it has never been so clear to me that there are queer people in the writer’s room.. i have never seen such a clear representation of the feeling of community and seeking out others who are like you. it’s what feels so incredible about this show <3
everything about the Toymaker in this bit cracks me up;;; his innocent little 'oh?' face. his fake awe as he pretends to not know who John Logie Baird is. his ridiculous eyebrow quirk. god he's the worst 😂💖💖💖
Please don't tell me no one submitted Japan for this tournament (I'm unwell - I really learned about this tournament too late). I understand if you're not looking to publish an ask like this because we can't vote in their favour anyway, but can we collectively look at them for a second:
Sorry yeah they were definitely one of the bands I was expecting to be submitted but then they just weren’t? Honestly me and Gremlin are considering doing this again because we’re missing a lot of bands
Something about the idea that voting for president only matters if you live in a swing state, and that all the people in blue states or red states can indulge themselves in principled nonparticipation because the outcomes are preordained, strikes me as akin to playing with fire.
Is it really coherent to say "both sides are awful, write in Mickey Mouse or burn your ballot or just stay home and get drunk, unless you live in Pennsylvania, in which case maybe consider taking one for the team and compromising yourself by voting for the lesser evil?" Is that really the message that will lead to a preferable outcome?
What it sounds like to me is a sign that 1) you take your local electorate for granted, and 2) you see avoiding the worst case scenario as somebody else's problem.
I remember when Florida was a swing state. I also remember when Pennsylvania wasn't.
Public speaking is actually really easy if you don't respect a single soul in that room. I've had an incredibly easy time delivering speeches when I hated everybody I saw and they all thought I did amazing because my disdain was read as confidence. I don't have any tips for you I'm just telling you a fact
Genres: Art rock, industrial, electronic, avant-pop
Lineup: Hardy Fox - keyboards, production, composer
All other members have remained anonymous by choice, instead performing with masks on. There are four active Residents in live shows, though it is unknown how many have joined or left the group or been active at any given time.
Albums from the 80s:
Commercial Album (1980)
Diskomo / Goosebump EP (1980)
Mark of the Mole (1981)
The Tunes of Two Cities (1982)
Intermission EP (1982)
(they did a lot more like A LOT)
Propaganda: These weirdos are almost certainly going to lose in round one. A group of anonymous avant garde weirdos who wear eyeball masks while playing? Not exactly most folks' idea of "hot." I just submitted them to hopefully interest a few people in checking out their strange and sometimes wonderful oveure.
Hanoi Rocks
Formed in: They were formed in 1979 (Razzle joined in ‘82)
Genres: Glam punk, glam rock
Lineup: Michael Monroe- vocals
Andy McCoy- lead guitar
Nasty Suicide- rhythmic guitar
Razzle- drums
Sami Yaffa- bass
Albums from the 80s:
Bangkok Shocks, Saigon Shakes, Hanoi Rocks (1981)
Oriental Beat (1982)
Self Destruction Blues (1982)
Back to Mystery City (1983)
Two Steps from the Move (1984)
Propaganda: a criminally underrated band whose musical influenced many popular bands like GNR. Also they are all so pretty! Like Micheal Monroe is absolutely gorgeous and is giving me complete gender envy, if they get out first round I’m going to cry.
Propaganda: While their biggest hits were very bubblegum and upbeat, these girls came up in the LA Punk scene and had the bite to back that up. Rolling Stone ranked the Hardest Partying Bands and The Go Go's came in 3rd, right behind Mötley Crüe and Led Zeppelin. Their songs are certified bops and great to blast on a road trip and their style was pure LA Mall Rat which, frankly, still iconic.
Propaganda: Weird and wondeful, XTC made it a point to actively avoid any familiar approaches and clichés in their songs, and maintained a solid cult following. They also had decent success when they used a pseudonym to play psychedelic rock.
So I've been making marionette puppets of my neighbors (I'm taking a class) and let me tell you my landlord/building manager was SUPER not prepared to see the wooden version of him (he lives on my floor) when he came in to fix my stove
Anon no offense but I think I would call the police if I found out one of my neighbours was making wooden puppets of me without my knowledge
