Palestine is not a complex subject & anyone who says “it’s complicated,” is being disingenuous.
People who do this are muddying the waters. It’s not “October 7th, Hamas attacked out of nowhere!!” It’s deliberate propaganda on the part of the media and political class to ignore the fact Palestinians were being brutalized weeks leading up to October, attacked while trying to worship and pray on their most sacred days. For 70+ years, Palestinians have been denied a voice and any trace of humanity.
Michael Brooks gave a good summation here: Israel is a modernized power oppressing an indigenous population, armed and funded by the West with sophisticated military technology and surveillance equipment.

Such a great work by Losurdo. Highly recommended.
The campaign of the West for the “democratisation” of China is taking place just as many political analysts are forced to see the decline of democracy in the West. A few years before the economic crisis, one could read in the International Herald Tribune that the United States had become a “plutocracy”; now the forces of private and corporate wealth have already taken hold of political institutions, while the rest of the population is cut off. Nowadays, on the left as well as among those completely opposed to the Marxist tradition, it is common to read that in the West, and primarily in the United States, plutocracy has taken the place of democracy. We can conclude that the on-going campaign for the “democratisation” of China is actually a campaign for its plutocratisation, to turn in the opposite direction the “political expropriation” of the bourgeoisie that has taken place since 1949 in the big Asian country.
A second campaign, as usual, conducted by Washington and Brussels, requires substantial liquidation of the state-owned sector and the public economy which play such an important role in the fight against two great inequalities: on the international scene, this sector is making a major contribution to China’s technological development, which is increasingly closing the gap with the advanced countries; internally, the state-owned sector and the public economy reduce inequalities between different regions, accelerating the development of China’s less developed regions, which are now growing at a much faster pace than the coastal regions. If this second campaign launched by the West had been successful, the “economic” expropriation of the bourgeoisie, already reduced, would have been cancelled altogether, so that the bourgeoisie could enormously increase its influence in society and again pave the way for conquest of political power.
It is very clear which weapons will be used to fight in the country that has emerged from the greatest anti-colonial revolution in history to engage in a long-term process of building a post-capitalist and socialist society. Which side will the Western left take?

do you have any tips on how to read theory? like how to get motivated, take notes, or just read without getting bored out of your mind? i need help understanding more Marxist-Leninist ideas but idk how to start.
What I do is I interact with the text: I'll use highlighters and pens to note specific points, the core part of a theory & then highlighting its connections with other parts of the text. It stays in my mind better & it's part of why I enjoy using a physical book, making notes in the margins or I've a notebook at hand. I wouldn't recommend tackling Marx's Capital off the bat. Try reading Walter Rodney, Lenin, Stalin, on Marx, for example - WR is very readable and easy to understand.
I also find it's a lot easier to consume theory in bits and pieces. Don't try to consume all at once. I usually limit myself to twenty or so pages a day or at least one section to make sure I'm grasping what's being written. If you're having trouble with understanding particular terminology, pause to note it & research at a later time, investigate with the help of comrades who are at a different level than you & can assist with clarifying.
You can also do audiobooks on Youtube which is popular. I find the best way to understand theory is to join a reading group. You'll better understand when you collaborate with other people & you're not just reading: you're learning from other people at varying levels of understanding in theoretical development.
Michael Parenti is a good entry point with his lectures and talks. There's the SWCC Lecture channel on the subject of Chinese Marxism-Leninism & it's theoretical development if you're interested or Hakim, Luna-Oi. Now, I wouldn't have them replace theory consumption - you really do need to knuckle down and engage with Lenin, for example.
Does that help answer? If not, we can get more specific on what you need.

Sharing Some Texts
Hi, everyone! Wanted to announce that I’ve a few texts scanned and uploaded onto Internet Archive.
It’s a mix. Soviet pamphlets from Progress Publishers, including some books. I’m going to continue uploading from whatever texts I find at my local bookstore.
If something isn’t popping up: give it some time. Up to an hour and a half to appear at least from my end.
Please enjoy and spread these.

You’re an idiot, putting it mildly.
Tumblr media
Almost immediately after the workers’ revolution in the USSR, the Soviet government created the largest system of slavery in the modern world using the people they claimed to be saving from czarism and capitalism.
Just something to think about when you hear people supporting socialism today.

