“1. Time does not heal. Time makes you forget and does a good job of making memories blurry. Take healing into your own hands - don’t wait for someone else to do it. 2. Do not waste your I love you’s. The more you flaunt the word around to people you’ve just met and early lovers, the less it will mean when love really hits. 3. Create a list of things you want to do in life. I’m not talking about going to see the northern lights or visiting Hawaii. The little things that can be easy to accomplish such as: trying caviar, painting your room, and trying that new sushi place. Checking off the little things in life is the best self-esteem boost. 4. Always take the high road. If you’re working with rude people or someone has done wrong to you, do not stoop to their level. What’s goes around will come back around. Trust me. 5. Offer to help. People appreciate someone that genuinely wants to give a helping hand whether it’s setting the table or carrying heavy boxes. 6. Stop being hard on yourself. Who cares if you did not get an A on that test? Does it matter if you embarrassed yourself at lunch the other day? Move on. We’re only human. 7. Read more. 8. Be open minded. People who can not see past their own opinions do not go anywhere in life. 9. Accept your flaws. 10. Invest in yourself. Buy yourself that new art set, or new shoes, or order some good take out. The little things in life are often over looked, but they add up in the best ways.”

Photo Diary: A Day in Edinburgh
November last year, saw me tag-along with bearded boyfriend on a couple of jobs he had further afield -one being in Edinburgh. I have wanted to go to Edinburgh for the longest time and even though it was only a fleeting visit, I was so excited for this opportunity. I played passenger princess on the way up. Knitting, snacking and just generally being delightful on the long drive. I believe it…

Books I read in 2023
2023 was a bit all over the shop when it came to the books I read. Between reading in hospital waiting rooms and then joining a book club, my reading was very diverse. So lets dive in… The Book of Life (All Souls #3), Deborah Harkness: I finished the trilogy right at the beginning of the year and enjoyed knowing how Diana and Matthews story concluded, however I weren’t done there as you will…

Books to help motivate
I always find this first part of the year the hardest. Yes it’s great having a rest after the hectic festive season but it can also be difficult to get back into the normality of working or motivated when you’re feeling burnout. These books I’m sharing today are some of my go-to’s for lighting that fire in me and I usually dip in and out of them whenever I need some sort of help or…

Books by Lang Leav
Lang Leav is perhaps one of my favourite poets. I had caught glimpses of her work online but never delved into her published editions until that great year of 2020. I’ve mentioned it multiple times here but I went hard with the poetry at the beginning of Covid. It was about the only thing that helped ease my anxiety after the evening news reported the new statistics for that day -and we all…

Books I've Bought Lately
Back in August & September, we were a bit all over the shop for all manner of occasions. Luckily, I still managed to fit in a few bookshops here and there which has resulted in quite a few new reads ready for the autumn days ahead. Before we get into all the great reads I bought, you may be wondering what happened to my book-buying ban this year. After losing both grandfathers earlier this year,…

My Favourite Bookshops | 2022
Last year I bought a lot of books -too many if I am being honest. I’ve shared a lot of those books here but I also wanted to make a round up of my favourite bookshops. Of course I have some favourites in Brecon and Hay-on-Wye too but I wanted to spotlight this little handful first from 2022. George Street, Glossop I mentioned this shop in this post, from our trip to the Peak District last year.…

Photo Diary: A Day in Whitby
Back in August, we ventured to Middlesbrough for a friends birthday and while there we couldn’t resist the chance to spend a day in Whitby. Perhaps my favourite place, we spent our Sunday in Whitby. Beginning with breakfast and then meandering through the cobbled lanes and crowds, ducking into shops and then having numerous stops for rest and replenishments: it was a wonderful reprieve from our…

The Pumpkin Spice Cafe, Laurie Gilmore
The Pumpkin Spice Café (Dream Harbour #1), Laurie Gilmore I think if you’re born here, you’re not allowed to leave p.97 Jeanie is a newcomer to the small town of Dream Harbour, where she arrives in hopes of a new life and to take over her aunts café. She meets Logan there, the local farmer who’s a bit of a loner and a crank but beloved by the towns people. With a series of events drawing them…

I finally learnt to crochet
Yup, after years of saying I wanted to learn to crochet I finally did it. After my maternal grandfather passed away, I was having an organise of my knitting projects and yarns back in March when I thought for the thousandth time how nice the colours would look in granny squares and then I went on a mission. I sat with a video on TikTok, trying to learn over and over until I finally got the hang…

Life Lately
It’s been some time since I posted anything on this little corner here. But time has passed and life is… different now. 2023 has been a tough one. One of those years where I have felt in a constant state of free-fall -never quite sure if we’re doing okay and keeping our heads above water or just kidding ourselves that we have things in hand now. Adjusting to the loss of two family members in…
