Man, I love happy aus where somehow the dance is avoided, but when ever I think of it I'm always reminded of how young the kid characters are. Like even aegons only 20 and he's the oldest. No one got to grow up or age past young adult.

It really makes u wonder how they'd have changed over the years. What they'd look like, how'd they grow as people if given the chance.

I want to know how aegon would deal with his own kids if they grew into teens like he was. Would aemond be nervous/ over protective if he ended up having a kid that was as obsessed with dragons as he was? How would he react if their dragon egg didn't hatch? Would Haelena try and have her daughter marry for love? Do the Strong boys end up looking even more like Harwin as they age? How would they feel about that?

I just want to see how these people would change and mature if they'd been given the chance.

there was something that really made me laugh about the "Do the Strong boys end up looking even more like Harwin as they age?" question because it almost sounds like drug commercial lol

but yeah, i imagine it's normal to think of what would have been if the dance hadn't happened. it is after all a bloody civil war that almost wipes everyone out

tbh i think it really depends how the dance is avoided. either rhaenyra is named heir and nobody challenges her and she and alicent get along better and the kids grow closer to rhaenyra and they're all one semi happy semi dysfunctional family

or aegon is crowned king and rhaenya accepts the peace terms and caraxes eats daemon or something

kidding

i think there would be a need for a change in the relationship between alicent and aegon and otto and aegon for aegon to become more present in his family. and either he stays a drunk absent father who doesn't hate his children but who's absence causes them harm anyway or has a revelation that he doesn't want to turn into some kind of viserys and actually does more to be present as a father at least if not a husband too

i think aegon, aemond, helaena and daeron would all look at the twins and maelor and it'd remind them of themselves as teens. it'd be kinda wholesome

i think aemond would def be quite protective of their own kid, but not about dragons. that man would take his 1 year old baby and give them a ride on vaghar. it's sorta like you can trust me and my bond with my pet but other people stay tf away. mostly because there's just a limited number of people he trusts since he saw that even his sister showed contempt for him. so if he's with the ones he trusts, he's relaxed (tho he is the kind of dad who always keeps his eye on his kid just to be sure of where they are). definitely think he'd be super excited to pick an egg for his kid (esp since he and his siblings didn't have one) and he'd be super excited to see it hatch and see the bonding process between his kid and the dragon baby <3

the idea that halaena would want her daughter to marry for love really hit me. i think maybe she'd want that for all of her kids, but there would be something personal about her daughter. that would be nice. a change finally.

i'll be honest, i didn't read the books so i know nothing about this dynamic other than what i've seen on here and it's very little but i am intrigued about the idea of aegon iii and jaehaera navigating life together as two traumatized children (tho idk much about aegon iii), but at the same time i hate this idea because imagine being married to the son of the man who killed your twin and destroyed your family. that sounds horrible i reckon it's hard not to think it when you look at them. but again idk anything about this dynamic. like anything.

tbh i'd think if there wasn't any dance they wouldn't have been so upset about it. jacaerys seemed okay with it and wanted to attend his father's funeral. like in the dance it matters because lucerys is realizing that he is in fact getting a seat that's quite not his.

okay it’s taylor time: evermore edition. some are shorter cause I kept hitting the character limit

willow: steddie, from eddie’s pov. "Rough on the surface, but you cut through like a knife" and how they both almost instantly got along. "The more that you say, the less I know" and realizing this idea of "King Steve" Eddie had was completely wrong. "Wherever you stray, I follow" "Life was a willow, and it bent right to your wind" Steve "rich kid" Harrington. "Like you were a trophy or a champion ring" our favorite jock. "Show me the places where the others gave you scars" Imagine Steve and Eddie going on walks in the woods together after season 4 and Steve telling Eddie all the past stories. "Every bait-and-switch was a work of art" and Steve's way of flirting is to act uninterested.

champagne problems: Stancy, from Nancy's pov. I know I say every breakup song is Stancy, but c'mon. Let's be real here. Replace the proposal with the Halloween fight and champagne with punch and it's literally season 2. "I dropped your hand while dancing, left you out there standing crestfallen on the landing" "Your heart was glass, I dropped it" "You had a speech, you're speechless" "This dorm was once a madhouse. I made a joke 'Well, it's made for me'" paired with "She could have made such a lovely bride. What a shame she's fucked in the head" and the fact Nancy was dealing with her trauma during season 2 and was likely feeling very mentally unwell due to that. I also think Nancy feels a lot of anger and fears that she's "crazy" in the sense of what to do with said anger.

