Here is what those designs were for!!

My MAP call is up for my Last Unicorn themed Peril MAP!! Here's the basic AU for it:

This is an AU based on the events of Escaping Peril! After Scarlet took back control of the Skywing Kingdom with Soar/Chameleon's help. Due to the enchantment from the necklace Soar gave Peril, she is beginning to forget herself. Much of her old life with her friends is a blur now. She believes her old life is unreachable, Scarlet told her that all of it was taken by the “red bull” (aka probably just some big scary skywing in this), and Peril will be safe with her again in the palace. But Peril still feels part of old self trying to tell her to find out what is really wrong.

Ruby has lost power but has been allowed to live in the Skywing Palace as long as she doesn't challenge Scarlet's authority. Ruby has recognized there is something going on with Peril and is trying to help her. Ruby is still hesitant about liking Peril but has been getting to know her.

Yes!! Finally I'm gonna post her here!

Now this is just a design for a MAP call I'm releasing tomorrow but I love it a lot so I'll probably use it as her actual design for a while!! The first one is her "de-flamed" when she puts on Chameleon's necklace, she is pale, not as pale as Sky but still oddly colored for a skywing. The second design is her back with firescales, she's happy and content with herself. Her feathers are firey, oh and she looks like a unicorn yes (a hint to what the MAP will be based on haha. My current big interest is unicorns and a certain book). But she's also sparkly and glows.

Lore Post: Icewing Biology

So, me being your local Icewing obsessed nerd, I’m gonna make a lore post about it!

ICEWINGS - draconis glaciesunguis (iceclaw dragon)

Dragonets of this species are covered in a thick coat of fur when they hatch, with only their feet and faces exposed. This is a delicate time, they need to be kept from the harsh cold. After the first few weeks the dragonet will venture out supervised. Finally learning to fly in tiny bursts around 5 months of age, and then fully being able to take off when reaching 7 months to a year. They will keep their fuzzy coat until around age 3. Age 3 is a year where they suddenly get much bigger. They fully shed their original baby fur and will start growing in a pattern that they will keep the rest of their lives. Their fur insulates them and protects their sensitive areas. They also have blubber, only a few inches thick which also keeps them warm. Some Icewings have more fur than others, this doesn’t make too much difference except in the rare cases when an Icewing is left with none. This makes living harder, not impossible, but harsher. Luckily dragonkind does make warm garments to wear!

One famous example of a furless Icewing was the ancient Queen Diamond, she was a rare case of not just losing all her fur after dragonethood, but being born with none. Many hatchlings would die in that case but since she was royalty everything was done to keep her alive. And live she did. She wore lots extravagant outfits to keep warm.

When they are babies their horns are very short much like other dragonets in different tribes. Around age 4-5 horns and spikes start to grow out more. But some Icewings take a while to grow theirs, not properly growing in until age 7-8

Lynx herself looked very “immature” since hers took a while to properly grow in (This is my own explanation for why Snowfall was acting that she was much more mature than Lynx when at most they’re only a few months apart in age, other than Snowfall was much more self-centered in the beginning)

Long horns are prized and praised in the kingdom, they hold pride in it. Icewing horns are also unique in the fact that Icewings shed them once every couple of years, they take at most a month to grow back, and they look rather silly to others when they freshly shed. As a dragon grows older the longer their horns are and the less they fall off. Their long spikes also shed. Horns and spikes are collected used in medicine, art projects, sometimes given to dragonets to teethe on, and more. Some Icewings get carvings on their horns and get new ones every time they grow new ones.

Fathom! Now he doesn't have visual scars on him from his trauma like Indigo does, but his eyes are what convey it. I gave him a dark under eye for that tired look, my boy needs some rest. I hope he got to pursue his art career. though fatherhood might've made him a bit too busy for a while haha

Lore Post: Why do seers have a teardrop as well?

Gonna start doing these for fun! And just to answer this question incase it ever comes up! These will host the lore for my designs, whether its biology or a headcanon for a character that I want to talk about!

Now you might see some of my art and go, hm seers aren’t supposed to have teardrop scales! Why? 

Well, dear reader, it’s because I said so! Haha that’s just half of it actually. I think the teardrops are a super pretty look, it comes from me wanting to add embellishment to Clearsight’s design, and also from a biological standpoint it’d make sense. Mindreaders have the scales to warn others "hey! I’m hearing your thoughts!” so why wouldn’t seers have one to say “hey! I’m seeing your future possibly!”. Typically it’s a much smaller scale, and placed opposite to the mindreader. But variations occur!

A young Darkstalker design! With almost his trademark Darkstalker Red ™, but didnt want to make the bg too distracting. I gave him plenty of his dad’s traits just because we all know that’d piss him off.

New Clearsight design! I’m still fond of my old green Clearsight, but I think for drawing the Dream Team (darkstalker, fathom, clearsight) having more variety than just two green dragons and a blue one works better for me. So as a call back she has green star markings. Anyways Clearsight is my fave Im her number one fan

Thoughtful! A handsome man but in a cringe fail way, I like him alot actually. I think we as a fandom should make up a story/draw more of him and Whiteout’s life after the events of Darkstalker, they deserve it!!
