Fallout
★☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
SPOILER ALERT
Well, I did say I'll give them a free 10 stars if I see at least one easter egg related to bugs, and 1 star if none.
I didn't see any so 1 star for Season 1. If they add one in Season 2, then they'll get a free 10 stars for it.
Come on. It's not Fallout if there are no bugs. I can think a lot of ways to insert those easter eggs without affecting the plot. You can even make some scenes and dialogues funny while at it
Now, before you cry about it, I rated each episode fairly.

Genuinely, what is the point of setting the Fallout show on the west coast if it was just going to invalidate everything that happened in the West Coast Trilogy. Shady Sands has fallen, the NCR is a memory, New Vegas is a crater in the ground. The New California Republic, Caesar's Legion, The Enclave, Mr. House, all brushed to the side for a wasteland with no semblance of human society beyond shanty-towns; with no semblance of the legitimate cities of Fallouts 2 and New Vegas. All to what end? To allow the Brotherhood of Steel to make an undeserved comeback?
If anything, I think the series should be the final nail in the coffin that Bethesda fundamentally misunderstands Fallout. In a franchise whose very nature is defined by the Atom Bomb and how it was used as a means to an end by a corrupt Capitalist system; how humanity rose from the ashes of a broken world with the dream of building something better; how our only hope for the future is to learn from our past mistakes and create a world where they can never be made again; Bethesda seems determined to keep us stuck in the past. That we should never advance past the ideals of the nation that led us to this nuclear landscape in the first place, that we should never try to make something new atop the ashes of what came before. That we should just forever stay rats scurrying in the wastes, amongst the shattered visage of Ozymandias and the fruits of his labor, looking up to what he left behind as an example of the kind of existence we should strive to create. Very telling indeed.

If I don't see a single bug in the 2024 TV adaptation of Fallout, I'm going to rate it with 1 star. 👻

‘Neural noise’ could be a hidden advantage of the autistic mind
But some research, including our own study, has explored specific advantages in autism.
'Neural noise' could be a hidden advantage of the autistic mind
Autistic people face ignorance, prejudice and discrimination that can harm wellbeing. Poor mental and physical health, reduced social connections and increased “camouflaging” of autistic traits are some of the negative impacts that autistic people face.
So, research underlining and investigating the strengths inherent in autism can help reduce stigma, allow autistic people to be themselves and acknowledge autistic people do not require “fixing”.
The autistic brain is different. It comes with limitations, but it also has its strengths.

Communities closed beta is here
Hello again! We’re back with an update on Communities, a big idea we had last year that we’ve been working on steadily since then. We’re abnormally jazzed to announce that we’re beginning a “closed beta” phase of this new feature, which means many of you will get to play with it soon!
We want to build this whole thing together, with as much input from all of you as possible. We’ve read and re-read the feedback from our previous post, and we’ve been surveying and interviewing people about this idea for a few months now. But it’s time to open this up even more for hands-on testing.
We’ve already begun reaching out to most of you who interacted with our previous post, as promised, with a survey asking whether you’d be interested in helping (check your email!). Over the next couple of weeks, we’ll be using the results of that survey to narrow down who we’d like to help test Communities in these initial batches.
The process is looking a bit like this:
If you received a Communities survey email to your registered Tumblr email address, fill it out! If you’re interested in helping us in this beta test period, that’s your way of potentially getting early access. If you did not receive an email with the Communities survey, don’t fret! Communities will be rolling out to more people as we expand our testing.
We’ll go through the results and choose a diverse range of community ideas to gather a wide array of feedback.
Selected testers will receive a second survey with more detailed questions about their proposed community. Very practical stuff, like the name, title, and description, whether it should be public or private, the About page contents, its own community guidelines, and more.
We will create the new Tumblr community on your behalf using the information supplied. We’re building the tools that will let people create and edit communities themselves, so eventually you’ll be able to change them without needing our help. But for now, we’re creating and editing them for you, as needed.
After we’ve created the community, you’ll be made its first admin. Everything from here on out is up to you – Tumblr staff won’t be in your community (unless you invite us, of course). You’ll be able to invite anyone on Tumblr to your community. However, your community will have a population cap to start, limiting how many people can be in it and invited, as a way of keeping this beta test somewhat contained and manageable for us. We’ll be able to raise that population cap for communities that are growing and if we want to test further in that direction.
And throughout, we’ll be asking for feedback, both in some special communities for everyone in the closed beta, and via more surveys and the Support tickets we receive.
This closed beta version of Communities is far from finished, and that’s part of the reason we want to start opening it up to more of you for feedback. There are a lot of rough edges and known issues, but we think it’s far enough along that it’s usable enough for testing. We need feedback in order to feel like we’re building the right thing.
The very first public community is called “Communities Feedback” for this reason! We want everyone helping us test out communities to tell us about it, so people in this closed beta will be in there by default. We want to use that space to be more public and real-time about new pieces we’re building, bugs we’re fixing, things we know are broken, and answers to common questions. There is an additional, private community for community admins, to help shape how administrating and moderating these spaces will work. And if you don’t want to use those spaces, you can always use the “Feedback” category in our Support form.
Stay tuned for more, and keep an eye on that Communities Feedback space if you’d like to see how things are changing over time.