gold rush: Steve thinking about King Steve. Steve sees himself as separate to King Steve, I think. Like King Steve was a character that he was playing, feeling like a fraud. He hates it, but everyone loved him. "Everybody wants you, but I don't like a gold rush." "What was it be like to grow up that beautiful? With your hair falling into place like dominoes?" "I call you out on your contrarian shit" and Steve actively showing he's no longer that person, showing he's changed. "Had never seen a love as pure as it, and then it fades into the gray of my day-old tea" and Steve blaming his King Steve side for what happened with Nancy.

'tis the damn season: Jancy, from Jonathan's pov. I want them to get in a huge fight in season 5. Imagine Jonathan comes home for the holidays and tries to win her back. "The road not taken looks real good now" "It always leads to you in my hometown" "I escaped it too, remember how you watched me leave." "You could call me babe for the weekend" "Sleep in half the day, just for old times' sake" and them almost being late to work season 3 cause they would sleep in. "Wonder about the only soul who can tell which smiles I'm faking"

tolerate it: El and Mike. I'm ignoring the age gap part of this song because (luckily) it doesn't match anyone in the show, however, the rest DOES match this situation. "I sit and watch you" and El observing everything in season 1. "if it's all in my head, tell me now. Tell me I've got it wrong somehow. I know my love should be celebrated, but you tolerate it." and the season 4 fight. "While you were out building worlds, where was I?" You can't convince me season 4 Mike wouldn't blow off El for Hellfire if she didn't move. "Where's the man who'd throw blankets over my barbed wire?" and how Mike was so insistent she wouldn't hurt them in season 1. "Now I'm begging for footnotes in the story of your life." "Drawing hearts by the byline"

no body, no crime: Karen and Joyce. I think they were best friends before everything with the Upside Down happened, through Will and Mike. I could see this being about Lonnie or Ted. I'm choosing to pretend this song is just about cheating and not the husband murdering his wife here. But I think Karen is deeply unhinged and we just never get to see it. I need to see her go crazy. I also wouldn't put it past either of them to murder the others husband if he cheated.

happiness: Nancy about Barb. "They'll be happiness after you, but there was happiness because of you." Honestly, this entire chorus. Even after the monsters and the terror and being haunted by what happened, Nancy has fought her way to some kind of happiness. "I hope she'll be a beautiful fool who takes my spot next to you" about saying goodbye to the girl she used to be and letting go of that version of her. "You haven't met the new me yet." "There is happiness in our history. Across our great divide, there is a glorious sunrise dappled with the flickers of light." Happiness in their memories and the divide being life and death. The lights being the Christmas lights.

dorothea: Robin and Steve!!! Platonic, of course. But like, if Robin goes out of town for college : ( "Making a lark of the misery" I just know they'd be so sad without each other. "This place is the same as it ever was, but you don't like it that way" "It's never too late to come back to my side...And if you're ever tired of being known for who you know, you know you'll always know me" "Skipping the prom, just to piss off your mom" They definitely just had a movie night during Robin's prom.

coney island: Lumax. "If this is the long haul, how'd we get here so soon?" They both want it to last forever. "Did I close my wrist around something delicate? Did I shatter you?" Max worried about her trauma bringing down the group, Lucas worried to even tell Max about the Upside Down so she wouldn't get hurt, only to hold her as she was possibly dying. "Sorry for not making you my centerfold" They're both dealing with a lot; albeit, various degrees of seriousness. But they haven't gotten to be there for each other. "I pushed you to the edge but you were too polite to leave me" Max things she's too much for a relationship. "Do you miss the rogue who coaxed you into paradise and left you there?" I see Max casted as a rogue if she ever played DnD. "Sorry for not winning you an arcade ring" "Did I paint you bluest skies the darkest grey?" "The sight that flashed before me was your face" and Max seeing the dance to help her break away from Vecna.

