Fake Dating/Didn't Know They Were Dating Fic's (Part 1)
The following are some buddie fanfiction involving fake dating, or the characters realizing they've been partners all along.
Tumblr media
What If I Fall In Love Backwards? by RedRidingStiles
9-1-1 (TV)
"I feel like we should go save him," Chimney said as he and Hen loaded their drunk and injured patient into the back of the ambulance (day drinking and balconies do not mix), nodding his head towards the small swarm of college girls surrounding a highly uncomfortable Buck. "And by we I mean you, Eddie." "Yeah I got this," Eddie reassured, cupping one hand around his mouth before shouting, "Hey Buckley!" "What's up, Hot Stuff?" Buck called back, his eyes holding crystal blue relief as they met Eddie's across the lawn. Eddie tried to bite back his amused smile but didn't succeed when his next words had Buck grinning like a complete fool. "You. Me. Tonight. Wear something pretty." "Edmundo Diaz, are you trying to ask me out on a date?"
 —or—
five Times Buck and Eddie saved each other by pretending to be together and the one time Christopher helps
Language: English Words: 9,879 Chapters: 1/1
baby, say you'll always keep me by hattalove
9-1-1 (TV)
“Yeah,” Eddie says, and the darkness behind his eyelids takes on a white edge. “Be good. Nice to be married,” he yanks on Buck’s t-shirt, “best friend.” Finally, Buck takes a breath that sounds off somehow, but he laughs too, and that sounds normal, Eddie thinks. A normal laugh. “Sure, Eds,” he says, and there’s his hand in Eddie’s hair again, a puff of breath on the crown of Eddie’s head like Buck leaned in to press a kiss there and then stopped, but why would he stop—“I’ll marry you if you remind me tomorrow.”
—or—
The one in which joking about being married to your best friend is all fun and games, right up until you realize that you're not laughing.
Language: English Words: 8,251 Chapters: 1/1
I Hate Accidents (Except When We Went From Friends to This) by morganofthefairies
9-1-1 (TV)
“You should just move in,” Eddie said one night.  They were already laying in bed, Buck’s face half-buried in his pillow. “Where would I sleep, Eddie,” Buck deadpanned, sleep heavy in his voice. “Here,” Eddie said, not entirely sure how Buck missed that part.  “The same place you’ve been sleeping.” Bobby raised an eyebrow when Buck updated his address on all of the necessary paperwork, but Eddie wasn’t entirely sure what the big deal was.
—or—
The story of how Buck and Eddie went about their relationship in entirely the wrong order.
Language: English Words: 7,206 Chapters: 1/1
we could follow the sparks, i’ll drive by markofalover
9-1-1 (TV)
“Oh! You must be Mr. Diaz!” someone says from behind him, and Buck spins around clumsily, all long legs, to find a woman with a Miss Perez tag stuck to her blouse. She’s smiling politely, white teeth against red lips, and it takes just a second too long to process what she says.
—or—
everyone thinks Buck is the other Mr. Diaz.
Language: English Words: 6,539 Chapters: 1/1
i'd never let you fall and break your heart by autistic_nightfury
9-1-1 (TV)
Four times Buck and Eddie pretended to be in a relationship so people wouldn't bother them, and the one time they actually were together.
Language: English Words: 5,808 Chapters: 1/1
Say Cheese by S_lycopersicum
9-1-1 (TV)
"Um... anything left to get?" "Snacks for that girl who has diabetes. Amy, Audrey, uh..." "Abby." "Pfff... I'd remember if she was called Abby," Buck half-heard Eddie say, but his focus was on the other end of the grocery store aisle, where at 11pm at night his ex-girlfriend Abby Clark was carefully assessing two different brands of provolone.
Language: English Words: 4,927 Chapters: 1/1
of bake sales and overdue realizations by brewrosemilk
9-1-1 (TV)
Eddie doesn’t notice it until it becomes a thing that happens even when it’s just him and Buck, without Chris anywhere near them - but even then, he doesn’t find it strange, or give it much thought. Buck is the one who starts ending their phone calls with a quick ‘love you’ but it doesn't take long before Eddie does the same, often beating him to it. It’s never a big deal - most of the time it’s something along the lines of;
‘Hey, can you grab some milk on your way over? We’re out.’ ‘Yeah, yeah, I got it.’ ‘Great, love you.’ ‘Love you.’
Before long, they’re even doing it in texts.
