Heroes & Cons

Set in the future, this canon-adjacent AU primarily features Sonic/Shadow/Metal Sonic as the main interests. Sonic is 31 in current events, and he’s been bestowed with one of Metal’s arms, given freely, after a battle that took his right arm. Heroes & Cons follows closely the theme of overcoming, legacy, and immortality. This is basically a “If children and marriage aren’t in Sonic and Shadow’s future, what kind of future could they build in a world that needs them?” scenario. Also features: open relationships/multiple partners, exploration of humanity in robots, a redefining of what a family can be, and what kind of complicated situationship Sonic and Shadow have going on in particular. Sonadow, Sonmetal, Metadow, and all three together are mainly explored here.

Service Animal AU

In an alternate world where Maria lived, G.U.N. never raided the ARK, Shadow the hedgehog has been raised as a lifelong service companion to Maria. His chaos abilities are amplified for healing rather than destruction, and his unwavering devotion toward her wellbeing in the search for a cure for her illness means Shadow hasn’t given thought to living for himself. When he meets a strange Mobian named Sonic, his uncomfortable reality is shined upon, and he realizes what Maria’s been hoping for him to discover all along; he needs to figure out what his own path will be. This au is Sonadow and heavily explores a more complex and deeply powerful bond that exists between Shadow and Maria as ‘service animal’ and ‘charge’ as well as best friends.

Fast food jobs I think Dorm Leaders have worked.

I'm at work so I thought of this while making food, but send in request!

Riddle Rosehearts : Dairy Queen and Trey's family Bakery.

I feel like after his overbolt he wanted to explore and experience things he couldn't before. So he got a job to try things out.

"Riddle how was Dairy Queen?"

"It was alright for a first job, I hated making blizzards though".

"Yeah when Riddle came to work at the bakery, his muscle memory was the worst".

"How so?".

"Let's say when he was making milkshakes for customers he was flip them upside-down".

Leona Kingscholar : Waffle House

During his teenage angst years he was badmouthinh servants and food workers, so his mom has enough and decided to get him a job so he will understand how hard it is being a worker.

"Leona?"

"..."

"You know that stigma around waffle house? The fights? Let's just say he ran a fight club!".

"WHAT"

"Ruggie cut the shit, I didn't start them, but I did finish them".

Azul Ashengrotto : Family Restaurant

Since it is said his family owns their own restaurant, I can imagine him as a child coming from school and doing his homework in the corner of the restaurant and when he got older (old enough not to break child labor laws ) he worked as a host/server or dishwasher.

"How do you feel about tipping Azul?"

"Well my family pays our workers above minimum wage in the Atlantic, so tipping isn't necessarily but it is seen as a complement".

"PSST Yuu/Name, people tip there more because there's rumors that their family works with the mafia"

Kalim Al-Asim : Sonic

He saw an ad where the employees got to Rollerblade to cars to being food. He begged for weeks just to have a job. His family complied but he was only allowed to do it for a week with Jamil's help.

"Yeah! It was super fun!! But I wasn't allowed to rollarskate, they said 'we don't do that anymore'. So Jamil took me to Roller-Rink after work!"

"He would pout everytime we passed it on the way home...."

Vil Schoenheit : Starbucks

A video circled around of a blond Karen who looked kinda like Vil (maybe or maybe not it was him, PR teams worked hard) bitching about her Chai latte not being hot. So Vil decided to work at Starbucks for two weeks just to bring up his reputation and "be humbled".

"Did you enjoy it?"

"Kinda, it was a nice experience but so many people came in asking just for autographs to the point where the manager had to put a sign up saying if you bought 20 dollars worth of food or drinks they get a free autograph".

"So we're you the karen?"

"... listen we all have our bad days, but now I get free Starbucks for life. Now what do you want to drink?".

Idia Shroud : McDonald's

Remember when BTS meal was available at McDonald's and workers got shirts are started selling them for hundreds of dollars? I feel like Idia would do the same thing for like a game collaboration or a popular idol group. Literally only applies for the merch.

"Did you enjoy working there?"

"No. The social interaction was awful, people are so fucking rude. I'm sorry that I misheard you when you said you want a fucking mcnugget".

"Damn, salty much?"

"You know how many rude customers got spit in their food? Alot. That's why I will never eat there again" *shivers*

"Welp atleast you got this cool shirt".

Malleus Draconia : None.

I'm sorry but I can not see this man working a day in his life unless he was told to do the dishes as a punishment, but even then he didn't finish doing them because Lilia felt bad

This is technically not my idea, I’m not sure if it was Tumblr or Twitter but it’s basically an AU/post where Amy and Sonic are technically engaged through tribe traditions (in my AU case accidentally).