ivy: Jopper. "I'd meet you where the spirit meets the bone in a faith-forgotten land" reuniting due to the Upside Down. "I just sit here and wait, grieving for the living" Joyce immediately went for it, the moment she thought he could be alive. "My pain fits in the palm of your freezing hand" Russia, also Joyce is definitely anemic. "I can't stop you putting roots in my dreamland" Joyce has tried to move on from Hopper multiple times. "The fatal flaw that makes you long to be magnificently cursed" and Hopper thinking he's the curse.

cowboy like me: Steddie. "Telling all the rich folks anything they wanna hear" "Hustling for the good life" Steve is the constant sports to get into a good school, Eddie is selling drugs to get some more money. "The ladies lunching have their stories about...before I locked it down" "Your boots beneath my bed"

long story short: Ronance. "I tried to pick my battles 'til the battle picked me" and the Upside Down. Nancy picked school, Robin picked staying in the closet. "Clung to the nearest lips, long story short, it was the wrong guy" "I always felt I must look better in the rear view" I think Robin has lost a lot of close friends that was closer to situationships. "We live in peace, but if someone comes as us... I'm ready" Nancy. "No more keeping score" and Nancy being jealous in season 4.

marjorie: Dustin about Eddie. I'm sorry. "All your...backlogged dreams and how you left them all to me"

closure: Byler. "Staying friends would iron it out so nice" "The sea you put between you and me"

RNM 2x06 - Sex and Candy

EPISODE SUMMARY:

Maria’s (Heather Hemmens) investigation into her mother’s disappearance leads her and Alex (Tyler Blackburn) to the home of a mysterious boot maker named Travis (guest star David Anders). Meanwhile, on her journey of self-discovery, Isobel’s (Lily Cowles) night out leads her into the arms of someone unexpected. Finally, after making some major scientific strides, Liz (Jeanine Mason) is dealt a devastating blow. Geoff Shotz directed the episode written by Rick Montano & Vincent Ingrao (#206). Original airdate 4/20/2020.

DETAILS:

Max and Isobel's fight:

Lights start flickering when Max starts getting aggressive and then get brighter as he gets more worked up.

The first attempt to expel it seemed like he was causing an earthquake. He blew out all the windows in the gym, knocked Isobel down, and there was shaking. But it didn't seem to go beyond that room - no damage is seen when Michael arrives or around town.

Note, after the earthquake thingie the lights go out

His hands are doing the electric power thingie and THEN he also grabs the lightning.

I think Isobel used her telekinesis to stop it and then push it away, which seemed to work...but if so then why couldn't Noah do that last season?

Was it the sheer volume of electricity? There was definitely MORE than with Noah.

Michael uses his telekinesis to manually reset Max's heart. This is very smart of him. Note that he's using his own heart/pulse to get it right.

They are using the antidote to Liz's serum to try to heal Max's mind.

Michael says that they've been giving him antidote injections for three days (time jump).

Three days of antidote and no new memories for Max.

Isobel remembered her blackouts within a few hours of getting injected with the antidote in 1x10.

Note: Liz hesitated using the antidote this way in 1x10 because Isobel could still be dangerous and they didn't know about the 4th Alien yet. There doesn't seem to be a similar hesitation with Max. Because Liz trusts him more? Because him forgetting her is more personal? It's not like there isn't a chance that Max is still dangerous…

Maria arranged a Mexican market in the Pony parking lot to subsidize her income.

Buffy the Beagle is Forrest's dog!

Maria comments that the meteor shower makes animals act strange. And humans too.

Forrest and Maria are organizing an open night mic at the Wild Pony. Free drinks for performers.

Maria clearly approves of Forrest and Alex getting to know each other. She smacks Alex for his awkward flirting.

The bootmaker's farm is about an hour outside of town.

The Science:

Kyle and Steph are watching a "surgical separation of craniopagus twins".

Craniopagus Twins = twins attached at the cranium/head. (Aka not a heart surgery).

"Did you know, ever since 1947, twin births in Roswell are higher than the national average? Maybe it's aliens."

Speaking of awkward flirting…. "You're just my favorite person I can't stand."

The Spanish:

Le cambio una bolsa de chiles para mi papá...for the free fries next time you come to the Crashdown.

Liz is bartering. She says basically, I'll trade you a bag of chiles for my papa for free fries next time you come to the Crashdown.

Note, the captions for this are wrong and use the Spanish word for grasshoppers instead, but you can clearly hear Liz say chiles. Thanks to @rosaortecho for pointing that out to me.