Language: English Words: 4,823 Chapters: 1/1
the secrets we keep (the ones that spill out) by sparegarbage
9-1-1 (TV)
The 118 is a close-knit family. It’s not surprising given how much time they spend together: endless hours at the firehouse, barbecues on the weekends, the occasional night at the bar. They’re a family, yes... but Buck and Eddie don’t have to tell them everything. They’re allowed their secrets, really, and it’s not… weird. Really, it’s not. It’s just that sometimes the 118 asks too many questions, and sometimes there’s just no good (or clear or logical) way to explain. Exhibit A: How Buck ended up in Eddie’s bed during a sleepover (and how he’s been sleeping there most nights since).
—Or—
Buck and Eddie comfort each other with cuddles, hugs, and kisses (platonically—or so they think).
Language: English Words: 4,624 Chapters: 1/1
With(out) A First Date by firstdegreefangirl
9-1-1 (TV)
Buck and Eddie become boyfriends. Six months later, they start dating.
Language: English Words: 10,282 Chapters: 13/13
it's always been you by coupe_de_foudre
9-1-1 (TV)
“What do I normally get from there?” Eddie asks him, chin settled back onto his shoulder. “The kung pao chicken.” he answers almost instantaneously, having all of Eddie’s usual take-out orders memorised by now. It comes in handy for when they need to get food in quick whilst navigating work and Christopher. It’s not weird. He, unfortunately, misses the odd look that Maddie sends him. As well as the way that Hen hides a snicker behind a cough.
Language: English Words: 8,700 Chapters: 6/6

Sweet Tooth
Day 11 prompt: Sweet Tooth. Read it here on Ao3
“Oh my god,” Chimney said. The utter glee in his voice had Eddie’s ears burning hot. He knew they were bright red, along with his cheeks and neck. Eddie couldn’t even bring himself so smack the phone out of Chimney’s hand where he was aiming it at Buck, filming. He was rooted to the spot. It was like watching a car crash.
And Buck was once again back in a hospital bed, a nasty bruise spreading across his jaw and cheek. The hit to the face had come on a call. Buck had been recusing a cat from a tree when the cat had decided it didn’t need rescuing. Buck hit several branches on the way down, knocking a few of Buck’s teeth loose in the process. Blood stained the edge of his lips from where they had pulled the teeth out. His cheeks were swollen, giving Buck a chipmunk look. Paired with the glazed look in his eyes, Buck looked a little deranged. It shouldn’t have been adorable. It really shouldn’t have been.
“He’s my partner?” Buck slurred loudly around the cotton wads in his mouth, staring straight at Eddie. His hand was tugging on the sleeve of Hen’s shirt like a small child tugging at their mother’s clothes. Hen was too busy smothering her laughter to bat his hand away. His eyes widened and a blood grin stretched his lips. “I hit the jackpot.”
Eddie shot Bobby a betrayed looked when their captain failed to cover his laughter.
“He’s so pretty,” Buck slurred, swaying where he sat on the edge of the bed. Whatever drugs they had Buck on for the pain had obviously made his tongue loose and his guard down. “Wow.” He tugged on Hen’s sleeve again. “Do you see how pretty he is?”
“Oh yeah,” Hen choked out, flashing her teeth at Eddie. “I see it.”
Eddie scowled at Hen. His cheeks felt as if they could fry an egg on them, they were so hot. He scrubbed a hand through his hair, turning his gaze back to Buck. “Buck.”
“Say it again,” Buck insisted, nearly falling off the bed as he sat up straighter. Hen caught him before he could face plant. Her shoulder’s shook with her supressed laughter, odd wheezing noises coming from her chest.
“Buck.” Eddie said his name slowly, with the pitch of a question on the end.
The sigh that Buck gave could only be described as dreamy. He gazed at Eddie, love hearts practically pouring from his eyes. Besotted was another good word. So was Love-struck. “You’re voice. I get to listen to you every day? This is the greatest thing ever.”
Eddie choked on his own saliva.
Hen and Chimney lost it, both howling as they bent at the waists. Tears streamed from their eyes as they tried to catch their breathes. Their laughter rang out through the room Buck had been taken too and Eddie was glad that Buck was the only occupant. Even the nurse, who had been checking Buck’s chart, started to giggle.
“What’s so funny?” Buck asked, looking like a puppy who wanted to play but wasn’t sure how to. He glanced between them before looking back at Eddie. “You have the best laugh. Make’s you’re face go all…” and Buck twisted his face into a big smile, blood-tinged drool escaping from the corners of his mouth.
This only set the others off more and Eddie looked to the ceiling, wondering if he willed it hard enough it would come down and bury him from this moment.
A week ago, on Eddie’s couch, Buck had been brave and told Eddie that he was in love with him. A week ago, they had shared their first kiss. A week ago, they had decided to give them a shot. It had been a blissful week. Nothing had really changed, only now they stole kisses whenever they could, and Eddie didn’t have to fight the urge to touch Buck. They hadn’t told anyone yet (other than Chris who had been so ecstatic by the news he had a crying fit that resulted in the three of them cuddling on the couch with ice cream).
