I’ve admittedly not been on at all lately as things have been chaos, just not entirely in a bad way. I’m trying to figure things out as far as future plans go and the stress levels have been low because I’m not having to pay for everything under the sun for 3-4 people total because people can’t keep jobs. They’ve had steady jobs for a bit now.
I’m plowing through online courses currently. Most of the time they’re good stress relief and have been requiring me to get my focus and motivation back. I miss writing. I hope this a step in a positive direction for that.
i will never be over the fact that during first contact a human offered their hand to a vulcan and the vulcan was just like “wow humans are fucking wild” and took it
end the movie poster pose enabling the audience a view of both the female characters chest and derriere while any male characters get to face the camera and be all action-y.
I’ve honestly felt so ashamed by how little I’ve done this year, but i just really wasn’t in a good place mentally for it 95% of the year.
I’m 27yo. I’ve been writing fic religiously since I was 10yo. I’ve gone through various pen-names, deleted various accounts over the years, which deleted much of that track record, but I was ALWAYS writing year-round round, and to have only posted a couple things all year SUCKS. And yes, there are several WIPs in my folders that just never got finished, and I DO have some original work in those folders too, but I seriously can’t write worth a damn while having an existential crisis that’s pretty much been year long.
So yes, I too really needed this tonight. We’re almost at a new year and I was feeling like I’ve accomplished nothing. It’s nice to not feel alone, or to have a ton of blame.
I was thinking about why I prefer to read manga over American comics (as in, monthly serialized comics) and, putting aside opinions about the “quality” of either medium, I think the reason why is because I have absolutely no idea how American comics work.
Say you’re a complete noob to manga. You don’t know shit about it. But that One Piece thing you saw on TV looks really cool and you want to read it. Where do you start? Volume 1 and go from there.
But imagine the same situation but with comics. You just saw the new Spiderman movie and now you got a craving for more like it. Where do you begin? Well, no one knows because there’s been 901823434^34 different iterations of the character for decades.
With manga, there’s usually one guy (and maybe a team of artists under them to help) working on it. Even if it goes on for years or may switch leads, there’s usually some “consistency” to keep everything in check. With American comics on the other hand, it’s the complete opposite: you have multiple different writers and artists, each contributing their own take on the character: alternate timelines, alternate motifs, etc etc. It’s all a big clusterfuck to me and I have no idea how anyone can keep track of it all.
i walk into starbucks and order a pumpkin spice latte with 13 shots of espresso. i tell the barista that i intend to transcend humanity and become a god. i ask for no whip cream
I still have fond hilarious memories of calling our male music class teacher “Mom” and the utterly confused look on his face as he gaped and wasn’t sure how to respond XD
I worked with toddlers and pre schoolers for three years. Sometimes I accidentally slip and tell a friend to say bye to an inanimate object (“say bye bus!”) & occasionally they unthinkingly just do it.
