I've got more sketches from work. This time it's just plain ol' pencil and ballpoint pen on scrap paper. This one I tried drawing more detailed without using references. The fox on the upper right is how I normally draw things - basically just an outline, the fox on the left was an attempt to make it more detailed. It's ok, not great, and some things look off. The close up on the bottom is more for something I may or may not do when I have time - there's dialogue below it but I cut it out.
This next one I actually used a reference photo of a close up of a fox's face. I also attempted doing these by breaking down what I drew based on the shapes I saw. I got this idea from the book Drawing Lessons from the Great Masters. These are much better. Just compare the close up from above to the close up below.

This art dump is going to be basically what I do to make time pass by faster at work when it's slow.
When I have no clue what to draw, I do line/mark practice like these:
Or I'll do something like this - stippling is a great way to take up more time:
And, finally, this is an actually planned drawing. I'm getting hyped about the solar eclipse coming up and drew this:
Fun fact about this one, I don't use stencils, I instead rotate the paper until it looks round from all views. I have nothing against stencils, I just prefer to use the rotating method. That, and I don't really like perfect circles. Idk why.

There will be new art tomorrow!
It's going to be more sketches. I have a lot going on right now, so my art schedule has been thrown out the window. Things will probably return to normal at the end of June or early July. For now, I'll try to post something every other week even if it's just sketches.

I was a bit busy with work this week and didn't have much time for art. But I do have some sketches of skulls.
Human skull using a reference photo:
Cat skull using a ref photo:
Skull doodles using no reference, just drawing from memory:

Got a bunch of bird sketches this week. I used reference images for all of these, but instead of using the entire image, I focused on the head. I also tried different ways to do the backgrounds.
First up is a crow. I basically just scribbled most of this.
Next is a cardinal. Just a normal sketch with a quickly crosshatched background.
The last one is a turkey vulture. I kinda combined what I did in the previous two here. The background took longer than the main focus. Stippling looks great when it's done but takes forever to do.

The first sketch of 2024! I've made this before, but I really love it. This is inspired by Norse art, although I can't seem to find this exact design. The closest I could find was Loki's symbol, but that is usually done in an S shape. I may have combined some things when I first drew this.
This was done in fineliners in a 3.5" by 5.5" sketchbook. It is another tiny sketch that I might make a larger version of, especially since it is fun to draw.
Looks like my new schedule will be every Friday.

I did a series of pen sketches involving foliage with a weird background. This one is my favorite and I think the best:
These next ones are okay, but they're not as good. They were all fun to draw, tho.
These were done at the end of 2023 with a brush pen and fine liners in a 3.5" x 5.5" sketchbook.
I might do a larger version of the first. I really like it, but it's so tiny. If I do go ahead with it, I'll actually use some plant references instead of just doing whatever like I did here.

I'm Back!
Sorry about that unannounced absence. I didn't really feel like doing art for awhile. I also got some drumsticks and a practice pad which has taken a lot of my attention. I'm starting to balance time with both now.
Anyways, new art will be posted very soon. And I'm going to once again aim for posting art on a regular schedule.

I has been a while hasn't it? So much for that art schedule I tried doing.
Anyway, here's another painting! This is acrylic on 11 x 14 canvas. I got some paint mediums to thicken up my paint and this painting is the result of me experimenting with them and palette knives.

I painted a flower from my holiday cactus. It bloomed months ago, but I took pictures of it. I've only recently gotten around to painting it. Color balancing was a pain. I'm wondering if the fluorescent paint I used messed with the camera or something. I tried to get it as close as possible to the actual painting.
This was done with acrylic paint on 11 x 14 canvas.
