+ 1. I'll be honest, that was my reaction the first time I read a fic with breeding kink. I was like "oh. this is really something I've learnt about myself huh."

I feel like most of the grid will be PISSED when Charles out qualifies them and does well in the race, even though they're betas.

Would Max feel proud of Charles for doing well, or is he indifferent to Charles' racecraft?... I feel like before it wouldn't have bothered him because he wants to beat EVERYONE, but now he has more of a vested interest in Charles' life/future

well Max is generally a bit fucked off about Charles' races at the moment because Charles is leading the Championship, and there's no universe in which Max is entirely happy about that.

which I would think is generally his mind set going forward. his concerns about Charles in the car are about whether he can beat Charles; it's everything outside of the car that he's losing sleep over.

Okay but does Daniel have a cameo in the story?-given his relationship/history with Max .If so, What are his views? Don’t get me wrong, I love lestappen but I will always have a soft spot for maxiel 🫠 would you ever see yourself writing about the two?

I'm not sure Daniel is going to have much screen time (the story is already so bloated) but he's on the list of people that would support Charles, if only because of Max.

in regards to Maxiel, they were actually how I started reading f1 fic!!!! and then I found lestappen and the rest is history. the drama of lestappen is more intriguing to me. however, if the right idea came around for a maxiel fic, I would probably write it! I just have like 4 other lestappen fics already lined up after this one haha.

I can't help but think of the other drivers during Max V. Charles. Like, I know betas don't bother with alpha/omega dynamics, but they for sure still got to be thinking what the fuck do those two have going on. Especially if Max makes Charles wear the collar around them. I know if I was them my nosy ass would still be trying to get all the gossip 😂

hi!! this might've already been asked before, but while we all patiently wait for the next update - if you read other fics in the fandom, do you have any favourites you'd like to recc? : )

sorry for not replying to this for ages!!!!!! I decided that I'd give you all access to my bookmarks, but that meant I had to through 100 individual fics to do that lol.

but - my book marks are now available. there's a great mix of stuff in there (if I do say so myself). lots of lestappen, some maxiel, and then some random pairings too. smut, profound shit, AUs, whatever you want, you shall find!!

some specifics I'm going to highlight because they probably won't be read otherwise, as they're a little niche:

even a Mouse by @ficster28 if anybody reads then can you please tell me. because I need to know if I'm insane for thinking about this every single day since I read it.

somebody else by piastrism. insane Oscar, insane lestappen. perfect.

everything to prove, nothing to lose by awaywego. the plot twist for this was STUNNING.

strange new worlds by racing line. this was on anon for ages so imagine my delight to discover this morning that the author has revealed themselves! anyway this fic changed the way I look at smut. so. if wygig gets crazy, that's because of this fic.

iron out the edges of the darkest sky by anonymous. this one all comes together in the final part. I think about the closing section probably every two days, and that's not a joke. it just ... really sums up how I feel about female drivers and the opportunities they're given. it's maxiel, but its Max focused, Daniel is really just there as a plot device lol.

1. Charles thinking he's the world's most clever person ever has me on the fucking floor. you go get them babe. yes, surely keeping the other idiot satisfied is only because you want to escape. of course sweetie. but question: are omegas more prone to their alpha, or that only goes so far and then they actually can control the feelings said alpha causes on them?

2. Max is an idiot, isn’t he? like, I actually want to open his brain to see how the fuck it works because I am amazed at its capacity (or lack of it/j)

3. I have a thing for the starved man comparision, and it's lovely to see such an accurate scenario for it. because Max actually short-circuited. he's just a man and Charles broke his brain in what? like, less than 5 minutes?

4. Carlos is a little rat, but I'm actually thankful that's he's not like. gross. (please, I'm begging you on my knees. don't make him or other drivers gross) I have this thing where I can kinda stand when oc are gross and little shits, but, even if some would consider said person a little shit (completely reasonable, people are allowed to not like drivers) I don't like it when on fics, they're outright assholes and disgusting craps, cause I don't know with certainity if they are like that irl. idiots and that I can do but over that is too much to bear for me. that's the point where I am reminded that they're real and that stuff. of course, is totally on you, and I don't expect anything, but picture me making puppy eyes at you on this one. and I was wondering, what is he? a beta or an alpha? it probably was said somewhere but I don't remember. because according to my reasoning, he's a beta because he was not in the auction. or was he?