If you wanna find the original post, this is what I remember from it:

Amy beat Sonic in traditional combat so she claims him as her reward holding Sonic like a sack of potatoes.

Sonic whines to Knuckles about his current predicament only for Knuckles to tell him that he should have taken his training more seriously and he only has himself to blame. (If you can find the original I would love to see it again. It was so silly and cute).

Context:

In my AU Sonic, Tails, Knuckles adventures off-world to see if there are any remaining hedgehog tribes (Knuckles planned the trip once he found out his brother had never met another hedgehog before). After some time they come across a hedgehog tribe where a particular hedgehog catches Sonic’s eye, Amy Rose. They both hit it off well so much so that Sonic invites her back on earth to hang out (and maybe join his tribe/team). Amy sadly explains how she can’t leave her tribe until she comes of age or her guardian or chief is defeated in combat. Before Amy could probably explain other options Sonic excitedly proclaims that he could take on her guardian so she can be free to explore his world and maybe others. Amy again alongside Knuckles tries to explain to him about their traditions, but Sonic is too excited at the idea of his new friend coming to earth to fully listen. Ultimately, they both give up and decide to let Sonic weep the consequences whether he wins or loses against Amy’s Guardian.

Fortunately (or unfortunately) for Sonic despite not being as well trained as Knuckles he managed to beat Amy’s guardian in combat. Sonic is celebrating his victory until a congratulation for his engagement stops him in his tracks. Sonic's shocked expression, sends knuckles into a fit of laughter with tails followed soon after with his fits of giggles. Amy seems to also find their predicament entertaining and decides to have as much fun as she can with this by teasing Sonic.

Bonus context

After Sonic recovers from his shock, Amy lets him know that they can break off her engagement after a couple of months (it’s considered disrespectful if they break off the engagement too soon).

The engagement lasts until they’re of age for marriage (18-20s).

She also reveals that if he had listened, she would’ve told him the third option was for her to challenge her chief for the right to travel off world.

During her time on earth, Amy frequently teases Sonic about their engagement, giving him many pet names, such as My Darling or My Love.

Although Amy finds Sonic to be handsome and a great guy, she feels neither of them are ready to be married, though she changes her mind when she gets to know him more during her time on earth. She almost doesn’t want the engagement to end but She respects that this is something Sonic might not want or be ready for. Unbeknownst to her, Sonic secretly doesn’t want to end it either.

Another Sonic and Tails headcanon thingie: these two have their unique ways of greeting each other whenever they come home, whether they were gone for a day or only 20 minutes. One of them is what Tails tends to use since it’s his absolute favorite one, the infamous koala hug attack.

For this one, in story form!

Word count: ...idk I literally wrote this in my drafts on here so I have no idea other than it went longer than originally intended 🙃 😅

Sonic clutched the bags tightly in his arms as he felt his shoes skid hard against the ground as he got near the porch of the living quarters of the workshop, nearly losing his balance in the process. A fresh coat of slightly, wet dirt now covered the bottom of his sneakers from heel to toe as he walked up the steps.

He hastily wiped his feet on the mat in front of the door, already picturing the complaints he was going to receive about tracking dirt across the floorboards again if he didn't...again.

It's not like Tails wasn’t guilty of it either, he just got at him because he tends to do it the most. Though it didn’t mean that he himself wasn’t fed up with it.

Managing to open the door with his elbow, he shuffled into the living room and dropped the bags onto the kitchen island, quickly catching some of the cans that spilled out of the bag.

"Geez, I swear that bagger was just stuffing all this stuff in here." He grumbled out loud, stacking the cans in the cabinet and putting the rest of the groceries away in a few seconds.

He brushed off his hands and glanced around the room. "Tails? You here, bud?"

There wasn’t any sound of thudding footsteps coming closer to him, or a voice calling out in response, or just any answer at all. That wasn't much of a surprise since he tended to leave the workshop more and more recently to just take a walk and explore the area.

As long as he wasn’t cooped up in his lab all day, that was good enough for him.

He moved to speak into his wrist comm to check in with Tails when his ears perked and heard some shuffling coming from behind him. Turning around, he was mildly surprised to see that nothing was there.

It mildly surprised him due to the fact barely anything could sneak up on him due to the years of training exercises he carried out, though it didn't explain why he was still hearing the shuffling all around him.

Sonic paused and let out a groan. "Oh boy, I hope it isn't another mouse that snuck inside the lab again. That was another whole week of stress that I won't get back." He mumbled softly to himself, rubbing a hand over his face.

What he did hear next definitely surprised him, considering it had been a while since he's even heard it, a few short giggles broke through the silence causing him to freeze and look around the room confused.

"Uh, Tails?"

Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a quick flash of yellow disappears from view near one of the rafters on the ceiling, with that same shuffling noise following suit before it went silent again.

