Gave one of my mains, Aria, a redesign! Kinda been updating some of my characters lately because I’ve been making some changes to the whole dyvern race in general. Mostly in their looks, I want to make their hair, horns and skin closer in tone.

This still has some mistakes, but I kinda liked it nonetheless. Aria is my best, questionable girl/molni after all!

Decided to gather up some courage and do this too with my own wip!

It’s great how fun and silly things like this can really help to develop your story too. Just goes to show that it’s important to sometimes just have fun with your wip and not only look at it from a critical and analytical point of view.

Do you ever have a situation where you’ve literally planned for certain characters to become a couple for years, and then one day all of that  just flies out the window and your characters decide they should be friends and with other people instead?

Well that just happened to me with Tophias and Syringa! While I’m a little sad to lose my golden-lilac couple, I do like the new direction more. I feel like this also does some good to Tophias and Syringa’s arcs separately, plus it opens up some new possibilities aswell!

But basically this drawing was a clumsy test to get a feel of a possible new romance between Dion and Tophias. Ironically this couple has teased me for years too, but I never took it too seriously, untill recently when I realised just how well this could work. I hope to draw Syringa with her new boo soon aswell, because I’m just a sucker for love stories okay?

Important. Always keep this in mind when you’re creating stories.

When it takes so much of your own work and passion, it’s better in the end that it’s something that you love and enjoy.

Every now and again I get the thought–and I think most other writers do, too–that my writing might be crap. Maybe all the rich characterization and deep messages that I see are shallow and cliche to other people.

But, so what?

It’s my writing, I created it, I’m proud of it, it speaks to me. If it speaks to other people in the same or even different ways, that’s awesome! And if it doesn’t… so what? I still made something I like.

At the end of the day, that’s the extent of our control over how our work is perceived.

So write something you like, and don’t worry what others think.

Write a story where the main characters fuck up. Like, they let someone die because they were scared, or they reject a possible romantic interest out of snobbery and/or belief that nobody would have interest in them. Let your characters burn bridges, and let their mistakes have consequences. Some things are unforgivable, and it’s okay to have your main characters do these things. Everybody’s done something they regret. It’s hard (for me, personally) to do this because I love my characters so much, and I want them to succeed all the time, but it’s not realistic, and more importantly, it doesn’t make for as interesting as a story.

Can I just say right now that I would like to see more representation for asexual men?

Asexuality in general is erased enough, but it feels like no one even considers a guy might be ace. Chalk it up to toxic masculinity, maybe, but there’s this pervading feeling in so much of society that any man who doesn’t want sex is less of a man.

Give me my ace men, please. I want ace representation, but it shouldn’t be just for white women, y’know?

Some redesigns I did for my characters recently!

Granted these can’t be compared exactly since the ones on the left are more of a palette practice, but they still show off the old designs pretty well so I decited to use them, given that most of my older drawings of these designs are drawn traditionally.

You could say that I took just a bit more fantastical direction with my ocs, eh?

Not to mention that apparently if you are a new user you can’t fully customize your page untill tumblr deems you “active enough” like??? what is the point of that? All I wanted was to organize my page beforehand so it would be easier for me to post in the future but I guess not...

Better remember my tagging system real well so when I finally can make those pages my whole blog woun’t just be a mess
