearly killed you. Grapple: 'Tis but a scratch. Hoist: A scratch? Grapple: Just call for back up. Hoist: If you say so. Hoist to Optimus. I repeat, Hoist to Optimus. (At base) Optimus: Come in, Hoist. Hoist: We are in dire need of help. We're being over whelmed. Optimus: Say no more, I shall send in Springer and Hound. Just hang on tight, old friend. Hoist: I will, Prime. *Hoist and Optimus end the call. The camera shifts over to Grapple and Astrotrain fighting.* Astrotrain: Your life is over, bug! *Astrotrain kicks Grapple in the stomach, knocking him over.* Grapple: I'm not to sure about that. *Grapple gets his hand gun and shoots Astrotrain in the shoulder. Grapple gets up and starts punching Astrotrain. Astrotrain transforms into train mode which causes Grapple to collapse. Astrotrain transforms back into robot mode.* Astrotrain: (Pointing his gun at Grapple) Any last words? Grapple: Yeah, you forgot about Hoist. Astrotrain: (Confused) Huh? *Hoist jumps and Astrotrain and kicks him in the head.* Hoist: Looks like I saved your life again, Grapple. Grapple: It would've been different if I called for backup. *Hoist gets shot in the back by Starscream. Grapple catches him.* Starscream: Did you really think I would be destroyed that easily? Grapple: Where's that back up you requested? Hoist: Any second now. *Astrotrain gets up and stands along side Starscream.* Grapple: Do you want to go for the stupid one or the loud one? Hoist: Do you have the slightest idea how much that narrows it down? Grapple: Just pick either Screamer or Astro. *Shockwave lands to the side of both the Autobots.* Shockwave: What about me? *Springer and Hound arrive.* *Hound jumps ontop of Shockwave. Springer grabs Starscream and throws him into Astrotrain. Starscream looks at Springer in fright.* Springer: Leave. Starscream: Or.. or what? Springer: Something I will regret. Starscream: (Running out of options) Decepticons, retreat! *Starscream transforms and flies off with Astrotrain and Shockwave.* Springer: (Turning around to Grapple and Hoist) Are you tw okay? Hoist: We're fine. Springer: Good. But what were you doing here? Grapple: We were looking for a cube. Hound: The Allspark? Grapple: (Pointing a Hound) Yes! The Allspark thingy. Springer: Primus save us all. Grapple: Springer, why did you say that? Springer: If the Deceptions want the Allspark then we must act fast. Did you search the building? Hoist: We were about to open the door until Starscream swooped in. Springer: And you were going to leave without searching? Grapple: Indeed. We thought that our lives mattered more. Hound: (Chimming in) If Starscream got a hold of the Allspark then the entire universe could've been wiped out. Hoist: Oh... We didn't know. Springer: It's okay. We too only just found out before this rescue mission. Let's find this Allspark. *Springer, Hound, Hoist and Grapple open the doors to the ruins and walk in.* (Scene transitions to the Decepticons) Megatron: Starscream, did you locate the Allspark? Starscream: Not quite. We have located the possible building that it could be in. Megatron: Then why didn't you go inside? Starscream: We got ambushed by Autobots. Megatron: Then why did you leave when you could've overwhelmed them with fire power? Starscream: Well, you see- Megatron: Enough excuses. Shockwave, you shall return there as commander of the operation. I know you won't fail me. Shockwave: As you command, Lord Megatron. Decepticons, follow me! *Shockwave, Starscream and Astrotrain transform and fly out of the shot.* Megatron: Brunt. Brunt: Yes, Lord Megatron? Megatron: Go and find all the routes from the ruins that go to Iacon. There you should ambsuh the Autobots. Brunt: But what if I fail? Megatron: Then matters will be put into my hands. Brunt: Got it, my lord. *Brunt walks off out of the room. The camera cuts to Megatron's face.* (Transitions to Springer and the gang) *The Autobots are walking around but they can't find anything.* Hoist: It seems like this isn't the first time people have died looking for it. *The camera pans at dead bodies.* Grapple: I just want to get out of here. Just the thought of these guys gives me chills. Hound: Not to worry, we will be on our way very shortly. Grapple: Do you even know what this thing looks like other than it's a cube? Hound: No, but Springer might know. *Everyone turns to Springer.* Springer: I don't know. Just look for a cube with a mystical aura. Grapple: I would believe that the creepy aura of this room cancels out any mystical aura. Hoist: Everyone be quiet. *Everyone falls scilent.* Hound: What? Hoist: Do you hear that? Grappel: Hear what? *The wall explodes and Starscream is there.* Starscream: Us!!! *Shockwave and Starscream start to open fire as Astrotrain punches Hound and throws him into a wall. Springer jumps towards Starscream. Springer roundhouse kicks Starscream in the face, causing him to fall over. Shockwave goes to shoot Springer but Grapple hits his arm which makes him shoot Astrotrain. Hoist then shoots Shockwave.* Hound: (On the floor) Seems like you guys had all the fun. Springer: (Helping Hound up) Yeah, but it doesn't look as fun as the ride you went on with Astrotrain. Hound: (Sarcasticly) Haha, very funny. Ouch. Springer: What's the matter? Hound: When I landed on all this scrap, I got scratched by the corner of this cube thingy. Grapple: Could it be the Allspark? Springer: I don't know, but we better get it out of here just in case it is. Hoist: Alright then, it's time to transform and roll out! *Hoist, Grapple, Springer and Hound transform and drive away.* Shockwave: (On call with Megatron) Lord Megatron, they got away with the Allspark. Megatron: Don't worry, I have a plan.

So,, the Shiny Rod, aka Claiom Solais, the Sword of Light, is a powerful magic tool, seemingly with his own will who choses its owner itself.

In the series Little Witch Academia, its recent owner is the young witch Atsuko Kagari, who is tasked with finding the 7 words to unlock the True Power of the Claiom Solais and release the seal of an ancient magic.

Every word requires a task, where Atsuko must prove her worth and virtues: If sucessfull, the Claiomh Solais transforms into another, mythical tool.

1. A bow that opens portals into the leylines.2. An axe that can dispel illusions (maybe)3. A grappeling hook (rope) to pull out evil seeds of corruption.4. A mill to spread medicineNow, the last one is kind of interesting, considering the location. In Finnish mythology, there is this magical treasure, the Sampo, that is translated sometimes as a mill with three openings.  From one opening comes flour, from the second salt and from the third gold out of nothing. The mill, that the Shiny Rod turns into, also has three openings!So, maybe all of the seven forms of Shiny Rod, are actual mythical tools on their own?
