So Theo says, “Okay, then hurt me instead.”

Summary: Liam asks, “What are you doing here, anyway?”
“Same thing you are,” Theo says. Avoiding, searching, not-thinking, maybe.
His answer seems to appease Liam. Or maybe he’d just rather not elaborate on the circumstances that made him seek shelter in a bus stop with a boy that he only spends time with when danger is making a home for itself in the corners of their lives.
(Theo thinks everyone might be a little out of place, trapped.)
11. and I'll find my way back to you, party of two 2k, completed

Summary: Liam comes home, in more ways than one.
14. when oblivion is calling out your name, you always take it further than I ever can 8k, completed

Summary: "Look at me," he says, and Liam almost can't. "Liam."
Liam looks. "You were attacked. It was self defense."
"Okay," Liam says, and feels the blood trickle from the corner of his mouth, the iron coating his throat catching in his lungs. "What if it wasn't."
Home is the first grave.

Teen Wolf 1x07
Still hate the CGI wolf.
Stiles, I know you’re kind of uncoordinated and flaily, but you could have done that faster. Even better, Scott could have done that much faster.
The issue here is that schools have a ridiculous number of entrances.
Nah, I don’t believe it’s Deaton. Like, I think he knows more than he’s saying, but I don’t think it’s him. He likes Scott way too much to torment him like this.
The car battery through the window is actually hilarious.
Locker room is good, but, like, do they have a shop class at this school, because I feel like that may have some useful weapons.
Why did Scott forget that if you’re trying to hide your own noises then the best thing to do is get other things to make a lot of noise. Both Scott and Fuckface have been briefly incapacitated due to loud noises.
Scott, a good boy, whose first reaction is to try to help instead of running.
Stiles, I really feel like the flashlight is more bad than good at this point.
Them outrunning the Alpha is kind of funny.
So there’s three people that could have contacted Allison: Fuckface and Deaton are super unlikely, so it’s most likely the Alpha, but why? Is it because she’s an Argent?
Lydia looking at Jackson like that because of how he was acting with Allison is hilarious with the amount of times she’s looked at Scott like a snack.
They need to invest in a dog whistle for Stiles and earplugs for Scott.
So, you know how Stiles has this thing where he just does whatever he wants because he rarely has to face consequences because of who his dad is? Yeah, as it turns out, that’s a terrible trait to have.
I would not have given Scott this much leeway. I’d’ve left far sooner.
That is a really big/nice pool set up for a rural high school. Wow.
You know, it’s been a little annoying in previous episodes, but in this episode those super long fucking pauses while everyone looks around fearfully are incredibly frustrating and keep pulling me out of the scene. They’re all panicked except when they want a suspenseful beat and that’s such bad writing/directing/editing. There are ways to do suspenseful beats that make sense and they are very much not doing that in this episode.
Again, somehow four kids are beating the Alpha in a straight sprint. Buddy, my suspension of disbelief can only stretch so far.
This is my least favorite episode so far.
Just say the fucking thing Stiles! For a guy who’s never waited to talk, there’s no reason for you to be waiting for their complete attention. And then when you have it you still find the time to be sarcastic. Ugh.
I don’t know is a perfectly reasonable answer here, and also it’s the truth.
Blaming Fuckface is okay too, but I feel like that’s going to bite you in the ass later.
I love how they’re all turning to Scott like he’s supposed to know when realistically speaking (if this were not supernatural shenanigans) how would he possibly know the answer to that?
Well, you didn’t actually have to say anything, but I still agree with Stiles about throwing Fuckface under the bus. Why is it that I only seem to agree with Stiles when it comes to Fuckface?
Jackson deserved to keep punched in his smug little face, tbh.
Out of curiosity, why are we not haranguing Allison to call her dad? The man also has an arsenal, and did better against the mountain lion than the Sheriff did.
Oh, hey, Chemistry classroom. Molotov cocktail anyone?
Nice, Lydia.
Scott is a horrible liar.
I feel like they could make more in the room for if he goes after them instead of Scott. Like, just in case.
Why did he move the janitor’s body? Why would they think he moved the janitor’s body and that Scott would have to track it by smell so that he was the only one who could find it. It would only make sense if the Alpha knew that they would need something from the janitor to get out and they didn’t need anything from him until they went into that specific room. I’m calling plot hole on that.
Jackson you’re a stupid son of a bitch. Trying to murder Scott is going to get you, what? In this scenario it’s still going to leave you trapped and defenseless against something that terrifies you.
I really don’t understand why Jackson was like halfway to death and then was fine, but is now experiencing some of the pain that Scott is when he wasn’t bitten by an Alpha and certainly was bitten by that Alpha. It doesn’t make any sense. I feel like the more convoluted they make this the more stupid it’s going to be.
Okay, I’m stupid too. He got Allison there to force Scott to change so could kill her together and bond, which is why he’s been toying with them instead of just killing them.
Still, doesn’t explain the janitor.
We have had so many goddamn shots in this episode with Scott slowing walking through the school that honestly haven’t provided anything useful, not even suspense. It would make way more sense for Scott to have sprinted back to the Chemistry room acting out of his mind.
Did we really wait through all of that to get the big emotional beat without even seeing Scott’s face? What the fuck kind of choice was that? We should have seen it up close, in much better lighting, and we should have seen his eyes. Oh my god, I am a terrible director, but that was literally the worst choice they could have made. Also, we didn’t need the flashback, those were both filler and annoying.
This is definitely my least favorite episode.
Fuckface’s car is gone. I can’t imagine the Alpha took it, so I’m guessing Fuckface is still alive.
Imagining the Alpha mopping the floor to cover up the evidence is funny.
Not like the cops can pretend ripping open Stiles’ hood and throwing the battery were imaginary. Or even something that they could have done themselves.
You know what? I love Scott and I feel bad for him, but Allison’s totally right. You can’t fault the girl for this choice, it’s completely understandable.

EVERYTHING WRONG WITH THE TEEN WOLF MOVIE
bc I hate it more than I've ever hated anything in my life 😭
Allison is back from the dead and somehow stays alive by the end of the movie as if that's not unnatural af !!! Like she's a human? how is that a thing? why did they do this? I love Allison, I really do but her coming back to life and not being laid back to rest by the end of the movie was so psycho and bizarre. Idk why they made that choice but I hated it
Derek apparently had a child 15 years ago and Allison died 15 years ago so somehow he had a child in season 3? When? When would he have time to do that? He was literally with Jennifer that season 🤨 so when did he make this kid who he seemed to have always been in the life of ? the math isn't mathing. ik teen wolf math sometimes doesn't make sense but I excused it bc I like the show but since I hate this fucking movie I will not excuse it. Jeff Davis tell me how the fuck Derek somehow had a kid in season 3!?
Who is the mother of Derek's child? (We all know that Stiles is the other parent) but fr why is she not mentioned at fucking all??? like it felt so unnatural, like they were specifically talking around it or some shit. I swear Eli never even says the word mom once!! how? why do they act like she doesn't exist? at this point I'm gonna assume Derek made this child asexually through budding or some shit cus wtf
IK Dylan O didn't want to be in the movie but they didn't have to do everything in their power to pretend Stiles didn't exist. The only references to him were the Jeep and Lydia's dumb dream. It made it seem like Stiles doesn't keep up with them anymore and that they don't keep up with him, and that's including his fucking dad. It's so unnatural and ew. I'm also very sad that Kira wasn't here but ik why Arden didn't want to do it. Fuck Jeff tbh. Kira was barely mentioned also, I don't think they EVER said anything about her at all. It's giving Jeff is bitter or smth.
This movie dragged so bad, it was boring as shit and I struggled to get to the 2 hour mark. It was actually painful for me to watch . I wanted to skip through every scene basically, trying to get to SOMETHING interesting, but it was rare that anything like that was going on
Some of the style choices were weird. The clothes they had Deaton in weren't right, it didn't feel like something he'd wear at all. Also so weird to see Chris in a turtleneck, idk if he's worn one before but it looked weird. Peter ate though, I have to give them that.
WHY WOULD MASON BE A FUCKING COP? What about him screams cop? 😐 He should be working with Melissa at the hospital or doing LITERALLY ANYTHING ELSE.
Parrish and Malia 😐 disgusting. He knew her as a teen!!! like hello?? that's weird af! I already hated him and Lydia, bc why is he going after a freshly turned 18 y/o and I was hoping that the writers would know better by now then to do this weird shit but obviously they didn't
What exactly was Harris back for? He barely explained what happened to him or what he knew? It was dumb. If they left him out, I don't think it would've impacted the movie or what we know about Harris at all. Also, I don't remember if they explained but why was he alive anyway?
Abolish Eichen House
Some of the sets were very ugg and didn't feel like teen wolf at all
Peter sniffing the ground like a dog ☠️☠️☠️ SO UGLY 😭 but so hilarious, best scene hands down
Curse count: 9 Shits and 2 Motherfuckers (both from Chris which is funny asf)
The movie was not fun, it didn't have the fun vibes of the original show, all the jokes were meh and didn't live up to the source material.
who tf is Eli's mom 😐 I'm serious
why did former best friends Mason and Liam barely say one word to each other 😐😐😐😐 idc if they had no time, they should've been hugging and crying in the background or some shit
Why did they decide to make Derek burn???? LIKE HUH??? That was sick ! The worse possible death they could've given him! Like that's TRAUMATIC!!! Like were we meant to think this was poetic or smth?? cus I don't. I just think it's sick and weird. Not only that but they made him leave his kid. at this point why'd they even give him a kid just to kill him off. it also kind of felt like they exchanged a dead person for an alive person
the way Liam and Hikari pronounced I love you in Japanese was so bad. im not a language expert but that didn't sound right at all. truly horrendous, get a language coach on set or smth cus that ain't it
them having Allison come back and go back to dating Scott felt very character regressiony for him. like ik he loved allison but so what? you don't need to always end up with your first love. he literally was able to move past her death and get in other relationships. it didn't feel like he was holding a torch for her, it felt like he was able to get past it but now it doesn't. idk it's weird
seeing clips from the tv show made me wanna take the shit off my screen and put on the real show
and lastly this movie didn't need to exist and is not canon in my head

