Just want to throw out there that Glenn Ford is who I picture in my head for Benny physically. He’s most famous for the definitive noire movie Gilda (hello bisexual love triangle during the code era), but his acting was very naturalistic for the time and he really brought a kind of impish, wink wink vibe to a lot of his 40s movies (so Benny):

Hell yeah!!! I’m not super familiar with southern France, but my husband is from the 43 and even though it’s a bit meh in places (looking at you Saint Étienne) I really do love how spooky the region looks in winter!! Some casual Minsc lore that I spent way too long digging for... So I found this ancient as hell article from GameSpy that's nearly 25 years old. It's an interview with Minsc in-character from his lead writer!

This paragraph was particularly interesting to me:

And of course, like a fool I actually sat through all five hours of Minsc's in-game dialogue mined from BG3 only to find that he does, in fact, reference back to this!! I have no idea where it shows up in game but here's the line that appears at 4:27:00:

"And all to impress a former lover. Gale should do as Minsc did, and stop at the face tattoo."

Which of course, makes me scream because that is some INSANE lore digging from the BG3 writers and also exactly confirms the spin that I read into on the original lore dump. By the way, there is Origin dialogue from Minsc laced into that video - seems that quite late into development, he was still going to be a playable character! He has lines from all three acts (and notably, it took Matt Mercer a while to really get a hang on his voice).
