top 5 any category:

motoamerica 2022 new jersey race 2. i was there. it poured rain, petrux put out a 10 second lead, ashton yates was almost relevant!

500cc west german gp 1989. this is free on youtube and a perfect time capsule of the big bang era of the late 80s. the commentator calls mick doohan "mike", schwantz puts on a spectacular show, the vhs quality is endearingly terrible.

500cc italian gp 1993. this one is really just sad; wayne rainey crashes out, breaking his spine and becoming permanently paralyzed. it's an important part of racing history, though, and i don't think "favorite" means "best result", but "most emotionally impactful". rainey's injury ended his career, handing the championship to kevin schwantz. it's a reminder of the danger and sacrifice of racing.

wsbk most 2021 race 1. toprak's last lap pass against redding for the win literally changed my life. in post-race interviews redding said toprak should "show some respect"... basically asking for the win to be handed to him. anytime redding says anything now, i'm tempted to remind him to show some respect. it's become my catchphrase for making fun of him.

moto2 portugal 2022. objectively an awful result for almost everybody but one of my favorites nonetheless just for the drama and narrative arc. joe's first win.

top 5 motogp:

laguna seca 2006. a relatively popular pick, but fuck, this is a true classic. nicky hayden slays on home turf. the mark neale documentary about this race, the doctor, the kentucky kid and the texas tornado, is wonderful. it's so quintessentially 2000s.

austria 2021. maverick had his infamous meltdown and martin took his first win since his catastrophic crash at portimao earlier that year, having broken 8 bones.

styria 2021. same track, different weekends. brad got his first win in perhaps the most insane race finish of recent memory. i usually HATE pit stops in motorcycle racing (fuck daytona 200), but this one is a stunner from start to end.

cota 2023. alex motherfucking rins, baby! winning on an independent honda at a track he loves. this one just fills me with joy, a real feel-good race.

mugello 2019. one i revisit a lot. i just love petrucci, but there's tons of action all the way through! the last few laps are TENSE, suzuki was up in contention, and dovi gives a few great moments.

I first notice that when Ilya Mikhalchik did his appearance in WSBK. He use this livery

Yeah it looks okay, but compared to the official or the Bonobo livery, you can see the differences

Perspectives also play an imprtant role. When I saw the 2021 and 2021 BMW on track I saw a sexy female (BMW official), while the Wild-card seemed a bit more bored. The Bonovo one actually looks like a middle age man.

And this year, it's not just a female, both the Bonovo and the Official team looks much more masculine. I don't know if they have changed something with the aero/front of the bike due to the restriction of the series.

Once again, perspective plays a role. Depending on whhic photos, the official bike looks angrier that the Bonovo, and in others, it's the Bonovo who looks angrier. When racing, the Bonovo looks a little bit worse.

I do not like it, I want back my previous livery. Give me back that sexy female look.

I just heard an interview DAZN did to Navarro, who is still in Australia. And I’m shocked.

The first person to help him was Corsi, not any marshals. He had to hold his leg because it was facing two different sides. Corsi was the one to take off the helmet just to be able to see if he was alive or conscious.

The one who called for the red flag was Navarro himself. He HAD TO ASK for a marshal to ask for it and they got ignored. And only one marshal stayed with him.

He also described how scary it was because he was not wearing a helmet, close to a track where bikes where passing very close. And he lost consciousness once he arrived to the medical centre.

And I’m still asking why it was not red flagged? Apparently riders are going to inquire about it in the safety commission.

TURISIAN.com – Pemesanan hotel untuk event balap motor dunia World Superbike (WSBK) masih sepi. Sampai saat ini masih di bawah 10 persen. "WSBK tinggal dua minggu lagi, tapi pemesanan hotel (oleh penonton WSBK) di Kota Mataram masih di bawah 10 persen," kata Ketua Asosiasi Hotel Mataram (AHM) Yono Sulistyo di Mataram, NTB, Kamis, 27 Oktober 2022. Kegiatan balap motor WSBK ini sendiri akan berlangsung pada 11-13 November 2022. Menurut Yono, sepinya calon penonton yang memesan kamar hotel sangat berbeda dengan kegiatan WSBK 2021. Begitu pun dengan saat MotoGP digelar pada Maret 2022. Yang mana tiga bulan sebelumnya semua hotel di Kota Mataram sudah penuh dipesan penonton. Baik dari dalam negeri (Indonesia) maupun  mancanegara. BACA JUGA: Siap-siap, MotoGP Mandalika 2023 Lebih Seru Lagi, Ini Kata Erick Thohir "Sedangkan, WSBK 2022, sampai sekarang belum ada kelihatan indikasi peningkatan pemesanan hotel," katanya. Terkait dengan itu, kata Yono, ia mengharapkan pemerintah pusat meramaikan serta melakukan sosialisasi terhadap kegiatan internasional tersebut melalui BUMN, Kementerian Pariwisata, dan kementerian lain yang terkait. "Para pejabat-pejabat di kementerian pemerintah pusat harus hadir di Lombok menyaksikan WSBK, agar event ini lebih menggaung dan bisa menarik banyak penonton," katanya. Ia mengakui kelas kegiatan World Superbike memang kewenangan MotoGP. Tapi jika pemerintah pusat ikut serta meramaikan kegiatan ini,  penonton juga akan tertarik. Dan, pada akhirnya bisa berdampak pada tingkat hunian hotel. Tarif Resmi Hotel BACA JUGA: Selain MotoGP, Ini Potensi Gelaran Olahraga Internasional Lainnya yang Dimiliki Mandalika  "Kalau hanya mengandalkan masyarakat yang datang, saya rasa masih berat. Saat WSBK 2021, masyarakat banyak hadir karena mungkin penasaran dengan kondisi sirkuit sehingga antusias warga saat itu tinggi. Tapi, sekarang sudah turun," katanya. Sementara, Yono mengatakan untuk tarif hotel saat ini masih stabil dan bahkan sebagian sudah diturunkan dari tarif resmi. Misalnya, tarif resmi hotel Rp1 juta, kini turun menjadi Rp500 ribu sampai Rp600 ribu. "Tarif hotel tergantung permintaan dan penyediaan hotel yang ada. Tapi, kondisi sekarang ini kita di bawah tarif resmi," katanya. BACA JUGA: Ini Toh, Kenapa Sirkuit Mandalika Belum Bisa Gelar Balapan Formula 1 Di sisi lain, Yono menyebutkan okupansi hotel di Kota Mataram saat ini tercatat sekitar 60-65 persen dan kondisi itu sudah termasuk kategori bagus. "Jika okupansi hotel 40 persen, kita hanya bisa untuk membayar biaya operasional," katanya. Yono menambahkan 60-65 persen okupansi hotel itu rata-rata merupakan wisatawan domestik yang melaksanakan kegiatan MICE (meeting, incentive, convention, and exhibition), dan kegiatan perusahaan. "Sedangkan, wisatawan lokal biasanya datang setiap akhir pekan, mulai Jumat-Minggu," katanya. ***
