#the misadventures of tallulah casey
Tumblr media
I'm not really a photoset kind of person, but I thought I would give it a go.
The eight outer photos come from Pixabay or MorgueFile if you look up Yorkshire, and the centre photo I took myself.

Finn asks his older cousin for advice, forgetting that growing up on land and away from the pirate business doesn't mean she didn't live a weird life on her own. Tallulah, however, leaps on the chance to be the cool older cousin.
I wrote a fic in an afternoon, enjoy ✨
It's going to be part of a larger series that gives Hammerhead a Mysterious Past™, briefly talks about the stigma of accent and how to get people to underestimate you by utilising said stigma, getting diagnosed with ADHD as a family, constructing personas to live a life of crime, if you count as cousins if your grandad adopted* your aunt after your gran kicked him out for being gay and you and your mum never met said aunt before she was murdered, Cats Doing Jobs (rodent murder), putting the farm in Manor Farm, and elderly goths.
*no paperwork was signed, she just sorta moved in after being tragically superorphaned by an elderly cultist
I think it still works if you've seen The Deep but haven't read the Tallulah Casey books, much like the Tallulah Casey books still worked without having read the Georgia Nicolson books first.

Do you mind if I ask your top 10 favorite characters (can be male or female) from all of the media that you loved (can be anime/manga, books, movies or tv series)? And why do you love them? Sorry if you've answered this question before.....Thanks...
Hii!!! You're my second ask ever so dw
Let me see... Can't lie I sort of blanked out 😭 but here's what I managed to scrape up from the pits of my mind
In no particular order:
Noelle, from Sidney Sheldon's Memories of Midnight
She's a badass, idk idk 15 year old me was obsessed with her and her dark feminine (is that what it is?) So she'll always have a special place in my heart. I mean she knew what she wanted and went for it. I admire that, I need that! I desperately wanted to be her. Were her ways of attaining what she wanted a bit off the book? Yes, were her motivations a bit problematic? Sure but hey nobodies perfect
Tallulah Casey, from Louise Rennison's Misadventures of Tallulah Casey
She's so funny, awkward and adorable I love her. The first time I read this book I was probably 14 (the same age as her) so I could relate to her in a way. Idk I guess she just grew on me and I can't let her go. Plus we're both tall and skinny (I'm not that tall but 14 yr old me thought otherwise). Why is she my favorite... I do not know really, maybe because we had like 2 similarities and I got attached to her? Because I saw myself in her? I honestly don't know.
Geto Suguru, Jujutsu Kaisen
It's a bit complicated trying to explain this one, obvs his looks reeled me in. But he sort of mirrored a tough phase I went through (It wasn't that tough I'm just dramatic). I'm still trying to understand his character a bit better but here's the gist of what secured him a place in my heart (pls don't eat me up if I'm perhaps misinterpreting some stuff pls 😭) : So we both thought we were the best/strongest at something. Then we got the biggest humbling of our lives. Then we went through an isolation/ depressive phase. And then we got angry/resentful and found someone to pin the blame on. This is where he and I differ bc he pinned the blame on a whole demographic and took the aggressive route (kill them all), and I pinned the blame on myself and took the passive route (self hate, low self esteem and worth etc). Basically a one sided trauma bond?
Tanethu Mdluli, The Amaryllis (it's a book, by an African author,I forgot the name)
She's everything I wanted to be (since I was 13/14). She's the perfect student, daughter, big sister, friend. Her parents are proud of her. She's strong, independent, responsible, smart, kind, aware of what she wants and how she wants it. Is she a bit too rigid ad judgemental yes but idk she's her for me yk. I've loved her since I was young and I desperately wanted to model myself after her (epic fail btw she'd be disappointed)
I'll stop here bc it's a bit long. If you want more I can always add more :)

