When I was a little kiddin, I would do anything to prove I was capable of doing stuff. There was this crab shack I used to go to that had a huge sand pit playground thing, and one time when I was about... 6 or 7 maybe? Some other kid dared me to eat the sand. So I did. I chewed it and I swallowed it, to prove I wasnt pussy.

Fast forward to about 15-20 minutes later, im sitting at the table in the outdoor seating area and i suddenly keel over the railing separating the playground from the eating area and just... puke the sand back into the pit. I later covered it up with more sand. I have no clue how my parents didnt notice.

mine was when I was trying to establish my dominance over a group of older boys so I caught a live fish with my bare hands and swallowed it whole while maintaining eye contact. like gollum.

completely untested theory but

i think social media not only has eroded ideas of privacy (”if you have nothing to hide why do you care?”), but in a much more harmful way it promotes the notion that there should be no difference between public thoughts and private behaviour. But this is totally bogus because people behave differently according to different situations, and this isn’t being “fake”, it’s just what navigating social situations in a proficient manner is like. 

The way I behave with my friends and my family, the way I behave in private, is not for public consumption. Nor should it be. Publicness is a matter of choice, it shouldn’t be mandatory. People are not entitled to anyone’s private thoughts on anything. People have a right to decide what they wish to show in public and what they wish to hide.

Our origin! Not in terms of the general origin, but the timing. We're a very young system chronologically (we just hit our first year as a sys) but we are adaptive/traumabased. We've looked for trauma or signs of being a system before then, in childhood, and there's nothing even though we remember those years. So it's safe to say we formed very late. That's our unusual trait.

Traumagenic Walk-Ins

Disclaimer: Sysmeds shouldn’t touch this post. This is not for you. Traumagenic does not equal DID/OSDD and endogenic does not equal nondisordered. This is one of those grey-areas in origin that some headmates experience, and we’d like to have a term to describe our experiences.

A traumagenic walk-in is, in basic terms, a walk-in that was caused by trauma. This headmate is usually spiritual in nature due to being a walk-in, though not always. This usually describes a headmate who walked-in to help with the trauma in some way, but they don’t need to have a “purpose”–this is just a common experience from what we’ve seen.

This is a mashup of terms we’ve made to describe our personal experiences with certain walk-in headmates, and you definitely don’t have to use it if you don’t feel it fits. We’re posting this here because it’s helped multiple people who were feeling lost about their origins recently, and we want to help more.

To elaborate more on what this is… In OUR personal experience, we have certain walk-ins who have come in due to what we believe to be fate or some higher power putting them here to help us. Whether they do it actively through being a protector headmate, or if they’re just here to be another friend or another person to front when we need them to, they’re here for some sort of purpose, and we believe that they walked-in due to the trauma we’ve experienced or are experiencing.