Carrier
Integration
<< first | previous | masterlist | next >>
Stray Kids Urban fantasy AU (feat. Ateez from time to time) | A “carrier service” exists, seemingly only to get people (usually women) home safe after the trains stop running.
Heavy on bad boys with hearts of… some kind of shiny metal, probably.
Warnings: more supernaturally enhanced toxic masculinity, teen peeping on a teen (in a flashback), discussion of a dog attack and the resultant scars
=====
Pain shot through Hyunjin’s eyes as Minho’s pen light shone into them. Minho tsked and rolled his chair to the counter that held his laptop.
Hands between his knees, Hyunjin leaned forward, bracing himself on his palms. He kicked his legs slightly, swinging them in an entirely casual and not at all nervous way.
"So you're their butcher?" He smiled and fluttered his eyelashes as he spoke, trying to flirt as a defense mechanism.
"If I didn't know better," Minho’s eyes didn't stray from his work, "I'd say you were drunk."
"What makes you say that?" Hyunjin leaned further forward, trying to see if he could make out anything that Minho was typing.
"Tell me about your victim."
"LT? Is that short for lieutenant or...?"
Minho finally looked up to meet Hyunjin’s gaze.
Hyunjin felt his lips curl into his best smile. The one that could get him anything he wanted. Coupled with the deep green swirl in his eye that is.
"Sure," Minho rolled his eyes, "now, did she approach you or…?"
If pressed, Hyunjin would admit that he tried to get under Minho’s skin as he described his time with Tempawan. It was obvious, to him at least, that the girl was somewhat important to this group of men. She had even been claimed by the wolf, he was almost certain of that.
"Wait."
Minho had been getting a little annoyed with Hyunjin’s story. He didn't particularly give a flying fuck about what Hyunjin thought Tempawan tasted like, but he had to hear everything if he didn't want to miss anything. There was next to no way of knowing what detail might be the key.
"You said roses and vanilla?"
Hyunjin nodded, purposely letting himself looking a little dreamy.
"Like French vanilla ice cream, and rose flavored icing."
"And she smelled like…?"
"Same thing."
Minho narrowed his eyes, turning his attention back to his laptop.
To the best of his knowledge, people - regardless of whether or not they were human - only had one scent - regardless of the person smelling them. Minho clicked through a series of folders until he had Changbin’s files laid out before him. Scrolling through, he selected one from a discussion they had following one of Little Turtle’s earlier calls.
Hyunjin watched as the spectacled man scanned through his computer. He had to admit that he was getting a little annoyed with how immovable the doctor seemed to be.
Minho was speaking under his breath as he read through his own notes.
"Old forest growth."
"What's that?"
Minho didn't bother answering the question.
Closing the laptop and tucking it under his arm, he stood and exited the room.
Hyunjin waited for approximately six minutes before trying to open the door.
Of course it was locked.
=====
"Felix?" Minho called down the hallway.
There was a bit of shuffling, then a blonde head poked through a doorway.
"Yeah?"
Minho only crooked his fingers, summoning Felix to follow him as he turned and marched off.
Felix turned his head to look at Tempawan. He felt like he should tell her he'd be right back, but she still wasn't awake.
Sighing, he pulled the door shut behind him and hoofed it to catch up with Minho.
=====
"I need your nose," Minho said by way of greeting when he entered Seungmin’s office.
Seungmin startled at the intrusion. He coughed, choking slightly on the egg roll in his mouth.
"Sorry," he stood up, "what?"
"Felix, you take over here," Minho nodded towards Seungmin’s now empty chair, "Seungmin, you come with me."
=====
Seungmin knew better than to try to pry an explanation out of Minho. He'd say as much as he liked, and not a word more.
"What does she smell like to you?"
Seungmin blinked a few times before closing his eyes and breathing in deeply.
"Mm… kind of like… gillyflower?" He nodded, opening his eyes, "gillyflower and fall leaves."
"Alright," Minho nodded, "if you see Jisung, tell him I need him."
"Right."
Minho held the door to the examination room open, pointedly waiting for Seungmin to leave first.
=====
"Just to confirm," Minho started speaking as soon as he opened the door, "roses and vanilla, and that's it?"
Hyunjin didn't bother sitting up. He had gotten bored of reading the instructions printed on the sharps container pretty quickly and was now laying on the exam table, getting annoyed with a mis-alligned ceiling tile.
"Yeah, for her smell. The only thing was that taint, you know?"
Minho sat down, reopening his laptop.
"Enlighten me."
Hyunjin sighed.
"From the wolf. He claimed her, right? I could smell it on him, same as she tasted."
"Which wolf?"
"What do you mean which wolf?" Hyunjin finally sat up, "the wolf. You've only got the one that I know of."
"Technically we have three, but I think you've only met two so far."
Hyunjin gave Minho a look that was somewhere between annoyance and confusion.
"There's the plant boy, the wolf, the absolutely feral vamp, and whatever Chan is."
"I'm assuming you mean Felix, Jisung, and Changbin for those first three."
Hyunjin nodded.
Minho smirked.
"So you've met two wolves."
"Look," Hyunjin huffed. He was so sick of this doctor talking to him like he was an idiot. "I'm no expert, but even I know that Chan isn't a wolf. I don't know what he is, but he's not that."
"Correct. Now,” Minho's fingers fell onto his keyboard, "this taint: what does it taste like?"
"No,” Hyunjin cocked his head to the side, “wait, who's the second wolf?"
"Changbin," Minho glanced up for a second. Just long enough to see fearful confusion cross Hyunjin’s features before letting his eyes fall back to the screen. "Technically anyway. The taint?"
"Uh… yeah…" Hyunjin couldn’t wrap his head around Changbin being a wolf. He had presented as a vampire. Green iris and everything.
"Sorry," Hyunjin shook his head, "uh, it's like… grassy. Like a freshly cut lawn."
"Right," Minho typed away, making the appropriate notes in the appropriate files, "and you say that's the same as Jisung?"
"Yes."
"Well at least that matches."
=====
"This isn't how I pictured doing this but here we are. This is our new driver."
Changbin was on his feet immediately, followed by Jisung.
"I'll quit right now!"
"How stupid can you be?"
"I'll kill him and then quit!"
"I'll fucking help!"
This was approximately the reaction Chan had expected.
"If you don't sit, I'll have Minho sedate you both again."
Hyunjin glanced around the table. His eyes met with the only person there who didn’t seem either immensely stressed, nor to hate him.
“Again?” he mouthed at the man. He received nothing but half of a smile and a shrug.
Jisung threw himself into his chair.
"Thank you," Chan turned to the man still standing. "Changbin?"
"This is a joke, right?"
Chan sighed, but stepped aside. He indicated his spot at the head of the table.
"Might as well state your case now rather than later."
Changbin found himself wishing, not for the first time, that he could take Chan in a fight.
"Where should I even start? The fact that he almost killed Little Turtle?"
"She's fine," Minho interjected. "She could have lost a lot more blood and still been fine."
"I understand that you're taking this a bit personally…" Chan started.
"So we're okay with hiring people who attack in public then? People with a history of attacking in public?"
"I'm sorry if that was your friend's girlfriend or whatever," Hyunjin finally decided to defend himself, "but what the fuck did I ever do to you?"
There was a moment of silence.
Felix was nervously fidgeting, wondering if it would be more important to get between Changbin and Hyunjin, or Changbin and Jisung at this point.
Jeongin was watching Minho.
Minho was staring at Jisung, trying to read his face.
Jisung was an open book. He looked ill. Leaning forward, he at least remained in his seat when he spoke up.
"She's… that's not even the point! Jesus christ man!"
"Sure," Hyunjin rolled his eyes, "I know how you dogs get. You make a claim and suddenly your partner isn't allowed to even think of leaving you. I'm not saying I did nothing, but you can ask her when she wakes up. She came onto me!"
Hyunjin was standing now as well. He was practically ignoring Changbin, staring down Jisung as he spoke.
"Claim?" Jisung stood up now, "I've never claimed anyone! What the fuck are you even talking about?"
"Sure you haven't. She must taste like some other wolf then."
"This is pointless," Jeongin muttered.
"I think we've gone a little off the rails," Chan tried to regain control of the room, "if we could all just calm down for a mome-"
"Tempawan is not the problem here anyway! The real issue is that you're the reason I had to do what I did to Changbin!"
Jisung didn't like being the center of attention. Usually when he had all eyes on him he'd shrink, pull back, and try to redirect them elsewhere.
But he had a point to make.
"You almost killed him," he could feel himself shaking as he pointed at Hyunjin. "You left him for dead. He would have died if I didn't happen to find him and change him."
Hyunjin, who had been ready to argue the problems with werewolf relationship dynamics, lost all steam. His eyes turned to Changbin.
He took in Changbin’s features, actually looking at him for the first time. Jawline, angle of the nose, brow bone…
His eyes widened, spotting the skinny kid underneath the new mass.
"God," his eyes swept down and back up Changbin’s body, "you've certainly bulked up, haven't you?"
=====
"I'm perfectly willing to admit that I fucked up that night."
"Fucked up doesn't even start to cover it!"
Chan sat back, watching Hyunjin and Changbin doing their best to speak civilly.
Jisung had argued that he should be included as well, but Chan had overruled him.
"You and Changbin will just rile each other up."
And thus, Chan was left with mediating between his least predictable and his newest employee.
"I know," Hyunjin agreed, palms outwards as he tried his best to ignore the part of him that wanted to give as good as he had gotten, "I'm not saying this to excuse myself, but I was new. It was a mistake. I was a mistake! I didn't have anyone to show me the ropes. I didn't want to kill you."
Hyunjin sighed, genuinely regretting his early hunts. Changbin, to his credit, didn't take the slight pause in Hyunjin’s words as an opportunity to start berating him again.
"I didn't want to kill anyone…"
Chan noted the way Hyunjin blinked, quickly holding back his emotions as he seemed to cave in on himself.
"I just didn't know how not to."
Chan continued to watch Hyunjin. Arguments about Changbin’s extremely difficult transition away from humanity aside, this was good information on Hyunjin’s character. He could kill, but he didn't like to. He regretted his mistakes. He appeared to struggle with balancing his physical needs and his moral compass.
Changbin rubbed his nose, looking away from Hyunjin. He didn't want to relate to the man who had ruined his life. He had been relatively happy working at A to Z shipping. He had had his coworkers, friends, his game nights, not to mention he had had only one internal monologue. He hadn't known the urge for destruction. It may have been a little boring, by comparison with his current life, but it had been a hell of a lot simpler.
"I get it," he admitted gruffly, "I do get it. I just…" he looked up at Hyunjin, clearing his throat before finishing, "I have dreamed of killing you for four years."
Hyunjin grinned.
"You're a man after my own heart."
=====
"Well?"
Jisung shuffled sideways down the hall, keeping his body facing Changbin in rapt attention as they moved.
"It's fine. He's…" Changbin shook his head, "he's a fucking idiot, but he's fine."
Jisung stopped his crabwalk, staring at Changbin as he continued down the hall.
"So you're fine with what he did?"
Changbin stopped, hanging his head for a moment. Straightening up, he turned to face Jisung.
He was tired. He was exhausted. He was drained. Jisung could see it plainly, now that he had dropped the bravado that came with anger.
"What's the point of being mad at this point? It doesn't change anything. I'm still," Changbin shrugged, vaguely gesturing at his body, "this."
Jisung stared at him. Sure, Changbin had a point, but it wasn't good enough. Especially not after the previous night.
"What about Tempawan?"
A low sound bubbled up from Changbin’s throat. Jisung couldn't help but feel a little satisfied.
"Don't."
"Don't what?" Jisung pressed, stepping forward. He didn't have much height on Changbin, but he made full use of what he did have. "You're just going to let him off the hook for that?"
"If she wasn't your friend, would you even care?"
Jisung, knowing that his friend could whip his entire ass if it came down to it, couldn't help himself. He shoved Changbin against the wall, hands curling into his collar.
"Fuck you!" He spat, "she's family!"
"Family you haven't talked to in a decade," Changbin scoffed.
Kill him. Jisung cleared his throat, aware that Changbin knew his tell.
"Too honest, huh?"
Jisung grit his teeth, ignoring the taunt. He let go of Changbin’s collar and stepped back.
"So she's nothing to you now? You've been wrapped up in her for months, but your fucking Sire comes around and suddenly she's not important to you anymore?"
"He's not my sire," Changbin rolled his eyes. "I'm just being rea-"
"Uh, guys?"
The arguing pair turned their attention to a previously unnoticed Felix.
Felix coughed, withering under their combined glares.
"Uh," he cleared his throat, "she… that is, Little… uh…"
"Just fucking spit it out Felix!"
Changbin swatted at Jisung for his outburst. It was one thing to berate him for forgiving Hyunjin, but there was no reason to lash out at Felix.
"She's awake."
=====
"I knew you worked with Boots," Tempawan smiled weakly at Jisung.
Jisung was fussing over her. He had threatened Changbin into staying away. Well, more like guilt tripped. But having been hopped up on adrenaline and testosterone was adjusting the memory into threats.
He was twitchy. He kept readjusting the blanket over her, making sure her pillow was positioned well, offering her a hand every time she moved more than an inch or two. Eventually, she had verbally bullied him into sitting down.
Now he sat, knees bouncing erratically, picking at his fingernails.
"Felix," he corrected her, "his name is Felix."
"That's cute," she smiled, "but I thought I wasn't allowed to know?"
"Who gives a shit?" Jisung huffed, "you already know mine."
"Yeah," she nodded, then cringed in pain.
In an instant, Jisung was standing by her side again.
"Are you okay?"
"I'm fine," she waved him off, "seriously. Though I'm beginning to think I'm cursed when it comes to dogs."
Jisung’s head tilted. He blinked at her a few times. "What do you mean?"
Minho had informed him of the fake story already. A dog attacked while she was taking a breather outside. It sounded reasonable enough, especially given that Tempawan’s memory had cut out approximately when her and Hyunjin had pushed open the employee exit.
"Or maybe I'm blessed?" She mused, picking at a stray thread on the blanket, "some people barely survive one attack, nevermind two."
Alarm bells were ringing in Jisung’s mind.
"Two? What are you talking about?"
"Yeah,” she tilted her head, eyebrows furrowing, “you don’t remember?"
Jisung shook his head vigorously.
"Actually, now that I think about it," Tempawan groaned, leaning back in the bed, "it was right around when you left. Still, I would have thought you'd have heard about it somehow."
"I didn't hear about anything."
"Ah, well it was the night we planned to meet up. You stood me up, if I recall correctly," she laughed, wincing once more.
Jisung vaguely remembered. His last trip to visit Malaysia. What an absolute shit show that had been.
He was there for two weeks and managed to get turned partway through. He had indeed stood up Tempawan, but only because that was the night of his first, unprepared and unpredictable, transformation.
Luckily for him, the man who had turned him had given him a place to stay that night.
"I waited until past midnight, you know," she sighed, "I figured you had messed up the days and were probably already gone. But still…"
Her words trailed off. She looked sad, defeated. Jisung wanted to hold her. He wanted to apologize, explain. He wanted to give her the confession that he had been planning on giving her that night - along with a second plane ticket.
"Anyway," Tempawan continued on, "I was attacked by a dog that night too. I was in the hospital for almost a week."
Jisung felt ill. He felt dizzy. There was no way. There was absolutely no way. No fucking way.
"Wanna see the scar?" Tempawan perked up, "it's pretty badass."
Jisung nodded, completely incapable of producing words through his panic.
Tempawan pushed herself to sit upright, free of the pillow behind her. She lifted her shirt, revealing the skin of her ribs. She stopped short of revealing her breasts, the shiny bands of her scars being revealed.
Jisung nearly fainted, twice.
On the one hand, he was remembering, in vivid detail, the time he had accidentally spotted his friend changing clothes. How he had been rooted to the spot, unable to look away. He had desperately, pathetically, let his eyes wander over her body. How many times had he replayed that scene in his head? How many times had he dreamed of kissing the mole under her breast? The same mole now being prominently revealed once more?
On the other hand, he was horrified. The signs of skin that had been torn and subsequently reknit itself together made his heart hurt. The indentations in her flesh, showing where tissue had been so surely severed that her body could not fill in the gaps completely, fogged up his brain.
The way the mark seemed to call out to him…
He found himself reaching up to touch the streaks of pink.
"Jisung?"
Tempawan wasn’t sure what the look on her old friend's face was. He seemed concerned but also somehow vacant. Had his eyes always been so light? They looked almost yellow, but she figured it may have been due to the harsh lights of the exam room.
He didn't hear her. All he could hear was high-pitched ringing.
"Quokka?"
His eyes seemed to clear at the nickname. She watched as he redirected his hand to land on her knee. He cleared his throat, shaking his head before looking up at her.
There he is.
She smiled at him, letting her shirt drop down to cover the scars again.
"Maybe they're not as badass as I thought," she tried to break the tension.
"No, uh," Jisung shook his head again, "I just… maybe if I had been there, it wouldn't have happened, you know?"
She took his hand in hers, squeezing it gently.
"If you had been there, what could you have done?" She asked, "it probably would have just ended with both of us in the hospital."
=====
"Where's the leech?"
"Damn, okay, racist, first off," Seungmin scolded Jisung, slowly turning in his chair, "second, I think he's in the garage."
"Sorry, fuck, whatever," Jisung ran a hand through his hair as he threw together half an apology, "what's his fucking name again?"
=====
"Hwang Hyunjin!"
Hyunjin looked up and not at all subtly moved to put his car between himself and Jisung.
"Shit."
To his surprise, Jisung didn't make any move to get closer to him. Instead, he simply stood, sizing him up.
"How did you know?"
"I didn't! I still don't! I've never known anything in my entire life!"
Jisung huffed. Obviously, the new guy had no idea what he was asking about.
"How did you know that she had been attacked?"
"I swear to god I had no fucking clue! I had no idea until I saw you and put two and two together," Hyunjin wasn't usually one to ramble, but he figured the longer he talked the longer he was not being attacked. "Like I'd want to give you another reason to flip shit whenever you see me."
That was fair enough. They didn't run into each other often, but whenever they did, Jisung hadn't exactly held back on how much he hated Hyunjin. Nothing too crazy had happened. Just a bit of posturing that those in the know, such as Bori and the girls, put down to the age-old Vamp/Wolf mutual disdain.
"Shut the fuck up," Jisung cut him off. "Just… tell me about the claim."
Hyunjin flashed his most charming smile.
"Well when a wolf loves a human very much…"
"Oh my god! Just fucking tell me why you think it's me!"
Hyunjin couldn’t stop himself from laughing, doubling over and pausing in his attempts to keep distance from Jisung, "she tastes like you."
=====
Changbin stared at the door. On the other side was the one person that had been plaguing his thoughts for the last few months. He could just go in and talk to her. Chan hadn't given him the go-ahead, sure, but she already knew Felix, Jisung, and probably Hyunjin’s face at this point. There was no reason he had to be the one person left out.
And yet, he had put the black and white mask on. Maybe it was out of fear. He had been rejected plenty of times in his life. He had heard a number of reasons, ranging from sweet to harsh. He felt stupid for harboring those words after all these years, but he felt more comfortable with the helmet. The mask was a good middle ground.
Taking a deep breath, he knocked.
"Finally," he heard it come faintly through the door, "please tell me you have a book or something."
Pushing the door slightly open, he peeked his head into the room.
"Oh!" Tempawan exclaimed, "sorry! I thought you were Jisung."
For a second, he couldn't speak. The room was soaked with her scent. Not the head-spinning version that emanated on her nights out, thank god, but it was still strong enough to cling to the inside of Changbin’s skull.
Kiss her. Make her forget about Jisung.
Changbin swallowed.
"Sorry," he started, "I'm actually… you might not recognize me without the helmet…"
"Bin!" Tempawan grinned. "I was wondering when you'd show up."
She could see his hesitation, and she didn't blame him. She was essentially a stranger, and whatever flirtationship she thought that they had could be exactly that: a thought that she had. On her own.
But she finally had a chance to get to know him. And she wasn't about to pass on the opportunity.
"I didn't want to intrude," he mumbled.
She laughed and waved for him to come into the room.
"Oh shut up," she teased him.
She frowned as he settled onto the wheelie stool that the doctor and Felix tended to favor. He seemed to be avoiding her eyes, and the mask… well…
Sure, she knew there were some rules about the drivers keeping their identities secret, but what did it matter at this point? She'd seen Felix's face at her first first-aid check. She'd known Jisung for years. What was the point of Bin hiding?
After a few seconds of silence, they both started speaking.
"I know w-"
"You deser-"
Tempawan laughed.
"Sorry," Changbin gestured for her to talk first, "go ahead."
"Ah," she smiled at him, "it's stupid. I just…" She played with the edge of the blanket, "I know we don't really know each other, but I'm glad that for once you're not seeing me at my worst."
Changbin smiled, not that she could have seen it. Even if he hadn't had the mask, she was staring at the blanket over her legs.
"You have an open wound on your shoulder," he pointed out, "how is this not your worst?"
She puffed out her cheeks, a reaction he recognized from Jisung. He wondered who had picked it up from whom.
"I just mean that usually you see me when I'm all," she shrugged, "messed up."
Changbin leaned back, tilting his head.
"So you go out once a week. At least you know how to get home safely."
"Yeah," she nodded, smiling at him again. He was sure that his heart stopped at the sight. Thankfully, her next words caused it to restart, jumping into double-time.
"Thank you for taking care of me, Bin."

Finally Watching The Teen Wolf Movie
I finally got access to Paramount+ and while I've been using it to watch Star Trek, I thought it was high time I tried to watch the Teen Wolf Movie.
Now I already know the ending and I already know who the bad guy is.
I am only 20 minutes in and I just... 4 people wrote this together and it still ended up this BAD? I thought when I saw people saying it was bad, that they were just overexaggerating. Nope. I already have SO MANY questions.
Why would Scott leave his pack?? That never made sense in the show and it still doesn't make sense in the movie. You're the Alpha bro. Act like it.
Why in the world does Liam have the nogitsune box?? He wasn't even there for that Arc!! Isaac was the one who had it last along with Chris. Why would they ever give it to Liam?? I guess if they thought he was the last place anyone would look but... idk. It's just weird.
Speaking of Liam, I have nothing against him being with Hikari. That's fine and dandy. They seem super cute. But... who... who were the guys with guns???? Is Liam a part of a gang? Are they his new pack? I have hopes this will get answered later in the movie, but knowing Teen Wolf... it probably won't.
I know we all are wondering who Eli's mom is. And it's like the writers aren't even trying to be logical with it. Allison died 15 years ago. Eli is 15. That means Derek had to have him with someone during season 3. But the only person he was with during that time was the crazy Druid lady, Jennifer. Are we supposed to believe she's the mom?? That doesn't even make any sense because she died just a few days after sleeping with Derek. My Conclusion: Eli is the Dawn of Teen Wolf. If you've watched Buffy, then you know what I am talking about. He has literally materialized out of nowhere and the memories of the characters were altered to make them think he had been there all along. The is the most logical explanation for his existence.
"Why is Jackson here?" is the summary of how I feel about this movie so far. It's like the writers totally forgot how AWFUL Jackson was when he was on the show. It was bad enough when they brought him back for no reason for the final season. This is even worse. He's not even really Jackson. It's like he went off to London and magically became Sherlock Holmes. Jackson was NOT that smart. EVER.
Scott saved the dog before saving the little girl. Wow.
They try to add cussing to be like "Yeah! We'Re A gRoWn Up sHow NoW!" But the dialogue is still cheesy as heck. Don't get me wrong, I love cheese, but this is just.... it's spoiled cheese. Also, JR seems like he just wanted to see how many F words he could get away with.
Oh so Chris just so happens to know some kind of ritual for this exact situation? And he's just bringing this up now?? The whole conversation between Scott, Chris, and Deacon is so clunky it hurts. (EDIT: okay so I thought Chris was acting funky. It's the fox. Alright. That's fine.)
Surprisingly, I am not that upset about Scott still pining after Allison. He's a wolf. Wolves mate for life. Plus it tracks for him. He's always been like that.
Lydia... I love you honey but what was that whole thing with rubbing down Scott's arm and holding his hand? Was that supposed to be a comforting gesture?? It was way too flirtatious.
Peter hasn't even shown up yet and he's the only reason I will keep watching.

@writersmonth Prompt: Day 8 - Watermelon
Fandom: Teen Wolf | Sterek WC: 700
AO3
VIII. Watermelon | Carving Watermelons
The day had been going slower than Derek had thought possible. Don’t get him wrong, he is grateful that they’re no longer constantly getting attacked, and that their lives aren’t in constant danger anymore. But some days, when all he got to do during his shift at the station was fill paperwork, it felt like the arms of the clock stopped moving. He much preferred the days when he, at least, gets to go and rescue Mrs. Karl’s cat from the giant tree he likes to climb but doesn’t know how to get down from. And it was especially hard to stay at work and describe what it was like getting the cat down from the tree the day before for his report because he knew Stiles was back for the summer today, and he was probably already at his place with the rest of the Pack.
After promising the sheriff that he would stop by the Stilinski’s house with Stiles in tow, he headed home. If he was honest with himself, he was probably going to show to dinner with Scott and Isaac, too. Neither was able to stay away from the Spark whenever he came to visit.
However, what he wasn’t expecting when he finally made it home, was to find his entire Pack sitting on the woods behind the Pack house sitting on top of plastic tarps and holding different kinds of knives.
“Stiles?” He asked, curiously, making his way through the house in less than a minute, and opening the screen door to the back yard before Stiles could even answer.
“Hi, Derbear!” Stiles greeted placidly, waving at him with a hand covered in red, and still holding a giant knife. Derek completely ignored the nickname and stepped outside to take a better look. Because from his position it looked like they were cutting open watermelons.
Getting closer to them did not help. “Are you… cutting watermelons open?” Derek asked again, taking a seat on the grass next to Stiles, and looking at the way he seemed to be concentrating in his cuts.
“Well, what do you want me to say? Halloween has bad memories associated to it, and it used to be my favorite. So, yes, Derek Hale, we are carving watermelons. Now, are you going to do your eyebrow thing or are you going to sit down and carve a vampire with me?”
Derek was left speechless for a few seconds, taking a look around and finding every single member of his pack going along with Stiles’ plan. He shrugged, still a little confused, but reached for a knife and started planning how in the world he was supposed to turn a watermelon into a vampire.
“Your dad wants you there for dinner.” Derek commented, marking the outline of fangs with the knife on the watermelon that Isaac had offered him, unsure of when to commit to actually carving. He was also unsure of where they got so many watermelons, but he had long since learned that if no one was actively bleeding, it was better not to ask.
“Thank you, Big Guy. I stopped by the station before coming here, but Jordan said you had gone to get lunch. I chatted with my dad for a bit and he told me we were having dinner. Isaac and Scott are coming, but they are bringing turkey burgers with them.” Stiles seemed to have no issue committing, and was currently stabbing at his watermelon happily.
“I will bring salad, then.” Derek said, still trying to draw something that resembled a vampire on the watermelon skin.
Stiles rewarded him with a giant smile. “Thanks, Sour Wolf! I made a new bun recipe with oat flour.”
Derek simply nodded, even if it didn’t sound all that appetizing, he was used to Stiles’ extreme measures to make sure his dad ate as healthy as possibly. Stiles’ smile only grew impossibly wider when he showed Derek his own watermelon, which had what looked like a dog crying, but Derek was sure was supposed to be a werewolf howling.
So Derek turned back to his watermelon and committed. Summer watermelon carving it was for them.

Please can you list some of the teen wolf podfics, I've been getting back into the fandom lately and i don't have time to read 🥺🥺
Hi Anon! I am so glad you asked!!! Fair warning these podfics are fairly long. In my defense, I was in a mood lmao
[podfic] Wolf in the House by JoeLawson (author) reena_jenkins (podficer) 4 hours.
“What? It’s totally an improvement. He’s not scowling, or dating bad guys, or slinking around in unsanitary places. Still a bit paranoid, but what can you do. At least he’s a lot easier to get along with when you can buy his affections with ear rubs.” “And you always wanted a dog,” Sheriff added wryly. “And I always wanted a dog.”
[podfic] What I Did On My Summer Vacation by Grimm (author) read by lunchee (podficer) 14 hours
There's something weird about Beacon Hills that Stiles can't quite put his finger on. The way everyone in town knows his name the day he arrives. The way they insist the melancholic howling that echoes through the forest every night is just a dog. The way his dad denies getting a dog, even though Stiles comes home to find one sprawled across his bed, some big black thing whose eyes gleam red in the right light. The way that massive oak tree out in the woods vibrates under his touch, pulsing with sickly life. There's something weird going on in this town, and Stiles is determined to get to the bottom of it.
[podfic of] hope is the thing with feathers by shanastoryteller (author) Flowerparrish Pods (podficer) 2.75 hours
Stiles is ten when he saves the Hales from their burning home and Derek from a wolfsbane bullet, and this establishes a pattern that seem to continue indefinitely.
What Goes Around [PODFIC] by KouriArashi (author) Opalsong (podficer) <8 hours
"Well,” Stiles says, “if they’re going to hunt werewolves, I’m going to hunt them.” It’s a ridiculous statement from a ten-year-old, but he’s obviously one hundred percent sincere. For the first time since the fire, Peter feels life stir inside him, feels purpose. It’s kismet, clearly. He’ll never meet the child he would have had with Olivia. Instead he’s met this boy, this brilliant, determined, cynical child with a world of potential. Peter kneels down in front of him so they’re at eye level. “How do you feel about doing that together?”
Note: this one is super dark and honestly Stiles is really OOC, but it's very good!
I hope you enjoy!

Wild Darlings
Sims 3: Wild Darlings
A howling 'hello' and welcome to our humble home in the supernatural country of Moonlight Falls. My name is Ana Darling and since I was little loved reading fairy tales and stories about supernatural beings like werewolves, witches, fairies and vampires but was really fascinated with the werewolves as they seemed to be perfect human beings until the full moon unleased the beast within them. Now that I'm married to one of them, I can truly say that werewolves are not as vicious as the general Sim public make them out to be but are very protective of their family and make sure they are well taken care of and kept safe from those who would do them harm.
Tumblr media
Let me tell you little more about myself and how I came to be married to lovely man who is also part wolf. My maiden name is Baez and was born in Simselona, Spain into a family who loved making and listening to music especially Latin. As far back as I can remember, I have always wanted to write songs for movies become a 'Hit Movie Composer'. My hobbies include playing any kind of musical instrument, read books and have written a few myself. I also enjoy photography and being the 'daredevil' that I am, tend to get into dangerous positions to get the perfect shot of a little critter or other scenery. Some of the local businesses in Moonlight Falls have purchased my photos to hang on their office walls.
Tumblr media
Getting back to my life's story, I was part of the school band in high school and excelled in music and English class which earned me a music scholarship to a prestigious university at Simmington State University where I met my wonderful husband, Kory Darling who was studying science and medicine in preparation for his future medical career and lifetime wish of becoming an 'alchemy artisan'. My favorite movie growing up was 'Sim Teen Wolf' which was about a teenager who found out that his father was a werewolf and that he was also one which Kory tried to hide but one night he could no longer do so when his body began to radically change during a full moon. Kory's inner wolf emerged when his clean cut short hair suddenly grew long as well as his nails and before long he had transformed into a wolf-like creature and ate like a dog.
Tumblr media
After that night most of the other students were scared of Kory and others made fun of him. Things got so bad at times that Kory but I reached out to him and helped him by being a listening ear and showing the other students that there was nothing to be afraid of. Kory and I quickly became close friends and started dating shortly after that. One thing led to another and it wasn't long before we were in love with each other. Kory proposed to me just before we graduated with our degrees and were married a few days later.
Tumblr media
We moved the the quaint, mystic town of Moonlight Falls to begin our family and careers. Kory started working as an 'organ donor' at the local hospital where he would try to convince families of loved ones who were victims of tragic accidents decide to donate their organs to help others live. Once our new house was built, I began my journey to becoming a Hit Movie Composer by getting a job at the local theatre as a fan in the music career.
Tumblr media
Not long after getting settled into Moonlight Falls and our careers, Kory and I welcomed our first child into the world, a little girl whom we named Dana. She takes after her mother in her love for playing musical instruments especially the bass. Dana also likes to invent things and gets excited in everything she does but tends to be a little snobbish and looks down on those do not measure up to her standards but we try to teach her to be kind to everyone she meets. Dana is now in high school and became romantically involved with one of the local teen fairies, Sophie Rodgers at the high school prom after they became friends and was invited by Sophie to be her date. Our daughter has also developed a love for little critters and wants to become a 'zoologist' by having at least 20 minor pets such as turtles, rodents, birds, snakes, and lizards in her lifetime. Dana is now on the honor roll and will be graduating soon from high school.
Tumblr media
Our son, Korbin was born shortly after Dana started grade school and inherited his father's werewolf gene once his toddler years were over, he began changing into his werewolf form during a full moon. Korbin is virtuoso like his mother and likes things to be 'neat' and tidy. Despite his grumpy side Korbin wants to be 'Super Popular' and have as many friends friends as he can throughout is lifetime. He likes the color lime green, soul music and is looking forward to when someone in his family learns to make his favorite food which is crepes.
Tumblr media
Not too long after Korbin started school Kory and I welcomed our second daughter, Koralee into the family. She is fully human like myself and Dana but a genius like her father. We have to be very quiet when Koralee is sleeping though as the slightest noise will wake her up.
Tumblr media
After many years of hard work, Kory and I have both reached the top of our careers. Kory is still working on his alchemy lifetime wish but hopes to became to make and use more of his potions in the latter half of his life while he cares for his patients at the hospital as the town's World Renown Surgeon. Now that I am a Hit Movie Composer, my name will show up in the music credits of hit movies in your Sims local theatres.
Tumblr media
That's all for now and hope that you all have a great night and weekend. Kory and I will share stories of our adventures around the world in our next visit.
Tumblr media
Happy Full Moon to you all!
Ana Darling

okay so i AM going to talk about the problems with shiver but in a serious way. keeping in mind i’ve read the books a few times but it’s been at least a year or two since i did more than pick through them, so. memory shot
i’m also trying to be as factual and neutral as possible but i will give my personal opinion on everything and i’m biased bc i love this book so it is. generally critical-positive.
shiver & neurodivergence/mental health
while it’s not explicitly stated, grace’s mom (potentially dad?) and her best friend rachel are both heavily adhd-coded. rachel is described as “ditzy” and is always hyper and excitable. i think she’s a little bit stereotypical, a little over the top, but nothing about her strikes me as especially bad rep. grace’s mom, on the other hand, is incredibly distracted and always off doing The Art, and neither of grace’s parents ever have time for her or remember that she exists. so. there’s that.
idk i have adhd and i don’t really have a problem with it, i feel like rachel’s coding was very deliberate and the parents’ less so. the parents’ actions are definitely never excused just bc they’re flighty and distractible, which is correct, it’s still their job to raise their kid regardless of their issues. but i won’t speak for everyone.
second, salem is one of the minor wolf pack members, characterized by his “running eye” and the implication that he’s not All There. we don’t see enough of him in flashbacks to really tell what’s going on there, but he seems to have a solid place in the pack as both a wolf and a human. i always felt like him Looking Crazy was overkill, but again, we only see him as a human in flashbacks, and very rarely, so i can’t draw many conclusions.
there’s also shelby and jack, two side characters who are frequently referred to as “psycho” or “psychotic.” mostly by isabel. i’m inclined to let this slide with a critical look bc the book did come out in 2009, and isabel is absolutely the kind of girl who would use those words. she’s mean. but the language and the implications are there, and ofc i don’t experience psychosis so i can’t say it’s fine or not definitively.
we see shelby more. she seems to lack empathy and have a sadistic side, as shown by her torturing a bird and releasing mr. darrio’s dogs to attack (and nearly kill) paul. beck implies once that she comes from an abusive home, so it’s possible she has a personality disorder caused by trauma. i don’t know enough about personality disorders to attempt to diagnose her, though. she’s also shown to have an obsession with sam, who is about her age, talking about them being mates as wolves someday when they’re both pre-teens. she likes being a wolf for the escapism, which is fair, actually. she does attempt to kill both grace and sam a couple of times and successfully kills grace’s friend olivia. i think shelby is super scary and interesting but there’s also definitely some very ugly implications there. she dies unredeemed.
jack is isabel’s brother who is presumed dead in a wolf attack until he shows up as a werewolf. pre-wolf, he’s known to be violent and a bully, and actually provoked the pack to attack him by shooting them with a BB gun. as a wolf he is mostly unstable and violent, but doesn’t kill anything more consequential than his family dog. ouch. he does, however, kidnap grace at one point in an attempt to find a “cure” for werewolfism, and would have killed her if she didn’t comply. he just seems to have a lot of anger management issues, to be quite honest. he does die in the process of actually curing his werewolf-ness and this is treated as sad. it’s definitely a horrific way to go (untreated bacterial meningitis. the idea is you burn the wolf out via fever, then hope you can treat the meningitis in time. did not work for him). i think jack is just generally a dick and isabel calls him a ps*cho bc that’s how she is.
finally, there’s cole, who as i mentioned is deeply suicidal and he does drugs and becomes a werewolf about it. he also gets a whole book to himself, it’s great. he’s…basically just your standard bad boy rockstar who’s actually a tortured genius who’s actually an asshole, but he has Growth. i love him, personally. i can’t think of anything wrong with his portrayal in the books but i thought i’d include him in the interest of thoroughness.
shiver & representation.
there are zero (0) characters of color in shiver. it’s set in minnesota. the one exception MIGHT be paul, who is described as “dark” (not dark-skinned or dark-haired, just dark) and is black in wolf form. if you do decide that paul counts, he does die, but so do like, a fuckton of characters, and he does make it through most of three books iirc. werewolves are NOT a racism allegory in this series. and i’m white, so again, not my place to decide, but i think “no poc” is at least a step above “poc but they’re all treated horribly.”
originally this was just a race section but i’m back to add that (other than the section above), there are no characters from marginalized groups at all. again, it’s better than bad rep, and sign of the times and all, but it’s…definitely a thing.
shiver & cliches
yeah now that we’ve gotten through the ~problematic~ bits we gotta address the “twilight knockoff cashgrab” allegations. i have not read twilight (i feel so unqualified to be doing this?? i have no expertise on anything), BUT my main impressions are:
vampires
super special immune to vampires MC
werewolves
love triangle
so, shiver has werewolves. that’s it. the werewolves in shiver turn into regular old wolves every winter, then to humans in the summer. every year, it takes less cold to turn them wolves and more heat to turn them human, shortening their human time, until roughly 20 years in they become wolves forever. no special powers, no imprinting mess, nada.
(if you’re curious the book explains that moving to a warm climate doesn’t work. some of the pack moved to texas, but the constant heat just made them hypersensitive to cold and one of them got turned by air conditioning. you can cure werewolfism with an extremely high fever, but this also obviously has a high chance of killing the human as well.)
no vampires. no love triangle. one dude has an obvious crush on grace but she brushes him off even before sam is an option.
technically grace is a little bit special because she was attacked by wolves but didn’t turn. this is bc soon after she was locked in a hot car by her parents while also having the flu, and, you guessed it, got hot enough to cook the wolf out of her. she does still have some wolf traits like the ability to communicate with them in their telepathic image-language a bit. her experience is how they figure out the cure later on, but it’s not permanent and she does eventually become a werewolf as well. she and sam do have a Special Connection, but it’s because he was the wolf who dragged her away from the pack when they attacked her as a kid, and she remembered and watched him in the woods after that while he developed a crush.
the only twilight things i know a lot about are breaking dawn pt 2 the movie and that is absolutely nothing like shiver, lol. there’s no politics in shiver, there’s barely even a wolf pack by the time the current plot happens.
i will actually talk about the “cashgrab” element in another post bc it started getting too long so stay tuned
shiver & unproblematic crimes
i think the book uses “sexy” as a descriptor like, four times, and i hate that.
i think rachel is kinda annoying.
sam has never done anything wrong ever in his life and has so much plot armor. actually i don’t think this is a problem. i love him and he deserves everything
“lovely summer girl” is not actually that great. it’s very sweet but eh. some of sam’s other bits of lyrics throughout the book are cool though
the tl;dr of all of this is that shiver has some uncomfortable issues. but i don’t personally think that they make it unreadable or not worthwhile if you’re interested in that kind of thing. it is a little bit cringe at times, it’s not stiefvater’s best, but it’s good at being disturbing and devastating and romantic, which is the point.

Would Mav like to make peace with dinosaurs in general or would he rather just stay away from them?
Tumblr media
Perhaps when he was younger, and far closer to the trauma, he’d have a harder time staying less than feral at the sight of a gigantic, murderous lizard, but these days it takes pretty specific circumstances and triggers to send Mav into a state.     He’s not truly afraid of anything besides rejection from one he has devoted himself to/has become close too, fully confident in his ability to survive absolutely anything - so while he’s not FOND of dinos or wolves and wouldn’t go out of his way to say, take revenge on them for what happened on a particular prehistoric island, there’s no saying he wouldn’t absolutely hit on Drake(winkwonk @xdiez) even if he knew he was a godamn T-rex.

STRAYKIDS AS PETS
(Maknae Line)
Synopsis: How you met him & how it’s going since. (Either dog or cat)
Warning: fluff, mentions of abandonment but of angst not much
Pairing: skz x reader (gender neutral)
Jisung:
Tumblr media
Sheltie dog he is. You met Jisung at a festival. They were selling dogs for a cheap price and most of the people crowding the center were looking to get puppies. Jisung happened to be the only adult dog there. With a huff, he stayed in his cage rather than run around in the small fenced area the other pups were doing. In his mind, he always thought that he would never get adopted. He wasn’t pet material enough for anyone to have any interest in. Or lovable enough at that. Deciding it was best to just try to get some sleep. That was until a group of college teens had passed by. Most of them awed at the cute puppies. You on the other hand saw Jisung in his crate. You didn’t know what to exactly call it, maybe fate but you really wanted the attention of Jisung’s rather than the pups. Making kissy noises to grab his attention. Jisung looks up and sees you crouched down. Your hand out to him, confused. This was the first time in months since he has gotten any sort of attention from a stranger. “Hi” you say softly at him. Jisung slowly gets out of his crate and makes his way over to you. Letting you pet him, you felt how soft he was. His beautiful brown eyes captivating you.
“You should take him.” The man who worked in the sale for pets said. “He’s been with us ever since he was a pup. No one even glances at him simply because he’s older than the puppies.” Jisung felt his heart race. Will this be the day? Will he finally have a home? He didn’t want to get his hopes up but no matter how much he tried to tell himself not to, he couldn’t prevent his tail from wagging vigorously. “Oh I...” you seemed hesitant to say yes. You didn’t expect to adopt a dog especially since you never owned one or taken care of one. You’re more of a cat type of owner. In fact, you have a cat back at home named Minho. Jisung’s tail slowly came to a halt. He knew it. He wasn’t getting adopted today or ever at that. Lowering his head, he tried to ignore the pang feeling in his chest. He really was getting used to the feeling of your soft hands petting his head softly. “Oh alright.” Almost snapping his neck for how fast he lifted it, he saw the bright smile on your face. “Great!” The man said. Jisung couldn’t believe it. He finally has a home, a human to look out for him. Or scratch that, a human he can look out for. Oh how he always wanted a human to give all his love and affection to. He couldn’t keep it in any longer. Jumping in glee, he covers you in sloppy wet kisses. Even if you groaned and tried to get him to stop, he couldn’t. That’s just how happy he was. Jisung absolutely adores you. A lot of the time you will see him admiring you from a distance, if not he’ll even sit by you and just stare. At first you found it weird but you got used to it. That’s how much he loves you. He’ll stick to your side a lot. Minho teases him for being such a clingy dog but he can’t help it. He adores you so much it hurts to be away from you. He has severe separation anxiety. Minho knew immediately the first day when you had gone to work, Jisung looked like he could lie dead any second if he didn’t see you or hear your beautiful voice. Now every time you go out, Minho doesn’t think twice. He goes to him and comforts him, tries to distract him until you come back home. When you do come home, the both of you spend the rest of the night comfortably in each other’s presence.
Felix:
Tumblr media
Felix is most certainly an orange tabby. Your sister had a female tabby who was in fact Felix’s mom. When she gave birth to a litter of three Felix immediately had gotten attached to you. It had gotten to a point where he would neglect his mom, siblings and your sister to just be with you. Once when you had to go home, he had escaped and managed to get in your car. It wasn’t until you got the the first stop light where you heard the soft meow come from him. Squealing as you turn around and we’re met with his small self. Tilting his head as if to say he had no idea why you were so shocked to see him. You made a u-turn and had to bring him back, even though you didn’t want to but you knew it was for the best. Besides, Felix wasn’t yours and your sister seemed pretty attached to the cats as well. When coming back, your sister let out a breath she was holding in. Relieved, but seeing you hold Felix softly and carefully in your hands, she just knew how much the bond you and Felix made was a lot stronger than she could ever make with him. Your sister decided it was best if you kept Felix so you agreed without hesitation.
For over three years now you two have grown closer than ever. You know him like the back of your hand and so does he. He knows your every move, your routine, your thoughts. How you’re feeling, everything. He’s always prepared. He seems to know exactly how to cheer you up and keep you company. One thing that he doesn’t like, is the constant smell of other animals on you. Since you work at a veterinary clinic, you deal with all sorts of animals. So when you come home and he smells all the animals, he immediately rushes to you to scent you all over again. Wanting his and only his smell on you. When you get stressed, Felix knows to give you space so he usually naps on the couch until you cool down. But if he sees you’re about close to break down, he immediately rushes to your side. Running his soft small head to your hand, he loves being engulfed in your arms. Running his head in your chest as you pepper him in kisses and hold him close to you. Falls asleep in your arms, gets real whiny when you let go though. Over all, loves you so much that he hates just the mere thought of ever seeing you cry.
Seungmin:
Tumblr media
This baby is most certainly a brown Labradoodle. It all started when you were at the carnival your city has every year. Seungmin’s pals (Jisung, Chan & Changbin) already have owners. Since they’re all pretty protective of their human, they had gotten out of their homes to spy on their humans to make sure they were not in trouble. Since no dogs are allowed, they walked to the sides and crawled under the trailers. Eating any of the corn dogs/sausages people dropped on the floor. Seungmin didn’t have an owner. In fact, all four of them were strays at one point. The three of them had found a home & Seungmin was the only one left. It’s not that he wasn’t desirable, believe me so many families/people wanted to adopt him at the foster home they were brought to when getting caught by the pound, nice woman she made sure the four of them didn’t get put down if not possibly adopted or picked up. But Seungmin always refused. He just liked being a stray dog. A lone wolf. Anytime they would adopt him, he would give them so much trouble to the point where they would come back and return him. It’s been two years and it’s still been that way. The boys still come out to see him. After a while, Seungmin had left the foster house and just wanted to live on his own. Maybe even leave the city for a while and see what’s out there. But that idea was cut short when the boys had convinced him to come with them to spy on their humans. He couldn’t help but roll his eyes as they coo’ed at the laughs their humans made. Conversing as they waited in line to get on a ride.
Looking around, he saw all the different people there having fun. Well all except you. You see, you weren’t exactly in a healthy friend group. You were in a group of three and the two other girls seemed to have kept you out of everything. You were standing behind them as they talked as if you weren’t even there. The ride could only let two people on at a time and when it got to your guys turn, you just now realized it and had to get out of the line given that you had no one to ride with. “Sorry” your toxic friends said nonchalantly as they got on. You crossed your arms as you nodded at them. A way to say ‘it’s alright’ even though you didn’t feel alright. You trailed behind them most of the time there and they hadn’t even realized you were there. You felt like a ghost. So you left, not like they cared. You went to buy a hotdog and sat down at the benches they had for people to sit and eat. As the boys were going to leave to go under another trailer and follow their owner’s Seungmin stayed behind. He felt...bad. Which is unusual for him since he usually doesn’t care for humans at all. “Seungmin?” Chan says, “huh?” “You coming?” “Oh yeah.” As they walk off, Seungmin did as well but in the other direction. When getting closer the frown on you only gotten bigger. God, how he hated seeing that frown on you. Walking under the table he poked his head out. Never once has he acted cute but I guess there’s a first time for everything huh? “Oh hey there. Aw are you hungry?” Letting out a soft bark, you share your hotdog with him as Seungmin happily eats the other half you gave him. You rub his head softly, your fingers feeling nice on his head. You felt bad that you had to leave him but you didn’t even realize he was following you until you got out of the carnival. The boys didn’t understand what Seungmin was doing until they saw you. Hope started rising in them. Hope that you would give him a home just like their humans did to them. Since your friends gave you a ride, you had to walk home. Luckily it was only a few blocks away but still you didn’t like walking alone. Hearing the constant click on the cement knowing it wasn’t you, you look behind you and see the brown Labradoodle. A bright smile plastered on your face. He didn’t know what he was doing nor what came over him but as soon as he saw that smile on your face he knew it was his duty to continue putting more smiles on your face. 3 months as passed by and you cut your toxic friends out of your life. With the help of Seungmin of course. He kept barking and growling at them every time they got near you. His black collar with gold writing of his name around his neck. His matted hair now freshly cut and combed. He smells like vanilla and he has a decent sized home with a large bed just for him, (even though he sleeps on your bed. You don’t like that his fur gets on your bed but he still sleeps on it without you knowing) Min absolutely hates seeing you stressed &/or upset. He usually gives you space until he knows you’re ready for cuddles. Then that’s when he slowly crawls his way to you and nuzzles his head under your arm for you to hug him. What a surprise you had when you opened the door one morning and saw three dogs sitting in front of your porch. Barking behind you, looking back and there was Min. Tail wagging as his tongue sticked out. You couldn’t understand what they were saying but it was clear as day that the boys were congratulating Min for finally finding a home and a lovely human to care for.
Jeongin:
Tumblr media
Now, Jeongin. I see him as a Corgi. You met him at the shelter. You were actually there to adopt a cat since you grew up around them more than dogs and just felt like adopting one that day. As you were walking down the hall and looked at the animals locked up. You felt pity for all of them, oh how you wished you could adopt them all. As you walked by, Jeongin caught sight of you. His tail started thumping on the floor as his head peaked out a bit to get a better look at you. ‘Wow’ he thought. He frowned when he saw you crouch down and start petting a kitty. Scoffing, ‘that should be me’ Jeongin thought. “That should be me” Jeongin says. Obviously to himself. His barks starts to get louder to the point where he started causing a scene. The man who was showing you the variety of cats huffs as he apologizes to you. Walking over as he yells at Jeongin to be quiet. Jeongin lowers his head as he gives up. You on the other hand caught a glimpse at him and wanted to get a better look at him. Walking away from the cats, you approached the man. As he goes to apologize for the inconvenience, you crouch down. Making noises to grab Jeongin’s attention. His head perks up as he sees your beautiful self right in front of him. Getting up immediately as he rushes over to you. Damn door getting in the way of you two. His small tail wagged as his short legs tried to touch you. Wanting to do nothing more but be in your arms. Oh how much he wanted you to chose him. For a while there you were petting him. Keeping him entertained as he kept you entertained as well. In the end, you knew he had to come home with you. He felt sad when you walked off and thought ‘That’s it? No goodbyes?’ But his life was complete the second he saw that same man start to unlock the door with you behind him. Rushing over to your legs as he circled around you. Jumping on your legs as a way to tell you, ‘carry me’ It’s been three weeks since you adopted Jeongin and things couldn’t get better. He still has to adjust the new area. Seeing that he’s gotten used to the same four walls keeping him entrapped. He didn’t know how much space there was in the world. Oh and the car rides, 1000/10. Gets very grumpy when you don’t take him with you for any errands to be made. Still gets a bit confused when you tell him bad dog for peeing in the house. But if not peeing inside means that you remain content then he’ll gladly give that up. He growls softly at you when you tease him for his little legs. The trouble he has when jumping on the couch or bed. Thankfully you bought him small stairs making it easier for him to get on. The boy loves you dearly seriously. He starts howling when you take too long in the bathroom because he’s easily bored. And if you’re watching tv and he doesn’t find it interesting, he pushes your leg with his paw. Urging you the change the channel until he’s satisfied. Overall, loves you so much and your 540/10 best human to him.
(So sorry Felix’s was a bit shorter than the rest I couldn’t think of other ways to keep his as long as the others!)