He didn't acknowledge that he saw the kit being bad at hiding, but he knew full well who it was, and the little tradition that they haven't done in a couple of years.

Sonic smirked to himself. 'Oh wow. We're playing this game again, huh? It's definitely been a while. But if it's what the kid wants to do...'

He played along, placing his hands on his hips, and feigned a worried voice. "Oh dear, I wonder where my little buddy Tails is. I just can't seem to find him anywhere!"

Sonic walked around the room, looking around dramatically under the table, around the couch, and into the kitchen cabinets. He audibly let out a sigh and leaned against the kitchen island, placing the back of his hand on his forehead.

"Tails? Oh, where for art thou Tails? My brother? Mi amigo? My honorary pride and joy. Lost forever to where I can never follow him." He kept his voice light and teasing, grinning when it earned him more giggling.

He moseyed on over directly under the one rafter where he knew Tails was hiding and put his arms up in defeat. "Hmm, he doesn't seem to be in here. I guess I was just imagining hearing him this whole time."

A slight creak was heard above him as he waited and braced himself for the attack. "3, 2, 1...."

"Nooo!….not the...koala hug trap…the cuteness…it’s too much for my body to handle..." He fell to his knees and hunched over, wrapping an arm around Tails and purposely squeezing closer to him in the process.

"Koala attack!" Tails yelled and dropped down, flying right into Sonic and wrapping his arms and legs around his torso.

Both of his tails wagged as he nuzzled his head under Sonic’s chin. The hedgehog lets out a groan from the impact, both to add to the part and to that the kid was a bit heavier than he remembered. He decided to suck it up and take it like a man...er, hedgehog.

"I can feel...all my energy depleting....I think I see a light. Mom, is that you?" Sonic fell over on his side, Tails snickered as he continued to hang onto him. "Goodbye cruel world....I'll miss you."

He finishes by rolling over on his back, closing his eyes, and lolled his head to the side, finalizing his "ultimate death." He stayed silent for a moment before he felt Tails shift around on his chest and felt a finger poking at his cheek. He peeked an eye open and saw him beaming a wide smile at him.

"Hi."

"Well, hi to you too." He poked a finger to Tails' nose, switching to giving a scratch behind the kit's ear. "So, mind explaining why you decided to ambush me like a crazy maniac today?

Tails laid his head back down, deeply enjoying the ear scritches. "Nope."

Sonic chuckled. "OK then." He placed his head down in turn and stared up at the ceiling.

After a few moments, Sonic cleared his throat, making Tails look up at him. "You uh, gonna let me up anytime soon? I gotta get dinner started soon."

Tails shook his head, the playful gleam shining in his eyes. "You know the rule in order to escape the hug trap, Sonic, unless you wanna be stuck here forever you gotta pay the toll."

Sonic gave out a little hum. "Actually, I change my mind, I kinda want to be stuck here. The floor is pretty comfy."

"But what if you need to use the bathroom?"

"I'll just crawl on the floor and take you along with me."

He heard Tails give a snort in amusement. "Yeah sure, you barely go in there to take a shower."

Sonic gave a hard flick to his ear, "Says alot for the guy hugging me in a death grip right now."

"Shut up, I know my limits to your body odor and this is a mere exception. Besides, you still need to pay the release toll."

"Oh right, the toll," Sonic pauses, pretending to be clueless. "Uh, what was it again?"

"You already know what it is."

"Do I now?"

Tails sighed lightly, trying to sound like he was annoyed. "Yes!"

"I do? Huh, I don’t seem to recall what it is-."

"Sooniiiic.."

"OK, Alright. One toll payment coming up." He sat up and wrapped his arms around Tails, resting his cheek on top of his head. The kit in turn squeezed his hug tighter, letting out a laugh as Sonic began to quickly rock their bodies side to side.

"Was that a good payment for ya?"

"Oh yeah, totally worth all those overdue bills you've been ignoring." Tails said lightly.

"Ah, speaking of which, I still have one more from this morning I haven't paid for. Better late than never!" He finishes by pulling him closer and wrapping him in a even tighter hug, a one where Tails could barely move his arms.

"Ow! Okay, you paid your debt! That's too tight!" Sonic released him and watched as Tails held his sides seemingly in pain.

Sonic got up and looked at him, slight panic rushing in upon seeing him. "You good?"

"I think you nearly broke my ribs." Tails croaked out.

"Sorry." He gave him a sheepish smile as he helped him up the floor, giving him quick, side hug, a gentle one this time and ruffling the fur on his head. "You wanna help me get dinner started?"

"Sure," Tails went to stand up, stopping midway and a deep frown suddenly masked his face. "...Sonic?"

Sonic flinched at his sudden change in tone. "Yeah?"

