So today on things we learn about ✨ how fucked up a show Bridgerton is✨ simone was asked to read lines for Kate's backstory that was later cut from the show which orginally made her accept the role. Not only that they cut out a bonding scene in the library for Kathony and when Simone asked for the desk scene from the book she was refused. And lets not forget the way she was sidelined in promo. So anyone saying Simone wasn't sidelined in HER OWN SEASON CAN GO TO HELL.

This wasn’t Kate Sheffield anymore. This wasnt Mary Sheffield or Edwina Sheffield.

They’ve consciously made it a story that belonged to WOC and erased it.

They consciously changed Marinas story and Simons story and they are now POC stories and they’ve muddled it.

Make white storie. no one cares. We didn’t beg you for representation and especially not this representation.

Don’t sell us diversity by changing and erasing poc stories. That’s not diversity. Your show is a joke. Stop making poc characters props or supports for white characters.

Also don’t talk about the female gaze when you can’t talk about female trauma especially woc trauma.

Marina gets the boot and vilified for for Polin’s development. Her trauma and story is nothing but a prop. She gets brought back just to tell Colin that Penelope is the best thing to happen to him since sliced bread.

Violet gets to cry and finds release and Anthony gets multiple flashbacks and Mary gets one five minute speech and Kates gets blamed for everything????

All this for what? The Featheringtons and development Polin and a white teenager constantly belittling the woc queen.

It's so funny that Book Benedict arguably had less personality than any Bridgerton while Show Benedict has like the most personality of any character :) And thank you!!!

I can't really answer this except to say that no one really knows she is LW and the more people that find out, the more likely it is that she will have to face consequences for her actions.

There's nothing of book Colin in show Benedict, Luke T is simply too charming for his own good, for the contrary I find it really compelling he found a way to improve his character without been un accurate, a hell of an actor if you ask me

And I think all the Bridgerton brothers in the books are described as charming, just Colin is particularly the most charming because of his wit. But my gosh I agree, Luke T really brought so much to the character whilst staying faithful to the book interpretation of Benedict. He gave such a layered and nuanced performance with everything he was given so I'm excited to see what he does going ahead not just with his role in S2 but his star turn in S3 - we will not be ready for what that man has to give us.

I saw someone say that they(the showrunners) “stole” book Colin’s personality and give it to show Benedict as an excuse for Colin being bland😭.

Like no, that just shows who the better actor is. Luke N didn’t do anything to sell his character even when the script demanded it, by telling us how’s he’s danced with every girl in society and blah blah blah.

Luke Thompson may not be the handsomest guy at a first glance but he makes for it by having charm. Even when he wasn’t the focus, he was in the background ad libbing and making funny faces, selling Benedict as funny and charming. Luke Newton didn’t do any of that, so his character is boring.

They’re just gonna have to rely on stan Twitter and Derry Girls viewers to sell season 4, cuz Luke Newton ain’t it, sorry.

No offense, but Luke Newton doesn’t have leading man potential 💀 Season 4 is set up for disaster. If Sophie is a WOC (which she most likely will be) I hope they bring out Kathony and Benophie to make up for the two cracker protagonists

The only logical assumption to make is that Sophie will be a WoC, it's just that this show's production is making me lose my mind with their bullshit so I don't know if we can even depend on logic 😭😭

Seriously though, they've already backed themselves into a corner by casting not just the Featheringtons and the Bridgertons as white in s01, but Philip as well. That automatically makes 2/7 couples all white, in a show that has been using diversity as a selling point from the first moment (no comment as to how diversity is actually treated).

I 100% agree about Luke Newton, I definitely can't see this man as a male lead. A few months back I thought it was a given we'd be getting Kathony and Benophie in later seasons but at this point I'm not even sure about that. Phoebe is a returning lead and they've kept her out of everything. Portia fucking Featherington is in the secondary character posters, but not the actress that was the face of the season that became a global hit. Kate and Anthony are being sidelined in THEIR OWN SEASON, I just don't know why I should trust that they'd give them the place they deserve outside it when every day they make it clear how little respect they have for them.

At this rate season 4 will be about Colin, Penelope, Eloise and the Queen, with a bunch of original characters no one cares about.

I think much of it depends on what are their plans when it comes to the show. If they just don't give a fuck now that they got renewed for season 4, they'll wrap it there without caring about the final season being a trainwreck. But if they have any expectation of getting renewed they'll need Kathony and Benophie to do some damage control, along with some fresh faces in Francesca, John and Michael. People may tolerate their silly Gossip Girl b-plots while watching a season with a strong leading couple, but what when this nonsense becomes the main plot? Do they really think they can keep audiences hooked with Penelope's petty shenanigans, especially after two seasons of the show aggressively promoting them over main couples?
