I've always just glanced over the blurb before but today I realised that it has little to no resemblance to how the scene actually played out. I wonder if it's from an earlier draft where Tallulah was more like Georgia, or if Rennison just wanted a briefer summary of that scene in particular.

Cain Casey is too catchy for me not to do anything with. Picture Cain laying in his bed, writing in his diary the notebook he writes lyrics in, practicing his signature with the new stage name he came up with out of nowhere, definitely, it just sounds cool, total coincidence that it's also Tallulah's last name. Definitely.

I know Cain's more strongly associated with dogs in the text and Tallulah with cats, but Cain is so stray cat coded and Tallulah is a husky given human form.

More glitter texts! I might go back and edit the outline of the Withering Tights one at some point so it contrasts less with itself and more with the text, but that is a tomorrow Lamarie thing.

I figured out how to use glitter fills in paint.net and made a glitter text!

I know there are plenty of glitter text generators around, but I wanted to use a few specific fonts so I figured out how to do it myself and made this one as a test. I'm planning to do the book titles and a few more quotes as glitters, including the second half of Cain's note.

Font used is Porcelain by Misprinted Type, and glitter texture is from GlitterEyez by SilentTears

The date fic now has a title! It's called "I Mean What I'm Saying (Begging)" because I am not immune to song lyric titles. I don't know if I'm going to make much progress today, but hopefully I'll have more done before the week is out.

I used blinkies.cafe to make the drippy blinky and then ended up making my own 88x31 buttons to go with it.

There are two buttons for A Midsummer Tights Dream because the first wasn't all that legible, but the second didn't really fit the vibe so I might end up editing the other two to match.

Ooh I just realised that because I'm making Georgia the adult supervision in my reverse AU I can put in some of my favourite rarepair, Georgia/Masimo.

Anyway for context Tallulah is living with Georgia in a smallish town somewhere in North Yorkshire after some issues living with her grandmother. Georgia is 19 to Tallulah's 15, doing her best, and a lot more grounded and mature than she was during the course of her books. I can see Georgia/Masimo happening in this AU as a kind of slow burn background ship.

Hold on I just had an idea for a cool AU

Reverse AU where the Heckmondwhite locals are students at a boarding school in a town the Dother Hall and Woolf Academy kids live.

Overly dramatic goth girls the Sisters Arborea and their various boy toys, Cain being a mama's boy because his parents are still together, Beverly Bottomley as that one awful teacher's daughter...

It is all coming together in my head, no idea if it'll ever get down on a page though.

I’m always gonna be pissed that amatonormatvity as a term and a model for understanding society was literally mocked into disuse by exclusionists because of its association with aromantic folks.

Amatonormativity, honestly, has approximately fuck-all to do with aros. We did not even coin it, we’re simply the only people who actually take it seriously cause we’re among the ones who are most hurt by it. And it PISSES me the fuck off that it is not a widespread model used in greater queer discussions.

I finished it this morning and like, Cain's flaws are expounded upon at length, fair enough, but Charlie's out there flirting with other girls even though he has a girlfriend at home in the first two books, then in the third he gets territorial over Lullah even before he tells her he broke up with the girl back home.

Cain apologised for the whole train wreck at the gig first! And he had more of a right to be pissed off than Charlie did! Also I genuinely think he was doing his own decoy bat plan with those two girls at the gig, it's mentioned so close to Flossie's and it was the night he first sang the song he wrote for Lullah.

I've almost finished rereading The Taming of the Tights and I'd forgotten how much Charlie annoyed me in this book.
