spent a big chunk of my day editing this timelapse of my '50 years of the carnation revolution' piece.
this one nearly gave me a nervous breakdown back when i was working on it late march. i went back and forth so much with it.
i questioned myself the entire time. once i added colors, i just thought it looked fucking horrifying. 'why am i doing this to myself' and 'this will be one of those where i put a thousand hours in and won't even like in the end' were common thoughts.
it was not. it was all worth it. i am very proud of it, and im really happy it got a warm reception online.
the song is "Aos pós", by Samuel Úria. it felt fitting.
feliz 25 de Abril for all my fellow portuguese, let us learn from the past and shape the future.
'as mãos da revolução', 2024
or, 'the hands of the revolution'
we're celebrating 50 years of the carnation revolution today in portugal - 50 years since the dictatorship fell, 50 years of being able to express yourself without fear of beatings, incarceration or worse.
it is a date that sits very close to my heart despite being a post-revolution baby. i have enjoyed over 30 years of freedom and i try to not take it for granted.
the Carnation Revolution (also simply known as 25 April) was a military coup that took place in 1974 in Portugal, leading to the end of a dictatorship and the beginning of democracy.
it is named so due to it being a mostly non-violent revolution in which Carnations were handed out in the public and placed in soldier's guns and uniforms.
this is one of two pieces I did to celebrate this very, very important moment in portuguese history.
here's a cool little timelapse of my latest piece about holding hands in public!!!! set to Dating Start! by toby fox straight from the undertale OST cuz i think it fits and is cute.
i've recently been dabbling in video editing and am planning on doing a couple more of these in the future maybe probably maybe.
this was a bday present for a friend whose favorite mon is sceptile. i tried to do this pixely shading i saw a couple twitter artists do and i think it looks cool
this illustration is part of a series of 3 that i never properly named. i made these during a time of introspection about myself and my relationship with others.

"muitos anos a virar frangos" translates roughly to "many years spent turning chickens". it references chicken grilling.
it is a very, very portuguese way to express one's experience or mastery over something. it is used often as a brag and in an humorous way, sometimes sarcastically.
this illustration is part of "quem fala assim não é mudo" - "he who speaks like this isn't mute", my first solo exhibition, where i illustrate typical portuguese sayings and expressions.
this is the last of the collection. if you got this far, thank you for reading! i hope you enjoyed it!