3 movies, 3 books and 3 songs that changed my life (or that i love)
Tumblr media
@slutforstabbings keeps giving me the impossible task of self-reflection lol. i tried to do a similar eras system (child, teen, young adult), but it's not perfect. watch me defend my choices below the cut ✌
i will pass the torch, without any pressure, to my beloved @solivagant-muse 💗 (and anyone else who feels like doing it, of course !!)
films
scooby doo and the witches ghost (1999): one of the movies i had on vhs as a kid. the first appearance of the hex girls? of course it changed the trajectory of my life. every single day i think about how cute it was that luna's dad ( a dentist) made fang implants for the hex girls to wear.
natural born killers (1994): i was an edgy teenager. i love the cinematography and the editing and how meta it is and the fucked up romance. and it was one of the films that made me want to study film, so i guess i should send my university bill to oliver stone?
halloween ends (2022): is anyone surprised? anyone at all? i've had other films i've loved in adulthood (looking at you, house of wax), but i've never become to instantly obsessed as i did with ends. i've never developed so many hcs and aus and possibilities for one thing. do i really have to defend this one? just look at my blog lol.
books
withering tights (the misadventures of tallulah casey) by louise rennison: there were so many books i loved as a kid, but this is one i come back to even now. it's about friendship, finding your passions, having a silly teenage romance. i'm glad my tweenie self read this book.
the secret history by donna tartt: another teenage cliché. i was actually recommended this book by my own classics teacher in college. i've re-read this book at least 5 times i think? i love it, it's passionate and dark and funny. you fall exactly into the trap that richard does in romanticising these dysfunctional people. no one can change my mind.
the wasp factory by iain banks: do you wanna read something fucked up? then read the wasp factory. i think about this book a lot, just because some of the images were just so weird and disturbing and visceral. it's blunt and brash and has no frills at all. it'll make you feel weird and i heavily advise reading some content warnings beforehand, but it is an experience.
songs:
the tide is high by blondie: the first song i ever remember liking. when i was a kid my dad would drive me to school and ask what i wanted to listen to on the radio and i would ask for this song (and surprisingly it actually was on the radio a lot in the early 00s?).
maya the psychic by gerard way: this song reminds me of a bright grey day in march with a cold breeze and a new found will to live.
respite on the spitalfields by ghost: my favourite song from the first ghost album i ever listen to (recommended by a friend). respite (the final track) literally makes me feel like my heart is going to explode, and the way the last riff merges back into imperium (the first track)? obsessed. i fell asleep to this album so many times at university, so respite was really the soundtrack to my slumber.

I got impatient and I'm probably going to regret it tomorrow, but I ended up finishing this.
Tumblr media
Tallulah and Finn are sort of cousins here, but like, not legally or biologically, purely through vibes and a broody grandfather. Finn thinks of her as the most normal member of the family, but sometimes she reminds him she's just weird in a different way.
Finn's 16, and I wanted to keep the two year age gap Tallulah had with Georgia, so she's 18 here and almost as tall as Will Nekton because I think it's funny. It would have been easy to connect Tallulah to the Nektons through her father and his interest in nature, but again, I thought this would be funnier.
She refuses to have anything to do with Hammerhead's feud with the Nektons, and advocated for both Finn and Maddy to get online schooling so they have options later in life. She's also doing a few online classes of her own, focusing on history and folklore with the intention of becoming a writer.
The all black outfit is partially because it makes laundry easier and doesn't show oil stains as easy, and partially because Tallulah has a couple personas she leans into as a pirate. She took inspiration from Flossie's Southern Belle affectation and has two main acts - Brooklynite businesswoman and Yorkshire cad. Brooklynite businesswoman comes out for hawking things on the floating market, Yorkshire cad comes out when people need to be intimidated. The Yorkshire cad persona may or may not have convinced someone (Alpheus) that she's a cannibal, but hey, it happens sometimes.

I'm trying to figure out which version of the playlist cover I should use. The original plan was to try and draw an anatomical heart in a grungy marker type brush, but I wasn't really happy with it so I found a vintage illustration and tried to make it look like it was cut out and stuck on, and then added blood for extra edginess but I don't know if it's too much or just enough edginess.
Here's the playlist with the old art, so you can get an idea of what I'm trying to go for.

Hi, i'm so glad to have found this blog. I'm writing a teen story set in England. I'm Italian, i learned English from tv show and movies mostly from America. Do you have any good suggestions on tv shows and movies (and maybe also books) that are English, with teen characters? Just so i can have a feel on how it's like, i already made research online i just want to be sure to cover all basis. Thanks for your time.
I actually do! If your books are about girls, then the Georgia Nicolson series and The Misadventures of Tallulah Casey series by Louise Rennison (RIP my queen) are very accurate to how most British teen girls act n’ stuff. She wrote the book that inspired the Angus, Thongs, and Perfect Snogging movie! She’s very funny and I used to love her books to like, death. I should reread those…

(Mod Tea looking through her bookshelf.)
The Inbetweeners is pretty accurate too to how most boys act!