"You didn’t wipe your feet when you came in, didn't you?"

"Oh my gosh-, don't start with that again please." Sonic groaned as Tails began his annoying tangent. "I actually did it this time."

"I can see the tracks of water leading from the grass outside to here! I keep telling you, just wipe your feet at the doormat!"

"I was carrying the groceries in!"

"That's no excuse Sonic! You know how hard it is to mop up these floors!"

Sonic began to back away, holding his hands up. "Well I did, and just for the false accusation you're not getting the dessert I bought tonight."

Tails' eyes widened, his mouth open agape. "What?!? That's not fair!"

"Neither is falsly accusing your brother for a crime he didn’t commit."

"It's not false accusation if the proof is right in front of your dumb-dumb face." Tails deadpanned.

"Annnd, now that's no mint candy of any kind for a week."

"Sonic!"

"Do you want me to make it a full month?" He tried to have his "serious" face on while saying it but the sour look on Tails' face made it rather difficult and cracked up rather quickly. Tails stood there flabbergasted upon seeing him suddenly burst out laughing, a faint blushed warmed up his face once he realized what was going on. Typical Sonic, he should have seen that coming.

"You're the worst, you know that?"

"Love you too bro."

Man, I've the somewhat urge to create Sonadow kids myself, 😅 but kinda hard to be original since a lot of people use similar designs.

DO IT!!!! I support you completely!!! ❤️❤️❤️

And I sympathize!! When I was designing Stellar, I recognized I had 20 years worth of Sonadow fankids to try and stand out from. 😂 By no means an easy task!

I think deciding what you want out of the fankid is a good place to start. I, personally, really like trying to make my fankids seem plausible. When I make them, I want to create unique silhouettes, color palettes, and character motivations that fall in line with existing Sonic media. Like, I knew from the beginning I wanted Stellar to be recognizable as a Sonadow fankid, but I also wanted her to be her own character. This is what inspired the cosmic/star theme and the government experiment backstory. I also wanted her to have a unique racing mechanic like both of her dads, so I made her a figure skater!

So, look inside yourself and ponder: what do YOU want to get out of creating a fankid? For example, I have a lot of friends and mutuals who are really comforted by the idea of either Sonic or Shadow being trans, and they incorporate that into their fankid AUs! I have others who are really into sci-fi as a genre, and they like exploring Shadow's alien DNA as an explanation for how a child might come about! These are just a few examples of ways you can make your story/fankid unique to you!

Sonic Frontiers

Details on the second major content update for Sonic Frontiers was revealed in the Sonic Central. Titled "Sonic's Birthday Bash", it's scheduled for a release on 23 June 2023.

Sonic's Birthday: Celebrate Sonic's birthday in Sonic Frontiers with a new birthday theme, including a festive HUD, environment objects, a new birthday skin, and more!

Open Zone Challenges: Explore the Open Zone with all new challanges scattered throughout.

Spindash: The iconic Sonic move makes a return in Sonic Frontiers!

New Kocos: Some Kocos seem to dawn new outfits and some do seem a bit bigger than usual.

New Game Plus.

Sonic Superstars

A new teaser was shown promoting the new Sonic Superstars and LEGO collaboration, featuring LEGO Eggman as a pre-order bonus.

Following the presentation, SEGA dropped new renders and descriptions for all the characters featured in the upcoming game.

Trip: Not much is known yet about Trip, the mysterious girl first encountered by Fang on the Northstar Islands. While a bit clumsy, Trip is heavily armored and has been enlisted by Fang and Dr. Eggman to protect and guide them around the wonders of this uncharted region.

Fang the Hunter (formerly Fang the Sniper): Fang is a springy jerboa that is light on his feet and is always looking for the next big score. A bounty hunter by trade, Fang the Hunter has been known by many different names over the years, likely due to his “WANTED” status with the authorities. Always trying to stay one step ahead, he’s constantly modifying and upgrading his primary mode of transportation, the Marvelous Queen.

The official Sonic the Hedgehog YouTube channel also uploaded a new 3-minute video featuring Superstars producer Naoto Ohshima and Sonic Studio creative officer Takashi Iizuka.

Sonic Prime

A new extended clip of the upcoming second content drop of Sonic Prime was previewed. It's scheduled to make its debut on Netflix in 13 July.

Sonic Dash and Speed Battle

A new Classic Super Sonic skin will be joining SEGA HARDlight's flagship titles Speed Battle and Dash soon.

Other things of note, as reported last week:

To coincide with the release of the 2nd season of Sonic Prime, characters from Prime will be playable in Dash, including Boscage Sonic, Rusty Rose, and Tails Nine.

Alongside the Prime characters, Super Silver and an all new Dragon Hunter Lancelot will make their debut in Dash and Speed Battle later this month.