Like any good Marxist-Leninist, I read a lot.
I mean: a lot.
Of my hobbies, I love perusing used bookstores to sniff out Progress Publishers texts. The pamphlets in particular were a goldmine. I managed to create PDFs of them including "The Problem of the Ideal," & "Lenin - Great and Human." Lunacharsky and Barabash have Internet Archives and Marxist dot org sources, so I'll hyperlink those if anyone wants to read the latter two.
I've also got Christoper Caudwell's "Illusions and Reality," along with "Studies and Studies in a Dying Culture," but the latter is an old book, the glue crackling. The first I've got two copies: two hardcovers from different decades. I was over the moon upon finding those. I'm very interested in aesthetics, literature and a Marxist literary critique.
Here's a taste of Caudwell from Redsails dot org.
PS: does anyone know what PDF upload sites can be used aside from Internet Archive? I tried IA and it didn't work for me. I'd love to share what I've scanned. I know LibGen would work, I just have to see tutorials for that but I'm open to other platforms.

This is one of the most frustrating parts of leftist discourse: the DPRK. It’s a perfectly normal country, not this totalitarian dystopia with a hereditary royal family nonsense.
A ridiculous caricature that is racist and Orientalist. Who’s providing these narratives? What think tanks are involved? What money and whom is it provided by?
A good documentary: Loyal Citizens of Pyongyang.
Stephen Gowan’s book: Patriots, Traitors and Empires: the Story of Korea’s Struggle for Freedom.
The defectors are a sketchy bunch - lots of money involved in coercing defectors for exaggerated horror stories.
On Yenomi Park.
On the racist narratives characterizing the DPRK/Kim Jong Un.
A defector lied about his book.
Good intro documentary on the DPRK.
Further article on the defectors.
Brief clip from my twitter on the corporations funding the Atlas Institute, a libertarian think tank that's focused on 'helping' defectors.
It's important to understand the continuity in a historical sense that's important to this day & providing context - the Black Panther Party stood in solidarity with the DPRK.
Thread on the defector cottage industry, particularly on that bullshit book called "the Cleanest Race," which is written by a state department employee named BR Meyers, who's father was a US Army Colonel.
Leftist post about DPRK: you have been lied to about DPRK, it is a pretty normal country under siege by the west. It is not a hereditary kingdom under one man rule. It's citizens are human beings. The government is fine. You have been lied to about DPRK
The people who have been lied to about DPRK, but think they're smarter & more empathetic than the other riffraff who have been lied to abt DPRK:

I’ve been reading Derek R Ford’s recent “Teaching the Actuality of Revolution,” and been having a great time, penning in the margins & highlighting passages. It’s a very good book on education, pedagogy, aesthetics & navigating this capitalist system to find a way out from it.

Can I just say how much I love the fact that Domenico Losurdo gets love on Tumblr?
To see his Nietzsche book get attention is even better. I’ve been reading the book for the past several weeks, carefully since it’s dense & heavy. It’s over 900+ pages long, over a thousand if you include the citations, references, academic sourcing, etc. If you want to challenge yourself, it’s a masterful read & incisive look into Nietzsche. I’d describe Losurdo’s book not just as a history on Nietzsche’s development & trajectory, but an excellent history book on right wing intellectualism.
What I’ve realized as of late is how revisionists or modern day historians ignore or downplay the context of Nietzsche’s time, the era he lived in. The time of Nietzsche was a time of colonialism, of eugenics, the beginning of modernity, the suffragette movement & when mass forces appeared on the scene. It’s a crucial fact, like the fact that Nietzsche lived during the time of abolitionist forces, during the American Civil War! You can’t just ignore that sort of development, as if Nietzsche were ignorant the entire time - he’s very much a political creature contrary to the image as a free thinking philosopher.
I'm finally doing a thing that I wanted to do for a while: reading Domenico Losurdo's 1,000 page intellectual biography of Nietzsche.
Wow, it's hilarious (not in the bad sense). It's funny that Nietzsche is treated as this paragon of self-determination,ol of the creativity of the human spirit in face of the tragedy of life, a symbol of humanity, when in reality he didn't even consider 90% of humanity to be truly human.
He hated Socrates and was a complete antisemite, going as far of calling Socrates a Jew and giving him stereotypical antisemite ugliness. He loved war, even though he never experienced one, and blamed the Jews for inculcating liberal peace through their Jewish journalism.
He loved slavery - when he spoke of master-slave morality, he wasn't just using a metaphor, he meant actual slavery. It's funny that in academic history there's a movement to replace the word "slave" for "enslaved", because the first words implies a natural state and the second an imposed state. Nietzsche's entire framework falls down when you use "enslaved", because it shows that master morality can only happen if masters impose slavery to the enslaved.
I'm glad this book existed. I always tried to read Nietzsche and I always felt there was something wrong. Even in the left, people try to rehabilitate Nietzsche, calling him innocent, blaming his Nazi sister. It turns out his Nazi sister sometimes had to suppress some of his most prejudiced rants. There's really nothing innocent about him, and, obviously, one can read him without being condemned, but he needs to be ready critically.