And now Buck was blurting out his feelings in front of their family.
“Okay, kid,” Bobby said, moving closer to Buck while Hen and Chimney struggled to pull themselves together. Bobby clapped Buck on the shoulder, giving it a squeeze. “I think that’s enough declarations for today.”
“M’ going to marry him,” Buck slurred, giving a sharp nod as he looked up at Bobby. “I should marry Eddie coz he’s so pretty and nice and he has a nice laugh.”
Hen and Chimney cooed around their laughter as Eddie snapped his gaze back to Buck.
“Before you start proposing to your partner,” the nurse interrupted, shooting Eddie an amused look. “We need to check the stitches in your mouth.”
“K,” Buck hummed. “Then I can ask Eddie to marry me?”
“Absolutely,” the nurse grinned.
With gloved hands, the nurse urged Buck to open his mouth. He made little pained noises as she removed the cotton wads from his mouth and Eddie automatically stepped to his side, taking his hand. Buck squeezed Eddie’s hand tightly, body tilting into his space. Eddie ignored the laughter from Hen and Chimney. He wasn’t embarrassed that Buck was blurting his feelings all over the place.
In fact, Eddie was thrilled that Buck, even in his doped-up state, still felt the same way. That, apparently, he wanted to marry Eddie. Just that thought had Eddie’s heart tumbling in his chest and a swarm of butterflies fluttering through his stomach.
“It’s looking good,” the nurse said, stepping back. “If the bleeding continues, you will need to come back but otherwise you are good to go home.”
“Wanna’ go home,” Buck mumbled into Eddie’s shoulder where he had pressed his face.
“Yeah, we can go home,” Eddie promised softly. He looked back to the nurse who was giving them both a fond smile. “Other than soft foods and rinsing after every meal with salt water, what else do we need to do?”
The nurse ran through the aftercare with Eddie, and he made mental notes for anything he might need to pick up on the way home.
“We’ll get the discharge paper’s ready,” Bobby said, giving Hen and Chimney as significant look.
The two paramedics caught it and dutifully left the room, not before shooting Eddie a teasing grin. Bobby’s eyes swept over the two of them before settling on Eddie.
Eddie tried not to swallow at Bobby’s stare. As Buck burrowed into his shoulder, Eddie’s arm came around the younger man automatically and Bobby’s lips twitched at the sight. He gave Eddie a nod before he followed Hen and Chimney out of the room, leaving Eddie alone with Buck.
“Home?” Buck asked, looking up at Eddie with wide, pleading eyes. “My face hurts.”
“I bet it does,” Eddie said. He carded a hand through Buck’s hair, the soft strands falling through his fingers. “Don’t worry, you’re still pretty.”
Buck grinned up at Eddie, the glaze in his eyes getting blurrier. “Yeah?”
“Yeah.” Eddie ducked his head, pressing his lips to Buck’s birthmark. “Come on, let’s get you home.”
“Mmm love home,” Buck hummed. “Love you.”
Eddie’s breath hitched in his chest and his heart tripped in his chest. “I love you too.” He pressed another kiss to Buck’s birthmark, smiling into the pink mark. “Come on, let’s get you home.”
~*~
Buck was already in bed when Eddie slipped into the bedroom. After dinner (mash potato and soup for Buck, chicken for Chris and Eddie) Buck had put himself to bed.
“Is Buck okay?” Chris asked, looking worriedly towards the bedroom door.
“He’ll be okay, mijo. He’s a bit sore, but he’ll be back to his usual energy soon enough,” Eddie had explained.
And Eddie had expected Buck to be quiet. The drugs had started to wear off just before dinner and so Eddie knew that he would be feeling the pain. Before he went to bed, he had taken more painkillers, hopefully taking the edge off so he could get some sleep. But Eddie couldn’t help but think there was something else to Buck’s quietness.
Slipping into the bed, Eddie propped himself up against the headboard, sliding close to Buck. Eddie gently ran his fingers through Buck’s curls. He knew Buck was awake when he arched into the touch.
“You feeling okay?” Eddie asked, eyes tracing over Buck.
His partner shifted, pressing himself into Eddie’s side, resting his head on his stomach. “Yeah.”
Eddie gave a hum of disbelief. “You don’t sound okay.”
Buck gave a deep sigh. “M’ sorry.”
“For what?” Eddie frowned, genuinely confused as to what Buck was feeling sorry for. He waited for Buck to speak, still carding his fingers through Buck’s curls.
“For outing us to our family,” Buck said eventually.
“They were going to find out at some point,” Eddie shrugged. “I don’t care.”
Buck shifted, staring up at Eddie. “You’re not mad?”