San Diego Comic-Con 2023

With Comic-Con coming this summer, a new pop-up restaurant featuring the blue blur will open near the show floor.

Merchandise

New Death Egg Set from Jakks Pacific: Based on the Sonic 4 Episode 2 final boss, fight The Egg Heart in the new Death Egg set.

Streetwear brand Hypland announced their collaboration with Sonic the Hedgehog: The limited edition collection features an assortment of graphic tees and hoodies featuring Sonic and his friends meshed into contemporary streetwear designs.

S-Fire Sonic Statue: Pre-order the new Sonic & Shadow statue today with augmented reality compatibility.

Sonic has officially announced a collaboration with the popular shoe brand Crocs. As reported back in late May: it's available in adult and kids sizes, for $49.99 USD and $44.99 USD respectively. Besides the shoes themselves, Crocs will be offering Jibbitz charms. They will be coming in a pack of 5 with Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, and Shadow, offered at $19.99 USD.

Other things of note: a Sonic-themed Playmate cooler from Igloo, a themed guitar from ESP Guitars, and Sonic and Shadow Cable Guy figures.

Sonic Origins Plus

With Origins Plus out, SEGA released a new launch trailer.

With more content than ever before, and a new premium physical version, Sonic Origins Plus is the definitive way to play 16 classic Sonic games in one timeless collection.

LEGO

SEGA officially previewed the Death Egg Robot set, now scheduled for a release in August.

As reported via a leak earlier this month, it contains a Sonic mini figure accompanied with his speed sphere mechanism and the launcher to it; and the Death Egg Robot piloted by Eggman, and Cubot.

Samba de Amigo: Party Central

As reported, the upcoming Samba De Amigo: Party Central will be featuring the world's famous hedgehog as a guest character.

The game will feature two iconic Sonic tunes, Escape From the City and Fist Bump, alongside the City Escape stage itself.

IDW Sonic the Hedgehog

EPICA's SIMONE SIMONS Releases Debut Solo Single 'Aeterna'

Simone Simons has been a pioneering force within the world of metal for over two decades as part of EPICA. Now, alongside her musical partner and longtime collaborator Arjen Lucassen (AYREON),she embarks on the journey of her debut solo album, "Vermillion".

Arjen is no stranger to Simone's soaring operatic voice, one that can stir even a gargoyle's stone heart to tears. Together they have crafted a sonic universe that befits the influential figure she is. Due on August 23 via Nuclear Blast Records, "Vermillion" emerges as a gargantuan goose-bump generator, a universally touching, stellar tour de force.

Alongside the announcement of her debut solo record, Simone has released a video for the album's first single, "Aeterna". You can watch the clip below.

Simone and Arjen state: "'Aeterna' is the big, epic opener of the album and it comes with this amazing video too, directed by Patric Ullaeus. It definitely sounds the closest to EPICA and AYREON, blending powerful Latin lyrics with a touch of an oriental feel. We've tried to strike a balance between the mighty, bombastic sounds and the more atmospheric parts. Since it's the first track people will hear from this album, it's super important to us and we're really excited for people to hear it!

"'Aeterna' takes the point of view of a star about to go supernova to explore how everything in the universe is interconnected, like a cosmic web made from stardust. It deals our deep emotions, consciousness and other mysteries of life that science still can't fully explain. Essentially it's a reflection on our place in the vast universe and the connections that bind us together, as we're all, to quote Carl Sagan, 'made of starstuff.'"

For more than 20 years, ever since she was a teenager, Simons has been carving her own path as a woman within the world of metal. As a lead singer, icon, and role model for a whole generation of female metalheads, the EPICA lead singer remains one of the most prominent key figures in all things metal. After eight albums and countless global tours with her band, Simone Simons finally found the time to release her first solo album — a moment 15 years in the making. Her breathtaking debut "Vermillion" is a stunning feat chronicling her storied past as well as her rise to fame, and showcasing her many different influences ranging from prog rock to film scores to metal to electronic elements.

Of the timing for her eagerly awaited foray into the realms of a solo career, the Dutch singer says with a disarming grin: "EPICA has my priority and I always have the liberty to do other musical projects besides my career in EPICA. Yet I never had the time to dive into a project to this extent."

This past March, Simone told Mexico's Summa Inferno that EPICA's follow-up to 2021's "Omega" album will likely be released in 2025.

"I love the songs so far that we've written," Simone said. "There's more [songs that have been written] than fit on the album. So it's gonna be cool. And we won't tour that much this year. So we are focusing on the EPICA album and the 'Symphonic Synergy' shows [where EPICA will play alongside an orchestra], which is a lot of work."