Hello there :) First of all thank you so very much for all the fics you help us explore ❤️
I wanted to ask, if you have any Sterek fics which are AUs of movies Dylan and Tyler had been in (like the Maze Runner, Everybody wants some, Love and Monsters, and so on). I've been looking for some good (complete) ones, but I can't find much. 😔 Thank you 😉
This was fun! Here you go.

Not like this by HopeSilverheart
(1/1 I 5,222 I Teen)
Some people would count a kiss with Derek Hale as a huge win, but Stiles wasn’t just anyone. Derek was his roommate and kissing him would only make things weird, and he couldn’t believe they had somehow found themselves in this situation, with all their friends yelling at them to kiss from the other side of the closet door.
“This is ridiculous,” Derek rolled his eyes. “We are not going to kiss! I am not going to kiss Stilinski! Just let us out before you forget about us and leave us in here all night.”
Or: Derek wants to kiss Stiles. Just... Not like this.

Everybody Wants Some Sterek by Electricviolinist, Marbleeyes
(1/1 I 26,262 I Mature)
Loosely based on Everybody Wants Some. Stiles thought College was going to be a hundred times better than High School, especially after winning a baseball scholarship. It was a shame that he'd forgotten about his hidden talent of pissing off everyone he meets, especially a certain green-eyed team mate.

(14/14 i 36,898 I General)
7 years after the apocalypse Stiles sets out to find his high school girlfriend Heather who he’s discovered is still alive in a world overrun with monsters. Along the way he meets Boy, an unusually intelligent dog with his own past tragedies (and who refuses to be called Dude) and the mysterious Argent clan who seem to know more than anyone should, and may be connected to several terrible deaths.
Thank you to snowqueenlou the best beta reader one could hope for. She is the reason this isn't an incoherent mess of typos and tenses and completely missing parts of the story.

Weekly Witcher Fic Recs 8
A Dedication - part of the Meet Death Sitting series (iorveth/saskia, iorveth/oc, explicit, complete, 10k) Iorveth's relationship with Saskia takes on a new dimension.
Belong (geralt/jaskier, mature, complete, 90k, modern au) Modern multi-perspective Geraskier AU with: Good Dad Geralt, Teen Ciri, and Teacher Jaskier. Set in and around Boston, Massachusetts, USA. Subtle crossover in X-Men verse. Geralt and Ciri are mutants. Jaskier is human. Geralt is Ciri’s legal guardian. He works as a Whole Foods butcher in Blaviken to make ends meet. Ciri is starting high school this year, but secretly being a mutant makes it difficult to fit in. Jaskier is a stylish, uninspired music teacher at Ciri’s high school. He hasn’t had much luck with love, until he meets Geralt.
Connection (eskel/geralt, teen, complete, 4k, modern au) Geralt is recovering slowly. For every step forward, he seems to take several steps back. His life improves when he’s given a service dog, but the idea of facing other people—real people, with judgments and options, who see him only as a burden—is almost more than he can handle. Then, he meets a large, soft-looking man with an even larger, softer dog, and he begins to hope that real, genuine connection might still be possible for him…
Devil in Your Pocket, Angel in Your Bed (eskel/lambert, mature, 4k, complete, modern au) Lambert was about to text back, tell dumbass Dandelion not to worry about him, when a new message came in. A photo. “Fuck,” Lambert hissed under his breath. Dandelion sent him a picture of this other “friend,” and fuck seemed like the only correct response. Honey tanned skin, brown hair long enough to hang in front of sparkling green eyes, and arms as big as tree limbs had Lambert shifting in his seat, trying to adjust. But those eyes, those eyes had him caught. Deep and soulful, Lambert could tell there was a mind under that pretty face. He had scars on his cheek too, a little more obvious than Lambert's, which is probably why the picture was taken from that side, he had his supposedly bad side turned away... But there was no bad side to this man, not that Lambert could see. Another message came in. His name is Eskel.
for love, for love, for love (geralt/jaskier, explicit, complete, 3k, omegaverse) “I want you to knot me,” Geralt had murmured against his chest, unprompted, that first night. Jaskier groaned. “You— that— you can’t just say that to me, Geralt.” Geralt is different than most omegas. Jaskier loves him all the same.
home is where the hearth is (aiden/lambert, teen, complete, 2k) Lambert has a Saovine surprise for Aiden, if Aiden can just trust him long enough to get there.
Kneel For Me (aiden/lambert, explicit, complete, 2k) Lambert's reunion with Aiden on the Path every spring somehow always leads to the same thing: Lambert on his knees for his Cat and Aiden taking whatever pleasure he wants from his Wolf.
Life After (eskel/jaskier, mature, wip, 4k, modern au) Eskel struggles to make ends meet as a single father. He works two jobs, goes hungry to ensure his daughters have everything they need, and hasn't paid much attention to his own healing. Then a brightly dressed stranger steps in to help him when he's caught short of money at the front of the supermarket queue, and Eskel is forced to gather the shattered fragments of his heart to see what's left. Is it time to think about life after...?
Steadfast and Longing (jaskier/lambert, eskel/lambert, teen, complete, 3k) While Lambert had enjoyed a long, happy marriage to Dandelion, the bard was only human. After he's passed, Lambert goes home.
The Family We Choose - part of the Everyone Loves a Pyrotechnics Guy series (coën centric, teen, wip, 20k, modern au) Coen is caught up in the middle of a rough childhood and is recommended for foster care, but will his new foster family be better than the family he leaves behind? This story follows along with the events that leads Coen to join the Morhen family. A Modern AU.

Blue Moon - Part 5
A/N: See masterlist for prompts used. (And the list of amazing people who have helped me with this.) This one gets kinda heavy again. Don’t blame me! Blame the season! But you might wanna recheck the warnings on the masterlist just to be sure, and know the Sourwolf lovin’ and content is coming! (And hope to high heaven that Jennifer Blake isn’t here to stay. Please. Release the Sourwolf, Ma’am.)
I do not own Teen Wolf or it’s characters. Sadly.

“You two are idiots!” you hissed after Isaac and Boyd as they made their way down the sidewalk in front of the McCall house, back toward Stiles’ waiting Jeep.
“Today would be nice!” Stiles hollered from behind the steering wheel, his fingers drumming impatiently while he waited. “I only agreed to do this because I owe Scott, and my car is already starting to smell like dog, so can we please move this along so I’m not late for school?”
Climbing into the backseat and sliding over to make room for your packmates, you reached forward and whacked the back of Stiles’ head. “No dog jokes.”
“You didn’t have to follow us, you could have stayed in the car with Stiles like you were when we got here.”
You leveled a glare on Isaac as he smirked at you from the seat opposite you. “I had to get out of the front seat anyway, so I figured I would see what the idiocy was all about.”
Boyd let out a snort from the passenger seat and shook his head gently, despite his small grin, before he turned and looked out the front passenger window. He didn’t talk much, especially since Erica, but he was always listening. That’s why he was always one step ahead.
You smiled at him briefly before Isaac snapped in front of your face, making you scowl in his direction again. “Go to school, Y/N. No need for you to be at the loft any more than you need to.” After hearing about what you saw the night they were all trapped at the motel, they had all been for you not going back there unless it was necessary. They didn’t exactly want to go, either, but their frustrations with Derek could wait for a time when everyone’s imminent safety wasn’t at stake.
“I still don’t totally get your plan, but I hope you don’t all wind up dead.” You shuddered. “This could go badly so many different ways….”
“Be optimistic, Y/N!” Stiles protested, looking at you in the rearview mirror as he pulled up in front of the loft. He turned in his seat to meet your gaze after putting the car in park, letting the engine idle. “If their plan works, hopefully you can move back to the loft once this all settles and get out of my hair.”
You ruffled his hair as you made your way out after your packmates, smiling at his cries of protest, and hesitating before fully getting into the passenger seat. Turning around you gave Isaac a hug, ignoring his groan and awkward back pat in return. “Just don’t do anything stupid.” Turning to Boyd, you wrapped him in an embrace, which he surprisingly returned. “I need you guys.”
“We need you, too, Y/N.” Boyd was even smiling when he pulled away, holding on to your shoulders. “Which is why you have to go to school and cover for us.” He turned you and gave you a gentle squeeze on the shoulders before lightly shoving you into the Jeep. “Remember what we told you to say?”
You grimaced. “Yes. Do I have to?”
“Only if you want this plan to work,” Boyd smirked.
“Fine,” you huffed, shutting the door, and leaning out the window to finish the conversation.
“And be as descriptive as possible,” Isaac snickered, and you glared at them both before it melted into a small laugh.
“You owe me. Big time.” Turning to Stiles, you saw that he had just finished fixing his hair, and it took all you had not to reach out and mess it up again.
“Don’t even.” Stiles held up a finger in warning at you.
“I didn’t do anything!” you cried, grinning.
“You thought it, and you know it, and lying is not a good attribute, Y/N.”
You turned and waved at your two friends, smiling as they chuckled and turned toward the loft, Stiles putting the Jeep into gear and pulling off in the opposite direction.

The rest of the day happened in a whirlwind, coming to a screeching halt as you rounded the last set of stairs up to the loft.
You heard a scuffle, then suddenly the loft seemed to emit what looked like lightning. The twins left Jennifer by the door and walked inside, their footsteps sounding like they were walking through water. Isaac quickly leapt to Jennifer’s side and held her close.
You slowly approached the door, feeling as if you weren’t really living what you were seeing. To your horror, you heard Kali yell something, the twins sloshing around to grab Derek and force him into submission like a disobedient puppy. They forced his claws to stay extended, and Kali lifted Boyd up and onto them, the only noise a soft groan as his abdomen was pierced.
You saw Derek break. You felt it.
Kali said something, you weren’t paying attention, and she exited the loft with the twins, stopping and rolling her eyes when she had to step around you because you wouldn’t move. You couldn’t. Your feet were rooted to the spot. You stared at the twins as they passed you in the hall with a sneer. Keeping your head high, eyes narrowed at them, you waited until they were down several flights of stairs before you let out the breath you were holding.
A small smirk worked its way up your face knowing you’d gotten under the Alpha Pack’s skin, but it quickly vanished as you looked back up and to the loft doorway, where Isaac held a terrified looking Jennifer.
Even if she was lying about everything, she sure played the distress convincingly. Enough that you doubted some of what you knew to be true.
He met your gaze over her head, gently shaking his head to tell you what was waiting in the loft wasn’t good.
Boyd and Derek were exchanging some faint conversation, and while you wanted to rush and help, the moment felt special, almost sacred, and you didn’t want to break that.
Only moments later Boyd fell to the floor, and you heard no heartbeat from your fallen friend. A single tear slipped down your cheek, and you turned your gaze to Derek to see him staring at his hands as they shook in front of him.
Stiles, Lydia, and Cora all rushed past you, Lydia hovering in the doorway. Brushing past Jennifer and Isaac on the threshold of the loft, you stilled once again a few steps in at the scene you were met with.
Cora lay sobbing over Boyd’s body. Derek knelt right beside him, his hands covered in blood and held in front of him as if he didn’t recognize them as his own, or didn’t want to. Stiles was behind Derek, hand on his shoulder in comfort. No words were exchanged, the only sounds were Cora sobbing, Derek’s ragged breathing, and the water covering the loft floor lapping at any movement.
As if he could sense you, Derek snapped his head your way, looking you over from the ground up as if to make sure you were okay, before landing on your eyes and finally holding your gaze firmly. Something swirled in his eyes, something you hadn’t seen in months, since before you were turned.
You had been a long term resident of Beacon Hills and had met the Hale family on several occasions growing up, enough to know when Peter was scheming and to know Derek’s wide array of moods. This is one you’d only seen once before the fire, and anytime after when the fire was brought up.
Pain. Failure. Loss. A swirl of grief stared up at you with blood stained hands.
And without exchanging a word, you walked around behind him, putting a hand on his other shoulder, mirroring Stiles to your side. Slowly you knelt in front of him, careful to keep your hand on his shoulder, and brought your other hand up to his cheek. Purposely putting yourself between him and Boyd, and his grieving sister, you needed him to focus on one thing at a time before it all became too much.
Reaching down with both your hands, you took hold of his, and he flinched, trying to pull them back, but you held on tightly.
“Derek,” you whispered, not trusting your own voice.
His eyes went from the floor to staring at his hands again, and finally up to you. And when he met your gaze again, you almost broke completely. But you couldn’t.
So much pain and death and in general horrible things happened around him, no matter how he tried to do the opposite. People literally used his hands to kill someone else. And despite how hard he fought, and went against everything bad, he was still the one made to take the fall.
“Derek, this isn’t your fault.” Your voice was breaking with emotion, you didn’t trust it more than the small sound it currently offered. “It was Kali and the others. You fought. You fought trying to protect them, protect everyone, and you almost did, but they played dirty.” Giving his hands a tight squeeze, you pulled them closer to your chest and saw the hesitance in his eyes. Slowly lifting them up to sit on your shoulders, you placed your hands firmly on top of his, rubbing his knuckles with your thumbs.
Smiling cautiously, you held his gaze. “See? There’s nothing to be afraid of. Those same hands that won’t kill a spider for me are right here.” He smiled gently at the remark, and you let yourself return it. “These hands did not kill Boyd, Kali’s did.” You swallowed thickly, feeling the lump of unshed tears growing in your throat. “Now, I need you to do something for me.” His eyes darted all over your face, before holding your gaze once again with a gentle nod. “First, we have to take care of Boyd. We’ll put him by Erica? I think he would like that.” Derek nodded again after a moment of hesitation. “You know his ghost would haunt us if we didn’t.” Everyone in the pack let out a little laugh in agreement, letting tears fall unabashedly.
Pulling his hands down into the water that filled the loft, you rinsed them gently to remove the blood as best you could, speaking after a moment as you did so. “Then, after a proper send off, we need to get the water out of this loft. I have no idea how, but until then you should go stay with Peter in his apartment.”
“He can stay with me,” Jennifer offered.
Going rigid at the sound of her voice, you turned almost mechanically her way. You’d forgotten she was even here. Keeping your voice a monotone, you looked her dead in the eyes as you spoke. “I think it’s best that he’s with family right now.”
“I’ll make sure he gets there,” Cora said from behind you, sniffing loudly as her tears calmed down for the moment.
Looking over your shoulder, you smiled at her in thanks.
She returned the gesture. “I might even stay, myself. Family time, however dysfunctional, sounds nice.” You didn’t miss the way she eyed Jennifer with mild disdain, and Derek with unabashed concern.
Turning back to Derek, looking down to see his hands now clean, you turned your grip in them to hold them, fingers interlaced tightly with his, and a smirk rising on your face. “Then, this last part I know you’ll love - revenge. After we take care of Boyd, then the loft, then we plot our revenge, and get justice for our friends and everyone else they have made suffer.” Leaning in close to his face, you whispered, “And that includes you.” Giving his hands a final squeeze, you rose to your feet, pulling him with you.
Despite everything, you saw a glimmer of the old Derek shining through, and it was enough to give you hope again. That maybe Jennifer hadn’t totally brainwashed him. And she wouldn’t. Not if you could help it.

