some of you people are so obsessed with having an acceptable group to ‘punch up’ at that you would rather pretend a marginalized group are Basically The Oppressors™ than listen to their valid criticisms about the fact that ‘punching up’ very rarely hits the intended target, and the majority of the actual damage of that act is suffered by fellow marginalized people in your own community. there is a significant difference between venting frustrations about privileged groups and just outright attacking anyone who (you assume) experiences that axis of privilege regardless of - and in many cases outright denying - their actual lived experiences. it goes far beyond just ‘venting frustrations’ when what you’re really doing is trying to find a moral justification to bully people you don’t like, and when your own desire for catharsis and moral superiority leads to ignoring the voices of the vulnerable people you hurt. you’re not ‘punching up’ - you just like punching people for the sake of punching.

i don’t think acknowledging that antisemitism exists in leftist spaces, which include antizionist spaces (tbh especially so because the fact that israel is associated with jewish people worldwide is fodder for antisemites who are also leftists) defeats the point of antizionism, any more than acknowledging that leftist spaces are often immensely sexist, ableist, anti-addict, and dismissive of indigenous voices makes you a spineless liberal.

I think the most ridiculously stupid thing about the current western anti-Zionist movement is how much they hate my actual stance on the I/P region. Not the war, necessarily—but the longterm solution.
Because, like, my only criteria for a “good” longterm solution to I/P is one which honors both peoples’ (Jews and Palestinians) cultural ties and rights to the land; one that takes both their concerns—especially that of safety—seriously and accounts for it. The details? That’s something people better and smarter and more powerful than I can debate and hammer out—but anything less than the unwavering commitment to respecting the rights and humanity of all affected parties is an unacceptable outcome, and I cannot for the life of me understand how that could be offensive to anyone.
And YET.

[Image ID: The poem “One Source of Bad Information”, by Robert Bly.  There’s a boy in you about three years old who hasn’t learned a thing for thirty Thousand Years. Sometime it’s a girl.  The child had to make up its mind How to save you from death. He said things like:  “Stay home. Avoid elevators. Eat only elk.”  You live with this child, but you don’t know it.  You’re in the office, yes, but live with this boy  At night. He’s uninformed, but he does want To save your life. And he has. Because of this boy  You survived a lot. He’s got six big ideas.  Five don’t work. Right now he’s repeating them to you.

when I see something dated 2019 I think “oh that’s not too long ago” and then I remember that 2019 was not only five years ago but those five years have somehow contained several lifetimes

What I learn from Science & Technology Studies is that you shouldn't blindly trust science because there's a fair amount of fuckery (mostly unintentional but sometimes not) going on in the background, but you also shouldn't *not* trust science in the way that most people who don't trust science don't trust science.
Anyways, hope that helps!

something about foreshadowing being more prominent the second time around reading a story but in a way that the meaning is changed forever and you can never view a story the same as you once did before. do you know what i mean.

2010s Black Tumblr didn't die organically. It was killed. Not just by staff, not just by the porn ban, but by the white userbase as well. Black bloggers were (and still are) being mass-reported and harassed off the platform constantly. White Tumblr users would post gore in problack tags, racefake left and right in Black people's askbox, pick random AAVE to call racist/misogynistic/transphobic, etc then get the Black people who were nice enough to explain what it means to them mass reported for harassment, the list goes on.

The current state of pop girlies is so funny like
Ariana Grande: getting dragged for homewrecking with the guy who played SpongeBob in the SpongeBob musical
Taylor Swift: dropping her worst album in years about how deeply obsessed she is with Matty Healy
Billie Eilish, for some reason:

Watched Heaven Sent for the two billionth time. Not to blow my own horn or anything, but I do think it's crazy that The Shepherd's Boy almost inspired a 200k series in and of itself:
