Spoliers for basically all of The Magnus Protocol under the cut!
Today I'm thinking about the pattern of disbelief we've seen thus far. Let me explain.
We begin with episode 7, with the charity shop. Ms. Margolis is resigning and claims that she has had no help from the Oxford People's Trust.
She reached out multiple times during the course of her experience and did not receive help from her employer.
Then we have episode 8, the thesis paper. We open with this.
Mr. Stevens wrote about his experience and yet he isn't believed by his tutor.
Then we come to episode 12, where Ms. Bennett (of the Mr. Bonzo strip club incident) has her insurance claim denied. Again, a horrific experience brushed off entirely.
And then, most recently, we have episode 13.
Mr. Laurel explains his experience just like everyone else, but he is similarly 'denied' or otherwise not believed.
All of these people fully explain their supernatural occurrence, and plenty of them have physical evidence to back their stories up (often in the form of physical harm to themselves, notably), but all of them are outright disbelieved. I just think it's an interesting motif to have seen in a third of the episodes thus far. I wonder where it's going, or if it'll mean anything.
Spoilers for The Magnus Protocol episodes 10 and 12!
Ok, so I’ve been thinking a lot about this. In episode 10, during Bonzo’s entrance, there’s a lot of noise happening. There’s the creaking of the steps, the music, some violin(?) noises, but there’s also Bonzo noises.
Let me jump forward a little. In episode 12, Bonzo (post-murder) is described as ‘raising its head, tilting it coquettishly to one side’…. ‘And it boomed playfully “Bonzo? Bonzo Bonzo?”’
Picture that, if you will. This horrible monstrosity, covered in blood and weeping pus(?), tilting its head and basically giggling at you.
Now, let’s jump back to episode 10, his entrance. I’m going to add an audio file here so you can hopefully hear what I’m talking about.
Right at the very end, just before Nigel says ‘Mr. Bonzo’, I swear to god Bonzo says ‘Ta-da!’
The reason I connect this to episode 12 is that his mannerisms in episode 12 confirm this idea for me. It just seems so in character!
TLDR: I think Bonzo says ‘Ta-da’ when he comes down the stairs to meet Gwen!
I’d love to hear from @jonnywaistcoat himself of course, but this is just my thought!
It’s finished! Nikola Orsinov kidnapping Jon sent me spiraling so I had to paint it. The horrors he endures😵💫🥺 poor Jon. I don’t think the creators meant to have the wax figures melting but that’s how it is in my head
Soooo I finished @jonnywaistcoat ‘s Thirteen Storeys today, and I LOVED it. My only qualm with the book was that it had no table of contents. So…I fixed that.