Max says:

I'm trying to eat clean. Uh, tiene carne seca sin como se dice, preservativos.

He's trying to say, basically, does the jerky have preservatives.

Quiere carne a sin preservativos?

Basically, you want meat without condoms?

Lo siento. Uh, no lo entiendo.

I'm sorry, I don't get it.

Él quiere decir conservantes.

He means preservatives.

Michael asks Max who he's texting. Max says everyone has been messaging him but Cameron is the only one who hasn't responded, which isn't like her.

Wildly curious who he was texting though. It's not like he's a social butterfly. His mom? The sheriff? Who? As I pointed out to some friends the other day, he spent his 21st birthday getting trashed with his SISTER. This is not a trait of a guy with lots of close friends.

Just as another note, Michael says he ghosted her. When exactly was that? Yes, Max ran out on her in the middle of a handy in 1x03, but they addressed that the next day. She "broke up" with him in 1x07, but they were still good right up until she left town.

Isobel:

"Does he seem different to you?"

Alex and Maria playing "Never have I Ever" in the car. Good way to do background on characters.

Maria has never cheated on a boyfriend

Alex has never been in a real relationship. Not even "Kellie Sommer-something".

Alex says that whenever he was with a woman he was trying to disappear. Except for Sophomore year after Battle of the Bands. Seven Minutes in Heaven in Haley Moore's hall closet. Alex and Maria kissed and it was Maria's first kiss (and boob graze). She always thought she'd marry Alex. Had to come up with a new plan after he came out.

Alex says "I did too."

"Kissing you in that closet was the first time in my life that I enjoyed touching someone."

Max picks up Liz for their first date…

Just as a note, Save Tonight was the opening song in the pilot of OG Roswell. During the "oh, Max Evans is staring at you again." exchange between Liz and Maria. So, it might go well with new beginnings or something ;-)

The Science:

"Psychogenic amnesia limits retrieval of stored memories, but if we light up your limbic system and gustatory cortex with some familiar signals…"

"Your milkshake might bring all my memories to the yard?"

**Note, second reference to this song in the context of Liz bringing Max milkshakes. First was in 1x06 by Isobel. Hmm. 1x06 and 2x06… maybe they should crack this joke in 3x06 too.

"Sometimes when people wake up from comas they have different personalities, different tastes even…"

Everything you ever wanted to know about psychogenic amnesia:

But, my main takeaway is that it's a specific type of amnesia where there's abnormal memory function but no brain damage or other clear cause of it.

Limbic system:

Basically the part of your brain that stores emotion, behavior, and long term memory.

Gustatory cortex:

Basically the part of your brain that processes taste.

Maria compares Michael to Chad because he starts fights and lies. Alex disagrees and lists ways that he was doing good things:

He lied to protect his family from Alex's family.

He shouldered the burden of a murder he didn't commit for ten years so that Isobel didn't have to.

He pushed Maria away to protect her - which might be a good thing too because of all his baggage.

First Date:

Max went to Ranch camp one summer and dislocated his shoulder while trying to read Lord of the Rings on horseback. #nerd.

Liz references the gala as not their first date, but there was also the desert in high school. I guess she doesn't count that either.

Side note: Cam and Liz talked about him peacocking in 2x03, but that kinda felt out of character at the time to the Max we knew. This Max DOES seem like he's peacocking a bit. Got dressed up, taking Liz horseback riding. He admitted to trying to one up whatever they did together before. Just an interesting (to me) observation.

Liz looks panicky when Max suggests truth serum (because Science!Liz probably could make truth serum), but once she realizes he means whiskey she's like, "oh yes, that's fine." Oh Liz…

Diego details:

They were engaged just last year

Liz left without saying goodbye

Bioengineer

They were working together on the Denver study

They would come home and keep talking about work

He had ideas to help improve it

They both spoke The Science

He pushed her to get better at The Science

When the funding was cut she realized she loved the work more than him

Liz couldn't figure out how tell him that so she packed her things in the middle of the night, hit the road, changed her phone, and blocked him on Facebook.

**This is the first time LIZ has mentioned social media. Interesting given the crap Maria keeps giving her about it!

Travis and fresh warm milk. What is up with it??

"Nice ring. Does it keep you from burning up in the daylight?"

David Anders introduces himself as Travis.

