What is Ankara - do you know? . It has been commonly known as an 'African print', 'African wax print', 'Holland wax' and 'Dutch wax print'. . Like this skirt, they are usually done on 100% cotton fabric and delight the eye with vibrant patterns and colour. . Although it is often associated with the African culture, it’s origins are not authentically and wholly African. The wax prints started out as mass-produced imitations of Indonesian batik fabric and today are used by designers such as the well known Duro Olowu, Stella McCartney as well as Thulare Monareng and J.W. Anderson (to name a few). .
