Ozone injector installed. The little blue box is the ozone generator. Ozone goes through the blue tube, first going through a check valve, then through a Hartford Loop, then another check valve, then through the venturi, where water passing through pulls out ozone from the tube to take along for the ride.
I am to replace the water filters next week, as it should be full of exploded cells. That’s what ozone does to cells.

Summary, Week 12
Computers have, in one form or another, been around for a very long time. Mechanisms like the Antikythera mechanism, or the Curta calculator show that our ability to use devices to extend our mathematical abilities and understand, interpret, and record complicated realities has been with us for centuries. During World War 2, mechanical computing devices took huge steps forward to help break codes. The Harvard Mark 1, developed at this time, was in non-stop operation from 1944 through 1959. Vacuum tubes replaced gears, and then transistors replaced vacuum tubes, and then circuit boards came along to refine the technology into what we now recognize as computing.
Electronics created problems for designers, as time-honored thinking about the relationship between form and function no longer applied. With function being dematerialized, designers struggled to find new considerations for form language like emotion and narrative and even humor. "Product Semantics" is the fancy term we use to talk about this effort to infuse design with layers of narrative in the absence of mechanical constraints. The use of electronics was easy to find in toys in the late 1970's. As circuit boards transformed other objects, designers began to realize the importance of operational sequences, and new kinds of interfaces that could explain the mysterious operations of a screen-and-button object.
Because design began to be more focused on external form, designers became known for their personal, sculptural form sensibilities. From the Memphis movement in the early 1980s to the Alessi Coffee and Tea Piazza series to Philippe Starck in the 1990s to Marc Newson and Ross Lovegrove today, the era of the Celebrity Designer was born.
Computers challenged designers' abilities to house electronics in designed objects with some sort of logic. They also allowed a new approach to design with the introduction of CAD and CAM systems. Early CAD setups were expensive and limited, and as a result useful in only a few environments. As personal computers became more sophisticated in the 1980s, more professions began to develop computer assisted design tools. When Hollywood began creating 3D animations, putting skins over the wire form drawings, and creating controlled lighting effects, CAD began to resemble what we still use today for design. Because CAD software is inherently math-based, designers were (and still are to a lesser extent) forced to compromise their form language and arrive at a frequently clumsy hybrid of personal expression and geometry.
In a fevered attempt to end with an example of design gone RIGHT, I crashed the class into Smart Design and OXO. Sam Farber spent a lifetime in kitchenware design (Farberware, Copco). His last company was OXO, founded to distribute ergonomic kitchen tools designed in partnership with Smart Design. This was, and continues to be, a happy and successful combination of everything we looked at this semester. Now it is your turn…

Maximizing Pump Efficiency: The Role of Priming Ejector in Industrial Operations
Maximizing Pump Efficiency: The Role of Priming Ejector in Industrial Operations
Des -In the realm of industrial pumping systems, achieving optimal efficiency is paramount for maximizing productivity and minimizing downtime. One crucial component that plays a significant role in enhancing pump performance is the priming ejector. In this article, we delve into the importance of priming ejectors, including the Priming Ejector and Ejector Priming Unit, and their impact on pump efficiency across various industries.
Understanding Priming Ejectors: Priming ejectors, also known as pump priming ejectors, are devices designed to remove air and gases from pump systems, ensuring proper priming and preventing cavitation. They work by creating a vacuum within the pump casing, allowing air and gases to be expelled, thereby facilitating the smooth operation of the pump.
Priming Ejector vs. Ejector Priming Unit: While the terms "priming ejector" and "ejector priming unit" are often used interchangeably, they refer to slightly different components. Priming ejectors typically refer to standalone devices that are installed in conjunction with pumps to facilitate priming. On the other hand, ejector priming units are integrated systems that combine the pump priming ejector with other components, such as valves and control systems, for a more comprehensive priming solution.
Tumblr media
Key Components and Operation: Priming ejectors typically consist of a nozzle, diffuser, and venturi tube. When fluid flows through the nozzle, it creates a low-pressure zone in the venturi tube, drawing air and gases from the pump casing and expelling them through the diffuser. This process effectively primes the pump and ensures smooth operation without the risk of cavitation.
Enhancing Pump Efficiency: The primary function of priming ejectors is to enhance pump efficiency by removing air and gases from the system. Air pockets in the pump casing can lead to cavitation, which can cause damage to pump components and reduce overall efficiency. By ensuring proper priming, priming ejectors help prevent cavitation and optimize pump performance.
Versatility Across Industries: Priming ejectors find applications across a wide range of industries, including water treatment, oil and gas, chemical processing, and agriculture. In water treatment plants, for example, priming ejectors are used to prime pumps for transferring water between treatment processes. In the oil and gas industry, they are employed in pump systems for well dewatering and fluid transfer operations.