In November 2022, EPICA released "The Alchemy Project" through Atomic Fire Records. The EP was co-written and performed with diverse guests ranging from extremists like FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE, Niilo Sevänen (INSOMNIUM) and Björn "Speed" Strid (SOILWORK) along with melodic masters like Tommy Karevik (KAMELOT),keyboard legend Phil Lanzon (URIAH HEEP) and Roel Van Helden (POWERWOLF) to a once-in-a-lifetime song with Simons, Charlotte Wessels and Myrkur.

Just one day after the release of its anniversary reissues "We Still Take You With Us" and "Live At Paradiso", EPICA celebrated 20 years of existence live in September 2022 at 013 in Tilburg, Netherlands, the same place where they played their first show (supporting ANATHEMA) back in 2002.

EPICA was formed by guitarist/vocalist Mark Jansen after leaving AFTER FOREVER in 2002, and the band quickly gained attention outside their home country, taking big steps towards becoming the leading symphonic metal superpower they have long proven to be. After their ambitious debut "The Phantom Agony" (2002) and the surprisingly eclectic sophomore work "Consign To Oblivion" (2005),the road took them to new heights via their first concept masterpiece "The Divine Conspiracy" (2007) and their global breakthrough "Design Your Universe" (2009). 2012's opus "Requiem For The Indifferent", 2014's bedazzling "The Quantum Enigma" and "The Holographic Principle" (2016),cemented their reputation as not only one of the hardest-working metal bands in the business but also as one of the best. With "Omega", the final part of the metaphysical trilogy they began with "The Quantum Enigma", they reclaimed the throne without so much as the blink of an eye, amassing three million-plus streams during the first week of the album's release.

WHERE THE BOY GETS THE GUY

literally the only info i have written down on this is that it's an alternative universe, it's NorthSonic, it's set in college, North is a popular gay jock, and Sonic is the stereotype breaking Cheerleader wearing skirts and hating on jocks, the only stereotype he isn't breaking is being a cheerleader that's dating a jock, but who can blame him for falling for north?? have you SEEN his arms?? and he makes him laugh.

SAKURA NOTES

is actually two works that are basically the same story but one I've actually thought out and discussed with @ohanny , the other (the one I'll talk about here) is just Inspired by what we talked of together but mainly pieced together by me and major plots were my idea

it's a Canon Compliant to the end of Season One of Pitbabe, It starts where the last episode left off.

Both works are about Kenta visiting Japan after everything happened, to go on a journey of self finding and getting healthy and stuff like that.

In this work kenta obviously doesn't end up in Jail, With the Help of Pete he gets out of any legal issues, Kenta was taken under the wing by the X-Hunter team and was taken care of for a bit, he helped with some Accounting stuff for Alan. Kenta, Babe, Charlie and Jeff got to work and help out the Special kids that were still at the foundation and find Kids that were already adopted and help them back to safety and into an actual SAFE Adoption Centre and everything is Monitored by them closely.

Basically Kenta throws himself back into work, trying to make up for all his mistakes and everything that he was part of that he's not proud of. He wants to prove that he's a good person and that he doesn't want to disappoint the others again.

All the work obviously leads to a burnout, Kenta is still majorly Traumatised and needs time to actually recover

therefore the team (majorly kim and pete) decide that kenta needs to get back into the real world and figure out who he really is without Tony and the Chen foundation.

Kim suggests Kenta should go back to his roots for a little vacation to Japan, and quickly offers to go with him (because he's the one closest with kenta rn) so he doesn't have to go alone.

Kenta eventually agrees after being a little MEH about the idea, but after a good breakdown he decides he actually does need a break, and if the pretty boy he has a silly crush on wants to join, who's he to say no?

so they travel to japan, they stay in tokyo for a while before traveling to a slightly smaller city, but ultimately they settle down for a week or two in a small town that sounds familiar to kenta and itches a place in his brain.

they make a lot of memories together and get closer with every day and often share deep talks at night watching the sky, or just sitting there watching eachother, it's all very intimate for some reason.

a few days in town they stumble upon a very cute tea shop surrounded by cherry blossom trees, they decide to go in and grab something to drink and eat for a break from their exploring.

The owner of the shop is a cute little japanese lady, she's so nice and really happy about kim and kenta coming in, she calls them handsome and makes some small talk with them before letting them order.

while the old lady goes to prepare their food and tea, kenta walks around the shop and looks around, especially looking at the pictures that are hung on all the walls, some of the pictures are really old (atleast over 20 years, kenta would guess)

there's one picture his eyes keep coming back to, it scratches an itch in his brain, something so familiar about it that he can't quite explain.

the old lady notices when he brings them their order and asks kenta if he would like to know about the little boy and the man on the picture.

kenta says he doesn't want to intrude on anything, the picture seems private.

the lady tells kenta that he doesn't need to worry and tells him to sit down, before she proceeds to tell him and kim about the picture.

the picture is 24 years old, the little boy is her 3 year old son named Ken, and the man is the father and her husband. she looks sad as she talks but she's still smiling, happy she gets to talk about the two lovely men in his life.

she tells them it's the last picture that was taken of both of them, it was taken before they both left for Thailand, her husband was visiting some family and wanted to take Ken with him, because the lady didn't want to leave the shop alone she let her boys leave without her.

