Things I Need to Put out There

Long time no see, Tumblr.  Most of my followers probably left Tumblr many months ago, and those of you who remain probably forget who I am.  None of that concerns me.  I just need to tell anyone who cares to listen about someone I recently got to know quite well.

It turns out that she also loves all the things I have always wished other people loved: writing letters, real phone calls, the best parts of the past, reading, writing, art, intellectual discourse, and so much more.  I realized that up until now, I hadn't met anyone who enjoyed those things as much as I do, so I never really honed those skills as much as I wished I could.  I realized I changed myself (or, more accurately, hid parts of myself) to fit what others wanted simply because I was afraid of being friendless.

This person has made me realize that I need not hide those parts of myself.  This person has allowed me to be the person I have always wished I could be.  This person has showed me that there are always people out there who share many of the same beliefs you have, but who are willing to challenge you intellectually in areas where you do not agree while still respecting your viewpoints.

She is far more intelligent and attractive than me.  I get nervous every time I am speaking to her, but I long to converse with her in spite of that.  She has flaws, just as I do, but we are able to help each other with them.

I am not sure where we stand going into the future, but I cannot thank her enough.
