currently thinking about atsumu who is both furious and hurt about the fact that the two most important people in his life thought it would be best to break the news to him last: osamu about quitting volleyball, and kiyoomi about signing with a french volleyball club and moving halfway across the world.

he almost laughs at the irony of the whole thing—his heart belonging to volleyball, and getting it broken because of volleyball.

my boat bullshit again

a pile of chocolate wrappers sits next to an equally sized pile of unopened chocolate on the coffee table in the living room.

he didn’t look like it, but kiyoomi loves sweets. atsumu thinks he’s never seen his stock of sugary snacks in his apartment diminish in the six months they’ve been dating.

“whoa omi-kun, slow down on the chocolate, you’ll give yerself a tummy ache!”

in response, kiyoomi holds eye contact as he wordlessly pops another piece of chocolate in his mouth.

atsumu stares back at him, unimpressed, from the other side of the couch. “omi, seriously, what if ya get diabetes or somethin’ when we’re like 40?”

“well, at least you’ll be there to take care of me,” kiyoomi answers offhandedly as he reaches for another sweet treat.

it’s quiet after that, which has kiyoomi confused, because his mouthy boyfriend always has something to say next. he turns to find atsumu smirking.

“what?”

atsumu scoots closer and places his arm on the back of the couch, leaning closer into kiyoomi’s personal space, and in that moment kiyoomi knew he was about to be a little shit.

“omi-kun,” he purrs, “was that an indirect marriage proposal just now?”

kiyoomi frowns and runs through what he just said in his head, and freezes at the implication of his words. yup, it sounded an awful lot like he still expected atsumu to be around in their 40s—like it was a given. they’ve been dating for less than a year, and he’s revealed how down bad he already is. oh god.

“absolutely not,” he says anyway, and turns to reach for another piece of chocolate to hide his reddening cheeks, even if the one in his hand is still unopened.

“ya know yer ears also get red when ya blush, right?”

goddamit, why did he have to be dating a smug asshole?

kiyoomi turns around to be an asshole back in the hopes of salvaging some of his dignity, but he stops at the sight of his boyfriend’s expression—instead of the usual smirk he expected, something soft, something fond took its place instead. if kiyoomi didn’t know any better, he would say his boyfriend is looking quite smitten at the moment.

“i’d love to take care of ya though,” atsumu says. “i’d remind ya to take yer maintenance medicine and rub yer feet when they get sore from all the walkin’ and accompany ya to all yer check-ups. in sickness and in health, an’ all that.”

he sounds so earnest, it makes kiyoomi crack a smile. “i’m glad to know i’m not the only one who’s down bad in this relationship.”

atsumu knocks their foreheads together. “me too.”

“so is that a yes then?” kiyoomi is full on smiling now, the kind that makes his eyes crinkle, the kind that only atsumu is able to bring out in him.

“only if ya get me a pretty ring, omi-omi,” atsumu says. kiyoomi kisses the tip of his nose.

“anything for you, my future husband.”