Just as a point of interest, Maria researched enough to find the bootmaker, figure out where he lives, but she didn't get his name???

Vampire Diaries/Originals reference.

Travis says he can't help with car stuff.

The milk was from a cow named Jennifer. He milked her for the last time today. (Creepy).

Weird contradictory statements from Travis:

"You're the best thing I've seen in a long time."....

"Mm, I'm sorry. So many customers and all their ugly faces get all sewn up and stitched together in my mind."

"Yeah, that's the woman that bought them boots. While back. Nice lady. She paid cash."

Second reference to animals behaving strangely during a meteor shower:

"Meteor shower's got my girls singing a bit off key tonight. Jennifer, she likes a good lullaby."

"Okay this guy is going to turn us into skin suits." (OG reference? Or just general sci-fi?)

Meteorchella at Planet 7 (Coachella-style party during meteor shower?) with any excuse to add sparkles!

Kyle says he's at Planet 7 because he's trying not to hang out with people from high school.

Isobel says she's trying to have fun without feeling like prey.

Don't think the details of Kyle/Isobel dancing matters all that much, but as a point of amusement I'll share that in the panel on Tuesday night they shared that Lily whispered something different to Trevino on every take...And they got progressively dirtier to the point that she finally felt like she crossed a line and profusely apologized. Also the lick was a Lily addition.

Max's confession about killing the drifter:

Kind of an interesting thing, comparing the first version of the drifter story in 1x06 to the 2x06 version. 1x06 was more dramatic, but 2x06 was more personal, I think.

1x06

"There are moments that define our lives, and there are moments that divide our lives. Incidents that separate us into two different people: who we were before and who we will be after. Forever…One day we were children and the next we were something else. I was a killer. Michael an accomplice. And Isobel...Isobel was broken."

2x06

"I killed a man once, on a camping trip. This drifter came out of nowhere, attacked Isobel. I wasn't even thinking. I killed him. With this. I arrest people who kill people. Most of them usually regret what they did. You know, you can just tell that they're forever broken. It's like a piece of them dies with their victims. So when I could feel that darkness, like I had to kill, I wanted Isobel to let me die. Because I couldn't risk hurting even one innocent person. Cause life just wouldn't be worth living."

Kind of an interesting narrative choice to confess to murder on a first date and then have the girl just brush it aside.

"No, it just hit me why you're so happy and idealistic, and I feel like an idiot. You are that way because you don't remember me. It's a clean slate. It's like when you got out of the pods with whatever memories you had erased it's probably for your own good."

"Last I heard you were the love of my life."

"Your cohorts, they left out some details. Cause if you had your memories I'm positive the worst thing that's ever happened to you is connected to me. And I can't bear the weight of making you remember that again."

**Note, second time this has been implied. Last time was by Michael in 1x08 regarding the alien symbol.

"...it's gotta have some connection to us right? Maybe it was something we saw somewhere before the crash."

"Sorry, are you, Max Evans, acknowledging that we must have had lives before we hatched out of the pods? You never want to talk about home."

"Hey, Roswell is home. Look, I'm sorry man. You're right. I've spent a lot of time not talking about where we come from or why we're here. Keep thinking I can pretend the past away and just be normal. But if Isobel's blackouts are some alien thing, then I need to know more. Okay, and this symbol? That's all I have to go on. I mean don't you think it's strange that we don't have any memories? I mean, no parents, no language. We weren't infants, man. We were seven."

"I just figured our memory faded. Over 50 years in those pods. Maybe it was just time. Or maybe whoever put us in those pods doesn't want us to remember."

Travis and Trevor's house...with added bonus of his ring that Alex comments on.

Leather ribbons/strips on the wall are for (from?) Hayley and Gertrude. More cows, I presume.

There's also a framed Purple Heart on the wall next to a photo of Travis?

"War really messes with a man's mind. Gets it all twisted up.

Timeline issue!! Alex says Mimi was missing for 3 weeks, but according to the clearly established timelines in 201-203 it was 4 weeks (or a month ish). I wrote about this here:

Maria put her jacket on a scarecrow to trick Travis. And did she leave it there?

(Answer: yes. She doesn't wear it for the rest of the episode. Smart of her, actually).

Michael sees Trevor come out of the house and is about to shoot him. Maria immediate knew it wasn't Travis and threw herself in front of Michael's gun

Trevor shoots Travis.