Blood Free 1x02 "Episode 2"
Ooh, this show is really convincing me they're different from everyone else. For a TV series, they spent as much budget as needed just to produce the one of the best VR scenes in history.

Holy! That's the kind of presentation I want to attend; and stand on stage!
Great idea to whoever thought of that. I wonder when we are going to see it in real life?

Our P-pop Wednesday & OPM Wednesday Today
Today's #PpopWednesday #OPMwednesday is 「Shout For Joy」 by Gary Valenciano. A fitting song after Passover, Resurrection Day, and the Feast of Unleavened Bread.

How do you define “Openly Autistic”?
How do you define the term, “Openly Autistic”?
Tumblr media
Is it an autistic person who rarely masks?
Or, an autistic who isn't afraid and/or shy to share that they are actually autistic?
Or, an autistic person who is active in the autism acceptance “movement” (if we can call it that)?
Or, perhaps, an autistic who were interviewed and disclosed they're autistic?
Maybe you have other considerations or criteria that defines “openly autistic” for you?
NOTE: Being openly autistic is a choice and is not for everyone. I think it is safe to say that we all face discrimination, stereotyping, and prejudice for being actually autistics, thus, most choose not to be open about it.
However, recently, there has been a slow growth in numbers of openly autistics, and like with most things in life, we have different criteria, definitions, and cultural considerations.
Thus, I am curious what you think, personally or maybe your immediate environment or organisation, is an openly autistic person. Or, when do you consider one as openly autistic.
Again, this is not about if an autistic person should be openly autistic or not. ^_^
Thank you for your interesting insights!

Parasyte: The Grey
★★★★★★★★☆☆
If you're confused, or comparing “Parasyte: The Grey” with the original, you should not. “Parasyte: The Grey”, as far as the hints they dropped in multiple episodes, is set in the same universe as the original Parasyte.
In other words, this is not your regular adaptation, it is a spin-off. It is called a “shared world”.
“Parasyte: The Grey” is set in Korea and tells the story of what happened when Parasytes landed in Korea. This is why there are a lot of differences, it is not an adaptation, it tells a parallel story. There are also similarities, and that can be easily explained as the world governments sharing information; as well as, humanity today thinks similarly, so we end up doing the same things even without direct contact.
Don't dismiss “Parasyte: The Grey” just because, otherwise, you're going to miss a greatly written live-action TV spin-off of the franchise. Again, based on the hints dropped in multiple episodes, this Korean spin-off exists in the same universe as the original material. It is, however, unclear if they directly based on the manga (the original), or the recent two-part Japanese movie adaptation.
If you're going to ask me, I think “Parasyte: The Grey” is closer to the two-part Japanese movie adaptation than the original manga and anime adaptation. But, that's not important. The important thing is, for the 3rd or 4th time, as per the hints, this series exists in the same universe as the Japanese story.

Between Him and Her
★★★★★★★★☆☆
SPOILER ALERT
Another story based on real life relationships that is grossly misunderstood. People calling the writer "dumb" and "should quit and get a psychiatrist", and dismissing the couple as "unrealistic", especially the ending.
Like it or not. The story, and ending, of the main characters happened and happens in real life. It is also NOT unrealistic to be friends with your exes.
The writer did well. It is those with a narrow view of the world who should get a psychiatrist because they are living in their own little fantasy dream and want to force everyone to fit in it.
To sum up, either pen your own story and produce your own drama (good luck with that), or, go watch a Disney fairy tale instead. (Or, get a psychiatrist for that matter so you'll learn to tell a fantasy dream from reality.)

