can't stop thinking about how the "convinced to return for one last job" trope is a kind of resurrection. digging up a restless corpse that maybe should have stayed buried.

fellas is it gay to magically dry the clothes of the woman you're escorting on a mission to hopefully get her sacrificed (instead of bringing her to the king to be put on trial for failing her sacrifice the first time) right after being rightly accused by her of trapping her in the inn's room with you so she can't run and get you in further trouble with the guards as you're already disobeying orders?

I got things to DO today, including (but not limited to): finish homework for one class so it's out of the way, term paper work for another class, going to the grocery store, emails for my internship, and maybe finally get a blog post up because i completely missed last week's due to feeling awful the whole week
will maybe post little updates or do other things throughout the day to keep myself motivated! honestly, my new wip is the main thing keeping me going rn lol

9. which ocs sleep to complete silence vs. need white noise vs. need music?
Honestly, I think all of them need some sort of white noise while sleeping. The guards likely never got a completely silent night's of rest, between being in barracks and sleeping in inns and on the road. The noise almost becomes a comfort, and that base level of noise lets them know they're safe. Fastyma, while not a guard, had the constant murmur of the temple, which operated at all hours, which accompanied her as she drifted off to sleep each night. The silence would just remind her that she's no longer home.
19. which ocs are absolutely uninterruptable when working?
Balkyn takes her job seriously, almost too seriously. If she were to have an office, she would definitely have one of those signs that are like "Do not knock unless you have more coffee, the building is burning down, or [insert something ridiculous here]". Love her, but girl will not eat, drink, or pee whenever she is working, which leads to shenanigans where everyone tries to interrupt her as much as possible to get her to stop working so she can go take care of herself.
Thanks for the ask!

1 and 4 answered here!
23. which ocs have the most book intelligence? which have the least?
Balkyn obviously has the highest book intelligence of the three guards, being the mage (gotta read a lot on how the world works so you don't accidentally break it or yourself), but Fastyma has a surprising amount of book intelligence for a sacrifice, as by the year of her sacrifice, the trend has become to not even teach sacrifices how to read or write. While I wouldn't call Ry stupid, I would say she likely has the least book intelligence out of the quartet, mostly because she just doesn't think it's worth her time to read books when she can Get Things DONE.
28. which ocs like coffee more than tea?
Ooooooo this one's fun. I think Balkyn is one of those people who you think would be a tea snob, but actually just drinks whatever the fantasy equivalent of gas station coffee is (of course, no milk or sugar). Tea is just too complicated for her, and she prefers things simple. Jarlin would probably like coffee more than tea, too, mostly because I could see the Northern Ranges being like Finland lol.
Thanks for the ask!

OC ask game:
7, 13 and 18?
7. which ocs would feel super out of place at a formal event? which ocs are completely fine with it?
Part of being a guard, no matter what level you're on, is expecting that at some point, you'll be at a formal event. Most types of guards have explicit, mandatory training for formal events (except for rangers like Ry, but she did proceed with some optional training), so while they would be alert at such an event, Ry, Balkyn, and Jarlin would all be fine with being at formal events.
Fastyma, having only seen formal events from a distance, would have absolutely no clue what to do with herself. Would definitely be the kind of person who would try to find the cat or dog somewhere just so she could avoid speaking to people.
13. which ocs make the rules? which ocs follow those rules, and which ocs break them?
Balkyn makes all of the rules. Pretty much what she says goes, and for the most part, everyone follows. Ry will break rules sometimes, though, if she thinks it's advantageous to do so. Fastyma has thought about breaking the rules multiple times, but hasn't yet de to her position within the group.
18. which ocs will bend the rules as much as possible without breaking them? which do it to get what they want, and which do it just for spite?
As mentioned before, Ry will mess with the rules in order to get ahead. Within the different guards of the kingdom, hierarchy is strictly enforced, but she's a bit impatient when it comes to rising up the ranks. So, she'll bend any rule she needs to, and twist reality to knock down anyone who's in her way :D
Thanks for the ask!

1-5 for the oc asks lesgo
1. which ocs are the most touch-starved?
Out of the main crew, Fastyma is definitely the most touch-starved (but she doesn't realize it). Growing up in a temple dedicated to the death god will do that to you. The others have all been in guard training long enough that they've *bonded*, and therefore have grown used to random people laying on top of them and stuffs.
2. which ocs are most likely to be caught eating cheese at 3 am?
Balkyn, our lovely, lovely, dumbass mage. Definitely the type to study for hours upon end without realizing, and then being like "oh shit I'm having every status effect At Once(tm)". Therefore, cheese at 3 in the morning.
3. which ocs can, and do, go days without sleeping?
Everyone probably can go days without sleeping, between guard training and death god temple, but Ry is definitely the one who is most likely to actually do so. After all, gotta work the hardest to get on top ;)
4. which ocs sleep curled up vs. spread out vs. moves a lot during the night?
Fastyma is always curled up when sleeping. Jarlin depends on whether he has someone to cuddle with (will curl up if there's someone, will move around CONSTANTLY is he doesn't). Balkyn also moves around a lot, as magic dreams will do that to you. Finally, Ry definitely manspreads in her sleep. No one wants to be in the same bed as her.
5. which ocs sleep with the window open vs. closed?
Funnily enough, this is actually a major plot point upcoming in the draft. Balkyn and the other guards have been taught to always have windows shut when they sleep indoors, but Balkyn is the only one to follow to the letter. Her safety precautions when sleeping in inns are almost ridiculous to Fastyma, who often spent the sticky summers of her youth sleeping with open windows, but she quickly learns to not push it.
But, let's just say, there is *one* time when Balkyn leaves the window open...
Thanks for the ask!