A bullet from the Crashdown shooting falls out of Max's journal. Does it look like it has blood on it? Or maybe just ketchup? If it's THE bullet it would make a lot of sense that he kept it hidden - evidence that Liz was shot. See this comparison between one of Wyatt's bullets in 1x02 and the one Max finds in 2x06

"Sorry about my twin here. He's had a rough go."

"Combat does not make you an axe murderer."

"No, it wasn't the combat. It was the R&D. If a paramilitary group ever asks you to take part in a study, you run the other way. He showed up a few weeks ago. Locked me up out back. Lucky y'all showed up when you did. Gave me a chance to escape."

R&D is a military acronym for Research and Development. (Aka...The Science.)

Priscilla - the cow Mimi's boots were made from.

This is literally the only direct information gained about the boots from this little sleuthing excursion.

Well, and that Mimi paid cash, which isn't like her.

Side note - I didn't really know what Paramilitary meant, so just in case any of you are also not good with military stuff, Paramilitary groups are like private armies. Like, I dunno, the private security firm that Jesse and Cam discussed in episode 2x04. 👀

Male doctor operating on Steph clearly states:

"All right we're approaching an arterial junction."

A female doctor replies and its less clear. What I hear is...Blood gasses are back? Anyone else hear something that makes more sense than that?

He replied something like...the stint through here

She says something about pH levels.

Max admits that he didn't know what would happen when he decided to bring Rosa back. He just wanted to fix the worst thing that ever happened to all of them.

"I can't believe we were Shyamalan'd by an evil twin."

I think Alex is referring to the twist ending? Or maybe just the insane axe murderer stuff.

M. Night Shyamalan wrote and directed the Sixth Sense, Signs, Split, etc…

During this scene is the first time we see Michael's tattoo… it's on his arm. I struggled with getting a cap of it, but I know there are gifs going around.

I had every intention of detailing the dialogue in the trailer scene, but before I could get to it, Carina posted the script, so I didn't think it was a good use of my time. Here's the script:

The next morning, Alex calls the Sheriff from outside the trailer for an update.

The Sheriff tells him that Travis and Trevor burned their home and ran...weren't caught by the sheriff. Which means we may not have seen the last of them.

The Spanish:

"Oh my God. Dios mio, Max. I took off your pants before I even said I love you. I'm some kind of zorra."

Dios mio basically is Oh My God! So Liz really was spiraling. She went, "Oh my God, Oh my God..."

Zorra - female version of Zorro. Basically a vixen, bitch, prostitute… the internet has all sorts of fun words that it translates into.

"I call this one Visceral Werewolf Part 2, dedicated to my boy Chee Chee, may he rest in peace."

Can we have more Bert? Bert is the best. Also kudos to his goofy friend who is wayyy too excited about this.

Forrest's slam poem:

Young Max, chained to the ground as described in 2x03.

Max looks scared.

He's dressed all in white like the 1947 aliens after the crash (As shown in 1x12 and 2x03).

He's in a cave or something like a cave.

Holes in the wall are glowing an orangey red color.

The ceiling is like the alien ship material with the alien symbol in it.

A figure approaches from behind him, bends down, and places a hand on his shoulder.

The Prince of Darkness.

Definitely not the person you would have expected to develop a crush on you. I mean, after all, you were nothing but a simple mewman girl with limited powers. You were a late bloomer, as the rest of your friends had already seemed to be exceeding at their gifts. Especially your best friend, Eclipsa Butterfly.

It was actually through Eclipsa that you met Globgor. And wow, you would never be able to forget the way he froze as soon as he laid his four eyes on you. You could practically hear his heart about to beat out of his chest, but back then, you thought you were just hearing things. You and Globgor really hit it off, much to Eclipsa's glee as her royal duties began requiring more of her time, leaving more time for you to be alone. Unfortunately, Globgor never really came close to you after your mother found out you had been in kahoots with a supposed mewman-eating monster.

But you didn't think Globgor was a monster.

Even though you had only met him a couple of times in person, you had already felt a pull towards him. You felt this ache in your chest every time you were without him. Longing every time you passed by his home to go inside and see if you could find him one more time, all that you could think about for quite some time was getting to know him. You knew it was frowned upon - a mewman and a monster? Ha! You would be shunned, maybe even banished from Mewni!

