(I realize it’s already past the holidays, but this fic is finally complete.)
Now Sansa understands why so many people are depressed around Christmas, the loneliest day of the year. Her relationship has suddenly ended and her brothers and sister have cancelled on the family Christmas she’s been planning for months. She’s going home to their Winterfell compound in upstate New York - alone.
But before she can get there, she misses the last train and finds herself stranded. A homeless vet comes to her rescue. Soon, Sansa is surrounded by an inviting group who are down on their luck. She invites them to come home and spend the holiday with her. Her good intentions, however, don’t turn out the way she expected.

Chapter 65 - A Leap Forward
Sansa returns home to Sandor. He promises that together they will make changes to their home and their life that will reflect their life together as a couple. With the success of Something New, their life settles into a comforting routine with an exciting future ahead of them.
Chapter 66 - The Family You Choose
Sansa has a special gift for Sandor, one that reminds him of the few happy times from his childhood. Sandor proposes and Sansa accepts. But as they plan for their wedding, Sansa decides to try and fix her relationship with Jon. At first he refuses, but when faced with threats of violence from Ygritte, he realizes the wealth he has in family. Jon attends the wedding and presents a very unexpected gift to Sansa and Sandor.

Sansa begins to try and explain her reasons for doing what she did. At first, Sandor is just happy to see her, but deeper emotions begin to surface. His anger and resentment become apparent. He gives Sansa an ultimatum.

Chapter 63 - Call Me Little Bird
After all this time, Sandor finally confronts Sansa. His emotions are mixed and turmoiled, but evidence of Sansa’s true nature becomes apparent when he meets her shopkeeper.
Their reunion is sweet at first, but as Sandor allows his emotions and concerns to surface, he worries that he’ll become too bitter.

And the question is, what animal should he be in this story? You can pick any animal: dog, cat, penguin - anything will work! 🐧 SS
In my fics, I usually make Stranger a dog. In only one he was actually a horse. But I love cats, too, and could imagine Stranger as a flea-bitten, feisty tomcat.