Day of Invention- The story of TOOB TOSS!
It was Sept 5th, I am living in an efficiency apartment in Etna PA. My finance and I broke up earlier in the year and I am in a place that is directly across the street from where her and I lived together, She has since moved away, which has made life way easier for me. My cousin Bobby Lee is up from WV to visit with her son Mathew and his cousin from his dad’s side Kevin. So, it is hot out and we were bored. So, while Bobby cleaned out her Honda element, Kevin, Mathew, and I started to throw around a football. I notice that Mathew is “shot putting” the football to me instead of throwing it normal with a spiral. Kevin and I were surprised this 15-year-old boy could not throw a football. I asked Mathew “didn’t anyone teach you how to throw a football” and to my surprise he said no, and that he spends all his time hunting and fishing. I told Mathew imagine the threads on the football are a fish and your hand is the bigger fish eating the smaller fish, that is the football. After I explained it to him this way, Mathew threw a spiral right to me. After about an hour of that my arm was like spaghetti noodle. We were hungry so we ordered a pizza to have it delivered. And we played Hacky Sack until the pizza arrived. Once the pizza arrived we had few slices, and then Mathew points out to me how cool his moms pop up trash can for her car is. And compresses it and lets it pop up into the air, I said ”that’s pretty cool, let me see that” so I pop it to see if it will fly through the air. I notice the bottom is impeding its flight causing it to flip over and act like a kite, it would not fly correctly. So, I ask Bobby if I can ruin her pop trash can for her car, she responds “what, why?” I ask her how much was it, she responds with “I don’t know 5 or 6 bucks” I said OK here is a 10, and I go upstairs take a razor blade and cut a hole in the bottom of the trash can and for the next 3 hours Mathew, Kevin and I try to pop this spring tube onto a fence post. And I say “This is a game” they all look at me and say “what do mean” I say think about it, we threw football, then played hacky sack, and we are spring flinging. Or something like that.
So over the next 2 or 3 days I went and purchased some more pop trash cans, 2 more. I took those 2 and put pink duct tape on the end, to give it some wait and create a reverse venturi through the center of the TOOB to stabilize it inflight when you through it. So I had to think of a better name that “spring fling”. I started with the name TOOB-IT and you can play three games with TOOB-IT, TOOB TOSS, TARGET TOOB & TOOB TAG. Well, TOOB-IT sounded too much like “too bit” so I settled on TOOB TOSS. Now after I filed and obtained my patent. Not much happened over the next few years. But TOOB TOSS was not was it is now. It was made of all fabric and only flew about 15 to 20 feet at the furthest. So, during this time I had moved in with my new girlfriend and her 3 children. The oldest daughter was 15 years old being a brat and we were arguing , and I said something like me and your mother will get rich off my invention. And before I could finish being a 15 year old girl she said “your toy really sucks, make it better” and I am standing there with nothing to say. Because she was right. So over the next few months I redesigned it to what it is now, I have to but a 3D printer and make a foam end mold, because I had to see if I could get it to fly correctly and far enough. Now TOOB TOSS has in flight correction feature that I didn’t plan on. That makes it difficult to have a bad throw. And with is ergonomic design and ease of use makes TOOB TOSS fun safe and soft for all ages. And TOOB TOOS now flies 30 to 60 yards. And is throw & catch fun for the entire family. TOOB TOSS is a registered trademark, and a patented product.

I Frijda - Aria
Tumblr media