But that knowledge didn't fill the aching pit in your chest.

Every time you tried to leave the house, your mother would refuse, knowing you would try to go to his home again, unless you were going to the Butterflys of course. And as time went on, you begin to feel the flame inside you die out slowly for him, until you rarely ever thought of him more than once a day.

Your days became your regular routine; magic practice, studies, more magic practice (as was required for "ungifted" girls like you as the Headmistress of your school so graciously labelled you), and then a small window of free time before lights out.

Only, things weren't quite the same for the young Prince of Darkness himself. You see, he was just a young little thing, sort of going through his own process of Mewberty in which his size-shifting would initiate on behalf of his emotions, causing him to be rather dangerous to society. The very second he got too happy or excited, he'd grow taller than the mountains. And when he got sad or nervous, he'd shrink small enough to stand on someone's shoulder. But the thought of you and the way you bashfully smiled at the ground drove him crazy. He went nuts without being able to see you, so he made it part of his daily routine to watch you from afar whenever he got the chance. He would watch you as you practiced your magic out in your backyard, loving the stubbornness and dedication you had to learning how to strengthen your capabilities.

He wished he had the same fire in your eyes as you did.

Globgor would also watch you from afar at your school. He was incredibly envious of your friends, for they got to see you and talk to you everyday. He would kill just to be able to touch you. But, like I said, a mewman and a mewman-eating monster just wasn't a match made in heaven.

He began to get distracted at home too, never once being able to finish a meal because of the butterflies filling his stomach. Little did he know you had had the same problem until you finally gave up. Which was probably why you were so oblivious to him watching you, because there were multiple times where his heart began beating so fast that he shrunk so much he fell off of the tree he was sitting in above you or grew so tall that he smacked into the school building and hid behind it before you could see him.

Many other students were scarred for life from that day.

But his most favorite time of the day was when you were completely alone, free of all the magic practices and the schoolwork. You would calmly sit by the edge of the water your family lived by and watch as the sun set, casting beautiful colors across the sky. You would sit there for hours, just thinking. And he would watch you from afar, just in awe with how incredible you were. Of course, he wanted to go up to you. He wanted to talk to you so bad, to tell you how he felt like he knew you so well from all the times he watched you!

Okay, maybe leave out the "watching you" bit, he thought to himself.

Because whether either of you wanted to admit it or not, you two had such a strong connection - one that sometimes even soulmates don't get to have. You had just found a way to limit the amount of butterflies that rose in your belly whenever his name floated across your mind in the mornings... and at night... and during the day...

And right now, as you gaze hopelessly at the setting sun, thinking about everything and nothing at the same time. Playing a blade of grass in your fingers, you let out a small sigh, not knowing that Globgor was watching you from the tree he was hiding in. You were so beautiful, he thought. So beautiful and talented and stubborn and amazing and just so fucking adorable.

If only others could see it.

If only YOU could see it.

Ugh, he ughed (😭). If only he could touch you. If only he could talk to you again. But he knew better than to try that, of course. He felt his self esteem begin to lower as his heart drooped. Of course you would never be with someone like him. A mewman eating monster? Why would you? Who ever said you felt what he felt the day you met? The sparks?

From these horrid thoughts, he didn't notice when his body began to shrink all the way down to a blade of grass. Losing his balance on the branch he had been on, panic filled his brain as he free fell from the tree, landing in a heap on the ground, right next to... your leg.

SHIT. Was the only word running through his mind as he gazed up at your beautiful face, enchanted with the sun set. Please don't see me, he thought. Please don't see me!

But he had never been this close to you before... and something made him want to stay. Giving in to his hormones, he decided that staying a little while wouldn't hurt. I mean, you hadn't seen him yet! Sitting down in the dirt, he moved aside a few blades of grass to he had the perfect view of you brushing your hair out of your face from the wind. It killed him that he wasn't able to talk to you. Even though you were alone and no one would know, the thought of trying to gather up the courage was terrifying. Especially with his whole growing pains thing. Sighing, he watched you gaze out over the water, getting a very lonely look in your eyes.

As the breeze began to pick up, it tickled your nose and caused you to bristle. It was only for a mere second, but it was enough to make you scrunch up your nose and let out one of the cutest sneezes Globgor had ever heard. He froze, mouth agape in awe as you sniffled and gently rubbed under your nose, feeling your allergies set in.