Pulling up in front of the Stilinski house yet again, you sat in silence as Stiles put the Jeep in park, turned off the engine, and just stared out the front windshield blankly without saying a word.
You eyed him from the passenger seat, the silence tense, and the small popping sounds of the engine as it cooled down nearly made you jump each time. Steeling your resolve, you reached a hand over to place on Stiles’ forearm. He flinched gently away, but allowed the gesture with a sigh, placing his other hand firmly over yours with a soft pat. “It’ll be okay, Stiles. This sucks, I know, but we have to be there for each other. I lost him, too. Don’t shut me out.” You choked on the sadness that had been building in your throat, swallowing the small lump down, daring it to break you. You could only manage a small, wavering whisper after that. “Don’t you dare, Stiles.”
Patting your hand once again, Stiles smiled tightly, his voice heavily sarcastic. “Yeah, it’ll be okay, Y/N. We’ll be fine. I’ll just add it to my list of trauma from this week and move on. Sound good? Okay.”
Pulling away from your grasp, he opened the door and got out of the car, slamming it shut behind him. The action was so violent for Stiles, it made you jump.
He had only gotten this way a few times in the years you had known him, one of those being when his mom died. It was never easy to watch, and sometimes harder to handle, but grief had a way of doing that. And you weren’t about to let grief dictate this evening. At least, not anymore than it already had.
Climbing out of the Jeep slowly, shutting the door quietly, you followed your friend to where he held the front door open for you, his face a tight line, his gaze downcast and far away.
He gestured you through with a stilted motion, but you stood at the bottom of the steps looking up at him. Shifting your weight side to side, the squelching sound of your waterlogged shoes finally became too much in the awkward silence, so you reached down and slipped them off, holding them limply at your side on the tips of your fingers.
You’re not sure how long you both stood there, but it felt like an eternity before Stiles finally took in a sharp breath. “Are you ever going to come in?”
“After we have talked.”
“We can talk inside just fine.”
“You can distract yourself inside just fine.” Stiles let out a loud breath through his nose, looking away from you again. “We need to talk first.”
He let go of the handle and took the few steps down to where you were. “Look, I know what you’re doing, and I appreciate it, I really do. But we can’t talk about this out here, for a multitude of reasons.”
“So what if someone hears us?” Stiles scoffed disbelievingly. “In case you haven’t noticed, werewolves are kinda in right now. We might just become the popular kids.”
Stiles smiled despite himself, plastering his hand over your mouth. “You mean you would finally be popular. I would still be the skinny kid full of sarcastic jokes who follows you around.” You went to speak, but he wouldn’t remove his hand. “And that’s okay with me. Times like tonight, that’s just what Derek needed, a friend. Not someone with a supernatural agenda, not pity, or someone picking up on chemo signals or whatever. He just needed a hand on his shoulder to ground him, one not covered in blood, which, no offense, all of you seem to have at this point for some reason or another.”
Rain drops started to hit the top of your heads, and you looked up, blinking once or twice as it pelted your face.
“Plus, it’s raining, so……”
Stiles smirked, removing his hand, and went inside, one arm still outstretched on the handle as he waited for you, a sly grin on his face this time, his eyes meeting yours. Despite the facade, you saw his pain; tonight would haunt him for a while. Stepping up and inside, Stiles mumbled a “thank you” as you passed over the threshold past him and went directly up to his room.
“My dad is at work tonight, so we have the place to ourselves.”
“What are you suggesting?” You playfully wiggled your eyebrows. “I mean, I know grief can make you do some weird things, but…..”
Stiles held up a hand, shut his eyes, and shuddered violently. “Don’t ever-” he made a fake gagging noise- “joke about that again. I don’t need nightmares, thank you very much. I’m very successful at them on my own.”
You chuckled.
“What do you think Boyd and Erica would have to say to this situation?” You smiled ruefully, absently adjusting a pillow on Stiles’ bed.
“Oh, they wouldn’t let us hear the end of it. How we joked about it, and also, how disgusted they were at the thought of it.” He looked thoughtful for a second. “It might actually be the first thing we would agree on, come to think of it.”
Your jaw dropped, and you threw the pillow at him, which he caught with a chuckle. “You know I’m right.”
“You don’t have to be mean about it.” You cast your eyes to the side, eyeing the floor, before you flopped in the center on his bed. “You can sleep on the floor, asshole.”
“It’s my bed,” he argued.
“It’s your punishment,” you shot back.
Both of you were still in your soaked clothes, but he didn’t seem to mind. Grabbing a pair of PJs you had set out earlier in the day, he pelted them at you, hitting you square in the face. “Nice reflexes, wolf girl. Go change.”
Mocking his words in a ridiculous voice, you went to the bathroom to change, hearing him do the same, hopping around trying to get his soaked sneakers off, before he must have succeeded, only to whack himself somehow because he muttered an “ow” after a soft thud.
Walking out with your hands over your eyes, you asked, “Is it safe?” before opening them just a crack to peek with a smirk.
“Hardy, har,” he said sarcastically.
You launched back onto the bed, ready to relax, when Stiles pounced beside you and wrapped you up tight in his arms, holding your back to his chest. After the initial comfort sunk in, so did the events of the day.
“I can’t believe he’s really gone,” you said quietly.
“It was a really shitty move,” he agreed.
Finally letting your tears fall, they raced silent tracks across your face and onto the pillow. You felt a dampness growing on your shoulder, Stiles’ shaking behind you as he too tried to be strong, not wanting to let it out.
Once it started, it wouldn’t stop, and you knew to Stiles that meant having to take a moment and be still, which let everything else catch up to you that you did your best to run from.
Placing your hand on top of his that rested on your abdomen, you threaded your fingers with his and clutched his hand tight, letting him know he wasn’t facing it alone. Any of it.
Giving your hand a squeeze in return, a single sob came through, and it was all you could do not to match it. But you knew he needed to get out just enough to take the edge off the pain before he bottled it up for later. It wasn’t healthy, but it was how he processed things, and that was enough for you to let him. You’d be there for the fallout later.
He sniffed loudly, cleared his throat, then rested his mouth over the damp spot on your shirt. After a few moments of silence, he mumbled into your shoulder, “Sorry about your shirt.”
You chuckled, swiping at your tears with your free hand and feeling him smile into the fabric where he stayed. “It’s okay, Stiles. Sorry about your pillow.”
This time he laughed softly, the sound making you grin.
“Please stay in here tonight. I don’t think I’ll be able to sleep if I’m by myself. Too much going on in here.” He gently rocked his head back and forth where it still sat on your shoulder to indicate his troubled mind.
“Wouldn’t dream of it,” you said, realizing your pun when Stiles groaned and moved his forehead to the spot on your shirt, making you giggle.
“Your jokes are the absolute worst.”
“It wasn’t intentional!”
“That’s worse!” he cried, lifting his head up to make eye contact with you as you grinned over your shoulder.
Reaching up with your free hand, you wiped away the straggling tears. His eyes bloodshot, you caught a single stray tear that escaped on the top of your thumb. Pulling it back, you smiled sadly as you stared at the tip of your finger. “Say, ‘goodnight, Boyd’.”
Stiles side eyed you.
“Whenever I was sad as a kid, my parents would wipe away my tears and tell me to say goodbye to my worries as they dried away, and to blow them away like an eyelash. I dunno. They are weird people, how do you think I came to be this way? Stop looking at me like that.”
“Goodnight, Boyd,” Stiles whispered, before blowing the tear away.
Settling into the quiet, Stiles still held you close before he spoke quietly, a smile in his voice. “Did I ever tell you about the time Boyd got us the keys to the ice rink?”
“No….”
“Or when there was a werewolf smack down on the rink while Boyd was on the…. the…. the thing that smooths over the ice?”
“No!” You laughed.
“Too bad. He was a cool dude.”
“Yeah, he was.” You smiled. “I want to know these stories, now!”
“Tomorrow, Y/N. We already said goodnight, remember? Weirdo.”

Complete transcript of the Wonderland interview, by Catherine Santino, below the cut :)
In 1993, the year in which Freeform’s new thriller series Cruel Summer opens, actor Froy Gutierrez was yet to be born. Chat rooms and beepers, just two of the symbols of 90’s culture featured in the show, were absent in Gutierrez's own childhood. Instead, the 22 year old grew up among the endless, glowing feeds of social media — and the inevitable pressures that they create.
“There’s a kind of self-awareness that comes from growing up with the internet, which everyone in our cast did,” Gutierrez, who stars in the upcoming series, tells me over Zoom — his boyish charm tangible across the screen. “We’re all technically Gen Z or like, older Gen Z. And so you have to unburden yourself from curating a persona online.”
Due to the dizzying evolution of technology in the past two decades, Gutierrez and I had drastically different experiences with the internet growing up — even though he’s only seven years my junior. I fondly remember a time without the prevalence of social media, while Gutierrez was born into an era where internet presence was not only common, but expected.
Like most of Gutierrez’s peers, the actor was active on social media from a young age, but his presence has quietened over the years — even with 1.7 million instagram followers. “If there’s a general consensus on the internet of a certain readership or viewership, you know about it, because people tweet about it directly to you,'' he says. “There’s a kind of lumping in of the character you’re playing with who you are, that people do. I don’t know if it’s intentional. It’s probably just a human thing, but that happens. And it can be hard not to internalize what you read about yourself, you know? Words have power.”
In 2017, Gutierrez appeared on supernatural MTV drama Teen Wolf, a show with a massive internet fandom. Suddenly, fan theories and commentaries about his character, Nolan Holloway, came in droves, something that the young actor wasn’t necessarily prepared for. “I was still a teenager,” he says. “Around that time, you're an adult, but you’re still figuring things out. So I learned where to set my boundaries because I didn’t know where they were beforehand.”
When Cruel Summer came around, Gutierrez assumed he would be portraying the “desirable young male” he was used to auditioning for. “The first time I read the character, it definitely felt like an archetype. When I auditioned for it, I walked in and was very much myself, and Michelle Purple and Jessica Biel responded very well to it.” However, after he got the role and production ramped up, he was pleasantly surprised. “It didn’t really hit me that they were wanting to take him in such a unique direction until I showed up for wardrobe one day to do my first fitting for the pilot,” Gutierrez recalls. “I looked at the mood board for Jamie and it was like, young Heath Ledger, Keanu Reeves and Kurt Cobain. And I was like ‘Oh shit, I need to step my game up,’” he laughs. “I couldn’t get by doing the same thing that I’ve always done when it comes to characters like that.”
Cruel Summer takes place over the course of three years — ‘93, ‘94, and ‘95 — showing splices of each year in every episode. Produced by Jessica Biel, Tia Napolitano, and Michelle Purple, it centres around the kidnapping of a teenage girl and the fallout of the crime in her community in Skylin, Texas. Gutierrez plays Jamie Henson, the boyfriend of the missing girl, Kate. In her absence, a quiet nerd named Jeanette suddenly rises the social ranks and assumes Kate’s place — including dating Jamie. When Kate returns, Jeanette is suspected to be involved in her disappearance, throwing Jamie into some seriously challenging circumstances. His character could easily be a one-dimensional archetype — and truthfully, I expected him to be — but Cruel Summer took the opportunity to explore toxic masculinity and its widespread impact.
We see Jamie caught in the middle of conflict, unsure how to respond to a traumatic event that certainly no teenager expects to be faced with. He’s not a hero, but he’s not a villain either. It’s unclear whether we’re supposed to root for Jamie or not, which makes him that much more interesting to watch. “He talks a lot about his desire to protect the people around him, regardless of whether or not they asked him to protect them,” Gutierrez says of his character. “He kind of superimposes his own idea of what the people around him need. In order to maintain the peace of the people around him, he kind of robs the people around him of their agency. It’s just a really fascinating character to play in that way.”
Gutierrez has also been able to explore the ethics of true crime in a time when the genre is exploding in popularity. Though Cruel Summer is fictional, it questions the effect that public opinion can have on criminal cases — and perhaps more importantly — the well-being of the people involved. “When it comes to the investigation of a crime, you have to weigh the good it can bring into the world versus the bad it can bring. Or making one person seem suspect, or airing the dirty laundry of a private citizen for the viewership of loads of people.”
Despite his eloquent reflections on Jamie throughout our conversation, it’s clear that Gutierrez doesn’t take himself too seriously. He speaks into the camera like we’re old friends on FaceTime, and when my dog unexpectedly jumps into my frame, he gushes excitedly and asks what her name is. He’s able to laugh at himself one minute and share poignant truths the next. It’s refreshing, much like Cruel Summer.
Another likely contributor to the show’s authenticity? The fact that the cast was kept in the dark when it came to overarching plot points. Instead of knowing the show’s trajectory ahead of time, the actors would receive scripts for the next episode while they were filming — and they were subject to change. “We didn’t know where it was going,” Gutierrez says. “And we were told, “‘This might happen here, or this might happen there.’ And it would shift around.”
Without foresight into their character’s arc, the actors have no choice but to focus only on where they were in that moment — a difficult task when a single episode spans three very different years. Gutierrez faced an even greater challenge, as, unlike the two female leads, his character didn’t undergo any drastic physical transformations over the three years.
“I didn’t really compartmentalise the character,” he explains. “I kind of thought of the different years as different phases in my own life. The first year, ‘93, was a complete absence of any regret. You’re still very young, I was just thinking of like, a complete golden retriever,” he laughs. “A 16-year old boy who just wants the best and isn’t aware. ‘94 is me right before I made the decision to go to therapy, where I was making all these bad decisions and I didn’t know why. And then ‘95 was a whole desire to wrestle with those things and really look at yourself in the mirror and take accountability.”
Gutierrez didn’t only infuse personal experience into his behind-the-scenes work — some aspects made it onto the screen. The actor, whose father is Mexican, grew up spending time between Mexico and Texas and is a native Spanish speaker. Because Cruel Summer is set in Texas, Gutierrez suggested creating a similar background for Jamie.
“I was talking with Tia Napolitano, the show-runner, and I was like, ‘Hey, you know what would be really cool? What if the character is half-Mexican, too?’” Gutierrez says. “And she's like, ‘Oh, yeah, let’s write it in the script.’ And I got to write a couple lines in Spanish, which is really cool. [Jamie] could have been this mould of a cool, likeable jock. And then he ended up being this very nuanced human being, which is awesome.”
Though he is learning to appreciate all parts of his heritage, Gutierrez hasn’t always embraced his identity. “I remember feeling like I might have been not American enough for America, and not Mexican enough for Mexico,” he says. “And I remember having a bit of time in which I had an accent in both languages. Even my name — in Mexico I always went by ‘Froylan’, which is my full name. And then in the U.S., I went by Froy, because I thought it would be easier for other people to say.”
He continues: “I identify as Latino, but I”m also very wary of auditioning for Latino roles because I’m aware I don’t look like a typical Latino person. I don’t want to be someone that you can just sub in for that role, when I’m really white and blonde. And so whenever I do get a role like this, one where he’s not written to be any particular direction and we’re able to collaborate, I’m able to inject some of myself in there. So it’s been really cool to embrace all sides of my history.”
But of course, as is true for Gutierrez, Jamie’s cultural background is only a small part of who he is. Cruel Summer is committed to portraying him as a nuanced character that breaks the moulds of masculinity while tackling complex inner conflict. “Living in his shoes and walking in them, a big question that came up for me was, ‘What is the difference between guilt and shame? [Jamie]’s coping mechanism was terrible and unhealthy, and caused more pain for the people around him. But at the same time, the shame that he internalized made it worse for him. One thing I really learned, is that shame is about yourself and beating yourself up. And guilt is about taking accountability and apologising, moving forward without expecting the relationship to come back. It's just about trying to heal what happened and then moving on, on the terms that the other person sets. It’s not about you, and I think that’s what the character learns throughout the show.”

