Unruhe has such a grasp on me. the way mulder is looking at scully. the way she is looking at him. the fact that he RUNS after the car screaming her name. the complete emotional breakdown only staved off by needing to find her and find her fast.

and when he does find her they just keep screaming each other's names like that alone will bring them back together like two magnets ripping through everything between them.

and then there's this parallel that just. rips out my heart. looking at the same picture and being incredibly fucked up over it.

i think the biggest difference between mulder & scully regarding their craziness/weirdness ... scully has to care about what other people think. she can't just flaunt it and she chooses carefully who gets to see it and when she unleashes it. she wields it as armor, defense, a weapon. she holds it close to her chest, as something precious & private. like her grief, until she can't hold it in anymore. she uses it to keep distance. a protection, a last ditch effort. mulder's is a vulnerability he can't hide. he made it his life purpose, his belief. it connects him to everyone & everything. he clings to it with all his might. he intellectualizes & justifies it. it's his great leaps in logic that defy logic. their tendencies differ. mulder uses it, scully suppresses it.

clean room, nice bed, cow accidentally crashed through the roof, 3.5 stars

sometimes i wonder if scully ever leaves reviews for the motels they're staying at.

"acceptable mattress quality, nice sheets, room was burned down by an artist but otherwise okay. 3.5 stars"

"wonderful view, rustic charm, good water pressure in the shower. i was kidnapped in the middle of the night and the lock lasted a surprising amount of time before being kicked in. 4.7 stars"
