He’s perched on the windowsill
of his and Sheri’s room, one leg
tucked up close to his chest as
he uses the other to gently rock
Holli’s crib and keep his little
angel asleep. Eyes closed, he
keeps his father’s pocket watch
drawn up close to his mouth,
wishing that he could remember
even the slightest bit of the
pleasant times he’d had with his
family before the “accident”.
Trevor’s practically dead to the
world... Literally and figuratively.

How old are you? FIVE?”

She’s changed him in more ways than
she’ll probably ever know. Except for
the occasional mental slip, the decaying
body, and the moonlighting as a deadly
assassin bit, he was nearly back to his
old self. It was all because of Sheri--
her determination to find a person
underneath that armor and her sheer
will to fix said person was what had brought
him back from the edge.
He had almost lost himself to the Owls;
he had almost believed the lies they had
been forcing down his throat. But now
Trevor knew better. He WAS a man, not
merely a PAWN for them to control. And
yet...
Her words make his skin crawl, and the
hand she lays on him does little to comfort
him in that moment.
“Sheri, darling, I know YOU promised.
I know YOU would do anything in your
power to see Holli grow up in our care,”
he sighed, moving across the room to
set the little girl down in her crib. “But
I NEVER heard Lee or Dick promise,
and now?
We’re down at least ONE of our
allies if not TWO. Pregnant or not,
Lee would fight to the DEATH to
protect you, but do you think Dick
will let her now that she’s knocked
up?
Of course not.
If you and Holli and I are on the run,
that leaves Bruce and Dick and the
new boy wonder-wannabe to defend us.
Nicole might not help--she never liked
me--and Lee is...
Well. Anyway. This may not end how
we want it to.”
The halfling just rolls her eyes in response.
Some things never changed, no matter how
much you slept with them tried. The goggles
and mask come off, revealing the worn but
handsome face of her lover. She’s savoring
those ocean blue eyes as he leans over and
kisses her forehead affectionately.
She doesn’t take the action lightly– Sheri
knows fully well that for Trevor, who had
been cheated out of the remainder of his
childhood over mistakes and revenge, to
properly LOVE and be loved was hard. It
was hard to believe that every care and
kiss wasn’t some TOOL to be used in his
destruction later on ; it was real and it was
theirs to cherish.
Sheri reaches up and touches his cheek
gently, quietly mourning its lack of warmth.
“Don’t be silly. You’re not going to be stuck
with the Court long enough for that to happen.
We’re going to get you out. We PROMISED
you that. A new life elsewhere while the others
eradicate their presence here. You’ll be able
to see Holli grow up or I swear on the Elders,
I’m going to raise Heaven and Hell to ensure it.”
And when a Whitelighter swore on the
Elders, they meant it.

“You know you love me, darling---
DECAYING skin, and all.”
Slowly, carefully, so as not to wake up
the incredibly precious child in his
heavily armored embrace, Trevor
reaches a hand up to pull the mask
and goggles from his face, tossing
them onto the bed. Enough of the
Court’s presence for one night; he
had just enough time to spend a few
hours with his... his FAMILY before
he had to return to the nest.
He still rocks the child in his arms
but moves closer to Sheri to give
her a light peck on her forehead.
Trevor could honestly not remember
a time that he had felt so safe and
so LOVED. It was a heartbreaking
thought, but to know that after all
these years of pain and suffering
that he had THIS to come home to
at the end of a trying day...
He wouldn’t trade either of them
for anything. Not even for the
chance to have his OLD life back.
“Do you really think so? I-I
don’t know, Sheri. With how
often I come and go, I’d be
surprised if she even
RECOGNIZED me when
she’s older...”
She stops in mid-step as she’s enter-
-ing their room in the Manor (a temp-
-orary thing, until the proper arrange-
-ments could be made). This was har-
-dly anything she expected to see after
a doctor’s visit. And a double-check
by the brilliant Alfred Pennyworth him-
-self.
“I knew your face was scary, but I didn’t
think it was THAT bad.”
Okay, maybe that was a low blow. But
Trevor knew fully well that she loved that
face of his and her insults were empty. The
brunette strides across the room and stands
beside him, watching Holli sleep comfortably
in her father’s arms. It’s as if she already had
the intuition to know that her father was the
one who was behind the mask.
“I shouldn’t be surprised. She’s a smart girl
already. Probably had your voice memorized
in the womb…”