A few days later, a message reached her that they were in an accident that killed her husband, and her son went missing.

Kim tells her he's very sorry for her loss, and that's she's a strong woman and he's glad she's still smiling and living for them.

Kenta is at a loss for words, he can't shake that the picture looks familiar to him.

They get interrupted by another customer coming in and the old lady leaves to take care of them.

Kenta and Kim finish their things before leaving the shop and going back to their rented flat, kenta is still acting off....a little weird.

when they get home kenta calls pete, asking him to send him pictures of everything Tony kept in Kentas file, everything he had that belonged to him, everything he kept under lock that had kentas name on it.

Kim asks Kenta what this is all about, Kenta then explains that he thinks he's the boy in the picture, he explains how familiar it felt, how everything about this town felt familiar, how it has to be a sign that the name of the town scratched an itch in his brain before they decided to come and stay here.

the next morning, pete sent him everything he could find, and kentas suspicions were confirmed, hidden in his files and belongings was the same picture that was hung up in that shop, signed on the back with a message in cursive that read "be safe my boys, love ma <3"

Kenta takes a few days to recover and make sense of things, Kim and him get even closer, eventually getting so close that they kiss, confess and get together.

Together they go back to the shop but Kim stays outside while Kenta goes inside and tells the Old lady....his Mother, everything that happened.

and that's all i have on that ur so welcome for that, I hope it's gonna be as stuck in your brains as is it is in mine.

genuinely don't think I won't be getting to write this for a while, purely because I don't think i could make it justice like i wanted it to. i want to practice more writing before writing something as intimate as this, but if anyone wants to take it off my hands I'd be more than happy to give you all my thoughts so you can write it for the fandom!

Saw this coming. Hi Measly!

Through means I shan't disclose here, Maria is. . . well, not cured, but treated to the extent that her disease is no longer terminal; or at least only marginally more likely to kill her than anything else.

Also, she and Shadow escape that other business.

Most of the fics I end up actually writing are written in reaction to a question that tickles my brain. A friendship between Knuckles and Shadow would lead to cool conversations: How do? What if Sonic remembered the Freedom Fighters and he was the only one who did?

The main question for this fic is: How would Maria respond if she got to live?

She's been on the ARK for as long as she can remember. Masking her frustration with the unfairness of her illness—playing, if not the angel of Gerald's rose-tinted memory, the good granddaughter. Managed to find a sort of morbid solace, or at least closure, with the fact that she probably wouldn't live to see 20; that she could be certain of how she'd die, if not quite the when.

Then, all of a sudden, that certainty vanishes. Her future is as vague and open as anyone else's.

How complicated must that feeling be, especially for someone as intelligent as a Robotnik? Does she mourn, does she celebrate? Stall out, overwhelmed?

I've also got a whole post with questions about Maria, her character and what she'd be like if she lived that I'll explore through this fic.

But then, you know about that one—you're responsible for prompting my brain into spawning this concept in the first place.

2023 Art Summary

I originally created my blog back in April, but I've decided to jump on the trend and share a compilation of some of my favorite works.

JANUARY

My first attempt at a digital painting style, featuring a character I don't believe I've introduced here before. A reimagining of the Tails Doll, with a Phantom Ruby twist: The Phantom Amalgamation (or Maggie, as my friends call them), made for Project Alacrity. I'll have to get around to redrawing them so they can have a proper introduction.

FEBUARY

Fanart for YouTube creator, Miharu the Fox. Whilst watching one of her streams, I asked what I should draw, with her co-host Marc suggesting that I should "Draw Spyro glitching into the abyss." Seeing that they were playing Spyro Enter the Dragonfly, it seemed only fitting. So I drew him shaking on top of a trapped baby dragon in ice.

MARCH

An attempt at a papercraft style using a tutorial by YouTube user, CariadsCoffee. The character pictured is Squirrelflight (or rather, Squirrelstar) from Warrior Cats, using my own design. Learning this method of drawing is what eventually led to me adopting the lineless style I use in many of my posts.

APRIL

Parody designs of Silver and Blaze, aptly dubbed Pothead and Lighter. They originate from a Sonic 06 parody comic for 4/20 that was written by my friend, @alzikeiswrong , and was illustrated in TuxPaint by me. Whether or not I decide to actually finish and post it is a mystery.

