I might be a little bit late to the game, but...

So while rewatching 7x03 I got a closer look at that famous background scene with Eddie, Buck and Tommy, and probably someone has already noticed it, but I think it truly is a masterful piece of foreshadowing.

A detailed breakdown of the scene below.

So remember. All of it is happening during an epic, romantic, cheesy reunion between Bobby and Athena with blaring romantic music that was so over the top that I had to look away during my initial viewing and hence I missed the hidden background scene entirely the first go around.

First, Eddie and Buck enter the shot together, Tommy is lagging behind, hidden behind the stairs.

This is the status quo. Eddie and Buck have yet to actually interact that much with Tommy.

Then Tommy comes in, in a pilot's uniform, and immediately comes in-between them, a bright contrast.

He continues on for a little bit longer, to stand closer to Eddie. The camera, to make sure we don't miss it, leaves Bobby and Athena out of it for a little bit.

This is, obviously, the Buck, Bothered and Bewildered part of it, where Tommy and Eddie hit it off and Buck is left standing just a little bit off balance.

Then comes the unhinged part. Eddie starts to leave... and blends with Tommy into a single person because you couldn't be anymore on the nose about it. (Is Tommy Eddie's double? Is he a mirror? You tell me! He's also hidden from view by Eddie, so he's overshadowed? And yet, he's closer to Buck, so more readily available?! Oh, the theories, they be spinning!)

And immediately, while Eddie is still in the shot, Buck turns towards and reaches out to Tommy, who is still looking at Eddie walking away.

The music lulls softly, the camera closes in on Buck and Tommy in an intimate close up that lingers juuust a bit longer than you would expect, with genuine emotion coming from Buck.

This is the "getting your attention" bit, where Tommy is surprised and reaches back, but when he does...

... Buck is already walking away. He takes his sweet time letting go of Tommy's shoulder, sure, but he's already moving away. Tommy is still smiling, and there aren't any hard feelings. They have a touching moment, but it's not going to last that long, because the pull towards something else is too strong. And in the next shot...

... Diaz and Buckley walk off together into the rising sun, overlaping so much they are almost blended together, and accompanied by the romantic music continuing on sweetly and the finale of Bobby and Athena's reunion.

tldr: this whole scene is a metaphor for this entire arc and I'm a buddie endgame truther forever.
