Hi Arnold!! Do you know if any of the legionnaire's had ever been associated with/were in Kronos' army?
Hi anon!! Thank you for asking
Short answer, yes there were some, and I knew some of them personally. For future reading, I would recommend "On Traitors: An Essay" by K. Marcus.[1] An interesting read, though it very much shows that it was written right after Saturn's throne got toppled.
Now for the long answer. The defections started before the duration of the Second Titan war, and though there is not a clear date on it as of now, my supervisor guesses approximately 8 years ago. Around %15 of the current legionnaires had defected; that makes it roughly 30. Though the full number of people who went missing without any notice is 37.
Camp Jupiter as in whole lost %40 of its members and former members to treason. %25 of that was former legionnaires who retired to New Rome and those who left the camp altogether to live in the mortal world.
While the current reports that NRHA has access to doesn't cover the full list of traitors, officially deemed as such and not, investigating the known traitors former/current cohort members and those they sponsored/got sponsored by may give us as idea of who was associated with Saturn and his army.
For example, former preators Julius and Ariadne had ordered a top down search of the whole legion after August Octavian and Cornelia Octavian had gotten exposed as spies working for Saturn, due to the large amount of people they sponsored. The investigation also produced talks about firing their son Octavian Octavian from his position as the augur but ultimately that did not happen.

Reasons Your Character Was Made A Vampire That ISN’T Love
I've been roleplaying in vampire games for awhile, and a very common motive that I see for why a character was made a vampire, was that the vampire who made them was in love with them (or lust, or just because they were beautiful). In fact, it's far and away the single most common reason given in bios, in my own experience. Another thing I see a lot is that the character was just turned RANDOMLY for no apparent reason, which is weird to say the least. And while I'm not going to say these are bad reasons you should never ever do or anything like that, I am here to offer some alternatives if you’re interested in them, if “love” or “attraction” doesn’t work for your story or character, etc: 1) Hate. If vampirism is a cursed existence, maybe it was brought about because the sire vampire hated your character and wanted them to suffer, or had a grudge against someone your character was connected to and wanted to punish them by “stealing” their loved one and making them a monster. Similarly, perhaps your character was being punished for something grave. Note that this really only works when being a vampire is a truly unfortunate thing to be; being given eternal life, youth, and a bevy of superpowers is not exactly a punishment on its own, especially if your vampire has ways around killing people for their blood (bagged blood, willing donors, psychic vampire, doesn't need to kill to feed, etc) so I would recommend it for canons where being a vampire really sucks, no pun intended. 2) Usefulness. Perhaps your character has some skill or ability that their sire had use for, or some role they could play, and it’s something they needed long enough to require making them a vampire. Or maybe the skill is needed, but it can only be useful if they also have the enhanced strength, speed, and healing typically associated with vampires in current pop culture. Or maybe they needed a patsy or pawn in some scheme, and they needed to be a fellow vampire, and what better one than some naive newcomer who trusts them? There’s endless potential reasons here! 3) Preservation. Maybe your character has some trait or skill that the vampire who turns them believed must be preserved forever. Maybe they’re a master artist not appreciated in their own time, the last speaker of a dead language, a scientist who needs more time on their work (a project the vampire themselves commissioned, perhaps?) than a natural lifespan can give, or some rare supernatural talent they already posess before being turned. 4) Worthiness. The vampire sees something in this character that they feel has earned being a vampire too. Maybe it’s ruthlessness, cleverness, military prowess, or drive to survive above all else. Maybe it’s unusual kindness, or unusual cruelty. Maybe they accomplished some great feat. Maybe they did a favor for the vampire in exchange for the gift. Again, there are vast options here depending on the personal standards of the sire. One good tip I recommend is to develop the sire vampire as a character themselves, not just as a background prop to the character being turned. What they value, what they're like, who they are that has NOTHING to do with their childer. Then look at that person, and go, why would they turn someone? A lot of times, the sire character either has no personality at all, or is just obsessed with the childer, and that's about the amount of thought given. I think that's part of why some people have a hard time thinking why their character would be turned, so they just go with 'well they were in love' or make it a random attack. There certainly are people who, if they were a vampire, would turn others for love. Others for greed or gain to themselves in some way. Others out of loneliness, a desire to preserve something they value, out of anger, because they were impressed---the reasons for someone to be turned are as numerous as people themselves, and most vampires (depending on the canon) are people. For ideas on why your character could be turned, another good reference is to check out the different clans of the “Vampire: The Masquerade” tabletop roleplaying game (which is where the terms sire and childer seem to originate!). Each clan has different values, and thus seek different traits in recruits, and have different ways of handling said recruits---teaching them, nurturing them, testing them cruelly, or straight up abandoning them to see how they do. This isn’t to say make your character(s) obvious expies of the clan in question (unless that’s what you want) but more like, say, if the way the Toreador clan or the Lasombra clan chooses and treats their “Embraces” sticks out to you as working for your character and/or their sire, there’s no reason you can’t use that for your own character even in a setting where those clans don’t exist. You can mix and match too----for instance, maybe the sire chose your character for Ventrue-like reasons (nobles, religious leaders, great military figures, successful CEOs, powerful mob bosses, etc) but treated them in a more Gangrel-like way (Embraced by ambush, then abandoned to survive on their own for a time and only re-approached by their sire once they proved their worth) Also, while most vampire RPs that I’ve seen work on the “human turned by a vampire who also used to be human” version, it is worth noting that while modern pop culture vampires are almost exclusively deliberately "made" by other vampires, that's not the case at all in the folklore(s) that they come from. These are some ways people became vampires in various legends from around the world:
- Dying without being baptized - Being buried improperly or not at all - Dying of suicide - Wicked deeds in life - People who were witches or werewolves in life; werewolves and vampires overlap in many folklores, and are sometimes the same creature. Ditto for vampires and witches. - Be the seventh child of the same sex in a family - In some stories, any corpse that was jumped over by an animal, particularly a dog or a cat, was feared to become one of the undead - Violent death - Unfinished business in life And if you’re making your own story, you can always make up your own unique way! Magical rituals, botched experiments, deals with gods, the possibilities are only limited by your imagination!

EDIT: Added a read more, the post had been originally written on mobile
For context, unless stated otherwise for the most part, this is the roleplay dynamic.
Ayyy, been seeing some Dream SMP takes on Tommyinnit’s character development that are pretty uh, piss poor. I want to point some obvious things out to people. Especially following the Technoblade/Tommyinnit team disbanding.
Techno isn’t right. Techno was certainly not in the right there, and Tommy didn’t do anything that regressed his character either, his entire character came to a development.
Let’s Start by pointing out that Wilbur has posted their Dungeons and Dragons Alignments, where Techno is Lawful Neutral and Tommy is Chaotic good. (For sake of the post, Tubbo is Lawful Good.)
So I’m going to break down exactly what was going on there and how it developed the characters.
If we go by Technoblade first, I’m seeing a lot of people say he’s better than Dream- he is- and therefore Tommy shouldn’t have left. Which is true, Techno is better than Dream, but he’s just like Wilbur. Watching from Technoblade’s POV, you notice that he starts carrying a book of the To-Do List he intends to do with Tommy. Outlining that he wants to destroy L’Manburg and tried, at almost every chance he got, to convince Tommy to do so.
Tommy said no, he didn’t want to destroy L’manburg, because he cared for it. He outright said no, he JUST wanted his discs back.
Techno concedes, saying Tommy doesn’t have to participate, only after failing to convince him many times.
Techno the entire time, tried to convince Tommy that Tubbo wasn’t his friend, that Tubbo obviously doesn’t care for him. (Not true, as Tubbo literally mourned him and thought he was dead and it destroyed him.) Which is EXACTLY what Wilbur did.
This is an isolation tactic. Techno used ANY means necessary to try and recruit Tommy. Because his character doesn’t care about interpersonal relationships so long as he gets his goal- possibly excluding Phil. His entire character sticks to one set of Morals and set of laws he’s self imposed. (Canonically refusing to truly give up violence).
1. Governments are bad.
2. Governments must be destroyed.
3. The means justify the ends so long as it destroys the government.
Technoblade’s character gets a lot of sympathy, which is cool, but I want to point out while he personally was felt betrayed, he never was.
Techno from the start, was anti-government. Willing to destroy it all so long as another country was never rebuilt. That was his only condition.
Except he KNEW everyone else wanted L’manburg back, that’s what the fight was about. It was very transparent that everyone else was working for L’manburg back.
The three people who wanted it destroyed? Wilbur, Dream and Techno.
Techno wasn’t betrayed, he chose to ignore the goals of his allies until it came time that everyone took back L’manburg. He ignored knowledge that was given to him plenty of times, by Tommy himself even. They wanted L’manburg back. Techno talks of betrayal, but when Tommy points out that Techno betrayed them, he falters and excuses himself.
Which brings Tubbo into the mix. Tubbo was an ally, and he was working with them, WILLINGLY, to give information because he wanted to take down Schlatt and return L’manburg to how it was. He was trapped, scared and wanted help. In the festival, when Technoblade shoots him, THAT is a clear act of betrayal. Techno kills Tubbo, at Schlatt’s orders, betraying Tubbo and Tommy’s trust in him as he worked, clearly, for the other side, against their collective goals.
Techno claims the ends justify the means, and that he was under mild amounts of peer pressure. This is an example of his character. He doesn’t feel bad for hurting his ally, because they got something out of it. If it suits him, he WILL hurt his allies to get ahead in his goals, and he will say anything to justify it.
Tommy’s character cannot agree with this. He values friendship the most, and would give up his goals for his friends, as a true Chaotic Good, he values his friends and the people around him, over any law or morals, and would break his laws and morals for it.
He couldn’t understand Techno shooting Tubbo, because he wouldn’t. There wouldn’t be a force on the SMP that could make him shoot Tubbo in Techno’s place. They have too widely different views, where Tommy values friendship and people, Techno values ideals and goals.
So, we’re not even done and this is pretty long, let’s cover Tommy and the discs. The entire plot device for season one and two.
Tommy’s attention to the discs are goal oriented, to get back his discs no matter the costs, yeah? Except I feel like some of you have no idea where this goal came from. Tommy gave up the discs before, despite fighting for them desperately, so his friends could have L’manburg. He fought desperately, to have those discs back initially, as a war against Dream.
“Before this, before everyone, before L’manburg, it’s always been me and you, against Dream.” Tommy to Tubbo, before the Pogtopia vs Manburg war. (Might not be a true quote.)
This isn’t just a cute little moment, Tommy CARES for Tubbo deeply, they’re some of the closest friends on the SMP. He fought Techno because Techno killed Tubbo. It was personal for him, that is his best friend and he would do anything for him.
Tommy does, do anything for Tubbo, promising that no matter what, it will be the both of them. That they will always be together. This isn’t showing his hero complex, this isn’t a show of some inherent flaw. This is Tommy’s closest and most valuable interpersonal relationship. Chaotic Good Tommy values his friendships deeply.
So when Techno continuously tries to pressure Tommy into believing Tubbo and him aren’t friends, that Tubbo doesn’t care, and so they should hurt Tubbo to get the discs back, Tommy refuses. He refuses over and over again, claiming he trusts Tubbo will give back the disc.
Technoblade uses the framework Dream made, by the way, to accomplish this. He takes Tommy’s fragile mental state and uses that to his advantage. He does what Wilbur does, and almost succeeds. Tommy falters, believing momentarily that Tubbo doesn’t care. Something Dream was trying to convince him of in his isolation. Which isn’t true. Tubbo, upon learning Tommy is dead, is in disbelief and despair.
Let’s talk about the hostage situation for a moment. Tommy tells Tubbo off for not coming to his beach party, and that he was never visited, never received letters, and he was told the same thing from Tubbo as Wilbur said; “I wasn’t invited. I did send you things.”
The broken relationship we see? It’s falsely constructed by Dream. That bond exists still, fractured because someone came in with the intentions to break and destroy Tommy’s interpersonal relationships and manipulate him.
Tommy’s exile arc, was an abuse arc. Tommy was regularly abused by Dream. Techno profited off it, and used Tommy’s fragile mental state to try and achieve his goals, not even trusting Tommy until, in his fragile state, they both threaten Fundy. Techno sees this as commitment to the cause.
Tommy wanted his discs, Techno wanted L’Manburg destroyed.
So when the community house was destroyed, and we get that scene with Techno going with Tommy, they both have a moment. But I’ll address that in a second.
First, Tommy rushes in to defend himself, saying he didn’t destroy the community house. That he was innocent.
Tubbo doesn’t believe him. Why? Because Tommy does this. Tommy destroys things, he burned George’s house (taking the fall for Ranboo), he did plenty of things.
Tommy and Tubbo fight, and Tommy says, “the discs were worth more than you ever were”. This line, I’ve seen it interpreted many ways, one being he used to value the discs over Tubbo, and another being his values as a character.
It’s neither, by the way. It’s a heat of the moment comment, it shocks Tommy into silence, he instantly regrets it. He hates that he said it. Tommy’s goals, in that moment, change, based on his alignment. His goal doesn’t matter, if it’s hurting the people he cares for. It’s hurting Tubbo, it’s time to get rid of the goal.
In that instant, the discs do not matter. They mean nothing. Tommy doesn’t care for them. This is the moment that he GROWS as a character. Instead of obsessively wanting the discs and harming his friends for it, he is willing to let them go so he can foster his friendship. His arc, comes to an end. He doesn’t choose to be a hero again, that’s not what that is. No, he chooses his friend, the one he’s put so much faith and trust into, over something he has realized doesn’t mean more.
He tells Tubbo to give the disc to Dream, because he doesn’t care about them anymore, the sentimentality he has with them and Tubbo mean nothing if he loses Tubbo. Chaotic Good, he chooses the people over his goals and morals (which change on a whim).
Techno, who was using the discs to get Tommy to cooperate, who only recently thought Tom y and him were equals, is enraged because he can’t understand it. He can’t understand Tommy giving up his goal, because he couldn’t. His goals and ideals, they never went away in retirement, he was always wanting to destroy the government, he was planning it behind Phil’s back even. Everything he did was in preparation for a war. I think, even without the execution, Techno would have gone back to his ideals to destroy the government.
Which is why Techno, is angry. He feels betrayed, because once again, the outcome that was obvious happened, and someone stuck to their own words. Tommy would never harm Tubbo, and he wasn’t going to help Techno against L’Manburg.
But Tommy doesn’t do it maliciously against Techno, willing to even try and stay friends, showing he still cared for him. Tommy values his friends, including Techno in that moment.
What Techno sees is Tommy’s betrayal, Tommy broke their alliance because his goal is gone. “Help me get back the discs.” Tommy said when they made that deal. That no longer applies, Tommy was never intending on helping with the destruction of L’Manburg or the death of his friend.
Techno, once again, convinced himself that he would be assisted in his goal despite the vocal outcry against it.
So what does Techno do? He gets revenge. He teams up with Dream immediately.
That’s Techno’s character. Interpersonal bonds mean nothing if they get in the way of his goal, but he doesn’t go out of his way to purposefully destroy them. The MOMENT Tommy isn’t with him, Techno doesn’t have an issue with Dream or what he’s done.
Techno willingly teams up with Tommy’s abuser, because he gets his goal.
Tommy, who still cares for Techno is in shock at this. He sees Techno as a friend, like Tubbo. This hurts him.
Techno, later, even goes on to say he doesn’t care for friends so long as the people he’s with share his ideals, ending into the extreme of his alignment.
Techno has never been a good guy. He’s an antagonist of the SMP. Particularly, he’s not a villain, but antagonist. He’s an obstacle. Not via his person, but his goals.
And he wins, and he tells Tommy, “you never saw me as a person, only a weapon, you betrayed me twice now”.
Tommy, who has seen them as friends, after Techno broke their friendship off the first time with the withers, counters, “and what of Schlatt and what you did to Tubbo”.
Which Techno dismisses as, “in the past” and “it doesn’t matter”. To Techno, it’s not relevant how he treats others, his betrayal to other people doesn’t matter, just the perceived betrayal towards himself.
In the end, Techno is blinded by his beliefs. They controlled him to the extremes. To the point where he would burn any bridge made to keep them.
But Tommy? Tubbo? They gave up L’Manburg, to make their own little place. No vocal apologies were given, yes, and they should address that, but they gave up the country to be together as friends.
And for anyone wondering, Tommy and Tubbo are friends again, through action. Tommy, contrasting his words, gave the discs up to repair his friendship.
Techno, true to his word, destroyed the country and killed anyone who stood in his way. Even going out of his way sometimes to target Tubbo and Tommy.
In short, Techno was a second Wilbur to Tommy, and it shows that some people ignored the subtle manipulation attempts to achieve his goal. Is he as bad as Dream? No, not even close actually. But he’s as bad as Wilbur.
I also want to point something out on ages. Techno is canonically an adult. Tommy is a child, a kid. He’s a kid. The dynamic between them was skewed.
Techno saw a kid, in distress, and in a poor mental state, and tried to manipulate him.
When the kid figured out he didn’t want his goal anymore, he backed out. Techno punished him, by repeating what would be a huge source of trauma for him.
Techno tried to destroy L’Manburg, and succeeded. And he told Tommy that, “you could have just sat out”.
Tommy couldn’t. Because Tubbo is, and always will be, his closest friend. He values his bonds, but he promised Tubbo it was the two of them.
As Philza is the exception to Techno’s alignment, the promise to Tubbo is the exception to Tommy.
There was no betrayal, but a shift in goals and ideals from Tommy, which lead to Tommy and Technoblade no longer needing to be allies.
The narrative isn’t supposed to be black and white, that’s most of the characters. Techno being a big perpetrator of this. The narrative is a morally Grey area, where you can side with whoever you want.
That’s it, that’s the meta.
- Signed, A Techno and Tommy apologist