Eddie grinned down at Buck, fingers tracing over his forehead. “No. I love you. I don’t care who knows that.”
He felt Buck relax deeper into him. “I love you, so much.”
“I got that,” Eddie chuckled. “Going to marry me, are you?”
Buck grinned up at Eddie sheepishly. “Surprise?”
Eddie barked out a laugh. “Well, the answer is yes for when you need it.”
Buck grinned. “I’ll keep that in mind.”
Eddie hunched over, pressing a kiss to Buck’s forehead. “Go to sleep, love.”
Buck hummed, eyes slipping closed. Eddie watched as he faded into sleep, a fond smile on his lips. Yeah, he was going to marry this man and he couldn’t wait.

Random, but can someone make a buddie one shot where like, maybe Eddie accidentally walks in on Buck in the bath and just freezes and stares in shock but NO, not because he’s seeing a naked Buck, but because Buck is just sitting in the bath crying with a pizza that clearly fell into the bath and that was Buck’s last straw?
Like crack, but also a little serious.
Anyone?? If so, please tag me lol.

The Unexpected Hero
Evan Buckley x reader
Imagine: saving Buck (911) from and explosion and he's determined to find out who you are (from @procrastinatorimagines).
Requested: Nope.
Author’s Note:  I’ve been wanting to write this ever since I saw this prompt image.  Also (writing this on 7/12/22), My legs are dead after drumline camp, so I continued writing this on my night shift. Please give me feedback as this is my first time writing for 911.  Was considering asking someone if they want to proof read just to make sure the content is good. Message me if anyone want to.  I also reworked my masterlist so it’s not as crowded.
Requests are still OPEN.  Feedback is always appreciated.  Also, tell me if you want to be part of a Tag List and I’ll tag you when I upload something new.  Also, I’m tagging @911readercollection here.
Warning: I’m not sure fire works how I exactly described it.  Arsonist, bomb exploder/explodes, chase scene, arrests, I very much thought of old action movies when writing this.  I didn’t proofread this.  Athena being a queen.
Word Count: 1,854
It was another mind numbing day of staring at your computer as statistics went by so you could crunch the numbers for your penny pincher stick up his ass boss.  And just to describe how frugal he is, he chose the cheapest office for his workers while he never showed up himself.  Cheap in LA usually means poor quality, or not in a safe neighborhood.  In this case, it meant both.  You had to bring your own stool because you could not stand one more second of your legs sticking to those cheap plastic chairs that are “usually” used at graduation parties.  At least you were left alone until you had to present your findings to your boss.  However, this meant that your mind got distracted easily and sometimes fell asleep until your eyes and mind processed nothing that was on your screen.
Your mind woke up out of its stagnant state to that sound. You know, that sound.  The sound that’s been drilled into your mind ever since you were young.  The sound of a fire alarm going off along with its blinking lights.  You were surprised the building even had working fire systems.  But, you did what you were taught and you stayed low to the ground and crawled on your hands and knees keeping your hand along the wall to guide your way.  You found your way to the side of the building out a fire exit.  One of those exits near the trucking docks of your building.  You stopped a mere couple feet from the building to catch your breath, which more ended up like you crouched to cough your lungs out.  This is what you imagined smoking for 50 years felt like.
You looked up just as a firefighter started coming towards you.  Do all firefighters have to imitate magazines and be super hot in uniform and way out of your league?  He still had his smoke mask over his face and his helmet on, as he should , so you couldn’t make out much of what he actually looked like.   “Ma’am, are you okay?”
You would have responded if something else didn’t catch your attention.  Behind the fireman’s legs, you could see someone else in a gray hoodie walking away from the scene.  Walking.  As in “cool guys don’t look at explosions” walking, and that kind of walking away from a fire can never be good.  He started to raise his right hand above his head while keeping his back turned toward you and STILL WALKING.   You couldn’t be sure what he was doing or what is intentions are, but you had to take a chance.
With your strength that you found somewhere, you body slammed the fireman in the hips as hard as you could and that managed to get him, and yourself, to the ground.  His arms encircled around you, out of instinct you think, and you were buried into his firejacket while his back took most of the brute hit from the ground.  The office building behind you exploded like an action movie and you felt the heat from the building behind you multiply by 1000 and a loud noise ring your ears to the point where you could only hear white noise for a second.
You hesitantly opened your eyes expecting ash to sting them or you see the light of heaven letting you know that you died.  Thankfully, you were still mostly in one piece, but the sight of the person you suspected was responsible running from said exploding building was the first thing you saw while lying on the ground.  This isn’t an action movie, but you couldn’t convince your brain that it wasn’t.
