Such a Fun Age
Such a Fun Age
Definitely a thought-provoking and a beautiful tale with takeaways to implement in our daily interactions or behavior! Full points for not being preachy even when the book is about sensitive and difficult topics. I had a love and hate relationship with this book throughout.
The story is about Emira, who is black and a baby sitter for a white Chamberlain family’s two daughters. Alix, her employer…

Nothing To See Here
Nothing To See Here
My mom had once told me that being a mother was made up of regret and then forgetting about the regret sometimes
This was a fun quirky and light-hearted read. I generally adore magical realism books but this one was partly magical keeping most of the story realistic.
Madison and Lillian who were freshman year roommates when a scandal caused one of them to be expelled after communicating with…

The Great Alone
To start off, this is an old picture from last winter when I had initially started reading the book knowing that it was voted 2018 @bookofthemonth BOTY Finalist. Since this book setting is in Alaska and it snows a lot over there, I decided to use this apt old picture. ❄️ ⁣
I loved this book ♥️ for multiple reasons. I would highly recommend reading it. Set up in the 70s and 80s, the Allbright…

Vanished Bride
This book is a nice mix of my favorite detective Nancy Drew and the Little Women. I enjoyed discussing this book as a part of #bookstabuddieread past month. Having multiple people reading the same book along with you and getting different opinions and points to discuss is always fun!⁣
Kudos to Bella Ellis’s debut novel (Brontë Sisters Mystery #1) where Charlotte, Emily and Anne are the lady…

📚 BOOK REVIEW 📚⁣ ⁣ Another @backmansk backlisted title review is here. Can you blame me? 🤷🏻‍♀️I have decided to finish reading all his books by the year end! ☺️⁣ ⁣ What a beautiful story ♥️⁣ This is a novella under 100 pages but only Backman knows how to cast a magic spell with such less words. I was captivated by the prologue which said - ‘This is a story about memories and about letting go. It is a love letter and a slow farewell between a man and his grandson, and a man and his boy’⁣ ⁣ This book is packed with innocence and wisdom. Humans fear getting old more than death and it is projected in a very heartwarming way. The sentence that resonated with me for a long time was - ‘The only time you have failed is if you don’t try once more’⁣ ⁣ ‘Things my son needs to know about the world’ made me miss my father and this one made me weep for my grandfather and his treasured memories 😢⁣ ⁣ I may sound cliche and repetitive but here it goes... again! 🤗⁣ I highly recommend reading any of Fredrik Backman’s books if you want to understand empathy and change your perspective towards life. The breathtaking relation between old grandpa and his grandson Noah is a tear jerker, full of love and life. ⁣ ⁣ #backmanfan #fredrikbackman #empathy #books📚 #reviewer #bookclubbook #bookrecommendations #theavidbookerfly #bookishlife #bookreviews #bookshelves #booksthatmatter #readabook #readeveryday #booksofinsta https://www.instagram.com/p/B1wp1uYgFup/?igshid=zmelu11nw2kr

The Whisper Man
The Whisper Man is the trending creepy suspense thriller of Summer’19 and here I am joining the bandwagon and recommending this book to everyone!
Disclaimer – I am not a fan of horror movies or any kind of ghostly stories.
I received an ARC from Celadon Books about three months back from a GoodReads giveaway and having read some pages, I was scared and I did not pursue it further. But since…

📚BOOK REVIEW 📚⁣ ⁣ This Land Is Our Land is a timely book discussing why western countries can benefit from accepting immigrants.⁣ ⁣ The author Suketu Mehta is born in India, migrated and grew up in New York City in his pre teens. He draws some part of this book from his personal experiences and does not hold back putting any facts, stories, truths and lies for the world to see. The book focuses on the history of immigration in the world, many well researched stories to support that and also a few loopholes which are inflicted upon common man by the media.⁣ ⁣ The book speaks a lot about rich countries exploiting the other countries and hence the ripple effect of that on countries for decades. The author also highlights the human part of the stories, making you think beyond laws, borders and nationalities ⁣ There is an overdose of information and constant switching between time and place in a way that it can confuse people. My only complaint was that the author conveys his point in a very blur and oscillating manner and leaves it upto the reader to takeaway any conclusion.⁣ ⁣ As an immigrant myself, I was a bit skeptical that I may be a bit biased towards the book but I uncovered so many new things which makes me empathetic towards all the immigrants in this world.🌎⁣ ⁣ Thank you @suketumehta for writing this book. I think this will be an eye opener for many who think that immigration is an “issue” and help them see it in a positive manner, not falling prey to what the current administration wants everyone to believe.🌈⁣ ⁣ 💬 How do you deal with such heavy information overload non fiction books?⁣ *⁣ I plan to read a few chapters and come back again to it so I can grasp the information better 📝⁣ ⁣• • • • • #immigration #immigrantstories #thislandisourland #bookclubs #suketumehta #bookstoread #nonfictionbooks #awareness #manifesto #bookrecommendations #ownvoicesreviews #ownvoice #mustread (at United States of America) https://www.instagram.com/p/B1e6o7HAI4o/?igshid=wstqcbkebaty

