Shadow Puppets AU - Rainy Day

This is actually in commemoration of a finished thread, but it's much smaller than the poster I made for the completion of the Deadwardian Era thread, so I didn't want to make a poster. This thread was actually supposed to be a short Halloween inspired RP that Bragi and I started back in October, it took us a couple of months to finish this 'short' thread.

In this thread, it's been a few years since Philip and Astrophel met, Father Josiah is dead, General William has taken Philip as his apprentice and the Wittebane brothers have their own house now. To celebrate Gravesfield's good harvest, Caleb took Philip to the pumpkin patch to buy a couple as a treat. They got a big one to eat, but Astrophel insisted on getting a smaller one to carve a jack 'o' Lantern, too, much to the brothers' confusion.

Caleb figured out that Astrophel meant something similar to a Will 'o' Whisp that the brothers had heard about from a fellow traveler before they arrived in Gravesfield, and recalled the story of Stingy Jack they'd heard from him to his brother and his friend as he carved the pumpkin, which Philip wanted to look like Astrophel. When the work was done, they went back into the house to roast the pumpkin seeds, and heard a small crash outside.

Local trouble maker, Hugh Fayerweather had smashed their Jack 'o' Lantern. Philip and Astrophel were greatly upset and Caleb didn't know how to comfort them, but left to go after Hugh to make him pay for their pumpkin and tell the new town preacher what he'd done. Meanwhile, the two friends didn't feel like that was quite punishment enough and made a pact to get back at Hugh one way or another.

I'm going to make a general post about this since two separate people have done it in the last three days, but ya'll please don't slap media recommendations into my askbox, whether its a show you like or something you made, don't do it.

Also I start to realize that Caleb and Evelyn tried always to convince Philip that his friend is not a good person but it's always failed and ignored he always listens to his friend no matter what his actual identity of his friend and this is actually my headCanon only know that this is actually true and Canon on previous ask but it's okay

I mean, that... *ੈ ✩ ‧ ₊ ˚ 𝔻 𝕀 ℝ 𝔼 ℂ 𝕋 𝕃 𝕐 ˚ ₊ ‧✩ *ੈ contradicts so much of already established Shadow Puppets lore and characterization that I don't even know where to begin so...

I'm flattered that you have headcanons about this AU, but if you're acknowledging it's just your headcanon and doesn't matter maybe consider keeping it to yourself? Because you're actually coming off as pretty pushy to me and making me rather uncomfortable.

This is actually Shadow Puppets canon, Hon. Because of Philip's curse, he cannot trust his own judgement when it comes to morals so he looks to Astrophel for guidance, since he grew up believing that Astrophel is an Angel and has complete faith that his friend will help him do the right thing. The fact that Astrophel's judgement can't be trusted never crosses his mind. Astrophel's people do not have the same moral restrictions that humans do. They regularly caused mass extinction events, and committed acts of what we would consider genocide- which they don't because they believe they have the right to decide who lives and who dies. Astrophel is also a traumatized child himself, he has a lot of anger and no outlet for that anger so whether he means to or not he uses Philip's increased violent behavior as that outlet.

Basically, Philip asks "Is it alright to kill this person?" and if the person in question did something to upset Astrophel, even over the most minor slight, he'll say yes.

Yes, I mentioned that we have multiple endings in mind in a previous ask. I'm not going to describe them in detail because we're no where close to them, but we have 5 endings we've discussed.

As for your question about my style...I'm really not sure what you're asking, honestly.

If you're asking why I draw them in this style. Because it's my style? I guess I could draw imitating the show, but I don't really like it. Like the style is fine I'm not saying the show's style is bad, but it's too far removed from my own style and I don't enjoy the process of mimicking it, I have more fun just drawing them in my own. Besides I'd rather have people know the Shadow Puppets AU because they recognize my art.

Also I don't really consider my style "Anime" anyway. I certainly have my share of Anime influences, but I'm an older animation fan, and looking back at the cartoons and movies I watched while I was growing up, I think it has more of an influence on my style than anime.

If you mean why I draw screencap style illustrations with subtitles, I do it that way is to draw attention to the RP snippets or lore dumps beneath them. I don't do comics, I've never had a knack for designing panels, and drawing out a comic that would cover a whole scene seems redundant to me when I'm sharing the actual writing.

Thank you very much for your support but as I said in the previous ask we are nowhere near done with Shadow Puppets au at this time.

We're still writing pre-canon RPs and only just scratching the surface of our plans for the altered events of canon within the AU. There's a good chunk of stuff in the RP that I have not posted about on this blog yet, things that have only been referenced in shitposts but I have not made any serious content for because we haven't gotten to that point in the RP.

And actually we have a couple of aus of our au featuring different endings to the main story of the Shadow Puppets au because we couldn't decide on which idea we liked best, so we’re going to RP all of them.

We are not thinking about any plans for after Shadow Puppets now, and we will not be thinking about it any time soon, there's too much left of Shadow Puppets to put any consideration into what we could do with a sequel.

We're not anywhere close to finished with Shadow Puppets, so we're not thinking about future projects yet. And I bet by the time we are done with Shadow Puppets, any future projects aren't going to be ToH related.

Because I've slowly changed how I draw them just enough that I feel like it's necessary. Astrophel also no longer has the Stella-Luna Amulet in his reference because he didn't have it during the Gravesfield Era, and I changed the way it's drawn too.

So hypothetically... If Astrophel met canon Belos, how would he react?

There would be no fooling Astrophel on that front, he'd be able to tell pretty quick that this isn't his Philip. From there, we have two possibilities. 1. Astrophel refuses to listen to Belos and pretends he doesn't exist. 2. Astrophel tries to out-manipulate Belos in some fashion.