my thoughts on doomsday (part 1)
i’ve seen some people say that doomsday was just very unsatisfying for them. so i’m gonna make a post saying why i actually really really like doomsday. doomsday was very very poggers imo. This is an incredibly long post and it is only Part 1.  // dsmp , rp , c!dream , c!techno , c!phil
The reason I like doomsday so much is all the tragedy of it while it being beneficial for most of the server? It pushed some characters forward into their development, and I find that really really well. Also, L’manburg’s gone and that has a few effects.
Part 1 - The Doomsday Trio
First of all, our main stars of the show: C!Techno, C!Dream, and C!Phil. They all had their own very valid reasons on why they wanted L’manburg gone.
C!Techno - “I tried that Tommy, and you know what they did? They hunted me down! They made it clear that them and I can’t coexist in this world.”
Doomsday was really satisfying for C!Techno. Because in his eyes, everyone saw him as a weapon, from the very beginning. Do not come at me saying that they didn’t. The characters definitely did not, but that is what C!Techno felt, and the pain C!Techno had was incredibly real. This is what we call a warped perception.
Anyway, C!Techno does not have a grudge to any of the members of L’manburg. He just hates the government as a whole. He’s been trying his best to heal and just let it be, but since the butcher army hunted him down despite him not doing anything and he just said empty threats on Nov 16, he’s pissed about it.
He would’ve let it slide if C!Tommy hadn’t betrayed him, that was his final limit. The butcher army pushed him to do it, and then C!Tommy, his ally, his friend, just betrayed him like that the moment he no longer needed him for the discs. He was so tired of just being treated as some- some tool, as some sort of weapon.
He is a person!! Discs aren’t people!!
They really wanted a weapon of destruction that bad? Fine, he’ll do it. He’ll liberate citizens along the way.
C!Techno’s story of Doomsday was filled with lots of emotions. He wanted to make peace and just let people be, despite the fact that there are victims of the government in there, but apparently that wasn’t enough. He was filled with rage, with sadness, with anger, with just overall pain. But now, with L’manburg gone, his work here is done, and he can move in to retirement.
C!Phil - “Since I was forced to kill my own son, YOU IDIOT!”
C!Phil is a victim of the government. He was put under ankle monitors for months and he couldn’t go anywhere. We all know this. He knows how bad the government is, and he’s sick and tired of it.
While that is one of the reasons, there are some other reasons to it. Let’s turn some of the pages back to November 16th.
He came in. He saw his son with a button. He figured out that it’ll blow up everything. His son’s L’manburg, his unfinished symphony, forever unfinished. The thing that his son built this nation for doesn’t exist anymore. It’s over. He looks at the crowd, Wilbur tells him that everybody wants his son dead. He does the deed, and watches every single tiny detail unfold.
This is a very traumatic experience for any father- well- for anyone, really. C!Phil is just more silent about it and represses it. His own son, blew up the country, his own nation, and he figures that it’ll never be a free country. It’s not a good place, not with all this war and chaos. He realizes that even before he gets chained to his house.
He realizes that the L’manburg isn’t a good place. He’s going to end it before anyone else gets hurt. Destroying what was always a hellscape to him, so that they will reach the greater good.
C!Phil’s doomsday is also filled with a lot of emotion, but not in the same way as C!Techno’s. C!Phil has had so many negative experiences with it, that he truly believes that this is the right thing to do. He was once a victim, and now no one else will be.
C!Dream - “Now, the server will be at peace.”
C!Dream was always against L’manburg, from the very beginning. He saw all this coming, all this division between Americans and Europeans. At first, he thought that maybe it wouldn’t be too bad, maybe it’ll be okay. But after the elections, everything went downhill.
He was right, these nations would create oppositions in the server he cares about. All his friends that he invited here, are all fighting each other. This isn’t how the server was meant to be. It was supposed to be peaceful, with everyone messing around with each other. If there was conflict, it would be between two people and those two only. Not between two groups.
His plan to blow up Pogtopia and Manburg was a success, and he’ll do it again. His plans of exiling Tommy may not have gone that well, but he has a backup plan. Originally, it was going to be slow. He was supposed to take down L’manburg piece by piece. That’s why he removed Tommy, he was the glue holding them all together. You remove the glue, and everything falls apart. But one thing went wrong, Tommy escaped from exile.
Now that he’s escaped, he doesn’t know what’ll happen. He knows he’s with Techno, but one day he might escape and go back to L’manburg without him knowing. He was very paranoid during this time, thinking that Tommy might escape (which is why he made him throw all his armor in a pit). He needed to have power over Tommy so he could control him and make him stay away from L’manburg.
He hatched a brilliant plan. He would blow up his community house, pin it on Tommy, and get the disc so he could lure Tommy back to Logstedshire. It would mean destroying the creation he made with his friends a year ago, but it’s all for the greater good. He’s ruthless after all, not only to others, but also himself.
The time came, and once again, his plan didn’t go well because Tommy was there. He saw C!Techno hurt, and saw an opportunity. He asked him, if he still had TNT. He knew that his goals aligned with his, and now would be the perfect time to strike.
The day comes, and L’manburg is no more. It turns out that his plan didn’t go the way he wanted to, but his goal was reached. Now, there’s no more divisions, and the server will be at peace.
C!Dream’s story has been consistent from the start, he’s always been like this. Cold, calculating, strategic, ruthless, self-sacrificial. He’s had one of his goals done, and this is basically his entire life story, I don’t know what else to tell you.
I WILL POST PART 2 TOMORROW!! DON’T WORRY!! I JUST THINK THIS ONE IS ALREADY TOO LONG LMAO
Part 2 will be our set of “traitors,” C!Ranboo, C!Niki, and C!Fundy. Stay tuned. :)

So for what it's worth, all of my attention seeking nonnies can go home, I've reached peak, and it wasn't even any of these try-hards on tumblr.
I got a like 3 page monologue from a literal incel dude that redpilled himself and joined MGTOW that I haven't spoken to in somewhere between 5-7 years blasting on gloriously about the fact that he's going to hunt down and kill all of my roleplay characters I haven't even played in just as long to close a chapter of a book. He used phrases like "I am a wolf, circling on the hunt, [sic] I will find them and I will kill them" and "In violation of Sun Tzu, [sic] I am going to pursue this until it is complete."
He's even planned out in his head how he's going to annihilate these fictional characters I haven't touched for leaning towards a decade, including somehow breaking my heart by "destroying" a character literally designed to be an importable villain with an open book bible to be used in people's tabletop campaigns for fodder to BE beat if people want plot juice.
Like literally, none of you can ever upstage that. I'm just going to reblog this post from now on whenever a wanky anon tries to grab my attention, because that's it, go home, the game's over, I've been trying to work through tears of laughter for like 3 hours, it just keeps hitting me in waves while I'm at work because I made the mistake of checking my phone at break.
Will post behind the cut for people who want a giggle.
So a few months ago, I realized this dude friended me on FB and like, whatever, I don't care, but I sent him this message:
5/3/20, 3:28 PM
You sent May 3, 2020
Okay I'm dying of curiosity dude. Why would you of all people randomly friend me like 5 years later?
No response. Cool, whatever. Minding, as you can see, the date on that was May 3, and today is June 24, I had literally completely forgotten he existed again. The dude was always a tool and never worth my time, and like-- seriously, peak Whatever?
So today during break, I check my messages--
1:35 PM (Dude) sent Today at 1:35 PM Alright. A while back I friended you, and you asked me why. The answer is simple, and as vitriolic as it is, it's honest.
Because I knew that our beef we had wasn't over. Not on my side. Not even a little.
Am I holding onto it? Yes. Yes, I am. Am I going out of my way to perpetuate it? No. I have way too much on my plate to do that.
But one day, a day that is looming, I knew that our paths would cross again, and when it happened, I wanted to be ready.
As it stands, I am ready.
So in violation of Sun Tzu, I figured that you would appreciate at least one gentlemanly moment of clarity.
I'm still around and I am circling around the haunts like a wolf on a trail.
One day I will find them, and I am going to use (his character) to kill off your characters in combat, either one at a time, or all at once. It doesn't really matter to me. The result is going to end the same.
Santhis/Rudianos will find one opponent that not only matches him blow for blow, but also knows how to see his next move coming.
Xenthus is going to find someone who is not impressed by his illusions and trickery.
Luci is going to start waking up with cold sweat flashbacks until his nightmares are proven real.
Ferrous is going to be overwhelmed and broken.
And Ash is going to be blood eagled, and his entrails hung above his tower as a warning to the others of what is coming.
And when it's all said and done, Serpent Isle in all of its entirety will not lose its life.
It will simply be turned into a breeding ground for nightmares and horrors, and then simply left in that state. Forever.
So maybe you're asking yourself why I am telling you this.
Why after all these years I even still care.
Closure, (Deadname). It's simply closure.
No malice, no mercy, no drama beyond your reaction.
Just me penning the end of a particularly toxic book which I will then close and burn. Happily, I might add.
So that stated... get them ready. Amp them up. Go get that Godslayer.
You're gonna need it.
You sent Today at 1:38 PM I'm sorry, you seem to have me confused with someone that still roleplays, much less wants to channel some strange vendetta you're carrying?
I need you to understand. You aren't a thought in my mind beyond when you insert yourself. I'm currently managing 400 employees as i respond to you. On the daily i have to hold correspondence with elected officials. The rare time i have down is spent in my av media server or finishing up something like DCBB. And that isn't counting my two side hustles or the fact that I am moving.
If you think I so much as think about you often much less hold some grudge for bloody rp combat resolution or something you have direly mismarked this situation.
(Dude) sent Today at 1:40 PM If you say so, (Deadname). If you say so.
You sent Today at 1:42 PM Please take some xanex dude
[1:47 PM] (Dude) Today at 1:46 PM I'll take some Xanex when you stop worshipping Ashmedai. 📷
You sent Today at 1:47 PM OK sweetie please drink your juice box and take a nap

Ok no, but I just have to rant on this. It’s been consuming my thoughts y’all, I just can’t stop thinking about it all.
So, this is about the Dream SMP- I recently got introduced to it through some friends and the animatics by SAD-ist were really what sold me to it. I’ve been trying to catch up on it all(god, it’s so good but also such a mess, I don’t think I’d have it any other way) and I just. So many thoughts y’all.
That ending tho, y’all that’s really what started this train of thought. It was so good. Like, I’ve seen quite a few posts on why it was predictable, not the unexpected twist Dream promised, and just. Not that good of an ending and honestly that’s a matter of opinion so I shouldn’t really care(and I don’t. much) but I still want to rant on the direct opposite side because fuck it I have thoughts!!!
obv spoilers for recent dream smp actions
tw for discussion of death in-universe and indirect discussion of suicidal ideation/possible intention
boi did I not think I’d add those tws to a post about a minecraft rp server of all things, but here I am
stay safe y’all