The Smell of Plum Blossom Tea Ch 7
Summary: Just like a butterfly wing, a single act of kindness can change the course of the future, it certainly did for MK as a black-furred monkey put out a hand towards him
Rating: Teen and up
Chapter 7: Hero Born From The Shadows
“Selfie!” Mei posed as she took a picture of herself once she won the race.
“Mei!” MK excitedly said as he laid down flat on the ground with his arms raised high.
“MK!” She cheerfully picked him up, “Man that was one wicked race!”
“We almost died,” he weakly said.
“That’s life!” She joked, not understanding he was serious, “now how about we play some Monkey Mech! You can even invite your friend over!”
“Mei, he tried to kill me,” he said once more.
“Okay in that case,” she took out her phone and had an eerie red button right on the screen as she said with a wide smile that promised retribution, “Where does he live?”
“MK WHAT ARE YOU DOING!”
“HAHAHAHAHAHA!!” The trio yelled in laughter at MK's joke.
“I’m not kidding!” He jumped up and down as he carried the staff, “this is the Monkey King Staff! I’ll prove it to you!”
“Okay, how?” Piggy crossed his arms.
“Ummm,” MK held the staff closer to his chest as he began to nervously play with it, when suddenly it retreated inward then suddenly extended all the way to the table Tang and Mei was sitting at and crushed it.
There was a silence as the unbelievable just happen then Tang wildly sputtered out.
“HUBABABABABA Monkey King staff!” He rushed over to MK arm that was carrying the staff and held it up high, “I knew it all along! It is the legendary staff that was used to seal away evil!” Then he paused as he realized the implications and looked to MK, “wait a minute, why do you have it?”
“Okay I’ll bite, if the staff is here, where is the Demon punk now?” Pigsy questioned as he was still iffy on this entire thing.
“He’s at the shoe store,” Mei cheerily stated.
“What?” They all walk to Mei with her phone out.
“This better not be one of your dog videos.” He can’t even tell how many times she shoved that phone in his face when she was coping at that drooling menace.
“Ha! There’s always time for a puppy video, but no he’s trending,” she showed them a picture of a large Bull demon and a familiar flame head boy, “like #DemonBullKing.”
“Holy shit, this ain’t no joke,” Pigsy jaw dropped.
“What do we do?” Tang hesitantly asked
“…I have to go to Flower Fruit Mountain,” they all turned to look at MK. “If the only one who was able to stop the Demon Bull King was Monkey King then I need to go there.”
“Are you hearing yourself?” Pigsy stomped over to him, “we’re talking about a mountain that is surrounded by fuck tons of dangers. Have you not heard of the flaming mountains? It’s the reason why no one has been able to get close to the mountain in the first place?”
“Then what are we supposed to do?!” MK took a step forward, “Monkey King is the only one who is able to stop Bull King back then and the only one now.”
Mei opened her mouth to say something, but decided to close it and just wait.
“Kid look I know this is all a bit scary, but why do you think that you have to do this?”
“Well I have the staff and I can carry it, for some reason,” he whispered the last part then he put on a more determined face, “but more importantly someone needs to.”
Pigsy stared him down as the boy did the same, then the pig demon sighed as he picked up his car keys “Everyone go to the car, it seems we’re taking a trip.”
“Yes!/Roadtrip!/Flower Fruit Mountain!” The trio of humans all cheered as they made their way out, though Mei did slow her steps so that she could match MK.
“So when is Mackie getting here,” she abruptly said.
“Huh?”
“I mean he must have definitely heard your screams by now and I’m not even including the sounds of terror that everyone must be doing right now. We both know that he would already be on his way,” she added.
“Oh, um actually funny thing. He is currently not anywhere near the city right now,” he wilted at Mei’s dumbfounded look.
“What.”
“Yeahhhh he had a call for a medical emergency and he is kinda days away from here,” he scratched the back of his neck.
“Oh my god, talk about bad timing,” she dragged her hand over her face, “well you should definitely call him and let him know what’s up.”
“…you know, I was thinking that maybe, and hear me out here, maybe we don’t call him,” he squeaked out.
“MK I love you like a brother, but what kind of nonsense are you saying,” she stopped the two of them and put her hands on his shoulder. “We’re talking about the same crazy brain worry of an immortal demon monkey that would fret over every last injury if you let him and you're telling me you're not even gonna say anything?!”
“I mean we can wait until he gets back, I just don’t want to bother him when he’s working.”
“But it’s even worse when you don’t say anything! MK you have to-,” she was cut off by Pigsy yells.
“Hurry it up you two! Fate of the world and everything!”
“Oh well looks like we got to go,” MK hurried out of her grasp and quickly went to the car.
“This is not over!” She yelled as she chased after him.
“Lalala! I can’t hear you!”
“Save it for the road,” the pig demon called out.
“Where exactly are we going anyway?” Tang asked, “Can’t exactly get to Flower Fruit mountain by car.”
“I know a guy who can help us out, he is one of the meanest, toughest demons that I have ever met. If anyone can help us get there it’s him.”
Pigsy was lying on the ground in total defeat as everyone was all sitting in Sandy's living room as the big bad demon happily talked about some of his relaxing hobbies and activities.
“He sure is tough,” Tang smirked as he sipped his tea.
“Shut up,” moaned the demon.
Sandy stopped in the middle of his talk when he felt a small tap on his hip as the small pigtail girl began to beg with glistening eyes.
“Oh great Sandy sir, we could really use your help getting to Flower Fruit mountain,” she clasped her hands together.
MK quickly joined her as he went on his knees and began to plead, “please, the fate of the world depends on it.”
“Okay,” he nonchalantly said.
“Really/That was easy,” both teenagers questioned.
“Anything for Pigsy and Mac. I can get you there, but it ain’t a pleasant trip.”
“Yes! Yes! Yes! Yes!” They cheered as they jumped around, but stopped in midair as what he said fully hit them. “Wait, you know Dad/Fuzzbutt?”
“Yeah, we have tea together sometimes,” the gentle giant smiled.
“Dad has a tea time buddy?” MK blinked a few times.
“Honestly not the most surprising thing about him,” Mei added. “He regularly hangs with Ní when he wants to take a nap.”
“…I hope they're going to be okay,” MK said as he thought back to all of the animals, creatures, and demons living in the forest. “I’m a bit worried.”
The twenty year old girl snorted, “I’m not, have you seen them? They can tear down groves of trees because they couldn’t share their favorite tree.”
“True,” not only the demons or creatures, but also the animals know how to put up a fight. He even once saw a chipmunk bite off the finger of a hunter before.
“Besides they have BaBa and ain’t no thing or demon is going through her,” she said in complete certainty.
“Yeahhh, she's pretty awesome.”
“Alright let’s get moving,” Sandy said as the two talked to one another. Then he looked towards Pigsy, “I’m telling you now old friend, if things get hairy I’m not the same demon as I was before. I don’t go around picking fights.”
“…ahhh, things have changed haven’t they,” he sighed, “We seriously need to have a talk later.”
“Speaking of talk, has anyone told Macaque about this?” The historian raised his eyebrow.
The two stop short as the pig demon slightly blanches as he whispers out loud, “hold shit, Mac is gonna kill me for bringing his kids into this.”
“Don’t think like that,” Sandy tried to comfort him, “I’m sure that he will be perfectly reasonable about all of this once we explain what went down.”
“Oh he’s not gonna kill us,” Tang said as he slowly began to get color back on his skin.
“Yeah, you're right-.”
“He’s gonna kill the Demon Bull King,” he bluntly said.
“…,” Pigsy had no words for that.
“Oh yeah, yeah he might be a tad bit angrier with him,” Sandy nodded. “Well let’s get this show on the road, Mo initiate the launch sequence!”
“Launch?!” They all questioned as they saw a blue bat leap up from his shoulder and next to the wheel where a big red button was and the car happily pressed it.
Everyone was startled as the whole ship began to shake and various noises rang out, they all ran outside to see that the ship was now supporting a few new features, one of them being three large turbo boosters.
“Onwards to Flower Fruit mountain! Sandy called out as then the ship took out in a flash as they sped across the ocean.
“Oh yeahhhh!”
“Thank you so much for your help,” the Panda demon bowed lowly as the rest of his students did the same, “without your aid, I feared they all may have not survived.”
“Yeah, I thought that I was holding Yama's hands for a second there,” a crane, one of the students, joked.
“Just try not to take on anymore poisonous elephant demons for a bit, I rather not have to come back here and do this all over again,” Mac said as he adjusted his hold on his bag.
“Oh believe me, we won’t,” a tiger demon nodded.
“Whatever happened to him anyway?” a hippo student asked.
“He won’t be bothering us anymore,” they all look down to see the sheep demon smile at her friend’s serenely.
“W-what does that mean?”
“He won’t be bothering us anymore,” she repeated herself with the same tone.
“I’m not touching that with a ten foot pole,” the tiger muttered under his breath.
“I still can’t believe that people still think that’s she the harmless one,” a large dark wolf said as the rest of them nodded.
“It’s kinda hilarious,” the monkey smirked, he still remembered walking in on her, when he used to make deliveries, and saw her standing on top of a pile of unconscious demons. “Well, I have to head out now.”
“I wish you safe travels on your journey back,” Po smiled.
“Thanks, hopefully my kiddos didn’t get into too much trouble.”
“Have some faith in them, I’m sure they are just fine.”
“AHHH!” They all screamed as they scattered away from the fireball heading towards them.
Luckily, both MK and Mei managed to nimbly land on their feet despite the surprise attack, Pigsy was less than lucky as he fell on his back.
“Pigsy!” They yelled out and helped him up.
“Hahaha,” the wind demon lightly chuckled as she held out her hand, “I’ll be taking that staff now.”
The teenagers got into position as they glared at her, “this belongs to the Monkey King, there is no way you’ll take it!”
“Awww, playing to be a hero, sorry to disappoint but playtime is over.”
Mei and MK looked at one another and without words being shared they split off onto either side running.
“Kids!” Pigsy worriedly cried out as he tried to follow after them, but was stopped by a burst of lava emerging from the cracks.
“Aww, cute,” Princess Iron Fan smirked as she kept her eyes solely on the staff, “you think you stand a chance.” Then her eyes widened as she felt a small aura behind her and she quickly used the wind to push it back, it did little as she dodged a blow to her head.
“Ha! You call that wind? I know a vulture that can easily surpass that for her morning fly,” Mei mocked as she began to swipe at the demon with her sword.
“Little girl, you know not of what-,” she quickly dropped down as she felt a small gust of wind aimed towards her and she was only grateful that she did as she saw that Sun Wukong staff was aimed at her head.
“Don't you dare underestimate us!” MK yelled out as he backed up.
“You little-!” She winced as she felt a blow to her side.
“Should have kept your eyes on me bitch,” Mei grinned as she drew her glowing sword back and went for another.
“That’s enough,” she calmly said, though if one were to look carefully they would see that her fists were curled up in a ball as her eyes glowed a dull red. She then held out her hand, which transformed into the same glove that removed the staff, to block the staff aimed towards her.
“What?” That was all MK could say before he was blown back far away past the mountain.
“AHHHHHHHH!”
“No MK!” Mei screamed with tears in her eyes, not noticing a certain demon freeze up at the name, as she attempted to follow her brother.
“Mei, we got to go,” Pigsy choked out as he rushed to her and picked her up to run as the teenager struggled over his shoulder. “I’m sorry kid.”
Princess Iron Fan was silent as she looked to the two mortals running away from her then to the ocean where she blew the child mortal away. She said nothing as she tightly gripped the staff in hand then vanished away, she needed to go to her husband after all.
The boat was silent as it gently floated along the ocean as the remaining occupants tried to swallow what just happened.
“I’m sorry MK,” Pigsy whispered out as he looked down to the clear water, he didn’t even flinch when a familiar hand touched his shoulder.
“Pigsy,” Sandy quietly said.
“There was nothing we could do,” Tang said with his back turned.
“Nothing? Nothing! I could have done something!” Pigsy marched over to the human with rage as he grabbed his shoulder to see Tang's sorrowful face, “I could have-I should have protected MK! I made a promise to not only Mac but to myself that I would! And now…,” he trailed off as his whole body went slack and let go of his scarf. “It’s over, there is nothing we can do.”
“It’s not over,” he turned up with tears in his eyes to look at his friend, “MK may be lost, but we can make sure no more lives are lost. Make sure that his sacrifice wasn’t in vain.”
Pigsy could only nod as he wiped the tears in his eyes as Sandy put a comforting hand on his shoulder.
“Someone has to pay,” the trio looked over to Mei who hadn’t said a word till now. “Someone has to fight.”
“Mei?”
She quickly wiped her face as she continued with her backs to them, “that demon bitch is going to,” she turned around with a forced smile on her face as they all felt an ominous presence among them as lighting and thunder roared in fury, “pay.”
They all nodded as a determination filled them all as they mentally and physically got prepared for the battle arising.
Mei looked out to the ocean once more and gripped the rails tightly.
‘I’m so sorry I couldn’t save you MK, but I’ll make damn sure we’ll end this. This is for you…by the gods how am I gonna tell Makkie?’
“Ugghhh,” MK moaned out as he slowly came to consciousness, he felt two furry hands in his hair even with his eyes still closed. “Just five more minutes Dad.”
“Ooo?”
His eyes snap open as he realized that this wasn’t his Dad as he awoke to a white furred monkey standing on top of his stomach, “uhh hi?”
The monkey tilts his head.
MK gives a small smile as he remembers the times when a monkey back home would climb onto him, “this feels familiar.”
The monkey eyes then glint as several more appear with the same glint.
His face falls, “nevermind this seems more familiar,” he says as he quickly rolls over from the monkeys’ attack and stands up.
All of them looked over to him and it looked like they were about to give chase before they paused and tilted their head as they recognized a familiar smell on him, but then they saw him stand up so that thought exited quickly as they all scurried off.
“I swear, what is with monkeys and my hair,” he grumbled as he then turned to see the ocean in front of him with the volcanic plain just bordering.
“Wha-gha!” He clutched his head as memories of what happened travel all throughout his head. “Right, that…where am-,” he cut himself off as he turned around to see a beautiful mountain towering above him.
“Flower Fruit mountain.”
He gazed at it for a few moments before he got his hearing back and began to rush to the mountain.
“Hello! Monkey King!? You in here!?” He called out as he stepped into the magical cave inside the magic waterfall, which also held magical drawings that came to life. “Can really use your help? Things aren’t looking good!”
He stopped as he waited for an answer, but as he stood there, nothing replied back. It was only him and a small house in front of him.
“GHA!” He kicked over a rock in frustration as he began to look around. He was not about to give up that easily though he did pause when a small butterfly approached him and landed on his nose. “At least someone here,” he jokingly said with a small smile.
“Yep I am!” It replied.
“AH!” He screamed as he flailed his arms at the unexpected response.
“Yes yes it is I,” the butterfly said once more as it fluttered to the ground, “the great monkey-oof!”
“Is it dead?” He questioned as he slowly lifted his foot, he was not about to take any chances, especially not with what happened last time he met with a small talking bug. He and Tang can still feel the icky grossness crawling up their spines, they can never unfeel what has been felt.
Then the bug began to glow.
“What??”
It grew bigger, its form was fluid as it didn’t take shape at first, but then it transformed into a hawk then it soared high and landed as it tiger then the tiger began to stand on its legs as it transformed into a bear until finally, it transformed one last time into a monkey.
A very familiar monkey.
The first thought that entered MK's head when he saw the monkey was that he was taller than he expected him to be. In fact, he even thinks that he’s taller than his Dad.
The second thought was acknowledging that the Monkey King was standing right before him.
“Yep the one and only,” he stood tall as he looked around the room. “Sooo, where’s my staff?” He took a step back when he saw the kid's eyes well up with tears.
“I am so sorry!” He began his rant as he tried to explain what happened and how he messed up royally when he heard laughter.
