I am not sure if I am seeing things differently or if I am just accustomed to Winnipeg now, but downtown seems a little nicer these days. Streets and buildings look cleaner, flower boxes all spruced up and there seems to be a steady influx of "new stuff" and other developments that create a certain feel-good energy and vibe. 500th! This photo was taken almost 11 years ago at Casa Loma in Toronto. I decided to post it here for my 500th because it reminded me of how my interest in photography started. I bought a #Canon point and shoot camera just so I can take pictures of my trip to Calgary the Christmas prior. And as the type of camera implied, I just pointed at something and took a shot of it. As time went on and after reading the manual, I realized how powerful my small camera was. I learned concepts about aperture, exposure, shutter speed, etc. Soon enough I was walking around Toronto to experiment. And this right here is one of the photos during those "experimental days". While I have graduated to a #dslr now, I still consider myself an amateur photographer, and I don't mind it. So beautiful and vibrant! However, as someone who was also from a country colonized by Europeans, what this reminds me is how the concept of a god became an instrument to enslave and the exploit native people in Asia, Africa and the Americas. I am not here to instigate anything, but the atrocities committed throughout history for the sake of religion makes you wonder if god is really that wrathful and violent. Anywho, this stained glass window is from the Anglican Cathedral of St. John here in Winnipeg.