MAY

A post made as a gut reaction to discovering the amount of articulated parts the Jakks Pacific Tails Nine figure had. 70 points of articulation is ridiculous, but man is the figure amazing. I just wish he was to scale with the normal Tails figure.

JUNE

My second attempt at a digital painting, this time featuring Blaze the Cat. Manipulating the flames and how they interacted with Blaze and the background, was a fun challenge, as well as figuring out the textures and posing.

JULY

This is the point when I discovered my lineless style. Specifically the one I use when drawing my fursona, Sapph. Her design has developed a lot over the years, from being a Minecraft X Warrior Cats crossover OC, to slowly rounding out and becoming less Minecraft, gaining new design details in the process, to where she is now.

AUGUST

A drawing of multiple AU designs of Tails for Project Alacrity, socializing at some sort of get together. This was mainly a test to practice how to frame a drawing with multiple characters in it, as well as giving them each something to do. To show the differences between these various different versions of the same core character through their designs and how they interact with one another.

SEPTEMBER

One of the ask answers for my MommyClan cat's ask blog, @stepcousinclawspeaks . Stepcousinclaw was originally created for the fanclan in August, but this panel was one of my favorites. It shows his chaotic and often arsonistic side really well. I'll return to the blog soon for a big story update. Stay tuned!

OCTOBER

October brought with it the Sonic OC Showdown 2, which I had miraculously managed to get my Trace the Tasmanian to participate in. She passed the first round by a close call, but lost by a wide margin in the following. It was a good fight, with a good string of propaganda art coming from me and some of my supporters as a part of the campaign. Thank you all for supporting me while I was a part of it.

NOVEMBER

Whilst exploring through old files, I came across a template I saved. I used it to share the designs I made for various Warriors characters, some who I already had made designs for, and others I had to make up on the spot. One of my favorites was Spottedleaf. The balance of colors and details seem just right to me, as well as being a vast improvement from the color inaccurate one I had made as a ten year old.

DECEMBER

December's was fun. I haven't ever really had a "set style." Every time I try to revisit one specific design I always make something a bit off. Same can be said for this sketch style. I loved doing it. It felt the most accurate to how my art on paper feels as I draw it. Rough around the edges, but lifelike. Sadly I've had a hard time returning to it after dumping out all my thoughts around the 06 AU onto my screen. I've been working on it. There's more to see in the coming year, so I hope you'll stick with me to see how I can grow as a young artist!

So I love talking about Sonic and Tails dynamic but I’ve really been thinking about how I wish they’d explore Tails’ and Shadows dynamic more.

Like we all know that (whether intentional on SEGAs end or not) there is a clear parallel between Shadow—Maria and Sonic—Tails.

And this is gonna be a little long so I’ll put the full rambles of my thoughts under the cut

So I like to think that everyone around Sonic, Tails, and Shadow have all pretty much came to the same conclusion of Shadow + Maria = Sonic + Tails, all except for Tails and Shadow.

And what about Sonic? Well he made that connection the moment they learned about what happened to Maria which is why he was immediately chill with Shadow and his whole deal.

Sonic read what happened to Maria took one look at Shadow and his plans to destroy the planet because of it and just basically was like

“oooooohhh okay…yeah I get it… same-sies Shadow…I 100% would do the same thing if that happened to Tails”

Shadow and Tails tho both just have not made the connection yet.

Shadow figures it out first and it just hits him one day when he’s hanging around Tails’ workshop cause Tails is fixing his motorcycle. Tails just says something or does something and Shadow immediately just has a little “oh” moment when it clicks into place how much Tails does remind him of Maria. And how similar him and Sonic are in regards to their adopted siblings.

Cue Shadow marching into Tails’ and Sonic’s house with Tails tucked under his arm, kicking the door in and just Rosa from Brooklyn 99 style announcing

“I’ve had Tails for an afternoon and if anything happened to him I would kill everyone on this planet and them myself”

Sonic is just there like “same” but all their other friends have immediate concerns. Minus Rouge who’s just like “called it you owe me 20 bucks Omega”

Tails on the other hand is a genius but bless his little heart he never really makes the connection, he just thinks Shadow is his friend now for some reason (he thinks maybe cause he did such a good job on Shadows motorcycle).

In their fights with Eggman or what ever villain they go up against from then on Shadow keeps an eye out for Tails cause he’s like “we don’t need a repeat of the same tragedy” plus Tails has grown on him a bit. He likes the kid so sue him.

Also Tails and Shadow start hanging out every once in a while and just work on Shadows motorcycle. Because of this Shadow has a whole new arsenal of guns Tails made him. And Shadow helps train up Tails a bit more in hand to hand combat making him an even more badass little ball of fluff.