This will mostly be on Willbur’s decent, for those wondering, because it’s just. there’s so many things to that ok. I just, this is just gonna be a ramble, just for me to get my thoughts out there.
So, I’ve seen a lot of things about Willbur- his decent into madness being the main thing. Mostly, it all seems to boil down to one thing- his desire for power and his view of Tommy being what led to him, well, blowing up L’manburg. But I personally don’t see that as the full story. Sure, it’s part of it, but it just feels incomplete to me. What would kickstart it? how would he go from adoring Tommy and only wanting L’manburg so that Tommy could be safe, to blowing it all up and betraying Tommy?
How could he go from that to doing the one thing that would hurt Tommy the most?
I personally think the answer is simple. Tommy said it in his recent stream, welcoming ConnerEatsPants to the server, after all.
Trauma makes people vulnerable.
And Willbur has gone through a lot of trauma.
So, quite a bit of this depends on your view of how the world works. I don’t know if it’s ever been stated as cannon, but the deaths are specifically what I’m talking about.
They die so so much, after all. How does the work in-world? are they actually dying, and there’s a respawn function to the world(as in, it’s been a fact of life in-universe that you can die and come back) or do they just get injured, as a number of animatics/animations have chosen to depict it as? Are they being dragged back home by their comrades, fatally injured, just to heal?
Personally, I don’t see that likely as the in-universe explanation. They come back, after all. Come back and continue fighting, minutes after they’re killed. You can’t just use injuries as an excuse there, to explain it away.
So, I’ll follow this along with the ‘respawn exists’ assumption. Still, that brings up more questions. How did Willbur and JSchlatt permanently die, then? do you have to die in such a traumatizing way(your father killing you, all the people who may have once been your friends cornering you to kill you as your hopped up on drugs) that you no longer want to go back? That something deep inside you snaps and your connection to this world breaks, or is it something else? Does someone else pull the strings?
Is Dream the one, in-universe, to decide when you can respawn and when you die permanently? He’s closest thing to a god they have, after all, with access to creative mode and final say over the lands- the true ruler of the world. Is it him?
And still, there’s more questions. What is it like? How does it feel? is the corpse left there, or does it just disappear, leaving your stuff behind? maybe your body crumbles to dust, maybe it fades away before your eyes
Is dying just like Willbur described? Nothingness until you awake, only a taste of true death, a few seconds to experience it, to make you fear it? Is the pain all in the before, or do you feel in the after too, phantom aches and pains as you go about your life, the time you died a memory forever haunting you?
Does the end of your life hurt? Do you feel yourself being brought back to life? Does that hurt?
No matter what you decide, the fact of the matter is, it’s all still traumatizing. Being injured severely enough that you have to drop all your items and flee to heal up, or dying from those that you are always forced to interact with- it leaves a mark. Your left different than you were before. And other people can take advantage of this.
Who fed into all of Willbur’s manic thoughts, who fed into his idea that he was all alone? Him against the world, no one safe anymore. Who let him rot in those ideas?
Dream.
He did, afterall, give him the gunpowder for his eleven and a half stacks of tnt. He made a deal with him, that no matter what, even if he won, even if Willbur took L’manburg back, even if he became president and could make a safer place for them all, make a safer place for Tommy, even then.
The place would be blown sky. high.
He feeds into Willbur’s ideas, his thoughts, he eggs him on and pushes him forward(there is a traitor among you, one that you least expect). What if Dream was the one who ruined Willbur’s button, the first time? Trying to keep him tagging along, trying to drag him through the dirt to really show him, this is how it is, you are alone, no where is safe- no one is safe, everyone is against you. Dream is a sort of god, in the server. The land is his. He wouldn’t want L’manburg to stand, and he would want the one who had started it thoroughly against the rebuilding of it, before he had it destroyed. It would be a blow to morale, after all, for their leader to no longer believe in the dream that he’d once had. It would sow doubt, would make them think maybe, maybe it wasn’t a good idea, Willbur made it and he’s against it now.
They think he’s gone mad, true, but that doesn’t change that fact that Willbur started L’manburg. If the stress of it all was enough to make him lose it, couldn’t the others too?
Maybe it’s not worth it.
He destroyed it.
And here’s the thing, when Phil shows up?
It feels like a catalyst. A kick, a shove. Whatever you want to call it.
One last push by Dream, to force Willbur to do it.
Before, it follows. Willbur rants, he panics, he shakes. He stresses over it all, stares at that damn button. He made a deal, but should he really do it?
Tommy tried to give him the Presidency, tried to give him the power, a sign of trust. Surely, if Tommy trusted him after all that he’s done to him...
Surely, he can back away. Not ruin it.
Right?
He hesitates.
Then Phil comes. His father. He tries to talk him out of it, tries to get him to see sense. But in the end?
He’s the one final thing that Willbur needed to see, before his resolve hardened. Before the ache settled solid and true.
(Phil is panicking, and Willbur sees it.
He doesn’t trust him either, does he?)
Willbur is alone, and everyone is against him.
He hits the button.
See, the compound of events, the repeated deaths(injuries) he’s suffered all throughout his life, the war, they all add up. Whether death hurts or not doesn’t matter in the end, whether they’re dying or not doesn’t matter, because it all still hurts. The before hurts.
And you can only be hurt so many times before you can’t stand to be hurt anymore.
L’manburg caused Willbur so much hurt. The war, the suffering- it wouldn’t have happened without L’manburg.
All that was left for him was hurt, and all he wanted was for that hurt to leave.
With L’manburg in ruins behind him(he survived the blast, did he intend to? He never wore armor), Willbur demands for Phil to kill him. His father.
He doesn’t beg. He’s desperate, it’s obvious by the way he slams his fist down as he screams for it, but he doesn’t beg.
Instead, he eggs Phil on.
Just what Dream did to him.
He throws his arms towards L’manburg, shoves it into Phil’s face, makes him look.
Willbur did that. He is the cause. Phil should kill him, everyone wants him to.
It was just Willbur. Just Willbur, Willbur and all his hurt, just him against the world.
No one was on his side and he was alone.
Willbur works to anger Phil. Instead of begging for death he demands it and throws his sword at his father’s feet. He forces him to make a choice. Him or the world, because that was what it really was.
Willbur was alone. Him against the world. Would Phil choose him?
Look at me, it seems to scream, look at me and what I’ve done, look at the hurt I’ve now caused.
Where do you stand?
In the end, even if later, Phil seems to be good friends with Techno(another traitor, the traitors Techno Phil, it’s Techno, Phil, it’s Techno and he’s got eight whithers ready to go, you better hurry, run along now, before it’s too late), even if he doesn’t want to...
He chooses the world.
Phil kills Willbur, and Willbur gets to escape the hurt.
Is that what he wanted all along? Is that were his madness stems? The hurt of a boy watching children fight in a war, the hurt of a boy watching what is basically his brother fight and die over and over and over again, all for an idea he’d had...
Is that where it begins? Or where it ends?
L’manburg, the start and the end?
L’manburg, his symphony of hope, with a finale of agony.
It’s a predictable ending, maybe, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t fit. Techno may have been obvious, but that doesn’t mean there might not have been hope for otherwise, hope for a better future, hope for him to change his mind and hope for his affection for them to overrule his opinions and values of government.
I wonder, did Tommy ever see Techno and think of Willbur?
Did Willbur ever see Techno and think of Tommy?
Two siblings, seeing something that could have been(Tommy, lets be the bad guys) and something that will never be(Willbur, do you hear yourself?)
I wonder, did Willbur ever even give real thought to how the destruction of L’manburg would hurt Tommy? Did he?
Or was he too wrapped up in his thoughts, his own pain. Too wrapped up in the thoughts fed by Dream and the ideas burning through his skin.(the button might not even work -do you want to risk that?)
Through it all, did he think?
And this is not to say that Willbur is absolved of his guilt, of the crimes he has committed. He giggles about Techno killing Tubbo, he pushes for Tommy and Techno to fight in a pit, where Tommy is almost certainly going to die(another death added to hundreds of tallies), and he laughs as they fight.
(It stays in the pit)
He is not innocent. Explainations for his actions don’t erase those actions. It does, however bring even more questions into the mix.
The Pit.
Techno and Willbur’s views on Tubbo’s death(I was peer pressured), Tommy’s refusal to accept that then accepting his own death at Techno’s hands.
Has it become trivial to Willbur and Techno? An expectation to Tommy? Is Tubbo really unfazed, or hiding any emotions over his death? Do you choose to believe he died, or that he was injured to near death by Techno? Which is worse? If death is nothingness, the pain of before gone, washed away, than isn’t it better to die then to be injured? Is Tommy upset about Tubbo learning once more what death is, dealing with the pain of the before, or is he mad that Techno didn’t finish the job and let Tubbo be healed instead of respawned?
Did he die, or just get injured?
Another thought on the broken button, was it Dream, or was it Willbur? Willbur, doing one last thing to try and cling to him life before.(surely, if he broke the button, the urge to run to it would leave him?) Did he ever regret it, when he finally did push it? I don’t think so
His ghost.
Is it the escape he wanted? Did he want to forget it all, everything that led to hurt and was hurt? Is his description of death just what he wanted- wished- it to be? Would it be different for someone else? Does he hate it? Crave to go back to it, to leave the wandering of the world he’s left behind? He’s said he’s wanted to come back to life- does he miss it? Can he feel any of it? The sunlight, the air around him, any of it? Or does the nothingness stick? Is that all he feels?
Does it ache, worse than living ever did?

🐭 • So we literally know nothing about Bradley’s shenanigans between the end of Coon vs. Coon & Friends, when he left Earth to discover what happened to his home planet, and Bring the Crunch, where he states that he is living there now and doing who knows what.
Well I always wanted to write a post giving my thoughts on the subject (and I have a bit of a teaser here) so, for the sake of future RPs, I may as well do it. I will probably divide this into two posts because the Lore and my shenanigans are different things.
Just saying it now: this is mostly my own making and ideas as there’s very little canonical backing on the topic. If I have anything that I can quote to use as proof of my statements I will do it, but this is mostly my own interpretation.
youtube
Bradley Biggle has been around as a background character since Season 3, joining the main four as one of their classmates after moving to the fourth grade in Season 4. Still, until Season 14, he has been a (recognizable) background character with voice roles that could be easily counted with your hands –akin to characters like DogPoo or Kevin Stoley–.
The introductory paragraph above is a way of saying: we didn’t really know that much about Bradley until the Coon & Friends Trilogy. Hell, we still don’t, it is only on the final part of the trilogy, Coon Vs. Coon & Friends, when we learn a few things about him, and that episode starts with the video above.
“But Bradley Biggle is no ordinary fourth-grader!”
I am not going to waste time explaining why is Mintberry Crunch and what he does (for that’s what his About Page is all about) but, obviously, the entire clip is a form of foreshadowing to the ending. Spoilers to a 10-year-old episode: Bradley receives a message from outer space in which he’s told that he’s an alien from a far away planet whose destiny is to save Earth from C’thulu. Also Kenny thought that this revelation was going to be for him so he got scammed of his backstory, I guess.
Tumblr media
So yeah, Bradley is a superhero with a backstory akin to Superman: he is an enhanced alien that was sent off to safety as a baby during times of crisis, and was found, adopted and raised by a human family, the Biggles. Yeah, I don’t think anyone really thought that Bradley and Henrietta were biological siblings, but whatever.
While we don’t know if everyone in the planet K'oh Kajan (or Kokujon, as I will be typing it like that) has the same powers as MBC, since we know that the berries of that planet “have the power to fuel nearly anything”, I’m going to take a guess that the “nearly” is there because they cannot grant superpowers to people, so Bradley is the outlier and a case of the chosen one. He is the only one with this powers, basically.
So he defeats C’thulu with his mint and berry superpowers and stuff (yes, defeats, he can only summon mint and berry to his aid, which would mostly work to reduce an opponent rather than killing them), and this episode ends with what would mark MBC’s exit from the show (outside of the very rare background appearance) for a very long time:
Tumblr media
Canonically-speaking, this is what we know.
Bradley left to search for his biological parents (and his home planet, I suppose) and we would not hear about him for sure until Season 21. To be more precise, we would not hear about MBC’s shenanigans until his appearance in Fractured But Whole’s second DLC, Bring the Crunch.
youtube
Timestamp goes from 1:06 to 2:22 (unless you want spoilers).
Funny enough, while this would mark MBC’s return, it still does not give us much information about what he has been up to before the events pertaining this DLC. However, we still get a few clues from his in-game dialogue which I’m going to interpret for you guys.
"I picked up your distress call from the berry mines of my home planet. I've come to offer my assistance."
Something we know for sure is that he made it back to Kokujon!! This means that the main reason he has been away for so long (or so it’s my guess) is because he found his home planet, reunited with his biological parents and decided to settle there instead of returning to Earth with the Biggles. We still know that he visits, however, as he appears in Stick of Truth and in some more episodes (before disappearing again in Season 22):
Tumblr media
We still don’t really know anything about his home planet, though, outside of very selective information he gives in and out of battle. Here’s a few examples:
"It's so weird being back on Earth. I can't believe you guys only have one sun!"
“You wanna know the best thing about Kokujon? No school."
"I didn't travel halfway across the galaxy to be treated like this."
He doesn’t live anywhere in the Solar System, that’s for sure, because not only he has traveled “across the galaxy” to respond to Fastpass’ distress call (which is another can of worms in itself, because how could have he received a call like that from literal light years away?), but also our system only has one sun.
This is just me trying to tie things together with South Park canon (so it’s a bit of a tangent), but in Season 13, in the episode Pinewood Derby, we are made aware of the existence of the Federation of Planets, a government body that is on a galactic level. The only reason I mention this is because MBC has proven to be capable of traveling at warp speed –traveling from his home planet to Earth in a matter of (what I am going to suppose were) minutes after receiving that distress call–, and all the planets that have discovered warp speed are part of the Federation, so that must be the case for Kokujon.
The exception to this rule, if anyone has watched the episode, would be Earth, but that’s because they didn’t meet the requirements to join the Federation and were blocked off the rest of the galaxy instead.
Not sure if this is canon anymore, but if it is that means that Bradley is constantly breaking the law by visiting a planet that has been labeled as off-limits, but he is not the only alien that has set foot in South Park anyways.
Actually, speaking of breaking the law and stuff, that reminds me... here is a screenshot of MBC’s character sheet:
Tumblr media
While most characters in FBW have the Lawful (and only Lawful) alignment, MBC stands out because he has a more specific alignment. Not only he is Chaotic (which explains the possibility of him being breaking the law whenever he travels back to Earth), but also Neutral, which makes him... a morally grey character. He is neither good, neither bad, he is just... well, himself.
Why am I bringing this up anyways? Because there is one detail about the Kokujonian society that those that have played the DLC are aware about: the caste system.
"On my home planet, you'd get 10 years in the berry mines for that!"
The mention of these berry mines have been a thing ever since Season 14, but this line that can pop up when MBC is attacked in game has quite the connotations. Simple: you commit a crime, you are sent to the berry mines. You commit a crime, you work at the berry mines. You commit a crime, you become a slave. But you could say “oh, Mouse, but it could be like community service like many prisons on Earth- “ and I would have to tell you that you’re wrong because even MBC says so himself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Despite being a trope in many sci-fi stories based around alien societies it is a very fucked up elephant in the room and everyone and their mother knows this. The last mission in the Bring the Crunch DLC involves fighting (and killing) a mind-controlling alien whose motivation was revenge against the society that put his family (and possibly his entire race to) into this position. Not only that, but if MBC is being truthful, the Kokujonian society has no issue to do the same with anyone that breaks the law, even their own people.
So, does the fact that he is part of this society make Bradley evil? No. Once again, he is Chaotic Neutral, he is just Bradley. And looking at the definition of Chaotic Neutral:
“Chaotic neutral characters like to indulge in everything.  [...]  This type of character will at least consider doing anything if they can find enjoyment or amusement.  Life has meaning, but theirs has the greatest meaning.  According to chaotic neutrals, laws and rules infringe on personal freedom and were meant to be broken.  This character is always looking for the best deal, and will work with good, neutral, or evil to get it; as long as he comes out of the situation on top.  The chaotic neutral is constantly teetering between good and evil, rebelling, and bending the law to fit his needs.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
His alignment makes him more complicated than the black-and-white idea that is being good or being evil on one fact alone. He is defined, however, by the fact that he does what he pleases regardless of what society, morality and laws say. And this is easily backed up by how he addresses the Crooked Cop enemy class in FBW:
"Earth police have no jurisdiction over... Mintberry Crunch!"
"Authority figures are no match for... the crunch!"
So, basically, his alignment makes him a free spirit and, at best, because his family owns slaves, he would be a proxy. He’s mostly a 10-year-old with superpowers that has been granted total freedom to do what he wants and takes full advantage of it (an also a superhero and an illegal alien on Earth, literally and figuratively), so he is not precisely defined by the society of his home planet. I do believe, though, that he has been influenced by the Kokujonian society as a result of living with his biological parents, so his morality and ideas flip-flop a lot.
“Chaotic neutral characters are extremely difficult to deal with. Such characters have been known to cheerfully and for no apparent purpose gamble away everything they have on the roll of a single die. They are almost totally unreliable. In fact, the only reliable thing about them is that they cannot be relied upon!”
MBC choosing to fight that alien (an alien he carelessly allowed to follow him to Earth) could also be interpreted as personal defense and him defending planet Earth from an outer space threat as the Zarganor voices his intentions pretty clearly in-battle, but everyone is welcome to draw their own conclusions since both of them were motivated by very different things.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anyways, once again, Kokujon is a pretty fucked up planet, but it is also Bradley’s home planet. We can assume that finding this planet and his biological parents helped him discover his real identity as Gok'zarah and, once he accomplished this goal, decided that he had nothing else worth pursuing and settled. He is rather unpredictable, as his alignment dictates, so he may not even stay on Kokujon a lot and instead travels through the galaxy- but those are headcanons of mine.
In conclusion, as a TL;DR: Bradley disappeared from Season 14 to Season 21, and then from Season 22 and onwards, because he’s an alien and has chosen to live in his home planet. Said planet’s society has its fucked up side but Bradley is so unpredictable due to his free spirit nature it is hard to pin-point his morals.
Tumblr media
Anyways, for a character that started as a joke character that was used as a deus ex machina, I think he’s pretty cool! :·D And probably one of the strongest characters in this show’s universe.