5.I'm so fucking glad I chose wygig as this year's questionable fic. I love it and I have now developed a deep emotional dependence towards it. but haven't we all? (this is to say I love it)

+1. glad you're enjoying (I'm also trip anon btw) had I been in Italy, I would've loved to go to the bar to watch the race. even though I've never gone to watch a race at a bar in Rome, in Italy, depending on where you go, it can be really exciting and ehmmm... definetely an experience, may I call it that way. but sadly, first of all there's a four hour drive from Toscana to Rome and I would get my ass even flatter, and second I left months ago. maybe next time

Carlos is a beta - basically everybody is a beta. there's only one person whose designation hasn't been revealed yet, but they're not a driver, so. you can pretty much just assume that everybody is a beta. as for making drivers assholes - I don't really do that in general, because usually it's too one dimensional for what I'm writing. it's fun in some scenarios (particularly shorter fics) but even the drivers who are currently 'villains' aren't outright bad people.

hahaha and at the rate it's going, it's length will mean it probably lasts half the year too haha

I do have a question though. Are there absolutely no other omegas across the entire paddock among all teams' personnel or is Charles being treated like that by all the alphas because he is the 1st omega driver who hid his designation and the circumstances following his outing (the auction, being bought and mated by Max, etc.)?

but like the general trajectory is still downwards. we have yet to hit the worst of it yet. but this is for sure a particularly low point. as for respite .... what can I say, it's an action packed story hahaha.

as for your question. there are absolutely no other omegas in the paddock at all right now, in any role. most of the alphas there would likely have never met an omega before at all.

Hello! Not wygig related, but here to wish a biggggg congrats to the Lando girlies because even if I'm personally not a fan (I'm also probably the anon who accidentally started the Lando dislike agenda here after *that* wygig chapter), you guys deserve to celebrate your hearts out!!

The hate towards certain drivers gets too much sometimes in the fandom, so just wanted to get some wholesomeness to cut through that. We all belong to the F1 fandom after all! And if the drivers can be sooo happy for their colleague/friend/on track rival, then so can we as their fans, no? 🫶🏼

love the wholesomeness tbh! everyone has their own opinions about drivers, and while I think it's totally fine not to like everyone, you're right - sometimes it goes TOO far. we can be happy for drivers other than our faves when they win! (except Carlos, I'm sorry, I can't even pretend to have happiness in my heart for him 😭)

but all in all - yes. we should put aside our disappointment to also be happy for others! (again. except Carlos. bc wtf was his deal this weekend??? his one sided beef with Oscar was really out of control).

As for why abo is so popular in f1:

Oc i can only guess. But i have been in so many fandoms of my 10 years of reading ao3 and something i noticed is that you can find certain tropes in each fandom more than in others. So for f1 it's abo and for others it's something else. And that is usually happening after one or more fics in this genre are getting really popular. So one author sets the ground rules for the fandom and everyone else follows. It makes sense because all authors take inspirations from somewhere. Usually that is the original source, so in this case the rl drivers. But oc if you read a lot in the fandom and you come across a good fic you are more likely to be motivated to write in this setting as well, in this case the omegaverse. And we have, your fic oc included, some really good abo fics so it makes sense that other people followed and now abo and f1 go hand in hand.

Now why abo is a thing in the first place is a different question that you already answered i think.

I think you're probably quite right - when a particular kink/genre becomes popular in a fandom, it does definitely become rife. almost like a "oh, it's OKAY for me to write this!"

for the origins ... I mean it came from a Supernatural fic. we shouldn't be surprised, really.

also, that wikipedia article does include some interesting stuff about whether omega verse is heteronormative or whether it's subversive! for anybody interested.
