YE OLDE VIDEO SHOPPE: Only Millennials Will Understand
The year is 19XX. You're still just a kid, ten to sixteen years old perhaps. It's Friday afternoon and you've just gotten off the bus from school. Oh, sweet deliverance, freedom at long last! You run to your bedroom and grab what little pocket change you've managed to scrounge up. Instead of spending time with friends or rediscovering the wonders of nature after an extended winter, you've opted to make the pilgrimage to Blockbuster Video and rent that one game—you know the one. You've been itching to play it since the day you learned of its existence, roughly three years after it was released. You're either too young or too lazy to get a job, so buying a copy of your own is completely out of the question.
As you make your way down the block towards yellow-and-blue, deep within the recesses of your tiny adolescent brain, you know they won't have it in. Of course not. They never have it in. Some other shiteling with the mother of straw or thirty-something basement hobbit always beats you to the punch—and today is no exception. And thus, you spend the next half hour browsing the shelves for something else, for it is a long weekend, and you'll be goddamned if you're going home empty-handed.
But alas, it is the '90s, and the only way you knew whether a game was rubbish or not was if Gamepro had done told you as much. Row by row, you flip each of the empty boxes around and scope out the screen captures on the backside, a common ritual among video game enthusiasts. The specious cover art fails to illustrate what the game is like or even about, but you shan't be deceived, never again. Not since the debacle at K-Mart back when you were five. A pox on thee, Dash Galaxy!
You've been down the aisles fivefold. All that's left are games that you already own, have completed ad nauseam, or look like ragged ass dragged through a burning trash heap. Crestfallen, you accept defeat and surrender to whim, trudging home with a copy of "Mickey's Ultimate Challenge" in hand. You feign indulgence and complete the game in under thirty minutes. Congratulations, you have both made and shat your proverbial bed.
GAME OVER

I'm not sure what possessed me to write this, but I think I've just spoken for everyone (that's held a controller) over the age of 35. Just switch out a few of the words and names and Bob's your uncle.

Slapdash art of some characters from a short story that I'm writing. I still haven't settled on the designs; I'm not that great at drawing armor.

I had been working on this particular Mega Man Party World track — off and on — for about half a year and never did get around to properly completing it. Seeing how this is likely about as finished as its going to get, I figured I'd share it here for those that might be interested. "Everyone's Invited!" is an arrangement of Mega Man 1's ending theme, which was intended to be Mega Man Party World's opening theme. (Ironically) I imagined some sort of cute animation playing along with it, and I HAD began work on storyboards which (Again...) were never finished.

Some Mega Man Party World art that didn't quite make it into my music video tour. It was all planned to be included in a 17th bonus video, but I never did get around to starting it.

For the past three weeks, I had been working on a short video series showcasing most of the artwork, music, and ideas that I had created for Mega Man Party World. Please head on over to my YouTube channel and check it out if you have the time. For those that want a better look at some of the drawings seen across the series, I've compiled all of my recent work below.

Here's a bunch of pixel art I've done over the last couple of months, most of which was created for GB Studio projects.

A couple of mock GB screenshots I made based on old mobile Rockman games. (Rockman's Dot Art Logic and Rockman: The Puzzle Battle.)

Following up on my previous post, I've created this short demo video showing off what little progress has been made with Mighty Builder Twins thus far. Incidentally, you may recognize Marlin from one of my previous art dumps.
(NOTE: The music added to this video is copyright of Capcom Co., Ltd. and will not be used in the final game.)

Some of you may be familiar with GB Studio. This simplified game development software allows pretty much anyone to create their own Game Boy and Game Boy Color games. Better still, it's 100% free to download. Since the beginning of July, I had started work on a new project: 'Mighty Builder Twins'. While, admittedly, this action platformer is little more than an amalgamation of existing ideas, I'm hoping I'll still be able to give it my own special flair.
(NOTE: Aside from the title screen track, all other music added to this video is copyright of Konami and will not be used in the final game.)
Mighty Builder Twins follows the exploits of two young apprentice engineers: Marlin and Luilda Builder. After their hometown is attacked by a group of robots led by the odious Professor Ganser, the two soon set off on a journey in pursuit of the rogue scientist.

I've been kept rather busy these last couple of months, so I haven't had much time or energy to draw/make stuff. It's been a while since I've shared anything here, so I thought I'd round up a bunch of Mega Man Party World arrangements I had been working on since the beginning of March.

A follow-up to my previous post. My knowledge of Blender is still rather limited, but I managed to rig up this simple, low-poly Roll animation. Maybe I'll try and design an actual game board next...

I've been pretty busy learning how to use Blender these past couple of weeks. Unfortunately, it doesn't run the best on my Surface Pro 8, so the program tends to slow to a crawl within 10 minutes or so... Anyway, come have a look-see at what I've been working on.
What if Mega Man Party World had been released on the Nintendo 64? Well, Mega Man's model might have looked a bit like this. I'm not sure if it stays within the hardware's limitations, but I imagine it's pretty close. (846 triangles total. Google says Mario's N64 model had 838, so it's not too far off.)

I've been working on these two Mega Man Party World tracks for over a week now. Are you all ready for some RockBoard arrangements? ...No? Well, they still turned out great, I promise.
"Welcome to Party World" would play during the main menu after pressing start on the title screen. From Party World Plaza, you can access every inch of the park.
If you want to travel to one of the further attractions, such as the ones featured in board game segments, you can hop "Aboard the Monorail". During your ride, you'll be asked to choose your character(s), decide on a board, and poke around at the rules and game settings.

It's time for a Mini-Game! Split into pairs and prepare for a dance battle. Watch and memorize Kalinka and her partner's steps, then match them as best you can. It's important that you and your partner are in sync as well; timing is everything. Have a listen to the "Rolling Tango", one of the many classic arrangements that I had in mind for this Mini-Game. I think it turned out pretty good.

Before you can face Dr. Wily in the final battle, you'll have to deal with one of his dastardly Devils. Move around the board and collect the Devil Dice it scatters. Each roll of the die will inflict damage, but should you get the Devil's Eye, it's YOU that will be punished.
