Begging swifties to understand that Taylor didn’t write reputation and Lover with the knowledge of how the relationship was going to end and that trying to “excavate” those albums for evidence to prove a specific theory as to why it ended is not how they should be viewed. Taylor wrote those songs feeling a very specific way because that’s what she was experiencing and she is now reflecting on them with hindsight and relates to them differently than when she first created them. These conflicting emotions can exist; how she views it now doesn’t diminish how she felt about it when she first released it.

just an annoying reminder that the 13 or 18 songs on an album was never - and will never be- the entire picture of a period of time of taylor's life. It was/is/will be a picture painted of her feelings and life that she chooses to share, not just with her bestest besties over dinner, but with the entire world. This doesnt mean she is deceitful, or that past songs were in any way dishonest - a song is an exploration of a feeling or a moment someone chooses to write about, and an album is not a fact-checked unbiased history book detailing everything that occurred in a particular timeframe. Songs from rep-midnights were representative of a moment of taylor's brain in time, a moment in a series of thousands of moments that happened across six years. And it would be a logical presumption to say that ttpd is looking back at that time and the time after it with a different pair of glasses on, as one does when circumstances change.

It's analogous to going back and looking at, e.g., your instagram for a particular year in the past and going, "those 25 pictures + captions DID accurately represent what was happening in THAT millisecond i took that pic and wrote that caption, but man... there was so much more going on in that period of time that i didn't share with people, and i feel so differently about that time now." And maybe you post a recap post with some additional context and how you see it with today's eyes, and what you've since learned about life and yourself.

thinking about “that 1950’s shit they want from me” line in lavender haze and while sure it has a connection to marriage. I don’t think that is all. I think Taylor’s referencing the expectation that a woman gives up their whole identity and simply becomes an extension of their male partner. Women were not have their own ambitions, their own life, even their own thoughts they could only exist to support their partner and produce children - a very stepford wives existence. I think this is very interesting especially when we think of Taylor’s desire to be to be independent and in control.