Chicken Nugget
★★★★★★★☆☆☆
There are only 10 episodes. Once again, TMDB got it right and TVDB got it wrong. I don't know why #Trakt and #SIMKL keep on using TVDB, it's very unreliable. There was even one show before that was already correct, but some #TVDB editor decided to add 2 fake episodes, and it messed everything.
Stick to #TMDB. TMDB is far more accurate, and it is easier to edit if there are corrections.

Lonely Castle in the Mirror (2022)
★★★★★★★★★★
SPOILER ALERT
SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT
SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT
SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT
A lot of life lessons to be learned from this, most especially when it comes to relationships, encouragement, and healing.
Music/BGM: Love it!
Animation: Perfect for the plot and message.
Pace: Same thing, perfect for the plot and message.
Voice actors (original): Matches well for the characters and their backgrounds.
In the end, the story is sad. The only one whose memories of the “Lonely Castle in the Mirror” were erased was the wish maker, our main character. It kind of points to “No good deed goes unpunished”. Our main character made the perfect wish which saved everyone, healed everyone, and led them to their new path in life.
But like any wish, it has to be paid, be it a good or bad wish. There is equivalence. Or, “for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction”. She made the perfect wish, a wish that resonated throughout time and changed the path of six other people. Something like that will cause an equal and opposite reaction; or a major payment. This was in the form of memories for the wish maker. Everyone remembers but her.
As for how the 6 other kids were able to remember, it was because of the Wolf Queen. She made her own wish for the sake of her little brother. Actually, there were 7 kids who remembered, the 6 + the Wolf Queen. Thus, only the wish maker has forgotten.
This brings me to how I love the way they paid attention to current “proverbs” and time-travel. They combined it all together and woven a great story with a lot of lessons in it.
Highly recommended. Full 10 stars!

Damsel (2024)
★★★★★★★☆☆☆
SPOILER ALERT
It is a 2024 fantasy “damsel [in distress]” story. If you have read a lot of fantasy novels, or watched fantasy movies, the story will be very predictable for you right from the beginning (even that glowing larvae were too predictable). Thus, you should put those aside and just enjoy it for what it is: a 2024 fantasy movie.
The production was good. The animation was fluid, and they did take effort in creating the dragon more alive instead of taking shortcuts. For example, the dragon takes time to gain momentum, or had to do manoeuvres to have a controlled landing; instead of just plain flying or landing.
The acting was good and believable, and even though there weren't character backgrounds, one could easily imagine what kind of persons the characters were.
However, they should've not had any excessive screaming and running. They could've replaced those with the main character and the dragon exchanging heated conversations. Since she's screaming a lot instead of being quiet, might as well have a conversation instead of screaming here and there.
But, I think, what they want to show was how panic can make humans forget their intellect and wisdom. Survival is fight or flight, and the main character reacted with the latter. Which, in the end, we've seen how she's an intelligent and wise woman capable of doing things when she's in “fight” mode.
If we look at it from that perspective, then yes, they did well in telling the story and sending that message; and why she kept on screaming and running.
Another good lesson here is humanity's constant fear, leading to unwise decisions. As the dragon said, they killed her daughters unprovoked. That hinted how she would've left them alone, probably migrated later.
Then again, was it truly ‘fear’? The first king did say, “for the glory!” They were hunting. Which brings us to, well, wars. Was it about ‘fear’ or because we are ‘hunting’ and sugar-coating it to justify our actions? Similar to how the latter kings and queens did.
Last, but not the least, they showed us how weak a familial relationship is if a parent can sacrifice their children in the name of money and alleviating poverty. We assume it is justified because the people comes first. However, what kind of ruler are you if you are willing to sacrifice your own children? It speaks volume to your character and the high possibility you'll do it for anyone else.
You just don't. No matter what happens, a parent should never ever sacrifice their children, or use them to make money. Using your people/constituents to justify what you're doing/did to your children is nothing but an excuse.
Good lessons there, which I hope those who watched, and will watch, will also catch and be reminded about.
