I have to say that I´m absolutely loving this season so far - no bad episodes in my opinion. Its not that i hated the last season but this time it feels like the writers really put their energy into it. There is so much happening and they upped their game in giving each episode a unique premise. We already got so much iconic new stuff; staten island pride parade, nadja being cursed, laszlo on the beach, nandor on the moon, vampire orgy with nadja doll, sean (who apparantly wants to kiss laszlo now?), nandor hypnotizing an entire police force, the council of energy vampires, news station break - in etc etc. There´s just such a great variety of content in the episodes, and they also seem to have become funnier in some places and more sincere in others. guillermos arc this season finally developes further and while the amount of funny vampires shenannigans is multiplied, guillermos subplot feels genuinly emotionally significant - not just for him, but for nandor as well. Something is changing. Compared to s4 the new episodes are stronger indiviually but also manage to trace their character arcs better throughout, giving us a better emotional hook for finale. so, i´m really excited to see how this season continues, especially with the threat of Guillermos transformation/betrayal eventually hanging over it. Really good stuff people!

💜My immediate reactions to WWDITS 5x5💚

* We love a cheeky menty b walk, Nandor!

* Nandor really flashing those fangs! On the local news. I love how no one ever mentions the fangs.

* “Shitty shit, I fucked it!” 😂 Oh Nandor, everyone just thinks you’re a dumb New Yorker/Staten Island resident. Nothing new, bb. We’ll love you through it.

* Nandor calls for Guillermo first!!!! He- he NEEDS him! (In Aziraphale’s voice, if you’ll be so kind).

* Colin’s flappy hands and going back to his wall-punching ways was fun to see. He’s seemingly been just as ready for this occurrence as Nadja.

* Shouting “Where’s Guillermo?” is the best “better idea”, Nandor. Good call.

* Guillermo’s family is looking great! That nightclub money really helped!

* Oh shoot! Something tells me that interrupted news hypnotism didn’t work, Nandy.

* Guillermo’s Spanish will always be lovely to hear. Normalize bilingual rep!

* Go-bags and blonde hair. Brilliant, Nadja. What could go wrong? Also, I love that she took the time to dye the doll’s hair too.

* Did– Did Nandor’s crotch just break a cinder block?

* They are just really flashing the fangs all over the place, huh?! The Guide’s were even more obvious than Nandor’s on the news.

* More Sean?! I love it! He’s been in so many eps this season!!

* Nadja’s hypnosis of Guillermo’s family really worked well! I’m still surprised they can’t detect the bit of Guillermo that’s vampire now though.

* I like that Guillermo felt like he could still tell the vampires what to do when he was on the phone with Laszlo. His bodyguard instincts are very much still there.

* Poor Guillermo! Saying goodbye to his mom three times. Seeing just how tough this part of the process is for him is rough.

* Nandor’s line: “Friends!… The Guide.” (Poor Guide…)

* Ooooo, badass knife skills, Nandor! That was smooth af!

* Please go to him, Nandor! Guillermo is calling out for a vulnerable, truthful conversation in that music room. 😭

* Bye bye, Jalopy! (UPDATE: Hello again, Jalopy!)

* What the hell are you thinking, Colin Robinson?! There’s clearly no one attacking you, so yeah, why not just light the news truck on fire?!

* Oh god, what is gonna happen to Guillermo when they get back? You ARE needed, Guillermo!!!!

* Is Nandor about to hypnotize the whole city?! UPDATE: Nandor AND Nadja! They are, as of this season, definitely the two best hypnotists, so I guess that makes sense. I gotta ask though, why doesn’t the news broadcast hypnosis work on the film crew?

* Not the Guide draining the weather lady in the shot. That’s a pretty big schmutz on the screen.

* Colin is an un-ironically great weather man. I wonder if that will factor into the next ep based on him saying in the teaser that he has become too interesting to drain people effectively.

* Guillermo talking about how the tough part of being a vampire is who you leave behind makes me INCREDIBLY nervous about the fact that the rumored title for ep.10 is “Exit Interview”

* Yes, mid-credits Action Guillermo! That vampire bodyguard is very much still in there!

The way nandor takes responsibility, we don't get to see it from any other character in the show and it's not sth we expect to see from a former warlord. He blamed himself for the Sire's escape too even tho it was technically Nadja's fault. Which reminds me, the way he called for a press conference then to handle the situation and the speech he gave was very reminiscent of the way he tried to gather everyone in this episode and make them all work together. Call him dumb all you want, but nandor also knows how to act like a commander and give inspiring speeches. He also knows his way around swords and knives. Which is very hot of him. And he does all of this while looking extremely pretty. So many points in his favor honestly!

Realized something about the WWDITS timeline:

-In the promo for S5E5, Nandor says they got to Staten Island in 1892.

-Laszlo was Jack the Ripper, who was active from 1888 to 1891.

So maybe they left London in 1892 so that Laszlo wouldn’t get caught!

spoilers for s5e5 wwdits like it was so goofy but guillermo making such a big deal to nandor about how many of his mom's birthdays he missed for them then he missed another one and it wasnt even the vamps' fault this time IT WAS HIS FAULT!!! like him putting his mom through the emotional roller coaster 3 fucking times because he literally didnt think about how he'd never be able to interact w his family again - AND DOING IT ON HER BIRTHDAY. but the biggest kicker is his mom not noticing his reflection was starting to fade in the mirror??? like it isnt because she doesnt care its because he's barely around anyway, so it wasnt different from how she sees him which is hardly ever!!!
