Tips to Learn Wing Surfing
Windsurfing is the latest and more advanced watersport trend nowadays. The craze for wingsurfing is shouting out all over there on the beaches. there are courses to learn wingsurfing and develop the skills required to ride the wingsurfing and wing foiling with confidence.
Wingsurfing and wingfoiling both require a boat, but there is a big puffy wing you need to grip on to support your body movements during the ride. Wingfoiling is more advanced than windsurfing. In wingsurfing, the wing is attached to the board, but in wingfoiling, you need to carry and control your wand while you stand.
What's the difference between wingsurfing and wingfoiling?The only difference between wingsurfing and wingfoiling is the board. Wingsurfing needs a plain board, whereas wingfoiling needs a board with a hydrofoil attached to the board.
Wingsurfing is great to learn for beginners if you want to learn watersports. It’s slight, easy to learn, and needs less technique than wingfoiling. No previous watersports experience is required, which makes it a good option for all abilities and ages.
What's the difference between wingsurfing and wingfoiling?If you want to learn wingfoiling you’ll need gears like a board and foil specially designed for wingfoiling. Learning how the foil works and more importantly understanding how to handle it needs practice, but with a little direction, you will be able to take your first ride.
What experience do you need? Learning the basics is very easy and anyone can have a ride. A windsurfing ride may seem a little tough in very light winds as you have to control the wing above your head with very little control balancing you. But once the wind picks up, the wingsurfing ride becomes and many people will find it easier to move.
It is good to take some lessons and practice when trying something new, that helps you to clear the basics and improve further.
What are the best conditions for winging? When you are new to any watersport, flatter water is best for beginners. Along with a flatter water surface, you will need stable wind conditions too to push your ride ahead. Stable water conditions are favorable for you, However, you must also take into account the water's depth and any undersea risks brought on by the hydrofoil under the board.
How much wind do you need for wing foil? You start a wingsurfing ride in as little as 5kts of wind. With practice, your skill and technique improve you start riding in stronger winds, up to about 15kts for beginners.
Initially, you need about 10-15kts for foiling, and as your skills develop you will be able to ride on foiling in lighter winds, as well as stable in stronger winds up to about 25kts.
What gears do you need?If you are learning the course, the kit is provided by them. So it’s a fantastic way to give it a try and see if you enjoy the activity, without investing in it initially.
Once you made up your mind, you will need a wetsuit and a buoyancy. If you’re learning to foil, you will need a helmet also.
You will need a wing for wingsurfing that is around 2.8-4m, depending on the individual requirements and the learning conditions and a board with adequate volume, and a centerboard or fin.
If you are interested to get more advancement in wingfoiling, you will need a good wingfoiling board with a foil that’s fit for your capacity.
It is good to have all the gear if you are keen on watersports, but not having the right equipment that suits you well can hamper your progress. Copying what the professionals use may attract you, but it won’t help you while riding because their level is more advanced.