RP Log: (Bucket List) Cravs and Lin EAT a pineapple.
Aislinn North It was odd. The way Cravendy insisted on taking a longer, roundabout way to the Mists. They skirted the edges of Limsa Lominsa and while certainly less trafficked, it took almost twice as long as just plowing straight through the seaside city. But eventually, there had arrived. Aislinn pushed open the door to her apartment and heaved a sigh as she stepped inside, holding the door open for The pineapple toting Seawolf behind her. "Alright. Step 1 accomplished. Time to get down to Step 2." Eating it shouldn't prove nearly as difficult as finding the damned thing.
Cravendy Hound didn't seem excited about the prospect of going anywhere near Limsa Lominsa, or any places guarded by the city's forces. But ultimately, she went along with Lin's idea to head back to her apartment. At every exposed turn, Cravs would hold the pineapple up at her face, a weak attempt at hiding herself from...from who? She won't say to Lin. The faster they get inside, the better.
Cravendy Hound: "Aye, finally! Who knew findin' one would be such a pain." Cravs makes a beeline for the couches by the aquarium and roughly drops the pineapple on the coffee table. She takes a seat like she owns the place. "Nice lil' home ye got 'ere."
Aislinn North Shuts the door and shrugs off her pack, setting it down on the floor. Her lips tugged upward in amusement as Cravendy settles on the couch. "Glad you think so. Nothing too grand, but its homey and its mine." Two things that seemed to be more than enough for the Highlander. She wanders over to the couch but instead of sitting, she picks up the pineapple and inspects it, turning it about in her hands. She taps it, listening to its hollow 'thunk' in reply. "After all that, I sincerely hope this is a ripe one." She looks over at Cravendy and pauses, considering. The uncertain ripeness of the pineapple pushed aside for a moment, and valiantly tries again to get the woman to open up. "Still not going to tell me what in Limsa has you so spooked?"
Cravendy Hound crosses and uncrosses her legs as she thinks of what to say. How to cover up. But once hinted at, nothing could stay secret from Lin for long. She decides to keep it simple. "I'm wanted. Don't want to get arrested."
Cravendy Hound - After dropping that so casually, she refocuses her attention to the pineapple. "Does it smell sweet? That's 'ow ye check if a peach is ripe."
Aislinn North had the good grace to rein in her surprise, a mere impressed flatting of her lips and an upward nod in response to Cravendy's explanation. No stranger to being a wanted woman, Aislinn tests the pineapple, sniffing it cautiously. "What'd you do?" she asks bluntly. "Is this back from your days with the Hounds? Or something new?" The fruit smelled somewhat...well, fruity. Not exactly sweet but almost citrusy as well. She turned and retreated to the kitchen. "Can't sit here staring and sniffing at it all day. Only one way to find out." she announces as she goes in search for a knife.
Cravendy Hound scoffs. "Yeah. Mostly prickly assholes too prideful to let bygones be bygones. Mostly." She shifts in her seat with a shrug. There were, of course, many that held reasonable grudges given what she had did. But for everyone else, Cravs was set on never giving them any amount of satisfaction.
Cravendy Hound: "Do ye need a 'and? Otherwise..." She looks around the room. "Ye got any liquor?"
Aislinn North "Ones with some sort of authority behind them, I take it?" In answer to Cravendy's question about liquor, she points with the tip of the knife she held to the shelf of dark bottles that stood to her left. "Nevertheless, prickly asses or no, suppose it was a smart thing to avoid the city proper. Plenty of other ones out there." As she spoke, she cut the spiney fruit into sections. "Gridania with it's lovely forest elementals, for instance." her voice as dry as desert sand. She *may* have been needling the Seawolf. A little bit.
Cravendy Hound kicks her feet forward and bounds up, energized by the prospect of booze! She goes over to Lin's collection, picking up and observing every bottle with interest. Maybe bourbon would go well with this pineapple thing? Or perhaps rum - tended to mix with tropical flavors.
Cravendy Hound: "Doesn't matter where ye go. Land or sea, the world's full of pissed off buggers who'll give ye the other end if ye give 'em a reason to. At least in Gridania I'm not the target of any particular grudge."
Cravendy Hound: "Yet." She laughs lightly, though worry tugs at the edge of her voice. As if she expects it's just a matter of time.
Aislinn North tips her head, conceding to Cravendy's point. It was a sentiment Aislinn had found to be true more often than not. "Well, the elementals might be a sensitive bunch but they've got to be better than sitting around in a gaol. Besides, you haven't been chased out of the Shroud lately, right? So, there's that." Plating up the fruit she brought it back to the couch and set it on the low table before falling back against the cushions. "Alright, ready to scratch this one off the list?" she asks.
Cravendy Hound returns to the seating area with a wide grin and several bottles. She also has brought over a few empty glasses and drink-making tools - a spoon, a muddler, things of that sort. "I learned it was cause they didn't like me shootin' up the trees, accident or no. But since then my aim's come back, so the Elementals 'ave nothin' to gripe about anymore."
Cravendy Hound: "But we're not 'ere to talk smack about some invisible gods." She claps her hands together in anticipation. "Ready when ye are!"
Cravendy Hound reaches for a pineapple slice and brings one up to her nose. Yup! Smells like food alright.
Aislinn North She smiles, unrestrained and free. "Right." Reaching forward, she plucks up a section of the yellow fruit from the plate. "Let's see what this is all about."
Cravendy Hound takes a bite, and is pleasantly surprised. Not crisp like an apple, nor juicy like an orange. It's somewhere in between, with each chew releasing more sweet-sour juice from the fruit's flesh. "Huh! The texture is like if ye dried a lemon but kept it juicy somehow."
Aislinn North Biting down on the fruity flesh, she pauses, her eyes going wide as an explosion of sweetness and tang hits her tongue. She bites through the fruit and chews through the tropical, almost overwhelming taste. "Honestly, beats any piece of fruit I've had so far." she nods. "Though you're right. Almost...string-like." a quiet laugh escapes her.
Aislinn North "The real question. Was it worth the trouble?" she asks, her eyes lit with a dose of good humor
Cravendy Hound picks up another and munches thoughtfully on it. Eventually, she drops a few pieces into a cup and mashes it up. A splash of bourbon, a bit of ice, and it's done! She takes a sip, looking awfully pleased with herself afterward.
Cravendy Hound makes one for Lin as well. "The answer is no. No, it wasn't worth the trouble. But 'ey." She pushes the drink to Lin with a grin. "Cheers anyway."
Aislinn North She laughs once again, brighter, more concrete. "I dunno. Next time we'll at least know where to look. I bet we could find one in half the time." she says as she takes the offered drink and tries it. It wasn't half bad. She peers down into the glass. "Think of the drinks to be made, for one."
Cravendy Hound peers over to the pineapple top that's left on Lin's kitchen counter. "More likely we'd catch a tropical fever. Bah, can't we just...magic a new one into existence or somethin'? It's so far otherwise."
Cravendy Hound: "But it's mighty temptin'. The drinks we could make with this, that is." She tips her glass and finishes it, pulpy pineapple and all.
Aislinn North Tilts her head, giving the question serious thought. "Possibly? But I'm not sure about the ramifications of ingesting a magic pineapple."
Aislinn North "Eat at your own risk kind of thing."
Cravendy Hound: "Sounds interestin'. Everythin's aether, so food is aether. And so is magic. Just different forms then, right?" Cravs shrugs. "Magic is weird."
Cravendy Hound - The topic would drift further in that odd direction - of magic food, of completely /made up/ magic food and if one could magic flavors into existance. And when it got late, Cravs would finally take her leave.
Cravendy Hound gets up and pats Lin on the shoulder. "Well, this 'as been fun. Don't work too 'ard, okay? I can tell...and ye'll need yer energy for the next proverbial pineapple."
(Cravendy Hound) there we go!! :D )) (Aislinn North) ((The end of the pineapple saga!)) (Cravendy Hound) ahhaaha pineapple arc )) (Cravendy Hound) hehe I like to imagine each finished item being pinned up on corkboard somewhere :3 )) (Cravendy Hound) the older i get the more the idea of a scrapbook appeals to me lmao )) (Aislinn North) ((It was a lot of fun! And yes! With red string leading from one to the next like some disjointed trail no one could follow)) (Cravendy Hound) half super cute, half looks like it's made by a conspiracy theorist )) (Aislinn North) ((Exactly!))

