I've been walking with the little one as much as we can fit into the schedule. She loves the park. One of the big recommendations for best possible preconception with VBAC aspirations is to walk between 1 and 3 miles per day. I'm not sure if I've reached that yet, but I'm making strides (ba dum tss 🥁 😅). I've been more intentional about incorporating some scar tissue massage into my daily routine as well. I am also going to start making raspberry leaf tea daily, and am looking into some skin serum options and a liquid collagen supplement. Let's see what I can really do when I make daily, intentional choices for my health.

Can I have a vaginal birth after a caesarean section (VBAC)?
Tumblr media
Yes, it is possible to have a vaginal birth after a caesarean section (VBAC), but it depends on various factors. Here are key considerations:
1- Type of Previous Incision: The type of incision made during the previous caesarean section plays a crucial role. A low transverse incision (horizontal) is generally associated with a higher likelihood of success for VBAC compared to a vertical incision.
2- Reason for Previous C-Section: The reason for the previous caesarean section is important. If the c-section was due to a non-recurring issue, such as breech presentation, there might be a greater chance for VBAC.
3- Number of Previous C-Sections: VBAC success rates tend to be higher for women with one previous c-section compared to those with multiple c-sections.
4- Uterine Rupture Risk: VBAC is associated with a small risk of uterine rupture, where the scar from the previous c-section tears. This risk is typically low but is an important consideration.
5- Medical Monitoring: During a VBAC, continuous monitoring of the mother and baby is often required to detect any signs of complications promptly.
6- Availability of Emergency Services: Given the slight risk of complications, it's important that the hospital has the capability to provide emergency services, including an immediate c-section if needed.
7- Patient's Preferences and Comfort Level: Some women may prefer attempting VBAC for various reasons, while others may choose a repeat c-section. Personal preferences and comfort level play a significant role in the decision-making process.
It's crucial for women considering VBAC to have open and thorough discussions with their healthcare provider. The decision should be based on an individualized assessment of the woman's medical history, the specific circumstances of the previous c-section, and her preferences. Healthcare providers carefully weigh the potential benefits of VBAC against the associated risks to make informed decisions that prioritize the safety of both the mother and the baby.

Luckily, I have been taking precautions, but the allergist confirmed that I should skip TTC this month just to be 100% safe at my graded challenge.
So no January baby for us.

I'm so damn sick of looking up vbac success rates and finding websites that vaguely cite their statistics as coming from "studies". WHAT FUCKING STUDIES

Thought I was going into labor because I was in a lot of pain, but something felt… off.
Turns out not labor, just bad infection that might have spread to my kidneys and bladder 👍
Waiting on test results to be sure. So until then, no antibiotics, just suffering through it.
And NOW my body decides it’s a good time to have some painful contractions.
I swear if this kid decides to show up now, imma be pissed. It’s hard enough that I’m doing a natural birth at a birth center. I don’t need it to be extra complicated and painful too.
Thanks for coming to my Ted talk about why the universe doesn’t like me.

I have my annual obgyn appt this morning 🤮 I love my doctor very much (I see a male! And I will never not see a male, it is superior - too many bad experiences with judgey female obgyns) and he has a gold star because he was always team VBAC but it’s still just stressful.
Also it’s like 80 degrees in the waiting room????? So that’s fun.

It’s official — I’m NOT allergic to lidocaine and I’m eligible for a VBAC w/ an epidural OR a normal C-section with my husband by my side where I get to hear my child’s first cries 😭😭😭😭
I’m so grateful 🙏🏽
