hi! what are your methods for overcoming/managing stress/apprehension regarding things you have no power to change? my exam results are coming out next monday and i want to enjoy the rest of this week but i'm constantly stressing out!! help~

hi! that can be really difficult and I’ve definitely struggled with that a lot in the past couple of years. 

and honestly? it’s kind of a process. it takes practice to say “i did what i could and that is enough, whatever will be will be” and then let things unfold organically. but you’ve already done it and can’t change anything else about it now, so why waste the energy on worrying about it? 

even if these exams determine what schools you might get into or something else that it important to your future, it’s just one very small part of the stuff that makes up your life. there are many paths to success and we each have to determine what makes the journey worth it for us. what do you love to do? do more of it. take extra good care of yourself this week. be extra nice to yourself this week because you’re a shiny star and you deserve it.

doesn’t matter. you are made of stardust. isn’t that incredible? you’re delightful and unique and special and grades are just a small representation of how well someone else thought you did in one thing that one time. you want to know a sentence that changed my life? “your GPA is just one line on your resume.” it isn’t a representation of your worth or your values or you. are grades important? yes - but only to a point. you are so much more important!

put on your favorite music, eat something tasty, hang out with some friends, take a nap and let it go. it’s not worth stressing over things that we can’t change. i can’t even tell you how many times in my life i have stressed myself out to the point of actual illness over things i couldn’t change. shit happens friend, and if it doesn’t come out how you wanted then learn from the experience and try again next time. 

I hope everything goes well, I’ll be sending some good vibes your way. your homework this week is to be nice to yourself and make time for something you enjoy. Take care ~Nicole