a vent (feel free to ignore if it's too much!): so recently i've noticed psd makers getting anon asks on whether they're ok with people who write certain topics (mostly rpf, incest, rape, underage, the usual "problematic" topics) using their recourses. now, i don't roleplay any of these subjects on tumblr, so even if a content creator said not to use their stuff, it's not even something i need to worry about - but, and maybe this is me overthinking it, what if i, someday, write a noncon fanfic on ao3? i'm still not using their resources on the subject or writing it on tumblr, but i'd probably feel weird about it, like i'm crossing some boundary. what if a psd maker whose content i've already purchased suddenly goes "actually don't use my psds if you rp abusive relationships", which is probably the closest to what people consider "taboo themes" of the things that i roleplay. it just feels like a fine line between personal boundaries and a shitty situation for a customer - not wanting to cross boundaries but already having PAID for something previously, when no such rules existed. it's making me want to 1. block everyone i see saying this, because even though i don't personally roleplay the topics above, i don't feel SAFE around people who tell others what kind of fiction they are allowed to enjoy and 2. just quit using people's resources and spend years learning to make my own psds so i won't have to worry about this shit. it's just stressing me out, as someone who has been harrassed and bullied online for speaking against censorship. i've had literal sock accounts made just to spew targetted harrassment at me on twitter. i've been accused of being a pedo and supporting incest and this is??? literally for saying "i don't think real people should be harrassed for fictional shit", i've not even shipped underage or incest ships. both make me uncomfortable. but fuck, antis make me 1000000x more uncomfortable than people who ship these kinda ships. i digress, this got rambley, i just. do you have any advice on what to do with the potential psd situation, or am i really just overthinking it? (always worried i accidentally send stuff like this off anon. help)
I need you to know that I actually had to rush-scroll back up and just double check that you did submit on anon lol! I always get worried I'll miss the one person who accidentally didn't use anon, if it makes you feel any better! When someone does submit with their URL attached, I message them first to be sure they are okay with them having it posted that way/it wasn't an accident ;) That's what I would want someone to do!
Alright, so, anyhow...
I've also noticed that becoming a more common thing and it's been on my (maybe huge) list of things to look into for a bit because I really do try to make sure I'm not just noticing things in my areas of the RPC/failing to notice things that do not impact me. Since I do all my edits and graphics, it falls into the first category for me. So, thank you for moving that up the list and informing me that it really is more prevalent and not my imagination!
My take on seeing it was a combination of business logic and anxiety, not going to lie.
On the first: charging to do a psd that is just that, just a psd file being used as a template/to act as an easier version of a photoshop "action" in a way, that's 100% legal and fine. Absolutely no muddy waters there. However, charging to do things like icons, edits, etc. that include images of celebrities and stills from movies (or gifs) is quite muddy. Legally, it's not legal. It's a thing we're allowed to do and use (on most platforms) because we're not making money off of it, we're not claiming to hold rights to the images, and so on - it's ignored but illegal. Charging money for it, however, even when phrased as "for my time" (which, absolutely valid feeling), is a more serious form of illegal and potentially attention-getting. This all gets more iffy though when we add donation instead of direct commission/purchase when working with these copyrighted materials. You can ask people to donate and suggest a donation based on your time spent, and that is always what I advise people to do.
Okay, so, that preface is necessary because the thing about stipulating use-rights is that they're iffy, too, there are variables present.
Often, these same people are charging for things like icon packs as well, meaning that even if they're only charging you for a template-style psd file sans imagery they don't own, they've kind of shot themselves in the foot. Not to mention, it's exceedingly damn hypocritical to pitch a fit about someone violating your rights when you're literally using other people's copyrighted materials lmao And that does tend to occur to me, yeah, it's a consequence of attorney friends and running businesses.
The other issues with this are that usage rights have to be stated at the time of purchase and morality clause-style shit, as pertains to products, is not legally binding.
When you purchase something like a psd file, that purchase acts as a sort of contract.
Think of like...buying a photoshop brush set - the person selling it puts very simple rules as to its use, such as: non-commercial use only, brush pack cannot be resold or distributed for free, separate brushes from the pack cannot be resold or distributed for free individually. Meaning that you own the brushes you bought, but you are not legally allowed to make real-life money from anything you use them in, and you cannot send the whole pack or files individually to friends for free or charge other people for them. By buying these, you have agreed to these stipulations of use and ownership.
If the person sells psd's and you agree to what they've stated about the use (you can't use them to do commissions you make IRL money from, you can't give them away to friends, etc.), that's binding even somewhere as casual as RP Land. The exchange of real currency makes it that serious.
However, there are limits to stipulations of use! One of those things is when you agreed - this person cannot, even one literal second, later change their terms of use and retroactively hold you to them. If they were okay with you not crediting them anywhere or using them in works you will gift others or charge others something like game currency for at the time you purchased, then that's it. Tough shit for them, not you, when they decide a month later that they want credit given where the work appears, that they do not want finished products gifted, or don't want you to make even in-game currency from them.
And that absolutely would apply to the morality wank, yes.
Except that this very morality wank comes with its own issues. Reality is not tumblr. In reality, at least in most instances and countries, you can't throw in a fucking morality clause regarding the buyer, use of item, or finished product.
Think of this in this way: Chik-Fil-A starts denying chicken and waffle fries to anyone suspected of being queer. They're legally allowed to run their business (as a private business, everything does have variables) with some things that are morally objectionable that they feel morally aligns with their religious beliefs. They're not allowed to deny queer workers a job or queer customers service, however, in accordance with overarching laws.
While "being gross" online in fiction is not like, making anyone a protected status person lol this is just an extreme example to drive home the point. Legally, when it comes to items/products be they digital or physical, your rights and responsibilities as the seller don't include your moral policing.
What your right is, is to make people uncomfortable to a degree, yeah. You absolutely can do that. You can state some nasty shit about prospective buyers you don't want. For example, they should (I mean, they should just grow up and get some real concerns, but) be stating that they would not like to see their psd's used by people on this following DNI list of idiocy, and they will block those users if possible to prevent interaction and purchase. That's really it, that's what they can do and the least immature way to proceed.
On the second: none of this logic would make me feel comfortable about interacting with them and their psd's in the future once they had outed themselves as morally objectionable and dangerous to me with this nonsense. And I would still feel anxious about using things I had previously bought because once harassed...it doesn't really go away, does it? It would just give me some ease about the latter with things I'd already made. Like, I could keep using the icons I'd made with those psd's with a little bit more comfort knowing that they honestly have not a leg to stand on outside of their harassment.
I might have the tendency to respond to harassment without much upset, but that doesn't mean I want to be harassed. Especially when I am not doing anything that draws that kind of attention. Not that harassment is warranted over anything, but when I make a PSA or answer an ask that I know is likely to get their attention and piss them off? That's an acceptable risk I am knowingly taking. When I'm just going about my life as a RPer, it isn't.
So, I don't feel like you're overthinking it or being too concerned! In no way did you sign up for getting unwanted attention, and because it has happened before, of course, you're trying to insulate yourself from having it happen again. That's totally reasonable!
Now, what you could do about it...
It's another of those situations in which we're only truly capable of controlling ourselves. Everyone else is kind of a NPC.
You don't have to do anything I'm suggesting, but these are things I would do!
I would block the shit out of anyone saying these things/trying to make them stipulations, yes.
By that, I mean that I would also visit blogs they appear to interact with and they'd be blocked as well. We can all reblog something like resources or a shit post from a user we do not agree with without realizing it, but when it's frequent reblogs, direct support, and friendly vibes going on, it's safer to assume that they are aware their friend sucks. More importantly, that they do not think their friend sucks and support their views.
Even if that is not the case, do you want someone else's repeated inattention to expose you to bad actors? Nope! So, don't run the risk of paying and otherwise interacting with the one resource blog in the group that doesn't express these views/"requirements," but does involve themselves with those who do.
Try to find people selling these resources, that are not connected to the problem ones, who do not have those views. Once a trend starts, it is very hard to stop until it has run its course naturally, so, this might be difficult and take some extreme effort. You might want to consider asking like-minded friends who use psd's where they got them so you can check those users out for yourself.
If they're all the same, problem, people...
Look for users well outside of your corner of the RPC(s) who are not asking to be paid. I know it sounds wild, but there really are RPers out there who just enjoy making things for others! I can think of at least one right off on my dash. They might not be advertising for doing psd's or psd packs, but either they might be willing to do so (especially if they do not appear policing-positive) if you explain what is going on, or they could at least fill some requests for you for fully made icons and such. Hell, people who love doing this work usually know others who do as well, and anti-policing people quite reasonably stick together. They could have suggestions for someone not vile selling psd's.
Depending on what it is you want your psd's to do, I promise you that it wouldn't take you very long to learn it. I know...I know lol that's both really easy for me say when I've been doing it for over twenty years and am about to piss some people off. The latter because the most common settings on popular psd's are extremely simple shit, a lot of that is the kind of thing you're expressly told not to do in design work. Like ramping up extreme contrast, pixelating the fuck out of an image, and turning up the primary colors only. Once you get to playing with photoshop or an equivalent, you will totally see what I mean. You can accidentally make an icon look identical to something that is on trend in the RPC. If that was what you were going for? You've hit the mark, and it's just repetition and tweaking it here and there!
Once you start playing with it, too, it's actually pretty intuitive when it comes to the basic things like resizing, adjusting colors and contrast, and doing easy effects like blurs and sharpening. Frankly, playing with it is better than half the tutorials you'll find because they get unnecessarily complicated when all you want to do is crop your muse's face, overlay some color, and add a damn dotted border. Listen, like I said, I have a lot of experience...and I find many tutorials frustrating and overwhelming!
It is not just you, you're not dumb or anything. People get very comfortable with something and when they try to explain it to others, they use terms and methods that are more advanced or specific to them than they realize. That's all!
If you have friends who make their own things, ask them some very basic questions about what you want to do. They know you, so, they'll know better how to explain to you, specifically. Just keep it simple until you've had some time to experiment! Ask things like, "I want to take this image, resize it to be an icon, and add an orange tint to the image while sharpening only my muse's features...how would I do that? Easy mode?"
And! You don't even have to pay for photoshop or pirate it anymore! Photopea is as an exact copy as possible entirely located in your browser for free. It's all overwhelming at first, a real case of too many options and ways to do the same thing, but the only way it gets less overwhelming is just diving into it. Dive in, get a little frustrated, have some successes, make some awesome discoveries, it gets a bit addicting in short order. Then, the tutorials and tips are so much easier to figure out and expand on, too.
If you'd like, you can always send me a pm here and ask me. I'm happy to try to explain how to do things, zero judgment or impatience. Just an additional option if you both decide to try learning and would feel comfortable doing that. Zero judgment as well on not wanting to do either of those things!
Okay, this one is much harder than learning PS basics because it's honestly a bit terrifying...the way these people are, they're going to take issue with you no matter what you do, and in the end, if they notice you and feel like bothering you, they will. There's literally nothing you can do about it. All you can do is try to buffer yourself, stay away from them, and be aware that you are not the problem.
Like with the AO3 thing or writing what could be viewed as toxic relationships. You can never write or be interested in a single, solitary thing that they're on about (and accusing you of doing in real life when the burning Eye of Moron turns your direction), but to them, you supporting the right of other people to do so is just as bad as doing it yourself. To them, the toxic relationships not only would be problematic, they'd be problematic enough. Being uncomfortable with their policing and feeling unsafe because of it is, to them, a red flag of how problematic you are. Writing anything they've deemed objectionable (or reading or viewing it, for that matter) anywhere, doesn't have to be on this platform or RP-adjacent, doesn't have to actually utilize any of their materials, is enough.
They're absolutely including you in who shouldn't use their shit. That's part of the "logic" and methodology of policing. Everyone is problematic, so, everyone can be labeled a pedo and harassed without too many people getting up in arms about it. No one is safe, so, everyone better behave. You don't actually have to be engaging with or enjoying things like underage, non/dubcon, rape, abusive relationships, etc.
It's gross, it's bullying, it's actually a problem...and there isn't much you can do.
All that is truly up to you is making an effort to avoid them, though, this is very often unfair and likely to get more unfair as resource blogs of all sorts deal in it more. At least, in this case, you do have some small bit of actionable power - by not ever buying from them. They wouldn't be charging if they did not either need or want the money, not giving it to them is a bigger hit than things like simply unfollowing/blocking, reblogging PSA's, and so on is!
Nope, it isn't like you're denying them some extreme amount of money by yourself, but every three, five, ten dollars is felt pretty hard when you desperately need money and/or are saving for something.
I know, I mean, I personally do know, that it's impossible to "get over" bullying, Anon. I'm in no way telling you to just get over it and move on, find some great well of not caring somewhere! What I'm saying is that there is power in not giving them power. The power to make you anxious, uncomfortable, unsafe, when you have every right to be here doing your thing and are not hurting anyone. And it might seem to be a deeply contrary sort of logic, but realizing and accepting that there are people out there who irrationally dislike you for literally no reason, that you cannot infallibly escape or avoid, despite doing nothing wrong is a bit empowering. Because it puts into perspective the things you can control, and when we know what is in our control, it's easier to just enjoy our time here without constantly waiting for the other shoe to drop. If it drops, we can go put it back in the closet where it belongs.
It starts to put a positive spin on the whole, damned if I do, damned if I don't feeling, if that makes sense? I'm probably way too tired to try to be explaining this lol I'm sorry!
Anyway, again, I'm not implying you can or should do any, let alone all, of those suggestions! I just really hope that something will help you feel even a little bit more at ease. It's an unfair situation, it isn't right, and you have every reason to be uncomfortable and stressed. If I could make it happen, you better believe that every policing asshole out there would be writing heartfelt apology letters and sending donations to everyone they've upset lol but...since I can't make that happen, all I can do is say what I, personally, do, would do, or have done.