It’s more than likely that the
very LAST thing Sheri
expected was to come home
to Trevor rocking their little
girl to sleep---
---in full uniform.
He hears the door creak as
she enters, and the Talon
slowly turns around to catch
his girlfriend at the door. She
can’t see the smile that’s
plastered across his face at
the dozing child in his arms,
but maybe she can HEAR it.
“She wouldn’t stop crying
unless I put the mask back
on...
A-And the singing. She liked
it when I sang to her.”

Icy eyes widened as the other
turned around to catch him,
and Trevor froze mid-step. He
supposed he shouldn’t have
been following the other Talon,
but the night was almost over;
he’d be returning to the nest
soon.
“Apologies, I was just... watching.
I have been having some trouble
adjusting to... all of this.
I wanted to see what I was
doing wrong.”

The Talon’s eyes narrowed behind his goggles when he had noticed that he was being followed. And by another Talon none the less. How strange. Either the Court had wanted something, or the little owl was lost. That aside, he turned to the other Talon, the annoyance clear on his face.
“It’s not wise to sneak up on me. What do you want?”

Trevor’s gloved hand clenched,
the dark blood from the heart
dripping down his arm. He didn’t
mean the boy any harm--not at
the moment--but the Talon was
only doing what he’d been told.
The Court had said that Batman
and his collection of vigilantes
were not to be trusted...
But to be either won over or
scared.
Though he didn’t know how to
do the first option, he did know
how to scare someone.
“T-- Talon. I am Talon.
I don’t mean any h...
harm. Pr...omise.”
The child froze as the organ fell at his feet, the edge of his boots getting splattered in dark blood. Every nerve in his body screamed for him to jump away from the ‘present’ and arm himself, yet his eyes gazed downwards, both horror and familiarity clouding his vision.
Until he remembered the one who dropped the heart in the first place, standing right before. Clamoring backwards, Damian’s head snapped up to face the now apparent enemy, his previous trance breaking for at least the moment.
“W-who the hell are you?!”

“You are quite welcome.”
He didn’t move as she walked past,
but his head followed her. She posed
no threat to him at the moment, but
he did not want her hurt. At least a
part of him didn’t, though he was
unsure as to why.
“...This is not a place for weakness, true.
But just because you are defeated does
not mean you are weak.
My shift is almost over. Let me accompany
you. Please. I do not wish for you to be hurt.”
“…. Well, thanks for the warning …”
“And I thank you for your worrying,” she stated, slowly walking past him, keeping herself at teh ready for anything dangerous he might pull. “But I’ll take my chances if it means I’ll learn something new. If I get hurt, or if I die, it was simply because I’m too weak.”

The Talon had to admit that he
was a tad bit... stunned by the
other’s reaction. Bright-eyed
and grinning so spectacularly
that it nearly blinded Trevor, the
kid seemed more than eager to
learn. He could work with that.
A smirk crossed his face, and
Trevor pulled the one sword
left un-dented from its sheath
and held it out to the other.
“First you have to learn how
to hold it.
THEN you use it.”
“YES! More than anything.”
Well, maybe not more than anything, but he
certainly was curious. He was more than
thrilled that the other male had offered to help
after he’d dented his precious sword, and his
glowing eyes &&. radiant smile gave this fact
away.
“—Will you teach me?”

He grins and shakes his
head, chuckling as he
brings a hand up to his

that’s for sure.
“Very funny, miss....
Hm. I didn’t catch your name.”
“I’m tellin ya, man. I’m a funny
fuckin’ chick. Got some top-
notch humor over here. Unless
it’s notch yer thing.”
There she goes, doubling over in
laughter over the worst joke ever.

Motor City Comic Con went so well! Lots of amazing people to talk to, and I received tons of compliments on my characters.
A big thanks to joshuadraws for these sketch card commissions of Trevor and Lee. So wonderful and so in character– his art is fantastic!