His heart began to pitter-patter, picking up the pace as he fell even more in love with you, if that were even possible. Unfortunately, he seemed to have gotten just a little too lovestruck there and before he knew what was happening, the blades of grass surrounding him began to shrink and grow out of his vision. By the time he had finally realized he was growing again, he was already about half your height. Screaming at his body to stop before you noticed, he began to internally scream even more once you noticed the figure now standing at normal height right next to you. Letting out a scream, you scrambled away from him, fumbling to find a weapon of any sorts. Unfortunately, all you could find was the book you were holding.

Positioning it above your shoulder, you panted and glared at the monster in front of you, not quite recalling why he looked so familiar to you. His four eyes stared curiously and panicked into yours as he began to lift up his clawed hands in surrender.

"D-don't move," you tried your best to feign confidence. "I-I'm not afraid to hit a boy!"

Globgor's tail swished nervously behind him, still in complete shock that you were actually talking to him. You were talking to him!!! But you were scared of him, he soon realized. Feeling his heart droop, he tried his best not to stutter.

"I-I'm sorry, I didn't m-mean you any harm, I promise! I just wanted to talk to you..." but with one good look at the slight confusion in your eyes, he knew. "You don't remember me, do you?"

Lowering the book, you shook your head, a look of sadness filling your eyes. "I'm sorry, I don't. You look familiar, but-"

You were interrupted by him sticking out his hand for you to shake. "My name is Globgor. We met through Eclipsa a long time ago a-and after that we weren't allowed to talk because, you know..." you graciously took his warm hand and shook it, feeling the sparts ignite between the contact. You watched as he retracted his hand to scratch the back of his neck nervously, a blush creeping across his cheeks. You'll admit, you felt one dance across your own as the memories came flooding in.

"It's you! I remember!" You beamed. "I was so upset that I couldn't see you anymore. I tried everyday to see you, but my mom was furious." You sighed, watching as he took a step closer to you.

"Really? You looked for me? I was looking for you! I've actually been watching you for quite some time..." he bashfully looked down at the grass, playing with the hem of his vest. "All I ever wanted to do was talk to you. I-I felt a connection to you, one I've never felt with anyone and I couldn't let it go away. But I've been having some, uh, growing problems."

You couldn't help but giggle into your palm at how cute and nervous and awkward he was being. Did he seriously not know how adorable he was?

"You're cute," you grinned as his gaze snapped up to you with a look of total shock. "I felt the same connection too. That's why I tried so hard. But now that we're reunited..." you decided to be bold and, despite your racing heart and reddening cheeks, stepped closer and took his hands into yours, staring into his gorgeous eyes.

"Now that we're reunited, I don't care what they think. I want to get to know you better, I want to see where this goes." You offered him a kind smile and chuckled a bit as it took him a moment to recover from the shock of both you calling him cute and your confession. Shaking his head a bit and blinking, he squeezed your hands a little tighter and grinned.

"I would absolutely love that," he laughed. "There's no one else I would rather be around than someone as gorgeous as you. You're as glorious as the day."

You blushed at his comment.

"Well, it's only fair because you're as dreamy as the night."

Staring into each other's eyes, smiles wafted across your faces as you enjoyed a small moment of silence. Your heart was racing so fast, and for once, you finally felt complete again being near him. Like that hole in your chest was finally full, and it was all because of him. Who cared if he was a monster? You certainly didn't.

As the sun began to set behind the clouds, you suddenly noticed how dark it had gotten outside. Breaking eye contact, albeit reluctantly, you sighed at the sky. "It's getting late. I should probably get home, my mom will be worrying."

"Can I walk you?" He asked hopefully. Laughing, you nodded and he extended his arm regally out to you. Grinning, you looped your arm in his and began to walk. A short comfortable silence followed until you decided that there was definitely a little need for teasing him.

"So... you've been watching me, huh?" You smirked, nudging him gently with your elbow. He turned beet red and began to stutter up an explanation, but you just laughed and leaned into him.

"It's okay, Globby," you giggled. "It's sweet."

Looking down at you with starry eyes, he grinned as the two of you walked back in the direction of your home.

Of course you didn't plan on falling for a four eyed, mewman-eating, size-shifting Prince of Darkness.

But after all, who ever said love was perfect?