Tumblr media
「    this is a total, 100% “woe-is-me” negativity post, so be warned. I try not to post anything too personal or emotional on this blog, but the truth is, I need an outlet right now. I don’t have a personal tumblr anymore, and tbh, I don’t really want to put this on FB where all my IRL friends would see it. I’m putting this under a read more so y’all can scroll on by and not worry about it. But also, it’s here, so it ain’t a secret. If you want to watch a train wreck, read on.
» » » The moral of this story is going to be that for the next couple of days, I’m gonna be less present on the dash, and just tending to my drafts ( along with developing my OC more because he brings me joy rn ).
Wow, you clicked the Read More. Aren’t you a sick fuck ? Just kidding, you’re my kind of people. I hope your popcorn is ready. If are you continuing, I’d like to give you some disclaimers : literally none of the following is directed at any one individual or group of individuals. There is not an ounce of guilt that’s meant to be transferred. This is 100% my own bullshit as I’m dealing with me. I’m going to complain about RP, but please keep that in mind ; this is all about my own insecurities.
To start, everyone is dealing with a lot right now, let’s not have any delusions about that. Shit in general fucking blows. Personally speaking, I don’t like talking about my emotions or the things truly bothering me. I guarantee that if I ever whine about something, then there’s something much deeper that’s effecting me. As of right now, I’ve identified both : the surface issue that I’m taking my frustrations out on, and the deeper problems that’s the root of what’s going on.
So let’s start with the the deep shit, shall we ? This’ll give better insight as to why I’m struggling mentally with RP at the moment. I’m the kind of person IRL that’s a loner. I’m in my 30′s, but I’ve never had a serious relationship in my life. I don’t have a lot of friends ( but I do have a couple of really good ones ). I tend to just deal with shit on my own. I live alone, I take care of myself. And honestly, all of that is ok because there’s something magical that I have had : my career. I moved to the other side of the country at a young age by myself with one goal, and that was to edit film trailers. And goddamn it, in April 2019, I DID IT ! I mean, I’ve been in that industry since day 1, climbing the ladder, but last April, I was promoted to editor. It was the greatest feeling in the world. I still had a long way to go to prove myself, but I felt like my whole life was worth it for the place that I made it to. Well, this past March ( yes, just 2 weeks shy of my 1st year mark as an editor ) I was laid off due to COVID. Now, I’ve gotten a couple of odd editing jobs here and there, but I’m floundering. I suddenly can’t pay my bills, I can’t even buy proper groceries, but worst of all ? I just sit around all day. Alone. In my apartment. With no sense of direction or purpose. I feel like I lost a whole part of myself ; like I lost who I am as a human being. It’s this terrible, downward spiral of feeling like I don’t even exist anymore. Like who am I without the one thing I identified myself as ? Do I even matter anymore ? My friends are still working, but I’m.... not. I may not have been the pretty one, the witty one, the interesting one, or the loved one, but goddamnit, I was the independent one. I didn’t live a glamorous life, but I have a sweet apartment in a great area all by myself, and traveled, and treated myself to expensive clothing. I lived that Destiny Child’s Independent Woman life. And now ? It’s a big deal trying to decide if I can afford to buy cheese for my turkey sandwiches.
So let’s move this sob story onto the superficial, dumbass things that are bothering me. Like that’s real world shit right ? But I don’t like dwelling on real world problems. I handle it and move on. Yet my heart still hurts so I tend to focus on something less important as my excuse. Enter literally the only other thing I have going on rn RP. Man, I have the best writing partners and the best threads, let me tell you ! When I say I love my dash, I’m not just blowing smoke up y’all’s asses. I mean it. Sometimes I just sit and stare at my drafts in awe. But lately, my brain is frustrated. See, I’m not the Indie RP type. I can’t deal with a thousand different threads and interact with everyone, as much as I’d like to. My brain just doesn’t work that way. I prefer to live in my small corner and have a partner with whom our muses are deeply developed. Like full on universes with stories about different parts of their relationship’s timeline and with NPCs and fucking pinterest boards and shit. Y’all know what I’m talking about. A partner who tags me in shit because they see a post on their dash and it made them think of me. A partner who can just send my muse random asks about shit because they’re bored. A partner I can throw wild fangirly comments at in DMs at all hours of the day because something inspired me, or something made me think of our muses. You see, I had it once. On my Dean Winchester account, I met someone and our muses man... we didn’t plan that shit but they clicked and we were inseparable. It was so amazing. But I can’t write Dean anymore and even though I’m still very good friends with that mun IRL, they don’t write anymore. I feel like I’ve been chasing that high ever since, but it’s just gone.
Like, I just did that positivity night, right ? I really needed the boost and nothing helps like giving out compliments, and it worked. Believe me. I was so tickled by the responses and getting to force myself to think of wonderful things about my partners ( which is easy to do, lbr ). But a couple of people went above and beyond and sent it in as a request for someone else. God, how fucking cool ? But then my stupid brain takes over and reminds me that I don’t have a partner going out of their way like that for me. And god, what a selfish thing to think, right ? This is all good vibes, and I genuinely wanted to make other people smile, but I can’t help but have half my mind say “but what about me ?”. So lame. Especially since I never ask for help so who is even gonna know that need the pick me up ? Ugh. But I’m too chickenshit to ever send someone a meme to make them compliment me. Hell, I’m too chickenshit to like people’s posts when they ask for mains. A voice in my head is like “nah man, keep that shit for other, more qualified candidates. You have good threads, calm down.” But I dunno, sometimes I feel like I have a ton of threads, but that’s all they are ? The fillers ? Sure, it’s great writing, but it doesn’t go anywhere. It’s not meant to build anything for people, it’s just to give them something to do to pass the time while they’re building universes with their mains.
Could I be more selfish ? Like really. But that’s the thing : it’s my desolate feeling of complete lack of purpose in life bleeding into the one thing I’m trying to keep my mind distracted with. Do I hate RP ? No. Do I resent anyone on my dash ? Fuck no ! I love all of you and I’m incredibly grateful for anyone that interacts with me. But sometimes I see some magical friendships here and I just... I want that, man. I miss it. I want purpose again, in any facet of my life. I want to be excited again ; about ANYTHING. I’m tired of bobbing around like a cork on the sea of life.
I wish I meant more.    」

Five Headcanons
Five Headcanons
Tagged by @eilitheandiel and @moonbaki. This ended up taking forever and going into more detail than I intended it to. But it does help me fill in the blanks of what Vel is spending her time on off screen.
1. Countess of Duskwatch: Vel really doesn’t behave like traditional nobility would when it comes to the overseeing of Duskwatch. The title itself is one she is fond of but her approach to governing the region of the Golden Isle is modeled on the way Dead Sun itself is governed. As Dead Sun is governed by a council of Sun Speakers, Duskwatch has a council made up of various voices from the community. Council meetings are held once a week and any citizen may attend for the sake of transparency. A second weekly meeting is held for anyone to bring up any issues to the council.
While she makes final decisions on important matters, Vel tends to accept the will of the council and only uses her authority in the event an issue is particularly contentious. Even then she will encourage more discussion over the issue in hopes of reaching compromises before just using her authority. This can lead to extra meetings.
This approach to handling things was influenced heavily by Dead Sun Harbor, Eilithe and Kurel in some ways and is much different than how the Vel of a few years ago would have approached things.
2. Lady of Darkwake Oblique: Vel approachs Darkwake Oblique differently than she does Duskwatch. More like the Vel of the past would have handled things. It is also more of what she was familiar with. It is meant to be a contrast. And while her approach to Duskwatch is representative of her current influences and present self, her approach toward the Oblique is representative of her past influences and aspects of her past self.
Vel is far less concerned for the input of others in governing the Oblique, far less transparent, and very controlling. Vel inherited the title from Lady Quel’vuran, and since has struggled to establish her legitimacy among other nobles of Quel’thelas. To many traditionalists she is shunned for being a commoner who inherited a title. Lady Quel’vuran’s reputation was not particularly positive to begin with, so Vel has had to spend time rebranding a bit. Given that the Oblique could easily be targeted by rival houses, Vel has also felt pressured to build up some forces to discourage intimidation tactics from more militant houses. Additionally she inherited some of Lady Quel’vuran’s personal enemies (this ties into headcanon 5).
The process has been slow, but Vel has been able to start to gain a few allies and ward off some critics, and is starting to be seen as legitimate. She still lacks firm connections among the nobility in Quel’thelas. And even just useful contacts in the area, as she spends less time there. She has a few, but much needs to be done still.
She still takes overseeing the Oblique quite seriously but has been pushing a rock uphill to be seen as legitimate and improve the public perception.
3. Contacts: Vel still maintains various contacts she’s made from her time as a diplomat, and still has some legitimate political connections that she’s made. She also still maintains some less savory connections from some of the other circles she used to run in, but Vel has never been one to write anyone off if they may still be useful.
This rarely comes up in rp, but networking used to be a large part of what Vel did. And I feel like it is still a big part of who she is, and even though she may not actively be networking as much, she still has a few important contacts for when she finds herself in a pinch. And is always looking for more.
4. Parents: Vel’s biological father (who she has zero memory of) is still very alive and still a bastard. He has sold Vel off - twice when she was a baby, and would probably sell her again if he could find a way to do it.
She is oblivious to his existence and she would find him to be a very disappointing creature as he is not even an ambitious criminal, he is just a criminal, who is just kind of a shit person.
While Vel is oblivious to his existence, he does keep track of his daughter and her successes and feels entitled to some of that success.
This is just a plot idea I have never fully pulled the trigger on - as I am unsure how I want to handle it. But it is always there. Waiting. Much like this next one,
5. Enemies in Waiting: While Vel is far better at making friends than she is enemies, she has a few figures from her past that seek her out as an enemy.
There are members from rival sects (cults), from back when Vel was in one of those. There are also others who seek items from her archives. There are a few groups of under the radar Light types that just want to purge Vel from existence.
Like Vel’s father these are just potential conflicts I have for possible Rp in the future. Vel’s past coming back to mess with her present is an idea that I play with a lot, but haven’t really tapped into much (as I have not fully fleshed out the ideas), but yea. There are enemies - laying in wait. If they ever tie into something going on, I may make use of them. Otherwise it just stuff in headcanon. She is aware of a few of them but some are likely to blindside her. There are plenty of reasons to see Vel as an enemy for those that - knew her in various phases of her life.

Wyda is officially retired...for now. She had a good run, and I loved writing for her! GOD the existential dread I felt as I drew closer and closer to running the event that would end her.
Her story continues through another. Give a follow here! :D
I’ll be keeping this blog up as an archive, although I might still post every now and again. But since her arc is done, here goes! An unedited, unfiltered slurry of words-directly-from-brain-to-keyboard about Wyda! I’m warning you, this is true farm fresh to you stuff. And spoilers for many events in FF14. Read on if you dare.
Tumblr media
Strap in, it’s going to be a long and bumpy ride.
Did I say that I love Primals?
Primal lore gives the FF14 devs a lot of creative freedom when it comes to designing bosses. Want the arena changed? Want something/someone to look absolutely wack? Want to spin up a threat without having a villain train for years prior? Bam, primals.
It also gives us, the players, the same creative freedoms when it comes to roleplaying!
The requirements to summon one are humorously low. At first, primals result from misguided and zealous beastmen shenanigans. Ifrit, Titan, Ramuh, Leviathan, Garuda...but then we get a bunch of weird summonings. Like when Ga Bu summons a funky version of Titan through his despair alone. Or when Yotsuyu brings forth Tsukuyomi because she really, really wants to see the world burn. Hell, Gilgamesh just thinks about his friend Enkidu in the presence of some crystals, and that’s enough to bring forth a primal. So I guess the only requirements for a primal summoning are 1) crystals and 2) thinking kinda hard? Strong feelings, especially negative ones, seem to be more effective but then again! What the heck happened with Gilgamesh? Who knows?!
But this is one of my favorite things in FF14. It’s a powder keg of a situation that will, and HAS, gone off multiple times.
Being tempered, meanwhile, is a fate worse than death. You’re forced to change sides and fight for the enemy. You don’t even find peace when you die - tempered souls linger in Eorzea thanks to how messed up they are by the process. But you don’t become a mindless servant either. *Points to Emet-Selch who is....kinda...on your side (???) but also on Zodiark’s side*
Things aren’t nearly as dark now that tempering can be cured. I’m very thankful, since otherwise my campaign would’ve had a very, very depressing ending. One that I originally planned for but STILL. I’m weak. ;_;
Riding off the Rails
Primal lore is flexible. In ARR, the rules are established, but later expansions took those rules and went “Well, what about this? And this? And this?” In other words, this is me admitting that I’m shameless and will stretch this lore until I reach the moon.
Developing Wyda was a ‘chicken first, egg later’ sort of situation. Though trite, I gave her amnesia in order to give myself an excuse for knowing nothing about FF14 lore (and because I was new to roleplaying). When I finally sat down to flesh her out, my mind kept returning to primals. I love ‘em and their potential for drama! So yeah, I was determined to make it work.
There were a lot of questions I had to answer. If Wyda is a primal, then why isn’t she tempering everyone she meets?! How is she getting away with being a ‘normal’ person? And how do I avoid power creep? I know, for a fact, that if I walked into an RP event and just said...hey. My character is a primal, are you cool with that? The answer would be a solid no. Nooooo! I’d tell that to myself! So I wanted to solve these questions in a fair way that would allow others (and myself) to remain immersed in the roleplaying world. Luckily, FF14 lore is like a bottomless chest of building blocks. It was just a matter of stacking them carefully.
Primals are summoned when someone thinks around some crystals (Ah, Gilgamesh...)
The primal’s purpose is based on the summoner’s desires, but with a monkey’s paw twist (Ga Bu’s Titan punching the other kobolds away is indicative of this)
The amount of aether used in the summoning determines how powerful the primal will be (Shinryu being beefy as hell)
Primals can be summoned out of thin air, or be channeled into someone’s body
When a primal is channeled, the summoner needs the Echo to resist (Ysalye and Ryne). Otherwise the summoner is tempered by their own creation.
Now, with those blocks in hand, I started spitballing...and it led me to this thought. If a primal’s purpose is to NOT be a primal, what happens?
Would they know that they’re a primal?
Can they still use their primal powers?
What happens when the primal is based off of someone who still exists?
For Wyda, I chose to swing this way.
Her memory is garbage because she’s a primal based on someone else. Even if you know someone really well, you can’t perfectly recreate/emulate them.
She’s normal-powered because all her primal magic is going towards suppressing her powers. Extremely inefficient. And she’s very human-like because she’s possessing someone else’s body, as opposed to being made purely of primal aether.
Primals temper whether they want to or not - aether leaks, and it corrupts. To solve this for Wyda, instead of leaking aether out of the wazoo...thanks to the nature of her summoning, she just leaks a tiny bit all the time. Not enough to temper.
But I also wrote myself into a corner. If Wyda isn’t going to behave like a primal, then how does she exist for so long? They need a constant source of aether to survive, and she’s not doing primal stuff since she’s too busy being human. And so...the answer is that she doesn’t. Once her aether runs out, then poof.
See? Fun! (But also pain. So much pain.)
Playing with Fire
Eorzea (like most fantasy RPG settings) is a nightmare factory. Most, if not all, who make their living ‘adventuring’ are scarred from what they have to face. For every success story (WoL), there are countless more tragedies (Avere). And even if you survive...who wouldn’t get trauma if you were an adventurer and it was normal for your buddies to be eaten by a beast, tempered by a primal, possessed by a ghost?
Which is to say, Wyda's scars run deep. Shit goes down.
To repeat that in slightly more words: Wyda is an accidental byproduct of Cravendy’s grief and longing. At her lowest moment, Cravendy (a Seawolf pirate) thinks of her friend Dots and the unfairness of it all. And oops, there are crystals nearby. So now, we got Wyda walking around in Cravendy’s body, thinking that she’s someone named Dots. By the way, Dots is still alive! Very awkward.
Wyda is a denial incarnate. She is Cravendy’s dream for safety, family, and happiness for Dots. But denial does not erase the past, nor does it change how you feel. By existing, Wyda suppresses those feelings for Cravendy and freezes the other woman in the past. With the both of them like this, Cravendy will never accept her trauma and Wyda will be plagued with a stranger’s guilt.
Primal souls are weird. I have no idea where they come from, but they seem separate from the summoner’s. So as Wyda’s influence wanes, Cravendy’s soul begins to resurface. This forces Wyda into a cycle of self-discovery and self-destruction that, unfortunately, convinces Wyda that she ought to disappear. It’s a tragic conclusion she reaches after having her worldview shattered. She’s a copy of Dots, she’s a primal. What’s real, and what’s not? What even matters?
The Power of Love
Love is a persistent theme for all of my characters. For Cravendy, love is why she hurts, so she would rather forget it than bear any more pain. But Wyda is the opposite - she loves too much. When all else is a sham, Wyda trusts that the love she feels is real. And ultimately, this love dooms Wyda and saves Cravendy.
Wyda’s fatal flaw is her self-destructive selflessness. Thanks to being mistaken for Dots all the time, Wyda develops a low sense of self. Then events of the campaign erode that into nothingness. She’s a second rate copy full of brittle memories, she’s a fake! And discovering Cravendy’s sleeping soul only pushes Wyda further into her flaw. Here is my purpose, she thinks! My original! And I’ll save her no matter what, because she deserves to live!
But it’s a mistake. Certainly, Cravendy is saved, but Wyda deserves to be saved too. Although she loves with all her heart, Wyda never learns to love herself and see her own self-worth. She doesn’t understand that her friends don’t share her view of herself - as a worthless copy that can only find value in saving another. Her selflessness loops into selfishness.
Maybe Wyda will come back...She certainly has a lot to learn still!
The TLDR version of all this is that I accidentally pulled a Kingdom Hearts plot with this character, and now I understand, Nomura. I UNDERSTAND WHY YOU BRING BACK YOUR CHARACTERS. ;_;