You got up from the ground and started sprinting after the man, your body and lungs screaming at you to stop and rest, but your adrenaline said ‘no’.  You kept following the man around a few corners, not even stopping to think if he was armed or not when a cop car came from an alley and hit him T-bone style.  It didn’t kill him, but it flung him a few feet in the opposite direction.  He definitely wouldn’t be resisting arrest anytime soon.
“Hands on your head.” you heard shout in front of you.  You kept yours on the back of your head just so the cop would know you weren’t putting up a fight.
You took this opportunity to cough your lungs out in the middle of an alley because they were exhausted from being filled with smoke and then asked to run a marathon.
The cop was quick to cuff the man and lock him in the back of her squad car.  She then came around and stood next to your hunched over figure.  “Just try to breath deeply mame.”  After a few more minutes of coughing your lungs out you finally had the strength to look up at her.  Your eyes were watered and probably red from the smoke, but you could still make out most of what she looked like.  She was a middle aged black woman and had short black hair that swooped to one side.  She still was in her full uniform and a bullet proof vest.
“Did you get him?”  Why was that the first thing you asked? No thank you, just that?
“Yes mame, we did.  Your speed and quick thinking guided him right to us.  What were you doing chasing a man like him anyway?”
You struggled to stand up, but you were able to keep some of your decency before you spoke to her.  “I saw him walking away from my office building that exploded, and no one runs unless they have something to hide, so I just mindlessly chased after him.  I chased him and you T-boned him.  Problem solved.”  You clapped your hands brushing the dust off them like you did a job well done.
“You were in the building five blocks from here that exploded into flames?”  Have I really been running for five blocks?  Wow.  Might as well act as if you run regularly.
“Yes, and if the fire inspection comes to it, can I testify against my boss? He’s a frugal piece of shit, so I doubt that the building was up to code.”  She seemed to give me a satisfied smirk.
“Ok.  I like a strong independent women who knows what she wants.  Come with me and I’ll give you a ride to the station and get a statement from you.”
“Thank you, Miss…”
“Athena, and if you ever want to be a cop or detective, I’ll put in a referral for you to get started into the training.  We’d love to have you.”
So that’s how your day ended.  Athena drove you and her suspect to the police station, you gave a statement of what happened and how bad the building you worked in was.  You left your contact information incase they needed anything else or they wanted you for the detective job.  She even gave you a ride back to your, surprisingly, not destroyed car that was parked outside of your office building.
________________________________________________________________
**Buck’s POV, later that day at station 118**
I walked back up the stairs after a shower to find most of the team in the kitchen.  Bobby was making something that smelled delicious for dinner.  I still couldn’t wrap my head around what happened earlier.
“Hey Hen, did some lady come to the ambulance at the fire of that warehouse office building today?” I sat down at the kitchen table next to her.
“We had a couple people there today but no one needed to go to the hospital, just needed some extra oxygen. Why, you recognize someone?”
“No it’s just…”  Do I say that the muscles of a fireman lost against someone’s adrenaline.  I decide to leave that part out.  “Just someone was running away from the fire and after someone and I just wanted to make sure they’re ok.  I couldn’t find them afterwards.”
“Hey everyone.”  Athena walked up the stairs to the kitchen area and greeted everyone.
“Hey Athena.”  I didn’t put too much enthusiasm into my greeting.  She went and kissed Bobby really quick and came back to me.  “Why you so down Buck?”
“He’s trying to find someone who ran off from the fire today.”  Hen answered for me.
“You mean the one that body slammed you before the building blew up.”
Well, thanks for saving me the embarrassment Bobby.  I gave him that you seriously just said that look that he’s probably given me a million times.
“Yes, that one.  She just ran off after body slamming me and it wasn’t a reactionary thing she did it BEFORE the building blew up, like right before.”  Athena gave me a knowingly smile apparently knowing something that I didn’t.
“Oh yes, I know who she is.  She’s real sweet.  Caught our bomber, gave a statement about what she witness, and was willing to testify.”  She was saying this like it was no deal as easy as asking what you had for breakfast that morning.
“You know her.  I wanted to see if I could thank her because she helped me avoid getting a face full of flames.”
“Well, I still have her number.  But Buck …”
“Yes.” Athena always has something up her sleeve.
“Treat her right.  She talked about the building she worked in.  She deserves something good.”
“Yes mame.”  That wasn’t even my intention, but Buck 3.0 is the most respectful out of all the Bucks.
Athena gave me her number and I went to one of the fire department office rooms where it was more quiet and less people would come in to interrupt or tease me for wanting to talk to a girl I barely met.  I type in her number and wait while the ringtones go by.  Then there’s that unfortunate monotone voice of an answering machine.  I decide to leave a message anyway.
