The Deal Podcast With A-Rod Hits A Home Run

Many people not obsessed with money may not know that Bloomberg has a large number of podcasts. Some of them are even interesting, even if you don't have millions to toss around in tax-free shelters. 

My favorite is Bloomberg Businessweek, which mirrors the traditional print magazine. 

One of Bloomberg's newest podcasts is The Deal with Alex Rodriguez and Jason Kelly.

Here's what Bloomberg says about The Deal: "The Deal brings together A-Rod Corp CEO and owner of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx, Alex Rodriguez, and Bloomberg’s veteran business journalist, Jason Kelly to explore the stories behind the biggest deals across industries. Alex and Jason exchange notes with athletes, entertainers, and executives about the deals that shaped their careers in sports and business. They dive into team ownership, investment philosophies, missed opportunities, and more." Since A-Rod has been on Shark Tank numerous times, his business bona fides have been validated, and he is an owner of two professional basketball teams. In the fall, Rodriguez told The Hollywood Reporter: “Dealmaking in sports, media and entertainment requires a strategic vision and nuanced execution to compete in such a crowded space,” Rodriguez said. “Jason brings his experience as a seasoned journalist, and I share what I’ve learned from the best in sports and business. Our show will welcome iconic figures to provide insights that you won’t hear anywhere else.”

Kelly and A-Rod make a good team with sold hosting chemistry, and the show is off to a good start. Of particular note is episode three. In the latest episode, Rodriguez and Kelly sit down with NFL executive-turned-manager Constance Schwartz-Morini to talk about working with Snoop Dogg, Erin Andrews, Deion Sanders, Michael Strahan and more.

Watch a clip below where Schwartz-Morini says she called Roger Goodell to broker a meeting between the NFL and Snoop Dogg for support in launching what eventually became the Snoop Youth Football League.

These artists have included a series of ingredients or principles of design into this piece of artwork. First I noticed the use of scale and proportion. The artists used 5000 pound shuttlecocks to demonstrate mocking and humorous tone. Implied lines and balance are noticeable within the columns of the gray building in the background. The focal point obviously is the extravagant shuttlecock which is another important composition of design. Again the artists uses emphasis on this huge shuttlecock to draw the viewers attention.

CONNECTING ART TO YOUR WORLD

Color has affected my life through my constant change in hair. I tend to get bored of my hair color or style quickly. My favorite colors I have done have been purple and red. When it comes to purple I like a pastel and calm appearing tone. There has been a differentiating value of purples in my hair unlike the red. The red color I had was much more saturated than purple. It is bright and consistent in value throughout. I tend to stick to warmer hues like purple and red. If i had a color scheme for my life it would be all warm tones of a beautiful Florida summer sunset.

Although this painting may appear negative, it is a brutally honest representation of how it feels to have anxiety. I used acrylic paint and medium sized canvas.

This portrait is of woman wearing a tightly coiled blend of flowers on her head representing the righteous pride of being an African American woman. The specific name of the woman is not mentioned. It was taken by Akilah Townsend in Chicago, Illinois. Townsend feels that African American woman with non-European features are not celebrated enough.

Landscape

This photo was taken in Iceland of Kurkjufell Mountain by Lurie Belegurschi. I love the depth that is created using a stacking technique of similar shaped objects to create dimension.

Still Life

This still life portrait was taken by Emine Basa. She is incorporating some artisan bread, a pear, fresh garlic, an onion, a wooden spoon, a crock and a homemade clay goblet. She included this material because Basa has been collecting antiques, wood objects, and dried fruits. The artist does a wonderful job dramatizing and cultivating everyday ordinary objects with extraordinary attention to detail in regards to contrast in light. I love the real life steam coming out of the crock.