As explained in my -- prologue post, -- I’ll be playing through Persona 4 the Golden, and despite knowing/having access to a guide to obtain the true ending for the game, I’ll be making alternate theories based on what I observe in my playthrough.
Credits to Cyberman65 for some of the screenshots here, as I didn’t want to start a new playthrough to fill in the screenshots I was missing.
My negative thoughts will be RP’d as Dagda, for example: You are aware that Persona 4 the Golden is a Video Game, kid? And one about murders, too? You sure you’re not the REAL culprit behind all of this, for wanting to play such a game? You wanna be like the hero of a television show, don’t you? But the hero of a television show is no true hero at all. .
Tumblr media
Hey, that’s not true! Persona 4 is about stopping murders! Wanting to play a game about stopping the bad guys doesn’t make you a bad guy! And fiction can influence real life, for the better!
Huh. There’s that italized text again. Weird. Guess my finger slipped.
Tumblr media
So my gameplay difficulty is set to normal. I could do very hard if I wanted, but Persona 4 is long enough as is. Let’s begin.
Tumblr media
First, a disclaimer.
Wait, so this game’s about the power of the unconscious and mythology, and they say any similarity to real life is pure coincidence? Smells like red deer droppings, “kid.”
Eh all games have these disclaimers, nothing too weird. Life influences art influences life influences cosplayers having weird RP sex at sweaty convention halls
We meet this guy, purportedly named Igor. He welcomes me or the camera to the Velvet room, though it is a limousine.
Tumblr media
Bulging eyes, long nose, crossed hands, death stare - he really seems trustworthy doesn’t he?
Eh no more or no less than a green guy with his jawbone showing and a literal question mark on his face. Besides, true ugliness is on the inside.
Tumblr media
Igor claims that I have an intriguing destiny.
There’s a book called “The Darwin Awards” filled with folks who had intriguing destinies.
Maybe this one is actually intriguing, though!
Tumblr media
So the Velvet Room, or limo, or whatever is said to exist between dream and reality.
In other words, in your subconscious, right?
Well no, I’m pretty sure this is a video game screen, with a .png portrait, and 3D rendered models. Though I’ve had dreams about video games before, so column a and column b.
Tumblr media
So tautologically, I am bound by some sort of legal contract, otherwise how could I be here?
A contract? Singular? Think of all the EULAs you sign, terms of use, even the permission to go on field trips slips you agreed to.
Tumblr media
Oh, maybe I’m not tautologically bound by a contract. So wait am I trespassing, have I already signed the contract in the future, or-
Maybe contracts only have as much power as you think they have
Maybe contracts only have as much power as you allow them to have
Tumblr media
Sort of? The tarot draws from life, so in a way it is a conceptual mirror. But I’ve flipped a coin while thinking to myself really hard that if it landed heads a steak hoagie would manifest in my hand, and while the coin landed on heads, no such hoagie appeared.
Aye, there’s no steak save what we make for ourselves
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A disaster happens, followed by confusion and hesitation. If that’s fortune telling, then I don’t think a single sentient being ISN’T a fortune teller of some kind.
Perhaps this game is actually just a bachelor’s party and Igor is lamenting the player character’s soon to be gone single status. Why else have a limo?
Tumblr media
Will the mystery be “Why didn’t the old dream guy wear a seatbelt after predicting a misfortune at his limo’s destination?”
Tumblr media
Ah going for the old deterministic sell because I’m in your limo, are ya? What if I just deleted the game and watched paint dried? Fate = Not intriguing = Defied!
Alright so yada yada yada he wishes me luck on the mystery and the anime cutscene plays. Time for me to stop just recapping and start theorizing based on differences or details I didn’t notice during Persona 4′s Endurance Run.
Tumblr media
So this under 18 girl who we might encounter later on advertises a diet soda labeled calorie magic. If it possesses fantastic properties, that remains to be seen.
Tumblr media
Now the above scene I vaguely remember from Persona 4, but I’ll mark it as noteworthy because
1. The protagonist is shown saying farewell to his class(more accurately, his teacher saying farewell on his behalf, and his classmates being upset). This implies that the student is well liked. The teacher says “Now hold on, there’s more”, as if to assuage the students disappointment.
2. When on a train, the protagonist is wearing a traditional Japanese school uniform as opposed to the dress code the school he leaves abides by. Dress codes might be important.
Tumblr media
Now in Persona 4 Golden, the mystery starts out with the media reporting on an scandal, alleging that Enka Singing star Misuzu Hiiragi’s husband, Inaba Politician Taro Namtame, cheated on her with Mayumi Yamano(woman on the right).
Tumblr media
As the protagonist rides on the train, his head aches and a blurry scene plays that seems to show Mayumi Yamano being assaulted.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Having a memory of assaulting a woman and waking in a cold sweat - you sure you’re playing as the “detective” in this game?
Was it the memory of assault that made the hero wake in a cold sweat, or the memory of the velvet room?
Well, in any event... the hero gets off the train, and meets his uncle, Ryotaro Dojima, and his cousin Nanako(the younger girl).
Tumblr media
Oh come on, what are the odds you could show this screencap to some rando and convince them it was a game about being a male prostitute? Is he the hero’s uncle, or is he his “uncle?”
Giving earnest compliments doesn’t hurt anyone.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hm. Since Dojima is very specific about calling himself the hero’s younger brother, and not the hero’s uncle, I guess it might be an incorrect deduction to say he is the hero’s uncle.
Tumblr media
He is at once both close and distant from the protag.
No matter how ya look at it kid, it’s a power move. Not calling himself your kin, but reminding you of when you were a bawling infant, mewling, weak, and wetting yourself.
Tumblr media
Uncle or the protagonist’s mother’s younger brother, Dojima views Nanako as the protagonist’s cousin. Nanako is shy.
Here’s where the divergences from Persona 4 start to happen.
Tumblr media
An unfriendly looking girl wearing kneesocks picks a piece of paper up off the ground and claims that the protagonist dropped it.
Tumblr media
The protagonist handwrote a note for Dojima’s address. Always good to be prepared analog style. Doesn’t this game take place in 2011?
That’s all the space I have for part 1. Next post will build on some of the differences, a character’s proactive and suggestive nature, and even some of the trivia learned at school.

Twitter: @DaRonAndOnly twitter.com/DaRonAndOnly Discord: TheRonAndOnly#6331 And also ask me and Ronic questions on CuriousCat: curiouscat.me/DaRonAndOnly
Name: Ronic
Nickname: The Blue Comet
Species: Hedgehog
Age: 18
Sex: Male
Sexuality: Straight
Height / Weight: 3’2” / 35kg
Affiliation: Hero
Personality:
Ronic is the most kind hearted, selfless and friendliest hedgehog you’ll meet, always running around and helping others wherever he goes. Although a little naïve, Ronic is always willing to help out anyone he meets for no reward, be it rescuing them or being someone to talk to or a shoulder to cry on.
A teenager with the mind of an 8 year old, Ronic is an enthusiastic, energetic, young at heart and a big kid. Always excited about something and always happy, people seem to believe he is never sad.
He is a fun, warm, thoughtful, compassionate and trustworthy individual that likes making new friends. Whomever he meets, he wants to get know and understand them. If they are going through any turmoil in their life, he tries his best to help them the best that he can. He always sees the good in people and the potential in them that they might not see in themselves.
As he has trouble remembering his past, Ronic instead lives for the here, now and for the future. He’s always looking ahead and racing down a brand new, unknown and uncertain path. This makes him very spontaneous and loves anything new, be that a new friend or finding a new place on his travels.
He seizes the day and enjoys every new moment like he has just been born.
But this also makes him very impulsive, reckless and foolish. Rushing head long into things without thinking them through. Always speaking his mind without thinking before he speaks, but that is only because he speaks from his heart.
His naivety goes hand in hand with his mild stupidity, leaving him very scatter-brained and sometimes forgetful. But just because he might not have a lot on his mind, it means that he’s a lot more open minded than others.
Ronic also wears a mask. Not a physical one but an emotional one. As previously mentioned, Ronic seems to be always happy and people believe he is never sad. But if you can get him alone, talk to him and asking the right questions to get him to open up, you’ll find that Ronic is actually hiding how scared, afraid, lonely and sad he truly feels.
He is scared and afraid of being on a brand new world he knows nothing about, knowing no-one on this world, having no-one to help him and of the pressure he feels knowing he has to take on an ancient evil that threatens to destroy the universe. How can the universe expect him to save it, when he doesn’t even know who he is?
Due to losing all of his memories when becoming Ronic, what hurts him in the most is that he doesn’t know who he really is. He doesn’t remember his planet or his family. He doesn’t know where he belongs, as he can no-longer remember where he originally came from. Backstory:
At the beginning of time and the birth of every universe, 3 constants were created that governed existence itself. Chaos, Destruction and Peace. They spread out throughout the blankness of space and became the building blocks to every world in every universe. Chaos created life, destruction created death and peace kept the balance between the two. On many worlds, evolution happened and civilizations rose and fell with these 3 constants ever present.
In the early years of the universe’s creation, the power of each constant grew as their influence spread throughout the universe.
They were given different names by different races and different cultures.
In one universe, an enormous battle took place between the three spirits. Chaos and Destruction fought for their dominion, whereas Peace understood that this universe needed both Destruction and Chaos to exist.
Their battle ended with all three becoming severely weakened and were stripped of their incorporeal forms and became corporal.
The Spirit of Destruction took the form of a gigantic, demonic dragon and was imprisoned within the nearest planet of their battle, a planet called Nede.
The Spirit of Chaos crashed onto the Nede’s surface and fractured, its power splitting into 7 large Gem Stones and 1 larger Gem that would control the smaller 7. They would act as the keys to the lock that imprisoned Destruction and were kept on the furthest side of the planet, out of Destruction’s reach.
The Spirit of Peace also crashed landed on the planet’s surface, taking the form of a white, angelic anthropomorphic hedgehog with large wings.
The inhabitants of Nede, Nedians, found the injured Spirit of Peace lying on their planet’s surface, weakened from the fight.
The Spirit told them that the battle was not over and with time, Destruction would regain it’s strength and break free of his prison and threaten the universe once again. With Chaos now reduced to it’s new state, neither Chaos or Peace would be strong enough to stop him on their own.
The Spirit tasked the Nedians to form a society that would guard the temple of Destruction and create another temple to keep the Master Gem and 7 Gems of Chaos safe, bestowing on them this prophecy.
The prophecy was that when Destruction would re-awaken, a Nedian that embodies the strength and will to bring peace to everyone, would be chosen to become the vessel for the Spirit of Peace. With this, they would have enough power to use Chaos to fight and re-imprison Destruction.
The Spirit of Peace then went into a deep slumber, cocooning itself with a meteorite and flew off into the upper atmosphere of Nede. The Comet of Peace would remain circling the planet until the prophecy came true.
The Nedians gave the Spirits new names. Destruction became Hammon, Chaos became Ataxia and Peace remained.
The Guardians of the Temples of Hammon and Ataxia were given a special name. A name in our language would mean guardian, protector or more specifically, hero. But in Nedian, it was Ronic.
Each Ronic was gifted with a white scarf, whilst different races on the planet would have different colored scarfs. Hedgehog’s being black, birds being green, aquatic creatures being blue etc.
Eventually, the prophecy would come true and Hammon brought destruction across the planet as he awoke from his slumber, finally powerful enough to break free and continue it’s path of destruction.
A wave of destruction washed across the planet and all of Nede gathered at the last known safe space, the Temple of Ataxia.
As the wave grew closer and more powerful, the shield protecting The Temple of Ataxia was destroyed. Everyone feared for their lives. Except one.
One young enough and naïve enough to stand to a god of destruction and that always stood up to bullies. Rody stepped forward, arms out stretched to protect his family and his people.
As Hammon laughed and swung a strike to destroy the feeble creature that stood before him, the Comet of Peace finally came back down to Nede and engulfed Rody.
Rody was transformed and emerged as a taller, older and stronger hedgehog. His brown fur changed to a shiny and nice blue and his scarf from black to white. Rody had finally become a Ronic.
With the 7 Ataxia Gems and Master Ataxia Gem, Rody’s body transformed again to shining yellow and then a shining white, with what some would call angelic, glowing wings. And with the combined power of Ataxia and Peace, was able to save and restore Nede and weaken Hammon.
Unable to destroy him, Hammon was reduced to the form of a tall demonic, anthropomorphic dragon.
Not wanting to be beaten by the Spirit of Peace, Hammon used the Ataxia Gem’s power to open a dimensional rift. The rift sucked in the 7 Ataxia Gems into another dimension before jumping in after them, Hammon vowed that once he obtained the Ataxia Gems, he would not just destroy their universe, but every universe until his full power was restored.
The Spirit of Peace knew it had to leave this universe in order to travel to the other dimension to stop Hammon again. But for Rody, it would mean leaving Nede. Leaving his family.
Without Rody, the Spirit of Peace would still be too weak to fight Hammon. So, Rody agreed to help the Spirit. Not just to protect his family and planet, but every planet in the universe.
Sadly, this would come at a greater price. To make the transformation permanent, the Spirit of Peace would have to wipe Rody’s memories. Everything that made Rody who he was would remain, but he would have no re-collection of his past life. Rody sadly agreed and left Nede with the Spirit of Peace, becoming cocooned into a new comet, a Comet of Peace, to help travel through the universal rift.
On the other side of the dimensional rift was the universe containing Mobius and on one fateful day, a Blue Comet could be seen streaking across the planet’s sky before crashing onto its surface.
Emerging from said comet, a teenage looking blue hedgehog with a long fringe, white scarf, red and white boots and red and grey gloves took his first steps on a new planet.
Coming to the rescue of a bunch of Mobians under attack by Hell Hounds, a demonic large dragon / dog like creature, the scouts of Hammon’s demonic army he creates and controls, the blue hedgehog was asked his name. The blue hedgehog couldn’t remember his name. Only one word. A word that meant hero.
He spoke “Oh…I’m…I’m Ronic. Ronic The Hedgehog”.
Meanwhile, Hammon had also arrived on this planet and being able to sense the 7 Ataxia Gems energy, began to search for them, for they were the key to storing him to his Perfect form.
Unbeknown to both Hammon and Ronic, the dimensional rift that Hammon had created would have ramifications for not just their universe and the universe containing Mobius, but all universes…
Motivation:
To save, protect and help everyone he can. To find the Ataxia Gems, regain his memories, defeat Hammon once and for all and hopefully one day get back to his original home world and his family.
Abilities: The fastest thing alive on his own planet, but not the fastest thing alive on Mobius, Ronic has been gifted with the ability to run at super speed. Except that when Ronic is life-threatening peril or needs to go Plus Ultra to finish a fight, he’ll tap into his ability to travel at the speed of light.
Disappearing in an instant, Ronic takes the form of a blue streak of light and then reappears in a blue flash of light and twinkling, small blue stars around him. He can use it to deal a knock out punch or to save someone from imminent doom.
Forms:
Using his own form of energy known as Ataxia and when in possession of all 7 Ataxia Gems, Ronic is able to transform into Super Ronic, similar to that of Super Sonic.
With the 7 Ataxia Gems and Master Ataxia Gem, he is able to become Angelic Ronic, changing colour into a pure white, with a powerful white aura surrounding him and taking the form of two, large, angelic wings on his back.
Weakness:
The problem being is that Ronic has no full control over this power. He can only tap into it if he or someone else he cares about is in danger.
And even when he does use it, he is physically weaker after using it. He pants, sweats, falls to his knees and even faints or passes out due to the amount of energy it took out of him. It takes him at least a few hours before he has enough energy to use it again.
In short, he is a glass cannon. He is not a fighter and would rather run rings around his enemies than face them in a straight up brawl. He can take a few good licks, but in the long run, he’ll be out for the count in a few powerful punches.
Extra:
He loves corn dogs and can play the acoustic guitar, but that’s a secret so don’t tell anyone, okay? 😉