“Hey Y/n, it’s Buck.  Well you don’t know my name yet but I’m the firefighter you slammed earlier today.  Athena, the cop, gave me your number.  I just wanted to thank you for saving me.  You were really brave I heard, chasing down an armed aronsist.  **Hurry up Buck, you have limited voicemail space** I just wanted to thank you and see if you wanted to go out sometime … so I can properly thank you in person I mean.  Well I-.”  The call hung me up.  Hope that got saved.
I decided to take a walk around the trucks and clear my head.  Before I made even one lap around, I got a text.
Hey Buck.  Nice to finally know your name.  Hope I didn’t hurt you too bad from the body slam earlier.  My phone’s out of whack and not accepting calls since it got cracked in my street chase today, but I’d love to go to cheesecake factory with you sometime, or even just walking on the boardwalk.  You text me your availability, since I’m out of a job for now. Hehe. -Y/n

Media/TV/Docu Fic's
The following are some buddie fanfictions involving filming or media setting (reality tv, documentary, media)
Tumblr media
L.A. First Responders (911 Mockumentary) by RedpathArcade
9-1-1 (TV)
"I was Captain once," Chimney grinned into the camera lens, "Wasn't much liked." "I wanted to rip those stupid glasses off of you and shove them were the sun-" The camera quickly moved off of Buck before he could finish his sentence. "Weren't you the Captain when that kid Freddy blew up that fire truck?" Craig asked. And oh boy, that was the wrong thing to ask. In a flash the entire fire department was holding back a furious Eddie. "¡Déjame ir! ¡Voy a matarlo!"
Language: English Words: 33,576 Chapters: 10/10
in red blue green by hammersmiths
9-1-1 (TV)
The commissioner signs off on a workplace documentary set in the 118 to better community attitudes towards the fire department. Unfortunately, whatever is going on between Firefighters Buckley and Diaz is a much more interesting story.
Language: English Words: 11,383 Chapters: 1/1
My Type On Paper by earthstar (startrex)
9-1-1 (TV)
“She’s pretty,” Chim commentates. Hen snorts. “They’re all pretty. That’s the point.” Chim has his phone hooked up to the TV so they can watch the Love Island premier episode in awkward chunks between calls. They’ve already been interrupted once and they haven’t even seen anyone ‘couple up’ yet—just the intros from the boys, where Buck described himself as looking for a genuine connection while ducking his head and laughing. Hen had cooed over that, talking about how if anyone could find that on a reality show, it would be Buck. Eddie can’t help but agree; Buck has a knack for making people love him. Not that Eddie is speaking from personal experience, or anything.
 —or—
Buck goes on Love Island to get back on the dating scene. For eight weeks, Eddie watches.
Language: English Words: 7,908 Chapters: 1/1
Idiots on Reddit by 7ate9

You sat down on your empty kitchen counter , the pain in your arm showing up again, reminding you that you couldn’t move it. A sigh fell from your lips as you heard knocking on your door, walking towards it and looking through to see May. The frown you had suddenly turned into a soft smile while you unlocked the door.
“Y/N!”
“May!” You said back with the same energy, giving her a side hug to prevent putting harmful pressure on your injury.
“How’s your arm holding up?” She asks, pushing past you with 2 grocery bags on her left arm and 1 on her right.
“Woah woah woah…What do you have in those bags?” you say, May gave you was mocking-confusion.
“Remember, you had broken your arm right in front of me, so I’m deciding to help you get better in the process- and don’t say you don’t need help…” she looks around to see the small messes splatter around your apartment, “cause you do..”
“Okay okay,” you laugh, “Maybe I do need some help.” You grab one of the bags with your uninjured arm, glancing inside.
“How is popcorn and my favorite candy gonna help my arm heal?” You say raising an eyebrow.
“By watching your favorite movie! I can’t have you sad AND in pain. I’ll be staying here for a while.” May announces, her head tilting upwards to show her proudness, you just can’t help but giggle.
“But…I don’t want you being here just cause I’m hurt-“
“I’m here because I want to be here Y/N.” She looks at you with a heartwarming smile.
“Thank you…really. You’re already making me feel better.” The both of you laugh before she says something again.
“Of course! Now let’s get you settled in for some movie time.” May heads to the living room, setting down the bags and beginning to search for your favorite movie. You follow after her, feeling a sense of comfort as you settle in on the couch with a cozy blanket.
As the movie starts, you feel your worries fade away and your pain start to dull. May sits down right beside you, snacking on popcorn and laughing at the movie’s jokes. You can’t help but smile, happy that she’s here with you.
After the movie ends, May helps you clean up and settle into bed to sleep. As you close your eyes, you feel a sense of peace wash over you, knowing that you have someone who cares about you and will be there for you when you need it most.