📚 BOOK REVIEW 📚 I loved the character illustrations by #fredfordham. I enjoyed many things visually which I had not imagined earlier when I read the original by #harperlee The story focuses on getting the essence of the novel. I had fun reading this book in one sitting. 🖌 The characters of Atticus and Scout are portrayed in a very similarly strong tone like the original 🖌The original story has been told from Scout’s perspective but I had to keep that in mind while reading this one. 🖌Some important details like the explanation Atticus gives about why we should not kill a mockingbird and the attack on Scout at the end is very brief. I felt that was the important part of the story and needed more elaboration. 🖌I understand that the author cannot incorporate all the dialogues. But some which had stayed with me for long like ‘There’s only one type of folks. Folks’ and some other similar ones tend to be missing 🙁 🖌A person picking up the graphical novel without reading the original may miss on a few things, but will definitely get the theme the original book was trying to convey! There are multiple ways to enjoy a story and I am glad I picked up reading the graphical versions with a broad mind. I discovered a new way to appreciate the classics and revive the good old stories. In today’s fast forward world, this version will definitely be more relatable to the younger generation who want to know the gist of the story and I am glad this classic will be preserved for years to come! This is my third graphical adaptation book in this year! ✨ Check out my ‘Anne Frank’s Diary’ and ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ reviews too, if interested. I must say, I am loving this trend as it gives me a chance to re-read some of my favorite books! • • • • • #reviewer #graphicalnovels #bookster #bookclubs #graphical #bookstoread #bookclubofinstagram #tokillamockingbird #classicsbooks #whattoreadnext #bookishglee #booksofinstagram (at Alabama) https://www.instagram.com/p/B1XbplEgH8I/?igshid=19249krrpks84

Things You Save in a Fire
Things You Save in a Fire
Things You Save in a Fire is a heart-melting chick-lit story about kindness. This book explores so many themes in parallel – Gender bias in the workplace, family relations, romance and a nice theme based on forgiveness. It is very easy to read story and time flies by quickly! This was my first Katherine Center book and I absolutely loved her way of writing!

Life and Other Inconveniences
Life and Other Inconveniences
Life and Other Inconveniences is a very heartwarming domestic fiction. It has a perfect mix of romance, mystery, relatable characters and family drama. This book is very easy to get into thanks to the simple use of language. I breezed through the 400+ pages and enjoyed it.
For a book to be likable to me, either the story or the characters have to be strong. This was my first Kristan Higgins…

📚 BOOK REVIEW 📚 Title - The Secret of Clouds Author - Alyson Richman Storyline/Overview - The story is about Yuri, who is diagnosed by a rare health condition and isolated from all other children and his tutor Maggie. My opinion - Yuri has a rare health condition and he cannot do the things normal kids can. Maggie, a dedicated and loving teacher decides to tutor Yuri at home. As the bond between the teacher and student develops, she realizes that there is so much to learn from Yuri’s curiosity and life in general. She ends up making some changes in her personal life for good. Teachers are an epitome of love, kindness and ones having best interests for children in their life. This book is a nice tribute to their selfless nature. The story displays the other side of the coin and showcases how a teacher can learn from a student’s life as well. The parallel stories about Yuri’s parents and Maggie’s personal life are very heartwarming as well. I felt the story was a bit slow at start but then I was hooked to the plot once I was interested to know more about the characters. The end reveals the name of the book and a very nice concept related to clouds and families. Overall, It was a very uplifting, emotional and inspiring book. I loved all the characters and was invested in them. Conclusion - This novel teaches so much about kindness, love and giving without expecting. This book is also a tribute to teachers and a very emotionally resonant piece in today’s world. My rating - 🌟🌟🌟💫(3.5/5) . . . . . #thesecretofclouds #booksaboutteachers #emotionalread #bibliophilelife #netgalley #bookcommunity #bookreview #bookclub #bookshelves #bookworm https://www.instagram.com/p/B0gaYriAgaL/?igshid=f59x6m6q3veu