All About RP Icons For Beginners by Birdy
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hi OP, I’m not sure how experienced you are with all the nonsense surrounding the making and using of RP icons, so I’m gonna come at it as though you don’t have any experience with it at all and I’m sorry if that’s too simplified for you, but also if I’m gonna write many paragraphs about one topic I may as well make it accessible for as many people as possible ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
This post goes into what tools are out there for the popular methods of finding/making RP icons in the first half and my personal methodology for choosing and using them in my RP for the second half. This is a very surface level answer to the question and is not meant to be an in depth tutorial for the more labor intensive aspects of the process, but if you guys want more information and can’t find it elsewhere, please ask and I'll know what I should be talking about next.
Also I’m also contractually obligated to mention to the masses that I do take commissions both for the drawing of RP icons and the service of capping, cutting, recoloring, and framing canon icons. Sometimes I even post batches of canon character icons for free on this blog so like,,,,, hit me up if you want. But!! You don’t need me, you can absolutely do all of it yourself!!  I go into the broad strokes below.
Question 1: “How do you get icons?”
This is kind of a broad question and the answer depends on what your needs are. The right answer for you is gonna live in one of two camps
Find some that already exist that are free to use
Make them yourself / commission somebody else to make them for you.
What you'll choose is gonna depend a lot on your character first and foremost.  The big determining factor in most cases is whether or not the face you want has been in anything you can take pictures of.
If you have a canon character who exists in visible media--
--you're in luck! The chances of you finding some resources that exist already is higher when you have a canon character who is in at least a few pieces of media. OP asked about Pearl from Steven Universe, and she's a great example of a character with a lot of resources. Searching for rp icons of a popular character will often yield packs of icons on Tumblr, Dreamwidth, Livejournal, etc. Most of these will be completely free to use or have very reasonable conditions for use (like credit the person who made them for example.)  It's often a good first step to see what preexisting resources are available to you even if you still plan on making your own icons.
If you have an OC or a character that's not all that popular--
--you're gonna fall into the second camp. If you want icons, you have to have them made. So what are your options?
Help! My character appears in no media! What are my options?
If your character appears in no media you're in a tough spot. Different people approach this problem in different ways.
Face Claims
One option you have is to choose a face claim to represent your character. In roleplay a face claim or ‘FC’ is a person or character whose appearance you use for the physical description of your character. I personally am not big on doing this, I prefer drawn icons and I tend to RP as animated characters, but some people really like using celebrities and stuff to represent their characters.  When I was playing Angus McDonald he hadn't appeared in any visual media yet, so I sometimes used Bryce Clyde Jenkins as the face claim for certain types of threads.
If you're somebody who likes to use face claims there are loads of resources out there for finding the perfect one, including here on tumblr. Try searching up RP Faceclaim Directory and playing around with some of the ones that pop up.
DIY RP Icons
The other option you have is to create those icons from scratch. Draw them yourself based on icons you like or commission an artist to draw some for you.   If you can't draw yourself, I've seen some people get really creative with this. Some people create their character in the sims, dollmakers, or their favorite RPG and then take screenshots of that to use for icons.  There's also no law that says every icon you use has to be your character's face. When I was writing a trashy mermaid AU I got a lot of mileage out of icons that depicted harbor and oceanic scenes with no actual faces. Get creative, go nuts, have fun.
Icons Aren’t That Important
The other thing to remember that icons are not a must in many RP circles. It's perfectly possible to have a great time and write cool stuff without any pictures at all. Depending on your platform of choice there are probably also other interesting ways you can make your posts unique to you by formatting the text or using symbols or emojis or otherwise denoting your personal style in text.
Help! My character appears in lots of media! How do I make icons?
Again, there are a million and one answers to this question and it really depends on what tools are available to you and what your preferences are. This section is not a tutorial but it will outline some of the options you can look into.
The icon making process is typically in 2 stages-- stage 1: get all your images of your character, and stage 2: edit all of those images into icons.
If you have access to the source material, any version of Photoshop, and software that automates the collection screencaps from video (KM Player, VLC, etc) you're pretty much gucci. You're gonna have no problem getting loads of nice icons in a reasonably short amount of time and there are a million different tutorials on how to use those things whichever way you prefer.
If you don't have access to those things you still have options.
You can still screencap things manually, and you can screencap in batches by holding down the windows key and pressing PrtSc any time you want to save an image. They should be saving to >pictures>screenshots unless you’ve set things up differently. It’s a good way to take a lot of screenshots without stopping in between.
( EDIT / UPDATE: to say that if you use automation for taking screencaps remember to turn that shit off when you’re not using because it oh mylanta it WILL continue to take images without you realizing. Figured out where all my disk space has been going with this rookie mistake, thanks OP)

Additionally, PhotoScape X is a really great little tool for windows and mac that I've never seen anybody talk about, but I use it sometimes and it's totally free with the exception of a few paid features I’ve never once needed or wanted. This program is not as efficient as using Photoshop but it has presets for cropping images easily as well as batch editing options for some basic borders and color retouching.  While it’s not as powerful as Photoshop, you can get a lot done with it reasonably quickly compared to other choices. You can also take and edit snips of anything on your screen with it, which is really really useful if you don’t have access to the video or image files you would need on your hard drive for other version of this process.  The program looks like this:
Tumblr media
Also, not to be like a minimalist about it, but you can also just fucken use Microsoft Paint or whatever you have. Like, whatever, there’s no law. You graphics dont have to be comlpex or deep fried. Half of my icons have been made or edited in paint at some point. It wont be as fast as some of these other methods but a lot of us aren't out here making icons in batches of 100 at a time.
Anything that you can use to make smallish images of your characters face will work to make icons.
If you want more information about any of these methods of icon creation let me know and I’ll talk about them.
Question 2: “How do you make your icons ‘work’ in posts?”
I'm a little confused on what you mean by "make them work" so I'm gonna cover my bases here. I'm assuming what you're getting at is a sort of sense of cohesion in the icons I use, or having the "right" expression for the scene I'm writing. Either that or them not stretching and looking weird thanks to tumblr. I’ll get to both of those.
And before I go into my own rationale for icon choices I feel I should point out that a lot of people who aren't me do successfully manufacture cohesion out of their images by doing fun stylistic things like recoloring their images all the same way or putting cute borders and stuff around them or making them fun shapes, and that's totally something you can learn how to do if it interests you.  I do this for icons commissioned by other people and I’m not against talking about how to do those things, but I don’t really bother with them for my own icons all that much. That stuff is all fun and it’s a neat thing you could get into that can make your icons all look really nice together.
BUT ANYWAY --
Since the character you asked about is Pearl, I’m going to focus on her. Nearly all of my Pearl icons are completely unedited and a lot of the credit I would have to give regarding icon quality goes to Pearl herself and the consistently good lighting that the show uses. I don’t have a huge need for editing or color retouching beyond making memes or whatever other goofy things I might be getting up to. Pearl is extremely expressive compared to other characters I have written and since she's in nearly every episode, I've managed to collect…
Tumblr media
...oh god, that’s too many icons.
Pearl is a main character and I've been RPing as her for over 6 years now so I have a fuckload of images to choose from and I'm not gonna pretend that doesn't help when I wanna “make things work”. She gives me a lot of options.
That said, you absolutely don't need 3000 images to make a good post. The way I've collected and organized these images may be of use to you even if you dont have as many icons. I've done a lot with my setup to make finding the right icon very easy.
For starters, a minor subset of my Pearl icons are grouped by a particular defining feature. I have one large Pearly folder full of icons and then a few smaller folders inside for icons I thought worth grouping separately. For example, all icons of SUF Pearl in her new jacket are in the same folder. All icons of Pearl in short term alternate outfits are in the same folder. Anything I sourced from Attack the Light is in its own folder. I do this with anything that has a very specific use, such as writing AU content or flashbacks to specific time periods. If I can picture an icon in my head, I usually know where in my ridiculous hell collection to go to find it.
Tumblr media
This folder was originally just for her pre-canon outfit but now all of her outfits that only appeared temporarily are in there.
Perhaps more important for the sake of cohesion is that nearly all of my icons that aren’t squirreled away in some smaller folder are loosely arranged by episode. What that means is that most of the time I have icons from the same scene right next to one another. It makes it incredibly easy to make my RP replies appear as though it's all one cohesive scene even if I use more than one icon. When you do it this way it becomes very easy to choose icons that have the same lighting or that appear to lead from one expression seamlessly into another. Exhibit A:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
While the vast majority of my icons are numbered, I do take the time to name ones I find myself using a lot or that have particularly unique expressions. Usually I'll choose names that I'll find descriptive or easy to remember based on the context of the icon. You can have a lot of fun with that and never lose your favorites.
Tumblr media
Also don't be afraid to lean on icons you got from weird places if you like them.  The icons of Pearl from the official comics run don’t look like most of what I have. I think them being different would turn a lot of RPers off, but I use them a lot because I like the style and I almost never see other Pearl RPers using them.  It either makes me stand out or it makes me tacky, one of the two, haven’t figured out which, but also I’m not stopping.
Tumblr media
And just to reiterate, you can use icons that aren’t your character if they’re thematically relevant or vague enough to look like them. When I’m capping I’ve started saving a folder of miscellaneous environments of interests, hands, and other everyday types of scenery that appear in the thing I’m taking screencaps of.
Tumblr media
You can use any size you want for RP icons but the most common is 100x100 or 150x150 pixels.  Any smaller than that and the image gets to be difficult to read and work with in my opinion. That doesn’t stop people, of course, but I’m elderly and need glasses now, so no tiny icons for me.  On that note, I rarely see RP icons larger than 300x300. Any larger than that it tends to get bulky and be in the way of other people’s comfortable internet browsing experience, especially on mobile.  Of course, these are just my suggestions. What you choose will ultimately be up to you, but somewhere in that 100 to 300 px range is pretty safe.
A very tumblr specific thing to know is that any image that is wider than 300 pixels will be stretched to hell, so you probably want to keep it smaller than that.
Tumblr media
Thanks, Tumblr, I hate it!
Also, don’t be afraid to make trash images for fun if you’re so inclined. People love that, or at least I do. Not having the right icon can be fun and lead to a very silly solution. Lean into being a shitposter if that’s what you’re called to do.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So yeah, that’s basically what my suggestions are. Collect your images in a way that helps cohesion and ease of use. Keep them a good size. Don’t be afraid to get unconventional with your choices or make memes or whatever. It’s all for a fun time.
Anyway, that’s all I can think of right now, but more info on any of this can be obtained at the price of one ask, I know it was a lot of different moving parts.