Wear My Name
Day 13 for flufftober: Wrong. You can read it here on Ao3
“Eddie!”
“Welcome back!”
“Diaz returns!”
“Did you bring us anything back?”
Eddie laughed at the warm greeting that washed over him from the 118 crew as he crossed the loft to the kitchen. It felt like coming home, lighting up his insides in a way he once thought wouldn’t be possible. A delicious scent grew stronger when he reached the kitchen and it smelt like pastry and cinnamon. His stomach rumbled loudly, and he quickened his steps.  When he reached the kitchen, Chimney slapped him on the shoulder with a grin.
“Welcome back!”
“It’s good to see you, Eddie,” Hen greeted with a smile, passing him a fresh cup of coffee.
“Breakfast won’t be long,” Bobby added with a smile before he ducked down to pull open the oven.
Eddie accepted the coffee with a quick thanks as he glanced between Hen, Chimney and Bobby. “You’re all acting like I’ve been away for months rather than a week.”
“Was it just a week?” Chimney asked, looking at Hen and Bobby, eyebrow raised high. “Because it felt a lot longer.”
Hen sniggered. “Yeah, I’m sure it’s been a year since we’ve seen you.”
Eddie narrowed his eyes, looking between Hen and Chimney suspiciously. The week away had been something that he had been planning for a while. His parents had asked if Eddie and Chris could come to El Paso for a visit. Since Chris was on school holidays, Eddie had asked Bobby for a week off which had been granted.
The week away had gone better than Eddie had expected. Since his talk with his dad, things between them had been better. They were talking more, being more open with one another and the progress they had made had shown. Eddie had left El Paso feeling refreshed for once, rather than weighted down with unmet expectations.
“What’s going on?” Eddie asked, looking between Hen and Chimney.
“We’re just happy that your back,” Bobby said as he slid a cinnamon scroll onto a plate – Eddie’s favourite. He picked it up, handing it to Eddie who took it with his other free hand.
“Some more than others,” Chimney muttered not so quietly.
Hen gave a cackle, taking her own cinnamon scroll that Bobby handed her.
“What does that mean?” Eddie asked as he trailed Hen to the table, sliding into a chair opposite her.
“Who do you think can talk Bobby into cooking, from scratch, your favourite breakfast?” Chimney asked as he crossed to join them at the table.
Eddie cheeks flushed hot, and he ducked his head to hide the pink tinge he knew his cheek were taking on. He tore off some of the cinnamon scroll and stuffed it in his mouth. He made a pleased noise in the back of his throat as the flavours hit his tongue. Eddie owed Buck for getting Bobby to make these. It would have been better if Buck had been here to share them with him.
Disappointment had rushed through Eddie when Buck had told him he would be in later for his shift. Buck had dropped Chris and Eddie off at the airport and had picked them up when they returned. He had made them dinner, listening intently to Chris’s blow by blow of their trip away. In return, he regaled them with stories of the calls they had been on, having Chris in fits of giggles. Buck had crashed at their place but had left before Chris had gone to school, having promised to take Maddie to an appointment.
“It wasn’t any trouble to make the scrolls,” Bobby said from the kitchen.
Chimney leaned forward, his voice an over-the-top whisper. “He says that like he didn’t get here an hour earlier.”
Eddie flashed a grateful smile to Bobby while Hen snorted into her coffee. “Thanks, Bobby. I really appreciate you making these.”
“You’re welcome,” Bobby smiled, finally coming to join them at the table with his own coffee and scroll. “But you should thank Buck too. He wanted you to have something nice for your first day back.”
“That boy missed you,” Hen said, pointing a finger at Eddie.
“I missed him too,” Eddie said, heart skipping in his chest at the admission. He had missed Buck. Even though they had texted every day and they called every night when they could. Buck made sure to tell Christopher good night or text it if he had been out on a call. It just wasn’t the same though. Eddie wished that Buck could have come with them. Eddie hated not having Buck’s back, that he was out on call’s when he couldn’t keep him safe.
“No, he really missed you,” Chimney said, popping a piece of scroll in his mouth.
Hen hummed with agreement. “Like, kept putting on the wrong turnout coat missed you.”
“What?” Eddie frowned.
“Buckley suddenly became Diaz while you were away,” Chimney smirked. “Anything you need to share with the class?”
Eddie blinked. Buck hadn’t mentioned anything like that in any of their text messages. He looked to Bobby, checking to see if Chimney and Hen were pulling his leg.
Bobby just smiled fondly at Eddie, giving a little shrug. “Happened a few times. I don’t think he realised he was doing it.”
Eddie opened his mouth to say something, but nothing came out.
