well my abigail hobbs hot take is that she understands alana as a shade of her mother (kind but blind, ineffectual and powerless), hannibal as a shade of her father (the monster who protects her and kills her in equal measures), and will as a mirror of herself (which is why she is repulsed and frightened by him despite all his efforts to connect with her)

Defo one of my fave scenes in the entire show. The way Hannibal shows his vulnerability, this is defo part of what he meant when he told Will “I let you know me, see me.”

No one has ever seen this side of Hannibal and lived to tell the tale. He’s giving Will a gift, sees Will as worthy of seeing his most inner thoughts and feelings.

the way hannibal talks about mischa in this scene is. 😢. he breaks eye contact with will and talks sadly but fondly of her. and his lips quiver before saying her name. like he hasnt said it in so long. his voice getting rougher like he’s about to cry. looking down as he has never talked to anyone about this subject. his breathing picking up. as a big sister this HITS!!!!!!!!! hannibal being the oldest sibling makes so much sense.

Hyperfixations are something you have to think about. You have to talk about. You have to express yourself creatively about.

I just can’t go an hour without thinking about it. The characters the history the things the science and whatever is apart of this thing you can’t stop thinking about and your head fills like a water balloon with knowledge and you constantly need more and if you see it online or in public you jolt and you feel embarrassed about it but actually not really when someone says it’s ok to talk about it but then again it’s kind of embarrassing to like this thing but yet I have the chance to talk about it.

I wore a shirt with the characters on it do you recognize them? Do you wanna talk about it? Do you like it? Oh ok who’s your favorite? Why? That’s awesome I like them too. My favorite is this character though.

What do you wanna watch tonight? I have a recommendation. You’re fine with that? Awesome. So did you know that when they made this show… did you know the inspiration for that character is… And the creator…

Can I touch lightly on this topic? Have you ever loved someone that is emotionally manipulative? Someone who can mentally play you like an instrument? Have you ever had someone step into your life and slowly remove others from it? This person could have truly loved you, but loved you in a way that was so silently violent it changed you. Then, by the time you realized it and tried to pull away, you found pieces of them stitched into every part of you.

Now imagine after painstakingly cutting them out, stitch by stitch, they are thrust back into your life. Even worse, you realize you love them. No matter how much grief this relationship has caused you, you crave their love. Their fucked up love. You push away healthy love for this weird battle of wills.

I would throw us both off the cliff too. It makes perfect sense.
