"I suppose not even the end of the world can change human nature..."

Six hundred years ago, civilization as we know it was nearly decimated, a solar flare first knocking out our power, before we nuked each other in our ignorance. Since then, we have slowly begun to rise to our feet. We innovated new technologies, and we were granted strange abilities by a flower of unknown origin. Our world is diverse and vast, as we have begun to populate areas not inhabited in generations.

However, ambition, prejudice, greed, and bloodshed have tarnished this new world, its far reaching effects spreading through us like a plague. But there are also small glimmers of hope, little embers of humanity that can be seen if you look closely enough. Everyone in this world chases that place, that seemingly unattainable dream, in whatever form it may come. Maybe you’ll find yours.

You’re on a fourth date late one night at a restaurant - it’s been going really well. After they get up to go to the toilet their phone starts to buzz incessantly. You can’t help but crane your neck to see what the ruckus is about: “You need to get back now, the portal is closing, this is it”.
