How is Golden Chain going?

Hi Steggy!

It's been slow, to be honest.

I had written a big chunk of the story, mainly the two following chapters, but somehow along the way what I wrote didn't satisfy me, and it felt it didn't match the tone I wanted to achieve now.

So I discarded it.

I'm currently in the process of rewriting the parts I didn't like. I hope the final result will be well received (⁠ ⁠◜⁠‿⁠◝⁠ ⁠)⁠♡

P.S. I will probably share some compilation of q&a doodles I made on Instagram to compensate for the lack of updates!

Something I wonder about is, geographically speaking, what could the Gerudo be analogous to? Like, speaking as a humanities grad, I'm kinda sick of the LoZ team and the fandom just lumping in the MENA region and wider Persia/central Asia together when it comes to fanworks.

Hello lovely! Sorry for the late reply, but I wanted to give this wonderful ask a proper, well thoughth answer.

The Gerudo = MENA equivalence has always been a point of debate in the LoZ fandom, because it falls easily into orientalist tropes (the odalisque outfits, the Amazon trope, the big bad brown guy etc.)

This is a personal opinion, but in case Nintendo decides to redesign the Gerudo referencing an IRL ethnicity, my hopes fit into two routes: one with a more accurate middle eastern visual representation (it is possible! Historians exist for that purpose!), or the possibility of a complete revamp, with new visual influence (hopefully avoiding negative stereotyping). Personally, I'd love to see the Gerudo reinvented with Desi (I do reference Indian clothing for Link in the Golden Chain AU) or Southern African visuals.

Today is Armenian genocide remembrance day. On april 24, 1915 started mass deportations of hundreds of Armenian intelectuals and community leaders, who were (most of the time) eventually killed. Armenian women and children were systematically r//ed and forcibly converted into islam. There were more than 2 milion Armenians in ottoman empire prior to ww1, 1,5 milion of them were viciously killed. Three millennia of Armenian civilaziation in eastern Anatolis was fully destroyed. Turkey today refuses to acknowledge genocides of christian minorities in early 20th century.

Do you know that mass ethnic cleansing of Armenians in ottoman empire inspired Lemkin to coin the term 'genocide'?

Last year in september azerbaijan allied with turkey initiated a war against Armenia. More that 5000 Armenians were murdered, thousands of Armenia families had to live their ancestrial land to not get murdered. There are hundreds of vids on internet where armenian p.o.w.s are tortured. Recently azerbaijan opened a "museum" displayind dead or dying Armenians and kids were allowed to visit it.