“Look kid, I have to come clean,” he looked up to see that the Monkey King was kneeling as he put his hand on his shoulder. “I’ve been kinda watching you.”
“Huh?” Then his eyes widen as he remembers all the times he has seen the strange occurrences appear. “Wait what?!”
“Pfft! The look on your face is perfect!” He laughed out loud.
“Perfect for what?!” He was making absolutely no sense right now.
“To be my successor!” He started with a deep voice as he crossed both his arms.
“Uhhh what have you been drinking? Are you sure you’re the Monkey King? I think you may have a brief stint with insanity due to the isolation. I have some herbal remedies that can help with that,” he poked and prodded at the monkey. He felt a tail wrap around him and place him down, he had to stop the sudden urge of twisting the tail hard to let him go, he still remembers all the times Dad did it to him during training. He flew so high up.
“Listen kid, you fought demons and you didn’t die,” he casually said as he opened a bag of chips. “And you made it here, not anyone can lift my staff, but you did.”
“But what about DBK?” He urged him.
“Pfft, what about him,” he summoned his cloud as he laid on it while eating said chips, “you can handle it.”
A small part of MK really wanted to throttle the Monkey King at that moment, but his desperation and anxiety outweighed his irritation as he stumbled upon his words, “but I-I can’t…ahhh.”
This made the monkey pause and he gave an exaggerated sigh as he walked over to the kid and put a comforting hand on his shoulder, “look if you can lift the staff you can use it. Just believe in yourself, even a smidge makes all the difference.”
MK looked up at him and gave a small smile, he may not have the best self-esteem, but he damn well is not gonna stop.
“Now then,” he dramatically began, “the staff was taken from you, take it back.”
MK's smile then turned into a wide toothy grin, “alright.”
Wukong gave a smile to his new successor, but something in the back of his mind nagged him that MK grin reminded of someone, but he can’t quite put his finger on it.
“Ughhhh,” laid a collapsed Red Son as he groaned in pain at the jet impact.
Everyone else was in shocked silence as they watch MK slowly crawl out of the wreckage.
“Man, that was worse than the time we tried swinging from the vines for the first time.”
“MK!” Mei rushed over to him and gave him the tightest hug, “I thought you were-you know and I saw you blast off in the fire, but you are here and alive! I am so glad I don’t have to tell fuzzbutt about your death. Wait, how'd you get a jet? Wait! Is Monkey King here?!”
“Well no, he said it’s up to me…us,” he smiled slightly at her.
“Well that was anticlimactic and sorta stupid,” she muttered the last part under her breath. Then they all felt the earth shake beneath them and looked up to see an oversized Demon Bull King.
“And how are we meant to fight that?” Tang incredulously called out the question on everyone's minds.
The teenager looked at the towering menace and back to his hands and gripped it tight as he pulled his hair into a tighter ponytail, “we believe in ourselves.”
BOOM!
The ground shook once more.
“…somehow.”
“A jet would have been nice right about now,” she mused as she kicked the pile of rubble. Then out of it slowly emerged a smaller, but still very cool looking, motorcycle.
“That will work!” He said as he hopped on the bike.
“Go get him buddy!” She cheered for him and he gave a quick nod before zooming off, leaving the rest of them behind.
“You know how I said before about Mac killing us and the Bull King,” Tang suddenly said.
“Wait what?” Mei raised an eyebrow at the absurd topic.
“Yeahhh?” Pigsy drawled out.
“Well I think we can safely assume that the Monkey King is now on that list.”
“Oh yeah/Most definitely,” both pink and blue demons respectively said as the pigtailed teenager couldn’t help but laugh.
“Fuccck that hurts,” he moaned out as he attempted to free himself from the rubble.
“You thought you could defeat me!” The Bull King laughed as he made his way towards the mortal. “I will not let a little thief take victory from my grasp.”
MK, who was panicking, quickly tried to find ways out of this, but then he heard a faint noise and looked up to see the arcade sign slightly glowing.
“Just believe in yourself, even a smidge makes all the difference,” he couldn’t help but think back to the Monkey King’s words, but there was also another.
“It will be hard, no doubt.” He heard his father's voice echo through his mind as the pain slowly subsided, “and at times it may seem like the whole world is against you, but know that you still have tomorrow waiting for you. So keep your head held high and look towards the stars, cause that right there is your limit starlight.”
And he does, he is looking past the arcade sign and looks towards the stars that make the faintest appearance among the darkening sky.
Only one thought was clear in his mind when those words combined as he slammed his staff down.
‘I can do this.’
Then an amalgamation of parts from various buildings, streets, and other places began to structure itself together to make a red and gold mech suit with a violet headband and cape.
“It’s time for your family to be brought to justice,” MK yelled out as he pushed the mech forward as he dived bomb down to the demon. “Here comes Monkie Kid!”
The giant staff impacted the demon with a loud burst of energy and sound.
BOOOOOMMMMM!
BOOOOOMMMMM!
Six ears suddenly perked up at the unexpected noise as the owner of said ears' eyes widened as that was coming from the same direction he was heading.
He picked up his pace.
“And I was all like, ‘I have to finish this once and for all’ and I started glowing!” MK excitedly said as he gobbled down another bowl of noodles.
“And then what!” Tang and Mei excitedly asked.
“And I cut a building in half and dropped it on him!”
“Coool!”
“I still can’t believe that happened,” Pigsy snorted as he ate his bowl, “scratch that I can’t believe that all of this happened.”
“I can, it just happened in front of our eyes,” Sandy joked.
“Seeing is believing…I guess,” he threw his hands in the air as he winced as he felt a sharp pain, “fuck.”
“Are you okay?” Tang had noticed Pigsy winces and went over to his side to examine.
“It’s nothing,” he muttered as he tried to focus on anything except the warm hands against his neck.
Sandy didn’t comment on just how fast Tang shot to the pig demon side and instead stood up, “I’m going to look behind back, you still keep your bandages underneath the second drawer?”
“Yeah, but I think I ran out,” he answered, “used it up when some maniac decided to throw water over the counter in a fit of anger and landed right on the handle of a boiling pot of water.”
“Yikes, well I can see what I can find.”
“You know at times like these I wish Mac was here,” Tang said as both Mei and MK nodded.
Boom
Everyone then jumped up at the sound of the door slamming open and turned to see the one and only Macaque looking at all of them with shock.
“What in the hell happened?!” He almost screamed out as when he first walked into the city he could hear the sounds of screams and destruction emitting everywhere. The scenery was no better as buildings collapsed, streets were uprooted, and people were all hiding or unconscious in various states. He rushed over to find his kid's heartbeat and then sighed in relief as he heard their voices and booked it over to them as fast as he could. Though before he could say anything else as he looked at their disbelieved, bruised, but still very much alive appearance before he could let a smile form, his eyes happened to lock onto a familiar bo staff in his son's hand.
“What the fuck?” He whispered out.
“Guess what Dad! I met the Monkey King!” MK excitedly said as he waved the staff around excitedly.
“What the fuck?” He said a little bit louder.
“And I’m the Monkey King successor!” He added on not knowing that the sentence almost gave Macaque psychic damage at the sheer revelation.
The monkey could only stare as he felt his eye twitch, he then took a deep breath to calm himself down, it did not work as well as he hoped. “What in the actual fuck did I miss?”
“Oh yeah, so the city totally got terrorized by the Demon Bull King and his family after the staff was pulled out, so we kicked some ass and MK here saved the day,” Mei proudly stated.
He can almost feel a migraine coming on as he began to rummage through his bag and brought out rolls of gauzes and various small bottles, “okay first, all of you sit your asses down and let me check the damage, and once that shit is over, you will tell me the what the fuck went down when I get a drink.”
“Plum Tea?” MK said.
“Gonna need something a little more stronger than that for this can of bullshit,” he whispered to himself. “By the gods what the actual fuck Wukong?”
“What you say?” Tang asked.
“I said sit your asses down!”
“Dad we’re all f-”
“Just by a glance I can see that some of you are suffering from some second degree burns, lacerations, bruises, and all types of other shit. So you either sit your asses down so I can fix you up or I will knock you unconscious and take it from there,” he threatened.
They all immediately sat down, even Sandy who plopped himself on the floor.
“I swear, can’t even leave for two weeks without shit happening,” he grumbled as he made multiple shadow clones to help make the process faster.
The moon shone high in the sky as many people were laid to rest. Some wounded, some crying, some joyful, some mourning, and some dead. No one still knew exactly what happened, but those thoughts could wait until tomorrow. For now, after the terror and agony they all suffered, it was time to close their eyes and let the nightmares encompass them or a blank passage of nothingness if they're lucky.
The same was said for the ones who helped stop the malicious terror that had once plagued the city, they all lay sleeping in a cozy apartment living room.
Sandy was happily snoring on the floor with Mo as he then was slightly lifted to place a pillow underneath him and a blanket draped over as well.
Tang and Pigsy were snuggled next to each other on the couch, with the pig demon head tucked underneath the human head, as another blanket dropped from above.
Finally, the youngest was curled up with one another, Mei having one arm around MK’s shoulder, leaning against the couch. Their loose blanket was brought back up as it was meticulously tucked then two furry hands softly ruffled both of their heads as they only slightly shifted.
Macaque looked at them with only sheer fondness as he fixed them up. Then his eyes narrowed and couldn't help but linger on their neatly wrapped bandages on both them and everyone else.
He made his way to the window.
“What happened today will not happen again,” the Bull King growled out as his body slowly healed itself. He is still not back to full strength yet, even when his powers had increased tremendously due to the no staff. After all, one couldn’t easily rise from the grave in full health without the assistance of miracle medicine.
“Of course it won’t, we were merely…unprepared after all,” Princess Iron Fan said as she silently stirred her drink. “You have just woken up from imprisonment.”
“Imprisonment heh, that is one way to say that damnation,” he huffed.
“But next time we will be prepared father,” Red Son confidently said.
“Hmph,” he grunted out as his mind was still racing as he thought back to the small mortal boy, “who was that little thief who claims to be the successor of Sun Wukong?” He snarled the last part out.
“Oh he is just a noodle boy who got lucky,” the flame demon huffed as the wind demon stayed silent.
“Well that luck seems to let him wield the staff, so there is some truth in his foul words. Either way, while he is no threat, he is a nuisance and you know what we do with pests” he stood up and his shadow seemed to grow in intensity with each and every word he spoke.
“We crush them,” the boy grinned savagely.
“Under our feet,” he stomped his large hoof in emphasis.
“Yeah, I have a bit of a problem with that,” a voice rang out and before anyone could react, the Bull King was suddenly pinned down by a large violet one-eyed form that emerged from his shadows.
“What is this!?” He yelled out as he struggled to break free, but it proved to be tough as his injuries weren’t fully healed.
“Father!” Red Son began to rush over but was stopped by his own shadow as well. “How dare you! Get your peasant hands off of me!”
Princess Iron Fan, the only one still free, barely reacted as a form from her own shadow began to come out, but instead of capturing her, it turned around to face them all.
“I was too naive to think it was merely a coincidence,” she sighed as the shadowy form revealed itself a very familiar simian face.
“Hey Flicker, Raki,” Macaque casually said to Red Son and Iron Fan as his eyes glinted a hostile violet, “it seems that we need to talk.”
“Six-Eared Macaque!” DBK stilled his movements, no matter how much the urge to break free, as he looked to the medicine monkey, “what treachery has overcome you that you dare make a move against us?”
Red Son couldn’t say a word as he looked at the demon, instead, his eyes were blasted open wide in confusion.
“Usually nothing,” he shrugged as he took a step towards them, “I don’t get up all in your shit when you swing by for some medicine and you don’t short change me.”
“It would be foolish,” Iron Fan said as she set down her cup with a small clink.
“Tell that to some demons,” he said as he took another step forward, “usually you guys are no problem, but now you became a problem.”
“You never interfered with our plans before, what makes this time so different,” he spat out.
“When you attacked my kids,” he bluntly stated with a snarl on his lips as his eyes glowed a bit brighter.
This stilled both father and son, but not the mother who pinched her nose.
“I was afraid of that.”
“You should be,” he sneered out as the shadows all around grew in intensity as they crawled up the walls leaving the area there in almost total darkness.
“Wait kids?! Do you mean noodle boy and biker girl?” Red Son asked as he flinched as the eyes locked onto him.
“MK and Mei, I know I told you about them plenty of times,” he drawled out.
“I didn’t realize they were the same ones,” he horrifyingly whispered out.
“Apparently not many do, so here’s what’s gonna happen,” he said with an even tone, “unless they have attacked you first, you will not lay a fucking hand on either of them, cause if you do, well I won’t be very…kind,” his voice echoed throughout the caves. “Do we have a deal?”
“Deal,” the Queen said first.
“Deal,” the Prince agreed next.
“…Deal,” the King lowly said.
“Good,” the shadows vanished in a poof and both Bull King and Red Son were freed and the cavern walls were once again illuminated by the soft glow of light, “I’m glad we can come to an agreement.”
“Will you still supply us?” She asked as she got down to business, he may have just threatened them, but he is currently the only demon nearby, and most experienced, with not only knowledge of medicine, but can acquire precious materials.
“Same charge,” he waved off as he began to walk away, “and Flicker, Sandy really?”
“It didn’t occur to me he was there until after I attacked,” he winced as he voiced his embarrassment, he didn’t notice his therapist was there until all was said and done. He should probably be grateful that Sandy usually goes with the flow, else he really would be screwed.
“Good luck on the next session,” he smirked, “Also, Daiyu wants a spar sometime, she misses having to fight against a fire demon,” he said. Daiyu has some issues going on in her mind, but that ain’t any of his business. He absolutely does not want to know what goes on in there.
Red Son blinks momentarily as she stands up straight and begins to boast, “As if she can hold her own against me! Tell her I will meet her in due time and she best be prepared.”
“Will do,” and like that he merged back with the shadows and vanished from sight.
“So what do we do now mother, father?” He looked towards both of his parents.
“We will honor the deal we made,” Iron Fan stated.
“Of course,” he didn’t even have to think to agree with that, even without the deal he still wouldn’t have attacked anything Macaque had claimed.
“And we will get stronger,” DBK finished as he stood up and began to walk away. He had no trifles with the Six Eared Macaque, even now when he wishes to wrap his hands against the monkey's throat for his words against him and his own, but he won’t. The two may have strict business relations, though the same can’t be said for his son and wife who seems to be on more…friendlier terms with him, he has a smidge of respect for the medicine monkey. He has heard the tales, both myth and reality, and he can acknowledge that the demon strove to his power through sheer cunning and wit, even if he had to stick to the shadows to achieve that.
So no, he will not go against the monkey deal, he has more integrity than that, but he will not show mercy if those mortals attempt to go against him.
“We will be unstoppable,” Red Son grinned as he made his way to his workshop. He had some inventions he’s been meaning to build.
Princess Iron Fan silently watched both her husband and son go in opposite directions. She gave a small sigh as she picked her cup back up and held it into her hands.
“It seems that the winds have changed once more, I wonder which direction it will blow.” She asked herself as she took a sip of her tea, then she scrunched up her nose at just how cold it was.
Oh yeah, I’ve been keeping the two of their reveal in my back pocket for this moment XD Props to anyone who may have figured it out along the way!