A phone was suddenly shoved under his nose and blinked at the image on the screen. Sure enough it was a picture of Buck (and Eddie would recognise that figure anywhere) half turned in the shot that was clearly taken at a scene. The back of the jacket was visible enough that Eddie could make out his surname. The flash of heat that pooled in his stomach at the sight of Buck wearing his name had him shifting in his seat, mouth suddenly dry.
“And there are plenty more examples.” Chimney withdrew the phone with a smug smile.
Eddie was saved from answering by the sudden ring of the alarm. There were a series of groans as everyone abandoned their morning coffee and scrolls (though Eddie shoved the rest of his in mouth – partly to avoid having to talk and partly because these were his favourite and no he was leaving his behind).
Racing downstairs, he joined everyone grabbing their gear before hurrying to the engine. As he grabbed his coat, he couldn’t help but picture Buck grabbing it. He wondered if there was still the faint scent of cologne that Buck used clinging to the fabric. The thought made his head spin, and he shoved it down as he climbed into the engine.
The call was to a small house fire. They managed to put it out fairly quickly and Eddie was glad because his mind wasn’t fully focused. All his could think of was Buck wearing his coat and how it made his stomach clench with the knowledge.
Despite the fact that Hen and Chimney thought Eddie and Buck oblivious towards their feelings towards one another, they weren’t. They knew about the bet that everyone had, wondering who would break first and admit their feelings.
What the fire station didn’t know was that they had already done that.
(And nobody had won that bet but Karen had gotten the closest)
It had been a week before Eddie and Chris had gone to El Paso. Eddie had broken the news to Buck that they were going away. Buck had chuckled, shaking his head when Eddie had told him.
“What?” Eddie had frowned, not sure what Buck had found so amusing.
“Nothing,” Buck had shrugged. He had bitten his lip, shoulder’s squaring. “Actually…”
“Yes?” Eddie had prompted when Buck hadn’t continued.
Buck had huffed out another laugh. “It’s just… I was going to ask you if…if you wanted to go on a date. With me. And now you’re going to El Paso for a week and,” Buck shook his head. “Just my luck, right?”
“Yes,” Eddie had blurted out.
Buck had blinked with surprise, obviously taken aback by the force of Eddie’s yes. “Yes?”
“I’ll go on a date. With you. Yes.”
And Buck’s smile had lit up his whole face. “Really?”
“It’s going to suck being away from you for a week,” Eddie admitted, cheeks flaring hot. “But I don’t want to wait until I’m back.”
And Buck had crossed the space between them, hands sliding onto Eddie hips like they belonged there. “Good. I’m tired of waiting.”
Eddie had beamed back, feeling breathless and lightheaded. “No more waiting, then.”
And Eddie had proof now that Buck had missed him just as he had missed Buck. The thought had him feeling giddy and it seemed impossible to wipe the smile off his face (and smiling when someone’s home was on fire wasn’t very professional).
By the time the cleaned up and got back to the station, Buck had started his shift. Eddie had tried not to hurry in putting away his gear and kept his steps even as he followed everyone up to the loft.
The breakfast mess had been cleaned, Buck standing at the kitchen island, wiping it down. He looked up when everyone entered, flashing them a happy grin.
“Hey guys!”
“Hey Buckaroo,” Hen called out.
“Where’s my scroll?” Chimney demanded, eyeing Buck suspiciously.
“Where you left it.” Buck rolled his eyes good naturedly. His gaze found Eddie’s and the older man watched as he perked up, his smile growing. “Eddie! Did you get one?”
“I did,” Eddie said, making his way to the kitchen. “Thank you, for that.”
Buck smile was bashful as Eddie rounded the kitchen island. “No problem.”
Eddie grinned, stepping into Buck’s space. “I heard you missed me.”
Buck scoffed in the back of his throat. “Of course, I did.”
Eddie hummed, hands sliding to Buck’s waist. “Enough that you kept grabbing my turnout coat.”
Buck’s cheeks flushed a pretty pink. “Oops?”
Eddie grinned, his cheeks aching with how big it was. “I missed you too.” He leaned in, placing a gentle kiss on Buck’s lips.
Buck squeaked with surprise, Eddie chuckling at the sound, but then Buck melted into it, kissing him back just as gently. They pulled away, Buck grinning at Eddie, the loft deadly silent behind them.
Eddie turned to look at them, feeling Buck do the same.
Hen, Chimney and Bobby were staring at them, mouth open.
“Since none of you won the bet,” Buck said, arm wrapping around Eddie’s waist. “Does that mean we get the earnings?”
And the loft exploded into chaos, everyone shouting over one another. Eddie only laughed, leaning into Buck’s side. One day, Buck would wear his name in a way that joined them together forever and Eddie couldn’t wait.
